Dewitt Womack
FORT WORTH -- Dewitt "Jack" Womack, 63, a retired delivery driver for the Fort Worth Star- Telegram, died Saturday, May 24, 1997, in North Richland Hills.

Graveside service: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Holder's Chapel Cemetery in Parker County. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Shannon North Funeral Home.

Dewitt Womack was born June 5, 1933, in Round Mountain, Ala. Mr. Womack retired from the Star-Telegram in 1995. He was a Korean War veteran, serving his country more than 14 years.

Survivors: Wife of 40 years, Betty Ann Womack of Fort Worth; son, Bobby Joe and wife, Darla, Womack of North Richland Hills; grandchildren, Marcus Womack and Patrick Womack; sister, Margie Reeves and husband, Aubrey, of Roswell, Ga.; brother, Harold and Sara Womack of Rome, Ga.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Mr. Woods was born Oct. 22, 1962, in Fort Worth. He was a graduate of Poly Technical High School.

Velma Osburn Barnes

FORT WORTH -- Velma Osburn Barnes, 76, who retired as a meat wrapper in 1976, died Sunday, May 25, 1997, at a Fort Worth residence.

Graveside service: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home.

Velma Osburn Barnes was born Sept. 17, 1920, in Fort Worth. She worked as a meat wrapper for Swift & Co. about 18 years. She also worked for 18 years for Worth Food Market and later at Piggly Wiggly for approximately two years and retired in 1976.

Survivors: Husband, B.R. Barnes of Fort Worth; sons, Kenneth Nicholson of Fort Worth and Donald Barnes of Fort Worth; daughters, Peggy Nelson of Arlington; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Edwin G. Carter
RICHLAND HILLS -- Edwin G. Carter, 83, a retired Air Force supply sergeant, died Sunday, May 25, 1997, at home.

Edwin G. Carter was born Nov. 6, 1913, in Christine. He grew up in Christine and enlisted in the Army Air Forces during World War II. He came to Fort Worth in the early 1960s and retired from the Air Force in 1965.

Survivors: Wife, Edna Carter of Richland Hills; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Bruce Correll; stepsons, Jack Clontz of Harold, Ark., and Richard Gibson of Conroe; one sister; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

BURLESON -- Shirley Jo Cowart, 63, a retired fleet sevices clerk for American Airlines, died Saturday, May 24, 1997, in Fort Worth.

Funeral: noon Tuesday at Laurel Land Funeral Home of Fort Worth. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park.

Shirley Jo Cowart was born Nov. 15, 1933, in Del Rio. She was a Baptist and a member of the American Airlines Kiwi Club. She had worked for American Airlines for 20 years.

Survivors: Son, Kevin Cowart of Hurst; parents, Jack and Myrtle Grimes of Burleson; sisters, Kay Buening of Burleson, Jeanie Sandlin of Fort Worth and Judie Miller of North Richland Hills; granddaughter, Misti Cowart; and several nieces and nephews.

Margarette Myrick Dalton
FORT WORTH -- Margarette Myrick Dalton, 87, a homemaker, died Friday, May 23, 1997, at a local care center.

Funeral: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park.

Honorary pallbearers: William E. Francis Jr., Walter "Lee" Lacy III, Troy Nokes and James E. Sharp Jr.

Margarette Dalton was born April 30, 1910, in Fort Worth and was a lifelong area resident. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church for 70 years. She was a volunteer for All Saints Episcopal Auxiliary and contributed more than 4,000 hours in devoted service to the hospital.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patsy Myrick DeForest, and sons, Arch L. "Bud" Myrick Jr. and Lawrence H. Dalton.

`Special gratitude to the staff of Renaissance Park for providing a "home away from home."

Appreciation to Dr. David P. Capper and staff of Family Hospice of Fort Worth, for believing in the total care of a person, which includes body, mind and soul.'

Abel F. Estrada Sr.
WATAUGA -- Abel F. Estrada Sr., 46, a crew leader for the North Richland Hills water management department, died Saturday, May 24, 1997, at a local hospital.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church.

Abel F. Estrada Sr. was born June 22, 1950, in Sterling City. He was employed 12 years as a crew leader in water management for North Richland Hills. He was a good man who was loved by all who knew him. He was a dedicated worker and family man who was always there to lend a helping hand. He left this world too soon, but has left an impression that will last a lifetime. He will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Estrada, and two brothers, David and Arnulfo Estrada.

Survivors: Wife, Janie Estrada; sons, Abel Estrada Jr. and Steven Michael Estrada; daughter, Rebecca Michelle Estrada; mother, Josefa Estrada; in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Patricio Rodriguez; brothers, Paul, Joe Jr., Victor, Armando, Elizard, Carlos, Mackey and Albert; sisters, Adelina and Dalia Estrada, Angie Herrera, Reynalda Martinez, Delia Badillo and Sulema Bastin; and granddaughters, Ysedora, Alexandrea, Miranda and Melissa.

James Leslie Franklin
AZLE -- James Leslie "Les" Franklin, 69, a retired quality assurance inspector for General Dynamics ockheed Martin, died Sunday, May 25, 1997, at a Fort Worth hospital.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Lakeside. Burial: Azleland Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Biggers Funeral Home.

Memorials: Salvation Army programs to feed the needy of our area.

Mr. Franklin was born Aug. 23, 1927, in Palo Pinto County.

He lived near Perrin most of his early years. He attended Perrin High School and Tarleton State University. He served in the Army in the Philippines during World War II. He had resided in Azle for 46 years and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Lakeside, where he also served as a deacon.

Survivors: Wife, Faye Brock Franklin of Azle; daughters, Gracie Franklin Bright of Fort Worth and Barbara Franklin Shen of Lake Worth; brothers, J.R. Franklin Jr. of Perrin and Harleth Franklin of Jacksboro; sisters, Bonnie Starnes of Stephenville, Doris White of Mineral Wells and Faye Morrow of Greenville; and grandchildren, Miss Dietra Stank and Christina, Cynthia and John Luther Shen III.

Mr. Gibson was born Oct. 31, 1930, in Raleigh, Miss., and was raised in Smith County, Miss. He served in both the Air Force and the Marine Corps. He lived in Leesville, La., for two years after leaving the service and had lived in the Fort Worth area since 1976.

Survivors: Wife, Melba L. Gibson of Fort Worth; sons, Bobby Ralph Gibson Jr. of Arlington, Michael Wayne Gibson of Springlake Heights, N.J., C. Edward Gibson of Grapevine and Stephen Joseph Gibson of Toms River, N.J.; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Hotelling of River Oaks; brothers, Joe Wendell Gibson of Hudson, Fla., Howard T. FORT WORTH -- Imogene Wolfe Greer, 85, died Sunday, May 25, 1997, in Fort Worth.

Imogene Wolfe Greer was born March 12, 1912, in Fort Worth. She was the daughter of John E. and Mayme Organ Wolfe, pioneer Fort Worth residents. She was the widow of Raymond E. Greer, with whom she was co-founder and owner of University Cleaners. She was a member of University Christian Church.

Survivors: Daughter, Rae Jean Seybold and her husband, Verne; sisters, Lucille Cason and Gladys Daniel, both of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Sharon Yeary of Fort Worth, Tricia Layfield of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Richard Seybold of Fort Worth; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

James David Hass

James David Hass was born Jan. 22, 1949, in Fort Worth. He was a Baptist. He was a 12-year veteran of the Special Forces in the Green Berets in Charlie Company in Vietnam.

Survivors: Daughters, Angela Murr of Fort Worth and Betty M. Hass of Shelby, N.C.; and parents, Betty and Herman Stolz of Fort Worth.
