Evelyn Haltom Elliott Wright

Evelyn Haltom Elliott Wright, age 94, of Texarkana, Texas, died Thursday, September 18, 2008 at her residence.

Mrs. Wright was born January 26, 1914 at Nacogdoches, Texas. She was a Homemaker and a member of the Red Lick First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of almost 76 years, Homer Wright of Texarkana, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Quinton Stone of Spring, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Janelle Wright of Texarkana, Texas; four sisters, Corrine Smith of Cleveland, Texas, Thelma Wright of Houston, Texas, Jimmie Farrell of Irving, Texas, Lois Barber of Houston, Texas; one brother, Sam Elliott of Padre Island, Texas; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 20, 2008 at the Chapelwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Brinkley officiating. Burial was in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions can be made to the Red Lick First Baptist Church, 3370 FR 2148 N. Texarkana, TX 75503.

Jack Loftin

At the age of 68 and after a long battle with cancer, Jack Loftin went to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, October 4, 2008 at a Houston hospital.

He was a devoted husband of 49 years to Glenda Creel Loftin, and a loving and generous father to Teresa Himsel Minor and husband Todd, Jack Loftin Jr., Thomas Edward Loftin and wife Jessica, and Cassie Loftin Shepherd and husband Jason.

He was preceded in death by his father Artis E Loftin and survived by his mother, Estelle Loftin Cooper and step-father Walter. Siblings include James Lee Loftin and wife Carolynn, Earline Fulton and husband Charles, Merline Foglman and husband Robert and step-sister Betty Loyce Morgan and husband Walt. He is blessed with eleven grandchildren, Sarah Himsel Barr and husband Blake, Amanda Himsel, Andrew Himsel, James Minor, Stacy Minor, Cody Minor, Jack Loftin III, Kristin Loftin, Emily Robinson, Ashley Robinson, and Kendall Loftin-Laughlin. He was a life member and past Master of the Baytown Masonic Lodge #1357 and enjoyed traveling.

The family will receive friends at Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6 to 8 pm. A Celebration of Life will be Tuesday, 11:00 am at Crespo & Jirrels Chapel with Rev. Sam Hughes officiating and include full Masonic Rites. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Honoring the family as pallbearers will be the Masons. Honorary Pallbearers will the grandsons, Blake, Andrew, James, Jack III, Cody, and Kendall. Memorial donations may be made to Fisher Road Baptist Church, 8610 Fisher Road, Baytown, Tx. 77520. Arrangements have been entrusted to Crespo & Jirrels Funeral and Cremation Services, 6123 Garth Rd, Baytown, Texas 77521, 281-839-0700.

Willard Dickerson

Willard Cecil Dickerson, 83, of Baytown, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008.

He is preceded in death by L.T. and Maedell Dickerson, Vida and Arlis Taylor, Marshall and Barbara Dickerson, Jerry Dickerson, Corky Dickerson, and Ruth McDaniel.

He is survived by Frank and Faye Dickerson, Gloria and Forrest Boring, Dale and Ivy Dickerson and Nell Dickerson; five grandkids and seven great-grandkids.

The family would like to give special thanks to the many people who helped Dad by taking him to the doctor’s appointments and sitting with him during chemo and other treatments. Clinton McMicken, who is with us in spirit, was one of these very special friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, Oct. 6, 2008 from 6 to 8 pm at Earthman Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Road, Baytown, TX.

Services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at 11 am at Central Baptist, 1800 King Street. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens.

Serving as pallbearers will be George Whitaker, Larry Brennan, Rex Thain, Pete Enderli, Wayne Clements, Charles Guidry, Terry McDaniel and Larry Vinson. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Central Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central Baptist Church.

Rosemary Thomas

Rosemary Lawrence Thomas, 96, of Baytown passed away Tuesday,

September 9, 2008 in Baytown. Rosemary was born June 20, 1912 in Houston. She received her Bachelors of Science Degree from Sam Houston State University and was a school teacher for 10 years before marring the love of her life Arthur M. Thomas Jr. After moving to Baytown she was a substitute teacher for the Goose Creek ISD for 20 years. Rosemary was an accomplished artist working in oils and was a member of the China Painting Guild of Baytown. She loved gardening and raising African Violets. She was a member of the Daughters the Republic of Texas and Daughters of the American Revolution. She served two terms on the Harris County Grand Jury in the 1970’s.

Rosemary is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Hardie and Bettie Serene Milam Lawrence; husband, Arthur M. Thomas Jr.; brother, Hardie Rhea Lawrence and sister, Bettie Milam Gossett. She is survived by a son, Arthur M. Thomas III of Baytown; niece Bettie Jo Lemon; nephews, James Cary Gossett Jr. and Joseph Francis Lawrence and grandson Arthur M. Thomas IV.

Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2008 at Navarre Funeral Home with the Reverend Ken Goodell officiating. In lieu of usual remembrances memorials be made to the St. Joseph Indian School, Box 89, Chamberlain, SD 57325-0573

William Bogle

William Carrel Bogle, 85, of Baytown was born January 29, 1923 in Abner, OK and passed away Friday, October 3, 2008 in a local hospital. He was a member of the Seventh Street Church of Christ Church and was a retired shift supervisor for the J. M. Huber Corp. He proudly served in the U. S. Navy as a Navy/Marine Corps corpsman during WWII in the South Pacific Theater. He was en route to Saipan and Okinawa for the assaults on those beachheads when his ship was sunk by a Japanese kamikaze in the Leyte Gulf. He was then transferred to another ship and continued on to participate in the assault on Okinawa.

