Richard Allen Reed
MANSFIELD -- Richard Allen Reed, 51, a central office technician for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., died Sunday, May 25, 1997, in Mansfield as a result of a one-car accident that also claimed the life of his niece, Pamela Sue Himbury, 19, of Ponca City, Okla.

Memorial service: 2 p.m. Thursday at Blessing Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers: John Harvath, Mike Gilcrease, Jim Martin, Lloyd Cox, Bill Cumbie and Chuck Bodkin.

Richard Allen Reed was born Sept. 9, 1945, in Boston, Mass. He was raised in Melvin Village, N.H., and served his country in the Army in Vietnam.

Mr. Reed was a 29-year employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in the Fort Worth-Arlington area.

He married the love of his life, Rita "Jane" Tuggle, on July 4, 1984.

Rich shared a great love for life, tennis, fishing and sports cars with his friends and family.

His laughter will remain in the memories of all who loved him. His request made known to all of us was to raise a toast to him as we each remember an adventure shared with him, to laugh and not be sad.

He was preceded in death by his son, Scott Reed; mother, Marjorie Reed; and father, Norman Reed.

Survivors: Wife, Rita "Jane" Reed; son, John "Cody" Reed; brothers, Norman "Jack" Reed of Tuftonborough, N.H., Jim of Sharon, Vt., and Wayne of Albuquerque, N.M.; sister-in-law and his wife's twin sister, Jana Beth Tuggle of Ponca City, Okla.; in-laws, Shirley and Ted Rainbolt of Phoenix, Ariz.; brother- in-law, Richard Himburg of Ponca City; and his many friends.

HASLET -- Alton T. Riddick III, 42, an engineer with Lockheed, died Tuesday, May 27, 1997, at home.

Alton T. Riddick III was born Aug. 6, 1954, in Columbia, S.C.

He had been an area resident since 1989 and worked for Lockheed for 14 years.

Louise Ross
FORT WORTH -- Louise Ross, 77, a homeworker, died Monday, May 26, 1997, at a local hospital.

Funeral: noon Saturday at Greater Worth Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2108 McKinley Avenue, Fort Worth 76106. Burial: Cedar Hill Memorial Park in Arlington. Visitation: 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at Morris-Bates Mortuary.

Louise Ross was born April 28, 1920, in Frankston. Mrs. Ross had lived in this area for about 30 years. She moved here from Plainview. She was a member of the Greater Worth Hill Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastorship of Willie Ted Glynn.

She was a faithful Sunday school member, a member of Mission 1 and a member of the Senior Choir. She was a Senior Citizen Volunteer for two years and she worked at a day care nursery.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Mr. Henry "Buddy" Ross, on May 5, 1997.

Survivors: Daughters, Elvie Johnson of Odessa, Winnie Williams of Tyler, Sally Outley of Kansas City, Mo., Emma Ross of Fontana, Calif., and Lorene Gray of Fort Worth; 23 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and four great- great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.

William Russell Shannon
BEDFORD -- William Russell Shannon, 91, a retired production manager who had been with Westinghouse for 35 years, died Tuesday, May 27, 1997, in Hurst.

No services are planned.

Memorials: in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Multiple Sclerosis.

William Shannon was born April 28, 1906, in Pennsylvania. He lived most of his life in Hickory Township, Pa. He retired to Daytona Beach, Fla. He was a gentleman farmer and an active member of the Methodist church and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Mildred Hurd Shannon, and son, Kenneth Leroy Shannon.

Survivors: Daughter, Barbara Shannon Arquit and husband, Don, of Bedford; grandchildren, Laura Lee Miller and husband, John, of Hilton Head, S.C., Kelley Jeanne Hankins and husband, David, of Memphis, Tenn., and Ami Arquit-Edwards and husband, Marc, of Hurst; great-grandchildren, Brett Shannon Peterson of Hurst and John Miller III of Hilton Head, S.C.

ARLINGTON -- Virginia "Ginny" Shook, 73, a homemaker, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 1997, in Arlington.

Virginia "Ginny" Shook was born Aug. 29, 1923, in Denver, Colo.

Ginny lost her battle with cancer; however, she never allowed it to shatter her hope or cripple her love for her family and friends. She was a lifelong homemaker, companion and supporter of her husband in his long Air Force career.

Survivors: Her husband, Edward Shook; son, Ronald Shook and his wife, Cindy, of San Antonio; daughters, Kathy Hollis and her husband, Charlie, of Arlington, Donna Dee and her husband, Jim, of Lancaster, Calif., and Susan Schaefer and her husband, Curt, of Arlington; grandchildren, LeeAnn Rosen and her husband, Dana, of California, Trey Oliver of Arlington, Kimberly Oliver of Stephenville, Amie Breaud of Arlington and Donald Arthur of Arizona; and two great-grandchildren.

She exhibited a lifelong love of music as a piano teacher, choir member and church organist. She expressed an avid interest in literature.
