IRVING -- John Edward Cumberledge, 44, a security officer, died Thursday, July 3, 1997, in Dallas.

Mr. Cumberledge was born Sept. 20, 1952, in Anmoore, W.Va.

Mary Lou Dillard
NEW YORK CITY -- Mary Louise Keahey Dillard, 84, wife of the late Guy Conway Dillard, died Friday, June 27, 1997, in New York City after a long illness.

Mrs. Dillard was a secretary with the Fort Worth school district for many years. She was a longtime Fort Worth resident.

Memorials: Japanese Garden at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden.

Survivors: Her sister, Betty Barnes of Dallas; daughters, Betsy Zelenko and Jane Griner of New York City; and grandchildren, Mason Miller of Chengdu, China, Lena Faber of New York City, Julia Griner of Milan, Italy, Benjamin Milam of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Joanna Griner of New York City.

Gordon H. Duncan
FORT WORTH -- Gordon H. Duncan, 84, a retired aeronautical engineer, died Thursday, July 10, 1997, at a Fort Worth hospital.

Graveside service: 10 a.m. Monday in Greenwood Memorial Park. He will lie in state from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood Funeral Home.

Memorials: charity of choice.

Gordon Duncan was born March 13, 1913, in Camden Point, Mo.

He retired from General Dynamics in 1978 after 42 years of service and was a member of the General Dynamics Management Club Retirees. Mr. Duncan was a member of the Fort Worth and Dallas Model A Ford Clubs. He was also a member of Ridglea Presbyterian Church.

Survivors: Wife of 60 years, Lucile P. Duncan of Fort Worth; sons, Gordon H. Duncan Jr. and James P. Duncan, both of Fort Worth; grandchildren, John G. Duncan, Shanna Duncan and Drew Duncan, all of Fort Worth, Courtney Duncan of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Cheryl Duncan of Fort Worth; and great- granddaughters, Casey Duncan and Caitlin Duncan, both of Fort Worth.

Robert H. Dunnavant
MINERAL WELLS -- Robert H. "Bob" Dunnavant, 74, a retired Air Force pilot, died Tuesday, July 8, 1997, at home.

Funeral: was Thursday at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. Burial: Arlington National Cemetery.

Robert H. "Bob" Dunnavant was born June 30, 1923, in Richmond, Va.

He was a member of "Order of Daedalians, Inc.," a pilot's organization, and a member of the Baptist church.

Survivors: Son, Robert Dunnavant; daughters, Barbara Ann, Pat J., Pam J., and Jo Ann Dunnavant; brother, Emmett Dunnavant Jr.; sister, Carroll Lerz; grandchildren, Kelly, Rocky, and Jamie Dunnavant; several nieces and nephews; and aunt, Esther Bastine.

Wayne Evans
IRVING -- Wayne Evans, 72, a retired photographer, artist and air brusher, died Wednesday, July 9, 1997, at an Irving hosptial.

Funeral: 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Plymouth Park Baptist Church in Irving. Burial: Smithfield Cemetery. Visitation: noon to 8 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst.

Wayne Evans was born Dec. 12, 1924, in Munday.

He was a member of Plymouth Park Baptist Church. He started his career as an artist and photographer with Hall Gentry Studios, where he worked for 13 years. He then went to Meisel Photochrome where he worked many years as an airbrush supervisor and printing department manager. He completed his career and retired after working for Corrective Color and Prints Unlimited.

Survivors: Wife, Lois Evans of Irving; sisters, Doris Evans, Minnie Nutt and Nellie White; and aunt, Ada Fay Raif.

Nellie Lefaye Hatcher was born April 3, 1942, in Whitewright. She had lived in the area for 35 years and was a member of Christ Temple Church of God in Christ.

