JUSTIN -- John Haley Roberts, 13, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 1997, in Lake Jackson, Texas.

Funeral: 9 a.m. Saturday at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Farmers Branch. Officiating: Mr. Rick Shepherd. Burial: Prairie Mound Cemetery in Justin. Graveside service will start around noon. Prayer service: 7:30 p.m. Friday at the church.

John was born July 24, 1984, in San Antonio. John was loved and will be missed by all who were blessed to know him. God took both John and his brother, Cole McGee, to be his angels in heaven. Praise God.

ALVARADO -- Bonnie Nix Ruetz, 64, a bank teller, died Tuesday, July 22, 1997, at a Fort Worth hospital.

Bonnie Nix Ruetz was born Oct. 12, 1932.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lee Royce McKenzie, and a grandson, Oliver Lawrence Tidwell.

Survivors: Husband, Quintus Ruetz of Alvarado; son, Roger A. McKenzie of Granbury; daughter, Sherry L. Bourne of Alvarado; brother, Jerry Nix of Mississippi; grandchildren, David Boydstun, Royce Tidwell, Monica McKenzie and Derek McKenzie; and great-grandchil- dren, Anthony Boydstun and Angela Boydstun.

Chester Shewmaker
VAN BUREN, Ark. -- Chester "Dell" Shewmaker, 66, retired director of maintenance of Mead Container, died Wednesday, July 23, 1997, at his home.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at Ocker Funeral Home. Burial: Masonic graveside service at Antioch Cemetery in Crawford County, Ark.

Chester Shewmaker was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors: Wife, Lena Wanell Shewmaker of the home; daughters, Jeri Kaynell Shewmaker of the home, Lawanda Kay Allbaugh of Central City, Ark., and Elwanda Gay Holloman of Dublin; sons, Lawrence Dewitt Johnson of Dublin and Douglas Claude Johnson of Central City, Ark.; sister, Trudy Gordon of Crowley; brother, Coleman Dusty Shewmaker of Joshua; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mary-Loving Smith
FORT WORTH -- Mary-Loving Smith, 96, died Wednesday, July 23, 1997, in Fort Worth.

Mary-Loving Smith was born March 13, 1901, in Weatherford to Horace Loving Wilson and Nancy Ann Morton Wilson. She moved to Fort Worth and graduated in the first class of Central High School (1917). She graduated in 1923 from Columbia University in New York with a degree in fine arts. After graduation, Mary-Loving taught jewelry design and metal working (her specialty) at Texas Woman's University for three years. She married Tulane Sadler Smith and they resided in Dallas for most of their lives.

Mary-Loving was the granddaughter of Margaret Loving Wilson, the youngest child of Oliver Loving, dean of the Texas trail drivers. Mary-Loving Smith was honored as the oldest living relative of Oliver Loving in 1995 as she cut the ribbons to open the Trail Drivers exhibit in Weatherford. With her unusual education for a woman in her day, she was sought after by many art-related groups and served on the Acquisitions Board of the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts for over 20 years. She was a member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church and the Craig Class of Dallas and Browning Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tulane Sadler Smith, and her only child, Mary-Loving Smith Champlin.

Survivors: Her only sister, Louisa Wilson Haun of Fort Worth; three grandchildren, George Champlin of Greenville, S.C., Mary-Loving Champlin Harmon and Louisa Champlin Nelson of Fort Worth; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her nephew, John Haun, and nieces, Nancy H. Dozier, Karen H. Barlow and Terry H. Shaw, all of Fort Worth.

Lee Murray Tippens Jr.
FORT WORTH -- Lee Murray Tippens Jr., 38, a packer for Stafford Purex Co., died Monday, July 21, 1997, at a local hospital.

Funeral: noon Saturday at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, 5325 Bonnell in the Lake Como area. Burial: Cedar Hill Memorial Park. Wake: 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church.

Lee Murray Tippens Jr. was born May 29, 1959, in Fort Worth.

Maurice Walker Sr.
FORT WORTH -- Maurice Walker Sr., 62, a retired employee who had been with the Fort Worth Parks and Recreation Department for over 21 years, died Tuesday, July 22, 1997, at home.

Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mayfield Baptist Church, 2101 Amanda. Burial: Cedar Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Morris-Bates Mortuary.

Maurice Walker Sr. was born Sept. 5, 1934, in Waco. He had lived in this area for the past 20 years, moving from Chicago. He was a member of Mayfield Baptist Church. Maurice was a lover of many things, such as golf and traveling. He loved to shop and was a person who had a great sense of humor that will be missed by all.

Having served faithfully and honorably, he retired from the United States Navy on the 1st day of February, 1978.

Survivors: Sons, Maurice Walker Jr. and Marlon Walker, both of Fort Worth; daughters, Barbara Tarrant and Belinda Hollie, both of Fort Worth; brothers, J.W. Walker of Waco and Herbert Walker of Fort Worth; sisters, Lillian Lewis and Stanley Brown, and Linda White, all of Fort Worth; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; aunts, Myrtle B. Lewis and Ruth W. Asher, both of Fort Worth; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and many, many friends.

Wayland Woodard
GRANBURY -- Wayland Woodard, 56, a truck driver, died Tuesday, July 22, 1997, at his home.

Wayland Woodard was born Nov. 9, 1940, in Cleburne. He was a driver for Consolidated Freightways for nearly 30 years.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors: Wife, Christine Woodard of Granbury; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Kenny Canard of Fort Worth; son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Darlene Woodard of Fort Worth; mother, Olmer D. Woodard of Burleson; brother, Roy Dwight Woodard of Burleson; grandchildren, Brandon Canard, Allison Canard and Jessica Woodard and her mother, Wendy Ann Woodard; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Jones B. Alcock
PAGOSA SPRINGS, Colo. -- Jones B. Alcock, 66, who retired from civil service, died Thursday, June 26, 1997, in Pagosa Springs.

Jones B. Alcock was born Jan. 17, 1931, in Florine, La.

He retired in 1986 after 33 years of service, four of which were served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a resident of Willow Park, Texas.

Survivors: Wife, Connie Alcock of Willow Park; daughter, Kathy McGrew of Hurst; sons, Mark Alcock of Benbrook and David Alcock of North Richland Hills; brother, Wayne Alcock of New Orleans; two grandchildren, Eric and Krista McGrew; and one great-granddaughter, Stephanie McGrew.

John Baker was born April 3, 1938, in Roanoke, Ind. He was an Air Force veteran and retired in 1978. After retiring from the Air Force, he became a long distance truck driver until his death.

Survivors: Wife of 41 years, Dorothy Baker of Moody; daughters, Susan O'Neal of Godley, Denise "Denni" Forehand of Las Vegas, Nev., and Elizabeth "Beth" Baker of Moody; and grandchildren, Kristi, Adam, Cody, Casey and Cameron.

Vera Boerner was born April 2, 1915, in Corpus Christi. She lived in Fort Worth since 1944. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Boerner, and her sister, Clara Pelzel.
