GRANBURY -- Arthur Gillam "Gil" Cochrane, 90, an office manager for Mercer Construction Co., died Friday, July 4, 1997, at a Granbury care center.

Mr. Cochrane was born April 19, 1907, in Morenci, Ariz. He was a member of Odd Fellows and Knights of Pythias in Globe.

Survivors: Sons and daughters-in- law, Arthur Gillam Jr. and Mona Cochrane of San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Allan Gene and Jo Ann Cochrane of Granbury; sister, Dorothy Maiter of Globe; six grandchildren; 11 great- grandchldren; one great-great- grandchild; three nieces and two nephews.

Ruby Geneva Coffman
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Ruby Geneva Coffman, 94, a registered nurse, died Saturday, July 5, 1997, at a Fort Worth hospital.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Saint Stephen Presbyterian Church.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Stephen Presbyterian Memorial Church Fund.

Ruby Coffman was born March 26, 1903, in Oakland City, Ind. She was a resident of Fort Worth and Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. She was a member of the Fisher Class at Saint Stephens Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by husband, Edgar S. Coffman.

Survivors: Son, Edgar D. Coffman of McLean, Va.; daughter, Harriet Anne Phillips of Fort Worth; grandchildren, James E. Phillips and wife, Melissa, of Fort Worth, Richard A. Phillips and wife, Rosalba, of Meridian and Katherine Anderton and husband, Charles, of Fort Worth; and eight great-grandchildren.

Harold A. Dobson
FORT WORTH -- Harold A. Dobson, 83, a retired dairy pasteurizer, died Saturday, July 5, 1997, in Hurst.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Olivet Chapel. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Harold Dobson was born April 9, 1914, in Guthrie, Okla. He was a resident of Fort Worth 49 years. He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran. He worked for Vandervoort's Dairy for 31 years until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of the Fort Worth Iris Society, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Diamond Hill United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by wife of 47 years, Mary Ruth Dobson.

Survivors: Daughter and son-in-law, Martha Ann and John Crawford of Fort Worth; granddaughter, Johnna Maree Crawford; sister-in-law, Laverne Dobson of Sapulpa, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Evans Tyree Dozier
FORT WORTH -- Evans Tyree Dozier, 79, a retired maintenance employee for 50 years at A.C. Luther Co., now Ridgelea Interests, died Thursday, July 3, 1997, at his home in Fort Worth.

Funeral:11 a.m. Tuesday at Johnson Chapel AME Church. Burial: Cedar Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church.

Mr. Dozier was born Sept. 12, 1917, in Chilton.

Survivors: Wife of 58 years, Louella Dozier; son, Clarence Dozier (Martha); daughter, Vivian Washington (Elmo); sisters, Zedora Landrum and Ethel Roberts; grandchildren, Clarence Jr. and Cedric Evans, Deborah Jackson (Jason), Tyran Heilig (Leonard), Elmo Washington Jr.; and great- granddaughter, Dasondria Jackson.

MANSFIELD -- Helen M. Dunkel, 98, a retired railroad clerk, died Friday, July 4, 1997, at a Burleson nursing home.

Helen Dunkel was born Feb. 17, 1899, in Winsted, Conn. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mansfield.

Survivors: Daughter, Elise Constantino and husband, Frank, of Mansfield; three grandchildren and six great- grandchildren.

Earnestine Davis Earl
FORT WORTH -- Earnestine Davis Earl, 88, a teacher, died Friday, July 4, 1997, at a Fort Worth hospital.

Graveside service: 2 p.m. Monday in Greenwood Memorial Park.

Memorials: charity of choice.

Earnestine Earl was born Sept. 9, 1908, in Winters.

She taught elementary classes for 10 years in the Fort Worth Independent School District. She was a member of the Fort Worth Woman's Club, the Friday Lecture Group, the Fort Worth Garden Club and the First United Methodist Church. She had been a life-long resident of Fort Worth, since she moved with her parents, Mattie Church Davis and W.E. Davis from Ranger.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman T. Earl in 1986.

Survivors: Daughter, Carolann Earl Krause of Houston.

Bill Engle
BEDFORD -- Bill Engle, 70, a retired coach and teacher, passed away Saturday, July 5, 1997, at his Bedford home.

Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Colleyville. Interment : Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville. Visitation: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Chism & Smith Funeral Home in Irving. Rev. Paul Gomez will officiate.

Bill Engle was born Oct. 11, 1926, in Greenville. He had been a resident of Bedford since 1969, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Colleyville.

Mr. Engle attended Greenville High School where he lettered in basketball all four years, played on the All-State Football Team in 1944, Texas High School All-Star Game in 1945 and Texas-Oklahoma All-Star Game in 1945. He was captain of the football team for two years, and set a Greenville High School record in 1944 by scoring 121 points in the football season. He is in the Greenville High School Sports Hall of Fame.

After graduating in 1945, Mr. Engle served in the Merchant Marines, and then attended Texas A&M University where he lettered in football in 1946. Mr. Engle then served in the Army. Following his tour in the Army, he attended East Texas State University, where he was an All-Conference player, captain, most valuable player in 1949 and was a Little All-American player.

