Bob Randall Pruden was born Dec. 16, 1921, in Waldo, Ohio. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, master sgt., 1st Air Wing Division serving during World War II in China and on the islands of Gilberts, Marshalls, Marianas and Philippines. He married Lou Vee Bridges on Sept. 19, 1987, in Dallas.

Survivors: Wife, Lou Vee Bridges of Paradise; son, Randy Pruden of California; daughter, Cherie Pruden of California; and brother, Neil Pruden of LaFollette, Tenn.

Rodney W,. Samson was born June 8, 1912, in Portland, Ore.

He was an Air Force veteran serving in World War II in the South Pacific Theater and the Korean Conflict. He received numerous medals of honor. He was most proud of the Bronze Star Medal. He operated his own automobile service shop in Fort Worth after leaving the Air Force in 1952.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and brother, as well as his son, Rodney Robert Samson.

Survivors: Wife, Mary Samson of Kennedale.

Alma Nell Shaw was born Sept. 18, 1918, in Montague County, Texas. She moved to Fort Worth in 1954, attended business school and raised her two daughters. She was employed as a bookkeeper with Texas Drug Co. for more than 30 years and retired in 1989. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth.

Survivors: Daughters, Rosemary Green and her husband, Ron, of Grand Prairie and Bobbie Gayle Cope of North Richland Hills; grandchildren, Dusty Shawn Hayes and her husband, Steve, of Coppell, William Christopher Floyd of Bedford and Robert Nicholas Floyd of Bedford; niece, Mary Blaha of Fort Worth; nephew, Gilbreath Adams of McKinney; and many other nieces and nephews.

FORT WORTH -- Sylvia Shilling, 81, a teacher and real estate agent, died Wednesday, June 11, 1997, in Fort Worth.

Sylvia Shilling was born Dec. 13, 1955, in Fort Worth. She was a member of the Woman's Club of Fort Worth (the 62 Club). She was a former member of the Bible Study Fellowship and Women's Medical Auxiliary of Fort Worth and a member of North Fort Worth Baptist Church and Broadway Baptist Church. She was a Texas Christian University alumni and a Fort Worth Opera Guild member.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melissa Rodrigs- Shilling, and her parents, John and Myrtle Flippen.

Survivors: Former husband, Harold Shilling, M.D.; son, Jon Shilling and his wife, Connie, of Fort Worth; daughter, Sharon Shilling Rodrigs of Fort Worth; and grandchildren, Luther Shilling and Lacey Shilling.

Herbert William Smith Sr.
HALTOM CITY -- Herbert William Smith Sr., 73, a retired food service director, died Monday, June 9, 1997, at a local hospital.

Memorial service: Was Wednesday at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. Father Daniel Kelley officiated. Inurnment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville.

Bert was born in Beirut, Lebanon, on Oct. 15, 1923, and moved to Lubbock, Texas, in 1961. He managed the Carriage House restaurant before moving to Galveston, where he retired as food and beverage director of the Galveston Country Club.

Bert was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors: Sons, H. Bill Smith of Plano, Barry Smith of Hurst and Bob Smith of Houston; daughter, Brenda Pierce of Tulsa, Okla.; brother, Gerald R. Smith of Tucson, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and 16 nieces and nephews.
