Lannie Everett Ward

ARLINGTON -- Lannie Everett Ward, 53, a retired crane operator with BFW Construction, died Friday, May 9, 1997, at a Grand Prairie nursing home.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Huff- Slay Funeral Home in Pilot Point.

Burial: Belew Cemetery in Aubrey.

Visitation: Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials: Brain Bank, Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center, McLean Hospital, 115 Mill St., Belmont, Mass., 02178.

Lannie Ward was born June 2, 1943, in Tioga, Texas.

He was a graduate of Tioga High School and was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carrie and Reba McCollum Ward.

Survivors: Wife, Roberta Janie Scoggins, married in Tioga on Oct. 12, 1962; sons, Michael Ray Ward of Corpus Christi and James Bryan Ward of Arlington; adopted daughter, Monica Ward of Caddo Lake; sister, Frances Neely of Sherman; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Clarence "C P" Lohn, 85
Died: Wednesday, March 14, 2012, in Abilene, Texas
Clarence Lohn, known to many as C P, died Wednesday, March 14, in an Abilene, Texas medical center at the age of 85.

Born in Lohn, Texas on February 20, 1927, Clarence was the son of the late Lila Cleo (Turner) and Victor Roy Lohn. After serving in the U S Army for just over two years, he was discharged in 1956 at Fort Bliss (El Paso) Texas. He was a farmer at Lohn, Texas, and married icon Jane Massey on May 3, 1975 in Abilene.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Jane Lohn of Abilene; son, Victor Roy Lohn and wife Jeannie of Purcell, Oklahoma; daughter, Lyla Louise Bivens and husband Barry of Brady; two stepsons, Marshall Clements and wife Lauren of Odessa, and Curtis Wright of Cleburne; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held in Lohn Family Cemetery in Lohn, Texas at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 17, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Lohn, Richard Bivens, Burnice Shell, Larry Clements, Rod Haglund and Joshua Wellman.

The family would like to express a special thanks to Della and Cruz Loya and Anita Amador for all of their love and help over the years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels Plus, Food Bank of Abilene, or Lohn Valley Improvement Association.

KEENE -- J.D. Wilburn, 75, a retired painter, died Saturday, May 10, 1997, at a Dallas hospital.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Keene Memorial Park Chapel. Burial: Keene Memorial Park.

Memorials: Keene Seventh-Day Adventist Student Aid Fund, Keene, Texas 76059.

J.D. Wilburn was born May 10, 1922, in Goose Creek.

Survivors: Son, Jerry Wilburn of Joshua; daughter, Sandra Brown of Kilgore; sisters, Ruby Hampton of Denver, Colo., and Roma Wilburn of Houston; three grandchildren; and one great- grandchild.

Bertie Lee Williams

HALTOM CITY -- Bertie Lee Williams, 93, a teacher, died Monday, May 12, 1997, in Haltom City.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home.

Graveside service: 2 p.m. in Collinsville Cemetery in Collinsville.

Bertie Lee Williams was born Oct. 14, 1903, in Alabama.

She was the oldest of five children born to Oscar and Annie Williams.

Shortly thereafter her family moved to Sherman, Texas, where she lived most of her life.

She came to Fort Worth in April of 1990 to live with her sister.

Miss Williams dedicated her life to education and service to others.

She taught at Jefferson Elementary School in Sherman for 45 years and finished her career teaching for five years at St. Mary's Catholic School.

She was a volunteer with Medical Plaza in Sherman and put in more than 7,500 hours of service.

Miss Williams was a member of Parkview Church of Christ in Sherman and recently Birdville Church of Christ in Haltom City.

She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Birdville Association of Retired School Personnel and Daughters of the Confederacy.

Survivors: Sister, Margaret Boozer of Haltom City; sister-in-law; Gladys Williams of Richardson; and nieces, Barbara Baker of Haltom City and Ada Pearl Whitman of Athens; nephew, Ron Boozer of Haltom City; 12 great-nieces and nephews; and many great-great-nieces and nephews.

Ester Williams

FORT WORTH -- Ester Williams, 92, who retired after 50 years as a laundress, died Sunday, May 11, 1997, at a hospital.

Funeral:11 a.m. Thursday at Pilgrim Valley Missionary Baptist Church.

Burial: Cedar Hill Memorial Park.

Visitation: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Ester Williams was born July 26, 1904, in Fort Worth.

She was a charter member of Pilgrim Valley Missionary Baptist Church where she was church mother, president of the Deaconesses, president of the Never Fail Circle and secretary of Sunday School Class.

Survivors: Brother, Andrew Lock; and sister, Ruth Perkins.

Mary C. Wilson

FORT WORTH -- Mary C. Wilson, 80, a homemaker, died Sunday, May 11, 1997, in Paradise, Texas.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Laurel Land Funeral Home of Fort Worth.

Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park.

Mary Wilson, a lifelong Fort Worth resident, was born June 9, 1916.

She was a member of Gambrell Street Baptist Church and enjoyed travel and flower arranging.

She was very devoted to her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 12, 1995.

Survivors: Sons and daughters-in- law, Charles Lewis and Janice Wilson and John Loal and Janet C. Wilson, all of Paradise; daughter and son-in-law, Annetta and Marvin Sharber of San Antonio; brothers, Bill Lewis of Manning, La., and Furman Lewis of Portugal; sisters, Dorothy Schmalzried and Joyce Whisonant, both of Fort Worth, and Ruby Eagen of San Antonio; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Carolyn Ruth Scarborough, 67
Died: Friday, April 29, 2011, in Abilene, Texas
Carolyn Ruth Scarborough died on April 29, 2011. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, May 6, 2011 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.

Carolyn was born icon March 1, 1944 in Austin, Texas to John and Ruth Hunnicutt. She attended public school in Austin, Texas, and Texas Tech University in Lubbock. She later moved to Abilene, Texas and had been a resident for the last 45 years. She was a former member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and the Junior League of Abilene.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Louise Scarborough, her grandson, Michael Scarborough, her sisters Dodie Delaney and Joann Taylor, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Graham Scarborough-Davidson and both parents.

Memorials may be made to the Center for Contemporary Arts, 220 Cypress St., Abilene, TX 79601, or to your favorite charity.

STEPHENVILLE -- Pearl Wood, 90, a homemaker, died Sunday, May 11, 1997, at a Richardson medical center.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Stephenville Funeral Home.

Burial: Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Pearl Wood was born Nov. 2, 1906, in Oplin, Texas.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Stephenville.

She had lived in Stephenville for 50 years.

Survivors: Brothers, Grady Haynes of Abilene, Darrell Haynes of Lawn and Vaughn Haynes of Farmington, N.M.; sisters, Nannie May Bennett of Sweetwater and Ruby Mann of Pima, Ariz.; grandchild, Greg Brown and wife, Angela, of Richardson; and great- grandsons, the Rev. Brandon Trent Brown and wife, Natalie, of Wills Point, and Travis Wayne Brown of Richardson.