Following his graduation from East Texas State University in 1951, he served in the U.S. Air Force where he started his coaching career at Sheppard Air Force Base. Mr. Engle served as an assistant coach at East Texas State University, head coach of Wills Point High School, assistant coach at Galveston Ball High School and Irving High School, head coach at Cuero High School and retired from coaching as an assistant coach at Trinity High School in 1975. He retired from teaching in 1986 from Trinity High School.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Moody Engle, and parents, Oscar Elmo and Alberto Engle.

Survivors: Son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Susan Engle of Bedford; grandchildren, Erin Patricia Engle, Julia Nicole Engle, William Thomas Engle III and Charles Wesley Engle, all of Bedford; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Wanda Engle of Garland; niece, Leigh Rose Moffet of Flower Mound; and nephew, Col. William T. Nance of Copperas Cove.

Charles D. Farrow, Jr.
ERIE, Pa. -- Charles D. Farrow Jr., 67, a general, thoracic and cardio-vascular surgeon, died Tuesday, July 1, 1997, at a Pennsylvania hospital.

Memorial service: 3 p.m. Thursday at Burton Funeral Home, 602 West 10th Street, in Erie, Penn.

Charles Farrow was born April 5, 1930, in Erie, Penn., to the late Dr. Charles D. Farrow, Sr. and Margaret Westfall Farrow. He was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University in 1950 and Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1954. He earned his Master of Science in Surgery degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1958. He was a general, thoracic and cardio-vascular surgeon in Florida, Ohio, Germany, Holland, Pennsylvania and Texas.

He was a member of the American Osteopathic Association, a life member of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, American College of Emergency Physicians, American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians and the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, Thoracic and Cardiovascular Section.

He was also a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, Phi Sigma Gamma fraternity, was past president of Texas Society of Osteopathic Surgeons and was named to Who's Who in Texas, 1973- 1974. He served as president of the Fort Worth Amateur Hockey Association. He was a fan of all sports, a devoted listener of jazz and big band music, a lifelong dance enthusiast and a student of history.

He was preceded in death by wife, Pauline Landon Farrow, in 1993.

Survivors: Daughters, Wendy Farrow Raines and husband, Franklin, of Washington, D.C., and Kathy Lynn Farrow of Reston, Va.; son, Charles D. Farrow III, of Fort Worth; brother, Donald C. Farrow and his wife, Molly, of Miami Shores, Fla.; grandchildren, Laura, Andrea and Sarah Pauline Raines; and many nieces and nephews.

ARLINGTON -- Marvin G. Fenner, 66, who retired from working in quality control, died Friday, July 5, 1997, in Arlington.

Marvin G. Fenner was born April 25, 1931, in Sheboygan, Wis. He was longtime Arlington resident. He was a retired government employee.

Survivors: Wife of 43 years, Flossie Fenner of Arlington; daughters, Debra Travis of Hurst, Peggy Brandy of Arlington, Teresa Brown of Pagosa Springs, Colo., Patricia Kroutil of Euless and Susan Houters of Arlington; brother, Carl Fenner of Plymouth, Wis.; and 11 grandchildren.

Howard R. Franklin
KELLER -- Howard R. "Pete" Franklin, 57, a wonderful husband and loving father of six, passed away Friday, July 4, 1997, at home, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral:1 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Keller. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Tuesday in Kensett Cemetery in Kensett, Ark.

Pallbearers: Jim Beckman, Norman Hardee, Mike Birmingham, Jim Hensley, Chuck Dickinson, Hector Gonzales, Bill Agerton, Lee Bauwens and Henry Jarvis.

Memorials: American Cancer Society.

Mr. Franklin was born July 18, 1939, in Kensett, son of Earion and Lila Franklin, who preceded him in death. He graduated from North Little Rock High School and attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He was an Air Force veteran. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Keller.

For more than 20 years, Howard worked for Beckman Construction Co. in Fort Worth, where he was highly respected by his co-workers, business associates, friends and neighbors. He was vice president of Beckman Construction Company. To all who met him, he was a man of wisdom, patience and understanding and truly a great listener.

Survivors: Wife, Fay A. Franklin of Keller; daughter, Anna Franklin of Arlington; son, Tom Franklin of Fort Worth; stepchildren, who adored him and respected his guidance for 29 years, Sheree Castaneda and husband, Dan of Pasadena, Julie Barton and husband, David of Ball Ground, Ga.; Randall Houghlin of Keller and Jeff Houglin and wife, Connie of North Richland Hills; sisters, Linda Baker of Hobart, Ind., and Martha Sheridan of North Bend, Ore.; brother, Gilbert Franklin of North Little Rock, Ark.; seven grandchildren, Karen and Derek Castaneda, Jonathan, Adam and Will Barton and Kelly and Alison Houghlin; and many loving friends, neighnbors and co- workers at Beckman Construction Co..

Virginia F. Goddard
FORT WORTH -- Virginia Faye "Jenny" Goddard, 80, a retired Kings Candy supervisor, died Friday, July 4, 1997, in Fort Worth.

Graveside service: 11 a.m. Monday in Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Virginia Goddard was born May 23, 1917, in Texas. She worked as a supervisor for Kings Candy until her retirement in 1975. Following this, she continued to hand-make bows for Texas Packaging.

Ms. Goddard was preceded in death by her husband, Claude F. Goddard on Feb. 14, 1977.

Survivors: Son, Gordon L. Price of Mingus; daughter, Beverly Sue Muggli of Everman; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
