Thomas Morgan

Feb. 28, 1928 — Dec. 15, 2001

FRANKLIN — Services for Thomas Morgan, 73, of Franklin are set for 1 p.m. Tuesday at the McCauley Funeral Home Chapel in Franklin.

Charles Leake of Arlington will officiate. Burial will be in the Henry Prairie Cemetery in Robertson County.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Morgan died Saturday at his home.

He was born in Henry Prairie, Texas, and lived in Franklin five years. He was retired from the American Can Company, where he worked 30 years as a mechanic. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Lillie Morgan of Franklin; seven children and their spouses, Steven Ray and Cindy Morgan of Farmington, Ark., Linda Marie and Rick Gardner of Mansfield, Texas, Gary Dale and Debra Morgan and Russell and Sherry Amos, all of Arlington, Charlotte and Ron Wilkinson of Orange, Texas, Cherilyn and Lee Francis of Corpus Christi and Lesley Amos of Hearne; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Sadie and Vince Brocato and Doris and Edwin Pilger, all of Franklin, Margie Helen and Dick Dalton of Houston and Barbara and Don Scherr of Arlington; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Taylor and Vernell Morgan and Jerry and Betty Morgan, all of Franklin, and George M. “Mack” and Rose Mary Morgan of Arlington; and 20 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 205 East 29th Street, Bryan, Texas 77803.

Emilie L. Schaefer

Dec. 4, 1937 — Dec. 15, 2001

Services for Emilie L. Schaefer, 64, of College Station are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in College Station.

The Rev. Dean Wilhelm of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Veterans Cemetery in Houston.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Tuesday at the church.

A vigil service will be at 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Schaefer died Saturday in the College Station Medical Center.

She was born in Syracuse, N.Y., and lived in College Station four years. She was retired from Texas Home Health and was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. She had bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing and was on the Blinn College LVN Advisory Board. She was a member of the UTSC Alumni Association, served as vice president and president of the Texas Nurses Association District 31, and was a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

She was preceded in death by a son, William Mac Stephens.

Survivors include her husband, Robert A. Schaefer of College Station; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert G. Schaefer and Michael G. and Sandra Schaefer, all of College Station; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Dirk Doucet of Denham Springs, La., and Debbie and Ron Fathauer of Brenham; a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Dorothy Amann of Lawton, Okla.; a brother-in-law, Mike Clonce of Choctaw, Okla.; and seven grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the St. Thomas Aquinas Church Building Fund, 2541 S. Earl Rudder Freeway, College Station, Texas 77845, or the Blinn College Foundation Fund.

Evelyn Mildred Swick

Dec. 1, 1911 — Dec. 15, 2001

MARLIN — Services for Evelyn Mildred Swick, 90, of Marlin are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bremond.

The Rev. Ed Mesias and Julian Tyboroski will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin.

A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Swick died Saturday in the Bremond Nursing Home.

She was born in Bremond and was a homemaker and waitress. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marlin, where she was in the PCCW, Holy Rosary Society and the Polish National Alliance.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe F. Swick.

Survivors include a brother, Edwin Bulgawicz of Delvalle, Texas; two sisters, Angie Cowan of Austin and Marie Brigance of Delvalle; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

John Gardner Tax

Nov. 5, 1953 — Dec. 15, 2001

ROSEBUD — Memorial services for John Gardner Tax, 48, of Durango, Texas, are set for 3 p.m. Wednesday at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud.

Mr. Tax died Saturday at his home.

He was born in Marlin and lived most of his life in Brazos and Falls counties. He graduated from A&M Consolidated High School in 1973 and from the Culinary Institute of America in New York City. He worked as an equipment operator for Pactiv Manufacturing Co. in Temple and was also a rancher.

Survivors include his wife, Gretchen Martin Tax of Durango; two daughters, Jessica Tax and Amanda Tax, both of Durango; a brother, Donald Wayne Harris of Huntsville; and two sisters, Carma Tax of Toronto, Canada, and Emily Tax Nichols of Kurten.

William Albert Bellomy

Aug. 14, 1917 — Dec. 16, 2001

HEARNE — Services for William Albert Bellomy, 84, of Calvert are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Calvert.

The Rev. Jeff Riley will officiate. Burial will be in the Cross Cemetery in Cross.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne.

Mr. Bellomy died Sunday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Golden, Texas, and lived in Calvert for four years. He was retired as the physical plant director at the University of Houston. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1943 with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering.

