WEATHERFORD -- Lester O. "Jack" Gillmore, 89, a retired restaurant owner, died Thursday, May 15, 1997, in Weatherford.

Lester Gillmore was born Oct. 21, 1907, in Palo Pinto County. Mr. Gillmore owned and operated a restaurant in the Graford community at one time and was a member of Graford Church of Christ.

Survivors: Wife, Wilma Gillmore of Weatherford; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rosie James-Smith was born Oct. 20, 1913, in Atlanta, Texas.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Ned James Jr. and Leonard J. James; two sisters; both of her husbands, Ned James Sr. and DeWitt Smith; and her parents, Arthur and Edna Hunter.

Survivors: Son, Willie B. James; daughters, Bobbie Caldwell, Rosetta Francis, Nelma Cole, Vernal Collins and Jerline White; brother, Ennis Hunter; sister, Ruth Woods; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great- great-grandchild.

AZLE -- Rose Karnes, 82, a gospel singer, died Tuesday, May 13, 1997, in Azle.

Funeral: 1 p.m. Friday at Outreach of Love Assembly of God Church. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Rose Karnes was born Dec. 31, 1914, in Gould, Okla. She was an original member of the Chuckwagon Gang, with whom she sang for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, R T Karnes.

Survivors: Sons, Richard T. Karnes of Azle and Randall C. Karnes of Roanoke; brothers, Clell Carter of Brandon, Eddie Carter of Bedford and Roy Carter of Meridian; sisters, Effie Davis of Baton Rouge, La., Anna Everett of Watauga, Ruth Ellen Yates of Aledo and Bette Goodwin of Richland Hills; eight grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren.

He was a member of Burleson Church of Christ. He was a barber and a veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Connie Jones. Survivors: Wife, Bonnie Medford of Burleson; sons, Louis Medford of Yakima, Wash., and Milton Tillison of Wheatland; daughters, Sandra George of McLean, Va., and Brenda Riley of Fort Worth; brother, R.O.
