Ernest Jerry Dennis
SAMSON PARK -- Ernest Jerry Dennis, 57, a printer, died Friday, July 11, 1997, at home.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Ernest Dennis was born Aug. 23, 1939, in National City, Calif. He was the fourth of five children born to Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Dennis. He came to Fort Worth with his family when he was three years old and has been a resident since. Ernest was deeply loved by his family and will be sorely missed.

Survivors: Sons, Jerry Dennis of Arlington and Jimmy Dennis of Fort Worth; daughters, Deborah Abbott and Cynthia Kimball, both of Fort Worth; parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Dennis of Fort Worth; brother, Bill Dennis of Fort Worth; sisters, Marge Precise of Arizona, Aline McMinn of Arlington and Sylvia Underwood of Saginaw; eight grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Myrtle Mae Dunn
CLEBURNE -- Myrtle Mae Dunn, 85, a homemaker, died Thursday, July 10, 1997, at a Cleburne nursing home.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at Crosier- Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home in Cleburne. Burial: Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Officiants: the Rev. Noble Pearce and the Rev. Danny Vidler.

Myrtle Dunn was born Aug. 31, 1911, in Peoria.

She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Johnson County. She was a long time resident of Johnson County.

Survivors: Husband, W.K. Dunn of Cleburne; daughters and sons-in-law, Florence Dunn and Paul Holibaugh of Cleburne, Florence Dunn and Wayne Hadley of Joshua, Dorris Dunn and Bobby Ward of Cleburne; brother, Clyde Hope of Cleburne; sister, Pearl Borden of Cleburne; and grandchildren, Kemper Edgin of Ozark, Ark., and Dwana Edgin Phillips of Charleston, Ark.

James E. Durham
ATLANTA, Ga. -- James E. Durham, 69, a retired district manager for Syntech Laboratories, died Sunday, June 22, 1997, in Atlanta.

Memorial service: 4 p.m. Saturday, July, 19, at H.M. Patterson/Spring Hill Chapel in Atlanta.

James E. Durham was born Feb. 10, 1928, in Archer City, Texas.

He had resided in Atlanta since 1968 after he was promoted as district manager of Borden Pharmaceuticals. He was a graduate of North Side High School in Fort Worth and attended TCU. He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fort Worth and president of the congregation at the time of his transfer to Atlanta.

Survivors: Wife, Diane Durham of Atlanta; daughter, Sarah Durham Depriest of Fort Worth; sons, Jim Durham of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and John Durham of Vancouver, Wash.; sister, Janette Maloney of Hurst; grandchidlren, Anthony Langione and Rhett Ponder; two great- grandchildren; and stepchildren, Bob Swanson and Jane Swanson.

SANGER -- Clara "Kay" Eiland, 81, a homemaker, died Friday, July 11, 1997, at a local nursing center.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday at Shannon North Funeral Chapel. Burial: Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at at the funeral home.

Officiant: Mr. George Gray of the Westworth Church of Christ.

Clara "Kay" Eiland was born Sept. 2, 1915, to John and Clara Miller Green. She was a longtime member of the Westworth Church of Christ.

Survivors: Son, Don Eiland; and three grandchildren, Glen Eiland, Scot Eiland and Matt Eiland.

Doris Evans was born March 29, 1935, in Ashland, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Evans.

Survivors: Sons, James W. Evans of Haslet, Tom Evans of Rhome and Tim B. Evans of Blue Mound; daughters, Denise Northington of Haslet and Jeanette Pittman of Saginaw; sisters, Pat McGann, Dorothy Shoemake and Carole Unruh, all of Enid, Okla.; 16 grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren.

Edred Newton Everett
FORT WORTH -- Edred Newton Everett, 86, a retired USDA Soil Conservation Service engineer, died Tuesday, July 8, 1997, at a hospital in California.

Funeral: none planned. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park.

Mr. Everett, a beloved father and grandfather and a resident of Fort Worth for 33 years, passed away July 8 after having had surgery on June 20. He was born to Louise Mayle and James Newton Everett on Aug. 3, 1910, in Pacific, Mo. He graduated from high school in Pacific before attending Central College and Missouri School of Mines, where he graduated with a civil engineering degree in 1933. He retired from the USDA Soil Conservation Service in 1977 after 42-plus years of service.