He served in the U.S. Army Ordnance Corps during World War II, participating in the Normandy invasion. He was a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers and the First Baptist Church of Calvert.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anne Bellomy.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Ruth Bellomy of Calvert; two sons and daughters-in-law, William Paul and Beverly Bellomy of Magnolia, Texas, and Marc Thomas and Patricia Gayle Bellomy of Cypress, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet Glynn and Joe Mc Arthur of Tyler; two sisters, Mozelle Richbourg of Buna, Texas, and Agnes La Cour of Breaux Bridge, Texas; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

R.V. ‘Jiggs’ Bland

Sept. 3, 1916 — Dec. 14, 2001

ROCKDALE — Services for R.V. “Jiggs” Bland, 85, of Chriesman are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Burial will be in the Rockdale I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Bland died Friday in Bryan.

He was born in Rockdale and lived in Chriesman 20 years. He formerly lived in Freeport and was retired after 30 years as an operator for Dow Chemical. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was wounded and captured during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a POW until 1945 and received the Purple Heart. He was a rancher for the last 10 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Bland.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Richard Crone of Brenham, Sally and Les Roberts of Angleton, Texas, and Robin and Mark Becker of Chriesman; two brothers, Nolan Bland and S.C. Bland, both of Rockdale; a sister, Alice Farris of Tyler; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Una Lee Fields

Nov. 9, 1925 — Dec. 12, 2001

Private services for Una Lee Fields, 76, of Bryan are set for Wednesday in Ruby’s Chapel of Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan.

The Rev. Samuel Taplin of New Jerusalem Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Restever Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Fields died Wednesday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

She was born in Benchley and was a lifelong resident of Bryan. She was a seamstress and was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Edgar Fields Sr.; six sons, Billy Fields, Edgar Fields Jr., Stanley Fields, David Fields, Lonnie Fields and Roy Fields; four daughters, JoAnn Sanders, Carolyn Williams, Rosie Fields and Beverly Blue; a sister, Elizabeth Mitchell; 29 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

Clarence Robert Haar

Sept. 4, 1932 — Dec. 16, 2001

HOUSTON — Services for Clarence Robert Haar, 69, of Houston are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Advent Lutheran Church in Houston.

The Rev. Larry Beck will officiate. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Rehburg, Texas.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Pat H. Foley Funeral Home in Houston.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

Mr. Haar died Sunday in Houston.

He was born in Kenney, Texas, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Houston.

Survivors include his wife, Margie Korthauer Haar of Houston; three daughters and a son-in-law, Connie and Bruce Alter of Miami, Fla., Linda Vaughn of Bryan and Robin Haar of North Hollywood, Calif.; a brother and sister-in-law, Alton and Barbara Haar of Brenham; and four grandchildren.

Anna Mae Landry

Feb. 19, 1926 — Dec. 17, 2001

BUFFALO — Services for Anna Mae Landry, 75, of Buffalo are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Buffalo Funeral Home.

The Rev. Ted Rydelek will officiate. Burial will be in St. Leo the Great Catholic Cemetery near Centerville.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. Landry died Monday at her home.

She was born in Tulsa, Okla., and lived in Buffalo since 1991. She formerly lived in La Porte, Texas, and was a Catholic. She worked most of her life as a waitress and cook, both at NASA and in Kemah.

Survivors include her husband, Herbert L.J. Landry; two sons and daughters-in-law, Delbert and Tina Landry of La Porte and Joseph Milo and Cindy Landry of Elkhart, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret Ann and Tim Dutton of La Porte; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Ruby Telg

Jan. 2, 1921 — Dec. 17, 2001

CALDWELL — Services for Ruby Telg, 80, of Caldwell are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Caldwell.

The Rev. Gary Samford, former pastor of the Macedonia-Hix Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Macedonia-Hix Cemetery.

Mrs. Telg died Monday in Caldwell.

She was born in Birch, Texas, and was a lifelong resident of Caldwell. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Macedonia-Hix Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben H. Telg; and two sons, Charles Telg and Leonard Ray Telg.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Donnie and Carolyn Telg, Douglas and Betty Telg and Leroy and Beverly Telg, all of Caldwell, and Theo and Janice Telg of Rockdale; a daughter, Betty Telg of Caldwell; a daughter-in-law, Gloria Telg of Caldwell; four sisters, Dora Shupak of Birch, Esther Bates of Caldwell, Alvina Luedke of Centerville and Emma Hruska of Victoria, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
