William Paul Brumlow

Sept. 24, 1916 — Dec. 19, 2001

CALDWELL — Services for William Paul Brumlow, 85, of Caldwell are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Caldwell.

The Rev. Joe Dan Franklin will officiate and burial will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Brumlow died Wednesday.

He was born in Madisonville and lived in Caldwell the past 20 years. He was a retired teacher for the Aldine Independent School District and served as a Baptist minister for more than 60 years. He attended Baylor University and graduated from the University of Houston. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart for his service in the Battle of the Bulge.

Survivors include his wife, Minnie Jeane Brumlow of Caldwell; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy E. and Bette Brumlow of Caldwell and William Paul and Patty Brumlow of Houston; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Jerry Hutton of Commerce, Texas; a brother, Alva Lee Brumlow of Houston; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Kathleen G. Masters

Feb. 25, 1909 — Dec. 19, 2001

Graveside services for Kathleen G. Masters, 92, of College Station are set for 2 p.m. Friday at College Station Cemetery. Mike Lightsey will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mrs. Masters died Wednesday at Colton Inn.

She was born in Nevada, Mo., and lived in Bryan and College Station since 1951. She attended First Baptist Church for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, M.G. Masters.

Survivors include her brother-in-law, James C. Masters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brazos Valley Festival 2002, with Franklin Graham, P.O. Drawer 3665, Bryan, 77805.

Dennis W. Prosper

Oct. 15, 1956 — Dec. 20, 2001

NAVASOTA — Services for Dennis W. Prosper, 45, of Navasota are set for 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Navasota. Burial will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery in Navasota.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Navasota.

Mr. Prosper died Thursday at his home.

He was a longtime resident of Navasota. He was a heavy equipment operator.

Survivors include his wife, Estella Prosper of Navasota; a son, Marcellas Creeks of San Marcos; a daughter, Thamasa Renee Richardson of Navasota; five sisters, Esther Mae Prosper of Dallas and Doris Bullard, Thelma Fielder, Ada Louise Boggess, Emma Chatman, all of Houston; four brothers, Marcellas Prosper of Houston, Robert Earl Prosper of Huntsville, Tommy Jame Prosper of Navasota and Richard Charles Prosper of Houston; and one grandchild.

Ruby Earle

June 4, 1910 — Dec. 20, 2001

ROCKDALE — Services for Ruby Earle, 91, of Rockdale are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F Cemetery in Rockdale.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The Rev. Charles Cox will officiate.

Mrs. Earle died Thursday at Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale.

She was born in Rockdale and attended Rockdale schools. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church in Rockdale and Ladies V.F.W. Auxillary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Earle.

Survivors include a daughter, Billie Smith of Lake Charles, La.; a son-in-law, Milton James Matyastik of Taylor; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Frances F. McKinney

Feb. 15, 1915 — Dec. 20, 2001

Graveside services for Frances F. McKinney, 86, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Boerne City Cemetery in Boerne.

Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

Mrs. McKinney died Thursday in Sherwood Health Care.

She was born in Austin and lived in Bryan four years. She was a homemaker and was a Methodist. She competed in ballroom dancing, where she won numerous awards, and worked as a cashier at Baring’s Hardware in Houston for over 10 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George K. McKinney Sr.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, George II and Daisy McKinney of Caldwell; two daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia and Jim Donahy of Llano and Kay Frances; and five grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a fund set up at Guaranty Federal Bank in Caldwell.

Orville Vance

Aug. 10, 1942 — Dec. 21, 2001

Memorial services for Orville Vance, 59, of Normangee will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mr. Vance died Friday in Franklin.

He was a semi-truck driver. He donated his body to the Texas A&M School of Anatomy for medical study.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Vance of New Baden; a daughter, Heather Bellross of Normangee; a sister, Shirley Wale of Tulsa, Okla.; and two grandchildren.

Charles H. Goessler

Sept. 11, 1909 — Dec. 21, 2001

Charles H. Goessler, 92, died Friday, December 21, 2001 in Trinity Care Center. Mr. Goessler was born September 11, 1909 in Washington, Texas, to William and Bette Loesch Goessler. He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Brenham. He was baptized May 1, 1910 at Friedens Church of Old Washington and confirmed April 5, 1925. He married Emma Amanda Schmidt on October 2, 1930 at St. John’s Lutheran Church by the Rev. Paul Goglin.