Survivors: Husband, David Hatcher of Fort Worth; daughter and son-in-law, Nicole Renee Hatcher and Tyrone Collins of Fort Worth; brother, Tommy Williams of Fort Worth; sisters, Shirley Brown of Dallas and Ruth Spratt of Sherman; grandchild, Xavier Collins of Fort Worth; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many friends.

Victor "Vic" Holland
FORT WORTH -- Victor "Vic" Holland, 74, a supervisor who retired from General Dynamics in 1990 after 48 years, died Thursday, July 10, 1997, at a local hospital.

Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. Burial: Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Victor Holland was born May 18, 1923, in Limestone County, Texas. He was a charter member of King of Glory Lutheran Church and was a member of Handley Masonic Lodge No. 1140. He served in U.S. Navy during World War II in San Diego, where he married his wife of 54 years, Ouida. They celebrated their anniversary yearly with their friends Nina and Leon Miller.

He was preceded in death by a brother, J.R. Holland, and a sister, Lila Mae Gauntt.

Survivors: Wife of 54 years, Ouida Holland; daughters, Barbara Basham, Glenda Appleby and Vicki Nichols, all of Fort Worth; brother, Luther L. Holland of Alba; sister, Vanita Hulse of Waco; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

CLEBURNE -- Ruby L. Hunt, 93, a homemaker, died Tuesday, July 8, 1997, in Cleburne.

Ruby L. Hunt was born Oct. 5, 1903, in Sand Flat Community in Johnson County.

Survivors: Son, Travis J. Pipes Sr.; brother, Jim Venable; sister, Bernice Billingsley; 13 grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren.

Phyllis Nowlin Jacobs
HOUSTON -- Phyllis Nowlin Jacobs, 97, died Tuesday, July 8, 1997, at a Houston hospital.

Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park.

Phyllis Nowlin Jacobs was born in Mount Vernon, Iowa, on Feb. 1, 1900, to Dr. and Mrs. Alonzo Cass Tenney. The family moved to Chicago soon after. She attended Ferry Hall, then Northwestern University, where she met Henry Bryant Nowlin. They were married Oct. 24, 1924, and the couple moved to Fort Worth -- Bryant's hometown -- where she lived for 59 years. Bryant died in 1972. Phyllis was very active in the community and in patriotic causes. She was a member of the Woman's Club of Fort Worth, Monday Book Club, Mary Isham Keith DAR (75 years), Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and the symphony and opera auxiliaries. In 1983, she married Donald Henning Jacobs and they lived in Denver, Colo., for three-plus years. After Donald's death, Phyllis moved to Houston to be near her daughter, Beryl, and son-in-law, Hank McCleary.

Survivors: Her daughter and son-in- law and their children, their spouses and the grandchildren, Gail McCleary Craft and Jim Craft of San Antonio, Glenn, Lana and Makai McCleary of Breckenridge, Colo., Neil, Kris, Ryan and Erin McCleary, who are moving from Houston to Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, and Paul McCleary of Albuquerque, N.M.; and nephew, Wade Nowlin and his family, the family of nephew Clark Nowlin and the P.D. Henry family, all of Fort Worth.

FORT WORTH -- Ouida I. Johnson, 88, a retired teacher, died Monday, July 7, 1997, at a local nursing center.

WEATHERFORD -- C.H. Jones, 85, a retired theater owner, died Wednesday, July 9, 1997, in Fort Worth.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Weatherford. Burial: Sanger Cemetery in Sanger.

C.H. Jones was born Dec. 17, 1911, in Sanger. He was the owner and operator of Jones Theatres in Weatherford from 1941 to 1975; including four downtown theaters, as well as one of the first drive- ins in Texas. He was a member of First Baptist Church, life member of the Pioneer Theater Owners, 50 years plus member of Knights of Pythias and was an active leader for many years.

Survivors: Wife, Bertha Mae Jones of Weatherford; daughter and son-in-law, Roberta and Buzz Furman of Weatherford; and granddaughter and husband, Carla and Sid Johnson of Weatherford.