He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, David R. Brooks and is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dovie Bogle, daughter and son-in-law, Denise Brooks-Donaldson and Bruce Donaldson and sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Teri Bogle and Kim and Veronica Bogle, all of Baytown; sisters, Ruby Allgood of Fort Worth, Vonciel NgDung of Ohio and\ Wanda Bassinger of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Theresa Wells, Tim Bogle, Michael Bogle, Josh Brooks, Daniel Bogle, Felipe Bogle, James Donaldson and Kimberly Bogle; and great grandchildren, Austin Donaldson, Tamera West, Tiffany West, Zachary Bogle, Makenna Bogle, Hayden Bogle, Braydon Bogle and Chase Bogle.

His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Navarre

Funeral Home with Bradley Benoit officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at White Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Bogle, Tim Bogle, Daniel Bogle, Josh Brooks, Bruce Donaldson and Clint Kinney.

Edna Cortez

Edna May Cortez, 69, Beach City, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 3, 2008. She raised three children and was an avid reader; she loved historic and romance novels. She was a member of Trinity Tabernacle and a member of UAW. She was a loving mother and a devoted wife.

She was preceded in death by her son, Edward Gregory Cortez; siblings, B.H. Drury Jr., Shirley Joe Blair and Murrel Douglas Drury.

She is survived by son, Edwin Gerald Cortez Jr.; daughter, Tambria “Tammy” Cavonne Cortez; sister, Jimmie Louise Cook; niece, Vivian Leah McNeil and other numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, Oct. 6, 2008 from 6 to 8 pm at Earthman Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Road, Baytown, TX.

Services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at 10 am at Trinity Tabernacle, with Pastor Larry W. Hayes officiating. Burial will take place at 2 pm, at Houston National Cemetery.

Marlin Kaderli

Marlin “Andy” Kaderli, 85, of Highlands, TX passed away on Friday, October 3, 2008 at his home. Andy was born on December 25, 1922 in New Braunsfels, TX to the late Herman H. and Maudie Mae Kaderli. Andy enlisted in the United States Army in January of 1943. He served as a Private in the Company B Combat Battalion during WWII and was the recipient of the American Theater Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with 2 bronze stars and 1 bronze arrowhead, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon, and 3 Overseas Service Bars. He worked for Armco Inc. as a crane operator for 37years, was a member of the Baptist Temple in Baytown, TX and an avid Trail Rider. Andy is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, numerous brothers and his daughter-in-law Victoria Dean. He is survived by his loving wife Joyce (Bazzoon) Kaderli, of Highlands; children, Glenn Kaderli and wife Alice of Dayton, Sharon Gordon and husband Nelson of Cove, Cathy McFaddin and husband D.J. of Baytown, and Pamela Gordon and husband Glenn of Alabama. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, October 6, 2008 from 5-8PM at Sterling-White Funeral Home 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Rd. Highlands, TX 77562. Funeral Services are Monday, October 7, 2008 at 2PM at Sterling-White Funeral Home. Burial and Military Honors will follow in Sterling-White Cemetery.

Leslie McKenney

Leslie “Les” McKenney, 82, of Baytown was born March 6, 1926 in Smithville, VA and passed away Thursday, October 2, 2008 at his home. He was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Goose Creek Masonic Lodge #1192, Baytown Shrine Club and was a former member of the Baytown Jaycees, who he helped sponsor the Quack Shack back in the 1960’s. He was a U. S. Army Air Force WWII veteran and 1949 graduate of Baylor University. He worked in the radiology department at Baytown Hospital from 1952 until 1985 and was also an avid photographer, having taken many wedding photos in Baytown over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis H. and Hellen McKenney; brother, Willis H. McKenney Jr.; and grandson, Jonathan Hanna. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia “Jenny” McKenney of Baytown; daughters and son-in-law, Leslie Elaine and Joe Meeker and Helen Saxon, all of Dallas; sons and daughter-in-law, George Hampton “Hank” McKenney of Baytown and Micah and Donna McKenney of Deer Park; sisters and brother-in-law, Lynn Cherry of Paducah, KY and Jean Lancaster and Patricia and Richard Layton, all of Houston; and grandchildren, Nicolle Michalsky and husband Brad, Magdalyn McKenney, Bobby Meeker, James Meeker, Morgan Saxon and Natalie McKenney.

His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Graveside services will be Monday, October 6, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Trinity with Rev. Haril Walpole officiating.

Teddy Clough Sr

Teddy (Pa) Clough Senior born October 21, 1948 passed away October 1, 2008.

Pa was a loving husband and father. He was everyone’s Pa. He was a friend to all and a stranger to none. He loved to fish, karaoke, and spend time with his family, dogs and friends. Preceeded in death by his parents Cecil E. and Jewell A Clough, and brother Donald W Clough. Survived by wife Madeline Ann Clough; Sons Ted Clough Junior (Stacy) and James Clough (Doris); daughter Patricia A Sonntag (Johnny); grandchildren Randall Lee (Tabitha), Angela, Courtney, and Natalie; great-grandchildren Dakota Rose, Tristian Anthony and John Ashley; mother-in-law Mildred (Mama Zippe); brothers David Clough and family and Daniel Clough and family; and numerous nieces and nephews. See you on the water Dad!

Funeral services will be held at Sterling White Funeral Home, 11011 Crosby Lynchburg, Highlands, TX 77562 281-426-3555 Viewing: Sunday October 5, 2008 at 5PM.- 8 PM. Funeral Service: Monday October 6, 2008 2 PM.