Mr. Goessler was a retired machinist from Alenco in Bryan.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Herbert W. and Norma Jean Goessler of Brenham; his daughter and son-in-law, Lavern G. and A.J. Battley of Spring, Texas; four grandchildren, Mark and wife Laraine Goessler and Paul Goessler, all of Carrollton, Texas, Lisa and husband John Moreno of Dallas, and Sharon and husband Chris Haworth of Castle Rock, Colo.; and eight great-grandchildren, Andrew, Alexander and Maggie Goessler, Amanda Moreno and Prentiss, Wilson, Emma and Clara Haworth.

Mr. Goessler was preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters and his wife, Emma Amanda Goessler Jan. 16, 2001.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 24, 2001 at 10 a.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Lawrence Bade officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 23, 2001 from 4 to 6 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Serving as pallbearers will be Hilbert Goessler, Kevin Goessler and Carl Goessler, Cecil Meekins, Garland Sparks and Frank Kocman.

Funeral services are in the care of Brenham Memorial Chapel, 2300 Stringer, Brenham, Texas, 979-836-3611.

Melvin C. Hugo

Feb. 24, 1922 — Dec. 21, 2001

BRENHAM — Services for Melvin C. Hugo, 79, of Bellville are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham.

The Rev. Virgil Pecht will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Mr. Hugo died Friday.

He was born in Gay Hill and was a retired barber. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and attended Gay Hill schools, Burton High School and Blinn College.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl Hugo of Bellville; two sons, Lloyd Hugo and David Hugo, both of Bellville; a daughter, Janice Wied of Bellville; a brother, Garrett Hugo of Houston; six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Bellville.

James Allen Stewart

May 5, 1946 — Dec. 19, 2001

Services for James Allen Stewart, 55, of Bryan are set for 11 a.m. Monday at the Peoples Mortuary Chapel.

The Rev. Clifton Stewart of Mt. Olive Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

Mr. Stewart died Wednesday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Brazos County and was a lifelong resident of Bryan. He was retired.

Survivors include two brothers, Ronell Stewart of Dallas and Marolyn Stewart of Bryan; two sisters, Frances Stewart and Carolyn Stewart of Bryan; and his mother, Corene Stewart of Bryan.

Ronald K. Thrasher

March 8, 1937 — Dec. 22, 2001

CALDWELL — Services for Ronald K. Thrasher, 64, of Caldwell will be held at a later date in Clinton, Ill.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Mr. Thrasher died Saturday at his home.

He was born in Lane, Ill., and was a millwright and carpenter.

Survivors include five sons and two daughters-in-law, Jeffrey Thrasher, Lenard and Mary Thrasher, Ricky and Angie Thrasher, Paul Thrasher and Scott Thrasher; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Penny and Bob Thomas, Cindy and Rick Garrett, Mindy Thrasher and Paula and John Carpenter; four brothers, Don Thrasher, Kenny Thrasher, Denny Thrasher and Carolee Thrasher; two sisters, Patricia Barlow and Sue Waterhouse; 22 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley.

Alice Ray Whitson

Jan. 5, 1921 — Dec. 22, 2001

HUNTSVILLE — Services for Alice Ray Whitson, 80, of Huntsville are set for 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 24, 2001 at the First United Methodist Church of Huntsville under the direction of Huntsville Funeral Home.

The Rev. Bruce Hay will officiate. Burial will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Trinity, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Hal Kooken, John Henry, Ritchie Harris, Bubba Barnes, Jim Haggard, Jody Van Dyke and Kurt Stephenson.

Mrs. Whitson died Saturday in Bryan.

She was born in Akron, Ohio, and was a teacher. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas and a master’s degree from Sam Houston State University. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Joy Sunday school class. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Raven Investment Club and was owner and manager of Highland Timber and Cattle Company.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Whitson; and a son, John Terrell Whitson.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Ann Whitson Nicholson and Rex Nicholson of Montgomery, Texas; a grandson, John David Nicholson of College Station, Texas; a sister, Rachel Wilson Drummond of Brentwood, Tenn.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Richard Wilson of Houston and Alford and JoAnn Wilson of Lebanon, Tenn.; and other family members.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Huntsville.
