Graveside service: 2:30 p.m. Monday in Tiger Cemetery in Hanna, Okla. Visitation: 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home.

Bernice Harjo was born March 8, 1928, in Harlan County, Ky.

Survivors: Wife, Sundae Harjo of Roanoke; brother-in-law, William T. Clayton of Louisville, Ky.; and sister, Irene Bates of Louisville, Ky.

Bertha Hannah S. Harris
FORT WORTH -- Bertha Hannah Salsberg Harris, 77, a homemaker, died Friday morning, July 11, 1997, at home.

Funeral: noon Sunday at Robertson Mueller Harper. Officiating: Rabbi Ralph Mecklenburger. Burial: Beth-El section of Greenwood Memorial Park.

Bearers of Mrs. Harris' casket will be: Greg Bailey, Rodney Caldwell, Alan Klotz, Rick Klotz and Gary Margolis.

Bertha Salsberg Harris, a native and lifelong resident of Fort Worth, was preceded in death by her husband, retired Air Force Staff Sgt. Joe Harris, in 1988. She was the daughter of the late Morrie and Sadie Fox Salsberg. Mrs. Harris was a member of Beth-El Congregation.

Survivors: Son, Larry R. Harris of Fort Worth; brother-in-law, Melvin Caldwell of Lake Worth; and nephew, Rodney Caldwell.

Nels Kenneth Hogberg
BENBROOK -- Nels Kenneth Hogberg, 70, who was a retired Air Force master sergeant and a technical writer, died Friday, July 11, 1997, at home.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at Laurel Land Funeral Home. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials: The Educational/Tutoring Cluster Group of Western Hills Baptist Church, 8500 Chapin Rd., Fort Worth, Texas 76116.

Mr. Hogberg was born Aug. 27, 1926, in Minneapolis, Minn.

His family moved to Laramie, Wyo., in 1929 where he spent many happy hours fly fishing in the trout streams. He moved to Benbrook following retirement from the Air Force in 1966.

Nels married Virginia Atkinson Hogberg on Oct. 4, 1953. They had three children who were his pride and joy. It gave him great pleasure to relate each of their individual accomplishments.

Nels worked for General Dynamics as a technical writer on the F-111 and F-16 following retirement from the Air Force. Subsequently, he worked as an editor, senior technical writer, USAF Validation and Coordination, instructor and technician. He wrote and edited manuals for numerous defense corporations including General Dynamics F-111, F-16, Boeings' B-1B Bomber, E-Systems' Air Force One, Sikorsky Helicopter and others. Nels worked for Northrup Corporation for four years in Saudi Arabia beginning in 1972. He instructed Royal Saudi Air Force Officers in F5B/E aircraft maintenance and Aircrew Ground Training.

Nels was a radio control airplane enthusiast which he shared with his children and built thousands of scale model airplanes for his children and grandchildren. He was a loving father, devoted husband, and friend.

Survivors: Wife, Virginia Hogberg; son, Nels Hogberg and wife, Darla, of Carrollton; daughters, Ruthanne White and husband, Bob, of Laplace, La., Karen Dodge and husband, Buzzy, of Onalaska; grandchildren, Alicia and Zoe White, Jacquelyn and H. P. Dodge, Lars and Nels Hogberg; and nephews, Michael Hogberg of Orlando, Fla., Jeff Hogberg of Panama City, Fla., and Kevin Hogberg of Coral Springs, Fla.

Alta Mae Holmes
CHICO -- Alta Mae Holmes, 76, a custodian, died Friday, July 11, 1997, at home.

Graveside service: 11 a.m. Monday in Thompson Cemetery. Visitation: 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Alta Holmes was born Dec. 3, 1920, in Pickton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill H. Holmes, and son, Willie Douglas Holmes.

Survivors: Sons, James Holmes, Martin Holmes and Billy D. Holmes, all of Lubbock; daughters, Cathrine Kerlin of Lake Dallas and Anita Lovejoy of Chico; sister, Barbra Stapanin of Motebello, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great- grandchildren.

Latham Lee Howell
STEPHENVILLE -- Latham Lee Howell, 72, a retired bottle plant manager for Texas Coca-Cola Bottling Company, died Saturday, July 12, 1997, at home.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday at Lacy Funeral Home in Stephenville. Burial: West End Cemetery in Stephenville. Visitation: 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Dr. Dan Murray will officiate the service with assistance by the Rev. Emil V. Becker.

