Private services for Doris L. Schaefer, 84, of College Station will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station.

Mrs. Schaefer died Friday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Donna, Texas, and lived in College Station 24 years. She was retired from First City Bank.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene F. Schaefer.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Larry Hill of College Station; a sister-in-law, Sister Mary Geralda Schaefer of McAllen; two grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

Arville D. Wallace

Oct. 2, 1921 — Dec. 13, 2001

BRENHAM — Graveside services for Arville D. Wallace, 80, of Brenham are set for 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Houston National Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

Mr. Wallace died Thursday in Brenham.

He was born in Ashby, Neb., and was retired as a heavy equipment mechanic. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by a stepson, Michael Eugene Bonnet.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen L. Cole Wallace of Brenham; a stepson and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Lisa Bonnet of Brenham; and a stepdaughter and son-in-law, Debbie and John Riley of Port Lavaca.

James Frank Zapalac

Oct. 1, 1930 — Dec. 13, 2001

CALDWELL — Services for James Frank Zapalac, 71, of Lexington are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lexington.

Monsignor Emilian Foltyn will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery near Dime Box.

A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Mr. Zapalac died Thursday at his home.

He was born in Lee County and was a retired production worker for Kellar Chair Company in Caldwell. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Natalie Orazco Zapalac.

Survivors include three sisters, Evelyn Paul of Rockdale, Angeline Bayer of Dime Box and Dolores Schulz of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rosa Barrios

Dec. 24, 1947 — Dec. 14, 2001

Services for Rosa Barrios, 53, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Monday at Santa Teresa Catholic Church in Bryan.

The Rev. Victor Robles of Santa Teresa Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Barrios died Friday at her home.

She was born in Bryan and was employed by Texas A&M University.

Survivors include her husband, Salvador Barrios; four sons, Natividad E. Gonzales, Robert Gonzales, Manuel Gonzales and Salvador Barrios Jr.; four daughters, Petra Gonzales, Sandra Galindo, Sylvia Barrios and Sonia Barrios; two brothers, John Ramirez and Mike Ramirez; two sisters, Theresa Castaneda and Minnie Sarate; and 20 grandchildren.

Lela Belle McWhorter Capps

March 18, 1938 — Dec. 14, 2001

MADISONVILLE — Services for Lela Belle McWhorter Capps, 63, of Richardson are set for 2 p.m. Monday at the Willowhole Chapel in North Zulch.

Lanier Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in Willowhole Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at the Madisonville Funeral Home.

Ms. Capps died Friday in Richardson, Texas.

She was born in Madisonville and lived in the Dallas area for seven years. She worked as a cashier for Randall’s grocery store and was a Baptist.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ernest Capps and Terry and Stacey Capps, all of San Diego, and David and Nita Capps of Biloxi, Miss.; three daughters and a son-in-law, Joye Chambers of Madisonville, Lisa Jill and Majid Elmazouni of Richardson and Lana Jan Capps of Austin; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and J.W. Williams of Midway; and seven grandchildren.

Juanita Enrique

Aug. 18, 1969 — Dec. 15, 2001

CALDWELL — Services for Juanita Enrique, 32, of Caldwell are set for 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Caldwell.

The Rev. Dimitrij Colankin will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Ms. Enrique died Saturday in Burleson/St. Joseph Health Center.

She was born in Bryan and was employed by B-T Quinn Oilfield Supply as a secretary. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include her parents, Jessie Sr. and Margaret Enrique of Caldwell; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Michael and Cindy Enrique and Jessie Jr. and Andrea Enrique, all of Caldwell, and Victor Enrique of Austin; four sisters, Sara Enrique, Victoria Enrique, Mary Jane Enrique and Mary Alice Peel, all of Caldwell; three nephews; and a niece.

Ott Charles Reeves Jr.

May 15, 1923 — Dec. 14, 2001

Services for Ott Charles Reeves Jr., 78, of Bryan are set for 3 p.m. Sunday in the Astin Chapel at the Bryan City Cemetery.

The Rev. Bob Richers of the First United Methodist Church in Bryan will officiate. Burial will be in Bryan City Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

Mr. Reeves died Friday in St. Joseph Manor.

He was born in Ada, Okla., and lived in Bryan 55 years. He was a marine engineer, real estate broker and farmer. He graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kingspoint, N.Y., and served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bryan.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Linda Reeves of Dallas; two daughters, Rebecca Lynn Reeves-Stanford of Boca Raton, Fla., and Blair Reeves of Bryan; three brothers, Bill Reeves of Seguin, Philip Reeves of Longview and David Reeves of Canyon Lake; a sister, Sammy Galbraith of Louisiana; and four grandchildren.

May Nell Shivers Hightower

March 5, 1936 — Dec. 13, 2001

Services for May Nell Shivers Hightower, 65, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the G.W. Tabernacle Church in Bryan.

The Rev. Morris Williams of True Vine Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Brewer Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

Mrs. Hightower died Thursday at her home.

She was born in Burleson County and lived in Bryan 55 years. She was a homemaker and was a member of True Vine Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A.C. Hightower; and a son, Ricky Johnson Sr.

Survivors include four sons and two daughters-in-law, James and Ursula Johnson of Minnesota, Larry Johnson, Robert and Christena Johnson and Charles Shivers, all of Bryan; four daughters and a son-in-law, Shelia Johnson and John Taylor, Brandy Johnson, Olivia Ware and Aretha Workman, all of Bryan; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Larry K. and Brenda Shivers, P.H. Shivers and Melvin Shivers, all of Bryan; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and David Rhone of Bryan; two daughters-in-law, Brenda Johnson Manning and Ada Johnson Williams, both of Bryan; 28 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mary E. Johnson

Sept. 13, 1909 — Dec. 16, 2001

NORMANGEE — Services for Mary E. Johnson, 92, of Hilltop Lakes are set for 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cozart Funeral Home in Normangee.

Bro. Will Odom of the Normangee Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Wealthy Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Johnson died Sunday in Bryan.

She was born in Marquez and lived in Hilltop Lakes 17 years. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, T.A. Coker.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas L. Johnson of Hilltop Lakes; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Guy Coker of Friendswood, Texas, and Ronny and Donna Coker of Houston; a brother, Jack Bryant of Mexia, Texas; two sisters, Christell Snowwhite of Elgin, Ill., and Jean Goodney of Houston; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Felix ‘Boots’ Luhn Jr.

Sept. 4, 1926 — Dec. 15, 2001

BRENHAM — Services for Felix “Boots” Luhn Jr., 75, of Brenham are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham.

Lawrence Bade and Kim Little Brooks will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

Mr. Luhn died Saturday in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham.

He was born in Kenney, Texas. He worked for Washington County Tractor for 18 years and was retired after 20 years with the maintenance department at Blue Bell Creameries. He worked part time at Blue Bell since his retirement in 1991. He attended Blinn College and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served on the church council, numerous committees and was a sound system operator for Sunday radio broadcasts. He was a former volunteer member of the Brenham Fire Department and was a member of the Buddy Wright Post No. 48 and American Legion Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7104.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Schaffner Luhn of Brenham; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Dotsy Luhn of Brenham; a daughter, Debra Howell of Redondo Beach, Calif.; a brother and sister-in-law, Nolan and Laudine Luhn of Coffeyville, Kan.; a sister, Elvie Koronka of Huntsville; two sisters-in-law, Bernita Luhn of Brenham and Florence Luhn of Bellville; his father-in-law, William Schaffner of Bellville; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Billy and Doris Schaffner of Sealy, Texas; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham.
