Gladys Shackelford was born Sept. 14, 1909, in Albany, Texas. She was a member of the Methodist Church. She was a resident of Weatherford for over 60 years.

Survivors: Sons, E.D. Shackelford and Billy Shackelford, both of Weatherford; daughter, Jo Barbe of Granbury; brothers, C.S. Simms of New Jersey and J.W. Simms of Garrison; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Christine Smith
FORT WORTH -- Christine Smith, 71, a homemaker, died Saturday, June 14, 1997, at a local hospital.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday at Williams Funeral Chapel. Burial: Skyvue Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Christine Smith was born to Zeke and Mattie Richmond in Gilman, Texas, on June 4, 1926. She moved to Fort Worth and attended James E. Guinn School. Later she met and married Jesse Smith in 1946.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Milton and Terry Smith.

Survivors: Loving husband, Jesse Smith Sr.; daughters, Marilyn Bastise and Frankie Smith; sons, Jesse Jr. and wife, Carolyn, Norman, Daryl, and daughter-in-law, Beverly Smith; 12 grandchildren. She leaves five wonderful nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Tennie Bell Smith was born July 1, 1917, in Boonsville.

MCKINNEY -- Jerry Bruce Staton, 57, a loving husband and father, passed away Sunday, June 15, 1997, in McKinney, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at Restland Funeral Home of Dallas. Burial: Restland Memorial Park. Family to receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Jerry Bruce Staton was highly respected and admired. He will always be a tremendous inspiration to his family and many friends, for his strength, courage and will to live. Jerry was an avid fly fisherman, golfer and loved bird hunting and flying. Jerry had a distinguished career and was involved in numerous civic activities which includes 13 years with PPG Industries and president of Regal Glass, Inc. He was president of the Little League Baseball Association in Muncie, Ind., president of Boswell High School Booster Club and a life member, Saginaw, Texas, a member of the school board in Eagle Mountain, Saginaw, a member of the board of directors at Camp Carter, YMCA, Fort Worth, a member of Colonial Country Club of Fort Worth, National Glass Dealers Association and a member of Stonebridge Country Club. He was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor degree in architecture.

Survivors: Jerry is survived by his wife, Joanna Staton of McKinney; sons, Scott Staton of Jacksonville, Fla., Todd Staton of Sanger and Eric Staton of Decatur; daughter, Kristi Evers of Tulsa, Okla.; mother, Charlotte Bradley of Evansville, Ind., father, Vernon Staton of Hendersonville, Tenn.; and seven grandchildren.

Joseph Ainsworth Tilley III was born Feb. 25, 1963, in Fort Worth. His education consisted of the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird Campus) in Glendale, Ariz., in 1988; Texas Christian University in Fort Worth with a degree in finance in 1986; and Fort Worth Country Day School in Fort Worth in 1981. Previously he was a presidential appointee in the Agriculture Department during the Bush administration. He was a member of the Fort Worth Club, Steeplechase, Kappa Sigma fraternity and the Beefeaters Club.

Mr. Tilley was a loving husband, son, brother and friend.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Jones Tilley.

Survivors: Wife, Elizabeth "Libby" Durham Tilley, whom he married in 1992; his father, Joe A. Tilley Jr.; sisters, Gwen Tilley Morgan and her husband, Christopher H. Morgan, of Gates Mills, Ohio, and Ann Tilley Smith and her husband, Samuel B. Smith Jr., of Fort Worth; sister-in-law, Ginger Durham of Dallas; and nieces and nephews, Christopher and Katharine Morgan of Gates Mills and Samuel and Olivia Smith of Fort Worth.

James T. Willis
IRVING -- James T. Willis, 37, a wonderful husband, loving and dedicated father of two, and attentive and caring son and brother, was united with his Savior and Lord on Monday, June 16, 1997, at a Dallas hospital after waging a courageous three-year battle with leukemia.

Memorial service: 2 p.m. Thursday at Highland Park Presbyterian Church. His family wishes his memorial service to be a celebration of his life and of his presence with the Holy Father in heaven. Private burial: Hillcrest Memorial Park. Open visitation: at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home in Dallas. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Jim was born Sept. 11, 1959, in Austin and was raised in Borger. He graduated with highest honors from the University of Texas at Austin, where he majored in business and earned both BBA and MBA degrees. Following his graduation in 1983, Mr. Willis was employed by Arthur Andersen in Dallas where he worked throughout his professional career. He married Margaret de Pingre on Nov. 3, 1990.

Mr. Willis was actively involved in numerous charitable organizations, including the Leukemia Society of Dallas. He served as chairman of the recent Links Fore Leukemia golf tournament, in which he played 100 holes of golf in a single day, on April 28, 1997, to raise funds for rsearch for a cure to leukemia. Mr. Willis also served on the board of the Dallas Cystic Fibrosis Society and was a member of the Texas Society of CPAs.

Mr. Willis was an active member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church, where he taught Sunday school and led a Bible-study group. He will be remembered by his colleagues, family and friends as a tender-hearted, loving, patient gentleman of the highest Christian moral principles. He will be sorely missed.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Wanda Wiedeman.

Survivors: His wife, Margaret de Pingre Willis and their two children, Lauren Michele, 5, and Matthew James, 2, all of the Las Colinas area in Irving; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne T. Willis of Fort Worth; sister and brother-in-law, Linda Willis McLaren and Kevin McLaren of Arlington; his maternal grandfather, Dr. John E. Wiedeman of Dallas; a great- grandmother, Mrs. J.B. Willis, and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elden M. Jett, all of Missouri; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

AZLE -- Audrey V. Willmon, 73, a retired boot finisher, died Monday, June 16, 1997, at a Fort Worth hospital.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

Audrey V. Robinson Willmon was born May 16, 1924, in Paris, Texas, to William T. and Annie Robinson. She was a resident of Azle, Texas.

She had retired from Justin Boot Co. in 1984. She married S.A. "Jack" Willmon on June 4, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1985.

Survivors: Son, James A. Willmon; daughters, Lois Traffanstedt of Azle, Linda Robertson of Blue Mound, Elizabeth Swanson and Jeannette Willmon, both of Azle; brothers, Ellis Robinson of Seagraves and Rex Robinson of Sawyer, Kan.; sisters, Lucille Canida of Dallas, and Wanda Schrum and and Carlis Lindsey, both of Kingman, Kan.; grandchildren, James D. Willmon, Lisa Rodden, Duane Traffanstedt, Melissa McMurray, Audrey Freeman, Tara Merrell, Samantha Echols, Kathy Crain and Carli Willmon; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Epitacio V. Zamora was born May 23, 1912, in Mexico City, Mexico. He worked for Texas Christian University for 15 years after retiring from Lone Star Gas.

Mr. Zamora was preceded in death by a sister, Guadalupe Pantoja, and brother, Jose Zamora.

Survivors: His wife, Genoveva G. Zamora of Fort Worth; sons, Salome Zamora, Jose Ramon Zamora, Luis Zamora and Steven Zamora, all of Fort Worth; daughters, Patricia Guereca, Rosa Linda Gonzalez and Rachel Martinez, all of Fort Worth; 24 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