Latham Howell was born Nov. 1, 1924, in Dublin, Texas. He married Fay Hensley on Feb. 21, 1946, in Hamilton. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Coca-Cola Collectors Club.

Survivors: Wife, Fay Howell of Stephenville; son, Scott Lee Howell of Stephenville; daughter, Andrea Lee Howell of Yukon, Okla.; and three grandchildren.

Dianne Lowe Jarvis
SPRINGTOWN -- Dianne Lowe Jarvis, 55, a homemaker, lost a courageous battle to cancer on Friday, July 11, 1997, at an Arlington hospital.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday at White's Funeral Home in Springtown. Burial: Springtown Cemetery. Visitation: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Dianne Lowe Jarvis was born Feb. 21, 1942, in Greenville, and had been a Springtown resident since 1977. She was a dear, loving wife, mother, granny and a friend to all.

Survivors: Husband of 31 years, Butch Jarvis of Springtown; mother-in- law, Dale Jarvis of Springtown; daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Rod Munnerlyn of Azle, Lisa and Randy Horton of Springtown; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Candis Jarvis of Springtown; daughter, Stacey Jarvis of Keller; grandchildren, Heather, Brian, Dede Munnerlyn, Christopher and Cody Horton, Brent and Breann Jarvis; brothers and sisters-in-law, Preston and Ann Lowe of Arlington, David and Jo Lowe of Grandview; brother, Jackie Lowe of Arlington; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

WAXAHACHIE -- Roger Post Jordan, 61, a salesman, died Friday, July 11, 1997, at a Dallas hospital.

Roger Jordan was born Aug. 18, 1935, in Waxahachie, to N.B. and Lucie Crawford Jordan Sr. He graduated from Waxahachie High School and Henderson Junior College. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1957.

He was employed with Lofland Steel Co. of Waxahachie as a salesman. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed baseball.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sharon, brother Corky, sister Betty Sanders, and brother-in-law, J.L. Segars.

Survivors: Daughter, Joni Mitchell and husband, Scott "Mitch", of Arlington; granddaughter, Milissa Mitchell of Arlington; brothers, N.B. "Buck" and Charles Jordan, both of Waxahachie; sister, Mary Anne Segars of Waxahachie, Ruby Jamison Jordan; and special friend, Shirley Hinkle.

Oleta Jones Kell
BEDFORD -- Oleta "Mimmie" Jones Kell, 85, co-founder of Kell Cleaners, died Friday, July 11, 1997, at her residence.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday at Bridgewood Church of Christ. Burial: Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel.

Oleta Kell was born Nov. 1, 1911, in Collinsville, Grayson County. She came to Fort Worth as a young lady and attended Fort Worth schools. She graduated from Central High School, now Paschal. She married Thomas Kell Jr. and in 1932 she and Mr. Kell started the Kell Cleaners with the initial investment of a $5 gold piece. She retired in 1978. Mrs. Kell was for many years a member of Handley Church of Christ and the Handley Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Kell Jr.

Survivors: Son and daughter-in-law, Jack T. and Elaine Kell of Arlington; sister, Audrey Pollock of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandsons, Kevin Kell and Kent Kell and his wife, Laura, all of Fort Worth; and great-granddaughters, Shelby Kell and Shaye Kell, both of Fort Worth.

Joseph J. Kostenski Sr.
ARLINGTON -- Joseph John Kostenski Sr., 78, a pharmaceutical engineer, died Friday, July 11, 1997, in Arlington after a lengthy illness.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. Burial: Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 6 p.m. Sunday at Moore Funeral Home.

Mr. Kostenski was born June 22, 1919.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Sophia Kostenski; and sisters, Virginia Cunningham and Marian Bellinger.

Survivors: Wife of 54 years, Adelia Kostenski; son, Joseph Kostenski Jr., and wife, June, of Corpus Christi; daughter, Nancy McLean of Arlington; three grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.

Mrs. Lackey was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 4, 1989; a son; three brothers; and a sister.

Survivors: Five daughters, Virginia Baker, Peggy Damron, Dortha Lackey, Donna Rife and Susie Wells; two sons, Junior Lackey and Doug Lackey; sister, Ida Mae Avery; brother, Luther Sadler; 21 grandchildren; and 22 great- grandchildren.