He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and the American Society of Civil Engineers. He was a Texas-registered professional engineer.

Mr. Everett was preceded in death by his wife of 57-plus years, Mary, in 1995.

Survivors: Son, Roger Everett of Livermore, Calif.; daughter, Karen Preston of Durango, Colo.; sister, Gwyneth Darling of Jefferson City, Mo.; and grandchildren, Julie Everett of Danville, Calif., Jill Hornbeck of Livermore, and Nicholas Preston and Amanda Preston, both of Durango.

Edna Garnett
FORT WORTH -- Edna Grace Whitehurst Garnett, 83, a retired registered nurse and former chief nurse at Harris Hospital, died Thursday, July 11, 1997, in Fort Worth.

Graveside service: 10 a.m. Monday in Greenwood Memorial Park. Dr. Charles Sanders will officiate. Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home.

Edna Grace Whitehurst Garnett was born Aug. 6, 1913, in Gordon, Ga., and had resided in Fort Worth since 1937. She graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in 1934. She was a member of University Christian Church, Junior Women's Club, Senior Women's Club and the Dinner Dance Club.

She was the widow of John Wilson Garnett Jr., M.D.

Survivors: Sons, John W. Garnett III, D.D.S., and his wife, Nancy, and Richard E. Garnett, Ph.D., and his wife, Susan, all of Fort Worth; daughter, Mary Kathryn Garnett of Macon, Ga.; and five grandchildren.

Lamar Goodwin
FORT WORTH -- Lamar Goodwin, 65, a self-employed automotive mechanic, died Thursday, July 10, 1997, in Fort Worth.

Mr. Goodwin was born April 27, 1932, in Arkadia, Ark. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 1100, and American Legion Post No. 97.

Survivors: Wife, Judy Goodwin of Fort Worth; daughter, Samantha Starkes of Granbury; mother and stepfather, Marie and Jim Kyler of Stonewall, La.; brothers, Gerald B. James Gordon was born June 28, 1925, in Aquilla. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lakeside and Stockyard Masonic Lodge No. 1244. He married Ruthie Fay Burch on March 3, 1944, in Hillsboro. He retired from General Dynamics in 1986.

Survivors: Wife, Ruth Gordon of Azle; sons, Sam Gordon and wife, Martha, of Mansfield and James D. "Bo" Gordon of Lake Worth; daughters, Brenda Barton and husband, Melvin, of Reno and Mary Laird and husband, Jim, of Azle; brother, John D. Gordon of Waxahachie; sister, Armede Terrell of Whitney; grandchildren, Lee Barton of Fort Worth, Anson and Alan Gordon of Mansfield, Angela Snow and husband, Troy, of Arlington, Cari Wood and husband, Geoff, of Azle and Jayme Laird of Azle; great- granddaughter, Makenzie Snow of Arlington; and adopted grandson, Scott Cook of Fort Worth.

Mr. Griffin was born Aug. 26, 1946, in Grand Island, and worked for GTE for more than 28 years. He graduated from Kearney State and received his master's degree from Indiana University. Mr. Griffin was a member of the Methodist church.

Survivors: Wife, Susan Griffin of Southlake; son, Steven L. Griffin of Southlake; daughter, Kellie L. Griffin of Southlake; brother, Gary L. Griffin of Omaha, Neb.; and sister, Judy M. Griffin Lambertus of Grand Island.

Mr. Gunn was born April 17, 1919, in Gladewater. He was preceded in death by a son, Houston Floyd Gunn, in 1987 and sisters, Mozelle Moreau and Melba Connors.

Survivors: Wife, Pearl Gunn; sons, Vearon Gunn, Jerry Lee Gunn and wife, Sharon; brother, B.B. Gunn; sisters, Betty Crumpton, Opal Reynolds, Joy Minz; grandchildren, Susie Miller, Floyd Gunn, Matthew, Amanda, Jenna and Aaron Gunn; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
