FORT WORTH -- Alvie Doyle Elliott, 83, an employee who retired from T&P Railway after 30 years, died Sunday, July 20, 1997, at a local hospital.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brown, Owens & Brumley Funeral Directors. Officiating: the Rev. Bill Harden. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park.

Alvie Elliott was born Nov. 14, 1913, in Roach, Texas. He was a member of McPherson Road Baptist Church.

Survivors: Wife of 64 years, Dollie Mae Elliott of Fort Worth; daughters, Jean Markham of Fort Worth, Billie Bowen of Glen Rose and Joyce Miller of Colville, Wash.; sister, Jo Mendoza of Bolivia; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great- grandchildren.

Joy Elaine Farmer
FORT WORTH -- Joy Elaine Farmer, 38, who worked in retail sales, died Sunday, July 20, 1997, in Fort Worth.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Laurel Land Funeral Home of Fort Worth. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Joy Elaine Farmer was born Jan. 5, 1959, in Plainview. Elaine was preceded in death by her brother, Ronnie Lee English, and her parents, Ruth and Ellis Miller English Jr.

Elaine was a great mother, a caring person and a loving friend. She gave her heart and soul to her son, Keith, and family. Elaine was always giving and would never ask for anything. She loved spending time with her son and family. Elaine gave from Jan. 5, 1959, until July 20, 1997. A true love and mother.

God bless her soul.

Roy S. Gabryl
FORT WORTH -- Roy S. Gabryl Jr., DDS, MAGD, 51, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel, died Thursday, July 17, 1997, in Fort Worth.

Funeral: was Monday at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Burial: Moore Memorial Gardens.

Memorials: Cancer Society or Community Hospice of Fort Worth.

Dr. Roy S. Gabryl was born at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio on Nov. 19, 1945. He was the beloved son of Betty Jean and Roy S. Gabryl Sr. of San Antonio. He passed away peacefully at home Thursday, July 17, 1997. He grew up in a military family and traveled extensively. He received his bachelor of science degree from The University of Texas at Austin, his doctor of dentistry from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and his master's degree from Webster University in St. Louis, Mo. He entered the Air Force as a commissioned officer attaining the rank of lieutenant colonel at the time of his retirement. Dr. Gabryl was the national director for United Dental Care Inc. of Dallas at the time of his death. He was a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, National Association of Dental Plans, Provider Relations Commission; Academy of Managed Care Dentistry; and the American Association of Dental Consultants.

Roy touched many lives and will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors: Wife, Betty Jo Gabryl of Fort Worth; daughter, Michelle Gabryl of Irving; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Bryanna Currie; and grandson, Bryan Currie of Euless; sister, Belinda J. Gabryl and her husband, David Tanner, of Massachusetts; and other family members including relatives in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

RAINBOW -- Ellen Elizabeth Woodard Gallagher, 77, a schoolteacher for 25 years, died Sunday, July 20, 1997, at a Glen Rose medical center.

John Couch Garrison was born April 14, 1916, in Bolivar.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bailey Garrison and Maude Couch Garrison.

WACO -- Eugene "Gene" Gerdts, 68, of Waco, died Saturday, July 19, 1997, at a local hospital.

Claude H. Gibson
FORT WORTH -- Claude H. Gibson, 87, a retired linotype operator, died Sunday, July 20, 1997, at a local nursing center after a lengthy illness.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Pallbearers: Bob Murrah, Jake Murrah, David Redding, Raymond Morphis, Jacob Murrah and Tom Gibson.

Memorials: in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Claude H. Gibson was born Nov. 27, 1909, in Floresville, Texas. He grew up in Austin and upon completion of high school he attended the University of Texas. He learned the skill of linotyping from his father and continued in that line of work, retiring from Stafford Lowden in 1976.

He was an avid golfer and bowler, still participating in bowling leagues until his illness in January. He was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mabel S. Gibson, on March 24, 1988.

Survivors: Daughters and sons-in- law, Judith and Will J. Murrah of Hurst and Claudia and Robert R. Redding of Weatherford; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Alyne Kemp Hemphill was born March 11, 1911, and was a resident of Garland for 45 years. She was a former longtime member of New Liberty Baptist Church.

Survivors: Son, Charles E. Hemphill of Burleson; daughter, Shirley Boggs of Tomball; brother, Kenneth Kemp of Blue Ridge; sisters, Opal McCarley and Valerie Stroup of Blue Ridge and Evelyn Bourland of Westin; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

FORT WORTH -- Fredrick "Ted" Langdon, 73, a retired employee of the city of Fort Worth, died Saturday, July 19, 1997, in Fort Worth from injuries received in a motorcycle accident.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bridgewood Church of Christ on Brentwood Stair. Burial: 1 p.m. Tuesday in Fairview Cemetery near Millsap.

Fredrick Langdon was born June 21, 1924, in Fort Worth.

Survivors: Sons, Jef Langdon of Fort Worth and Charles Langdon of Azle; daughters, Dee Pasley and Ann Hice, both of Fort Worth; brother, Louis Langdon of Fort Worth; sisters, Bonnie Northcut of Fort Worth and Ruth Cecil of Keller; 11 grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren.

Mary G. Lipscomb was born Oct. 7, 1920, in Chicago.

She was an officer in the Coast Guard in World War II and an elder member of St. Philip Presbyterian Church.

Survivors: Husband, Glenn Lipscomb of Bedford; daughters, Barbara Cooper of Stow, Ohio, and Jo Anne Pettitt of Charlottesville, Va.; and five grandchildren.

Lyla Maples was born Sept. 24, 1916, in Lometa. Lyla taught Sunday school for many years in Richardson. She was the dietary supervisor at the Leisure Lodge in Euless for 15 years.

Maples of Haltom City; sons, Ronnie Maples and wife, Brenda, of Combine, Larry Maples and wife, Carol, of North Richland Hills and Garry Maples and wife, Rosalie, of Watauga; daughter, Lisa Wheet and husband, Travis, of Fort Worth; 10 grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

ARLINGTON -- Beatrice Margaret Jones Meerbott, 72, a homemaker, died of cancer Sunday, July 20, 1997, at her home.

Beatrice Meerbott was born July 22, 1924, in Hackensack, N.J. She is cherished by her family, members of the Unity Church of Arlington, volunteers at Columbia Medical Center -- where she volunteered for over 20 years -- and by many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Meerbott.

Survivors: Her daughter and son-in- law, Susan and Gregory Schadt; grandson, Kyle Schadt; sisters, Shirley Francaviglia of Hillsdale, N.J., and Charlotte Kaczala of Riverdale, N.J.; brother, Richard Jones of Norfolk, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.
