Loretta Montgomery
MANCHESTER, Tenn. -- Loretta Mae Knight Montgomery, 71, formerly of Fort Worth, passed away Sunday, July 27, 1997, at her home.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday at Greenwood Funeral Home in Fort Worth. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park.

Loretta Mae Knight Montgomery was born Aug. 23, 1925. She graduated from TCU with a bachelor of music degree from the School of Fine Arts. She performed in numerous little theater productions across the state of Texas. She was soloist for many years at First Church of Christ, Scientist, and the Third Church of Christ, Scientist, in Fort Worth.

She was a former member of Mu Phi Epsilon and the Music Study Club and enjoyed membership in local garden and bridge clubs. Mrs. Montgomery was active for many years with the Tarrant County Girl Scout council, serving in various volunteer capacities as well as being a troop leader.

She worked with abused and neglected children as a social service caseworker for the Department of Human Services. After leaving the department, she worked at Ocone Bridal Sales in Fort Worth.

An accomplished seamstress, she devoted her life to designing and construction clothing and costumes for her daughters, nieces and nephews, and later for her grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling and visiting the air base in Debdon, England, where her late husband was a member of the famed Eagle Squadron while stationed there in World War II.

She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Lt. Col. Gerald E. Montgomery, a World War II veteran and an MIA in the Korean War. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Neil Scott and Cora Myrtle Knight of Fort Worth, and her sister, Doris Knight Vaughan.

Survivors: Daughters, Julie M. Langhram and Mrs. Gerri M. Prescott and her husband, David Prescott; three grandsons; and three great-grand- children.

ARLINGTON -- Ila Grace Norris, 81, a retired public schoolteacher, died Monday, July 28, 1997, at an Arlington nursing home.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at Blessing Funeral Home. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

FORT WORTH -- Christine M. Parrott, 91, a homemaker, died Sunday, July 27, 1997, at a Euless nursing center.

Graveside service: 10 a.m. Monday in Laurel Land Memorial Park.

Christine Parrott was born Dec. 3, 1905, in Fort Worth. She was a lifelong resident of Fort Worth and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

Mrs. Parrott was the widow of Garnett Wellsworth Parrott.

Survivors: Sons, Ernest and his wife, Suzanne, of Lakewood, Colo., Charles and his wife, Peggy, of Euless, and George and his wife, Denise, of North Richland Hills; and grandchildren, Katherine Kisluk, Debbi Wilson, Melissa Jones, Scott Parrott, Stacy Parrott and Laurie Parrott.

Harry Bowman Patterson
FORT WORTH -- Harry Bowman Patterson, 67, a retired methods and standards manager for American Airlines, died Monday, July 28, 1997, at a local hospital.

Graveside service: 11 a.m. Friday in Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, N.C.

Harry Patterson was born Oct. 13, 1929, in Upland, Pa. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors: Wife, Edna Frances Patterson; and sister, Alice Hope Patterson.

Arthur Milton Pennington
ARKADELPHIA, Ark. -- Arthur Milton Pennington, 92, of Arkadelphia, died Tuesday, July 29, 1997, at a Little Rock, Ark., medical center.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Jim Foster, Jim Pennington and Michael Mattox officiating. Burial: Pinecrest Memorial Park near Alexander. Family visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorials: to a charity of choice.

Arthur Pennington was born Feb. 13, 1905, in Colorado City, Texas, the son of the late Walter Allen and Mary Lucinda Adams Pennington. He was a rancher, a road contractor and a grocer. He introduced rice to Clark Co.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Norma Jean Pennington, a granddaughter, Paula Wilde, and three brothers.

Survivors: Wife of 70 years, Annallee Pennington; daughters, Pattie Leman of Mount Pleasant, S.C., and Penny Montgomery of Moran, Texas; sister, Mary Ozell Briscoe of Spokane, Wash.; granddaughters, Connie Kuehl of Morgan's Point, Texas, Melody Giammalva of Fort Worth and Heather Leman of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; grandson, Brian Leman of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; great- granddaughters, Courtney and Carly Giammalva; and great-grandsons, Shawn and Chad Bowman and Cameron Giammalva.

Ruth Shackelford was born Jan. 31, 1912, in Conway, Ark. She was a graduate of Howard Payne University and had received a masters degree from Hardin Simmons University.

Mrs. Shackelford retired from the Fort Worth public school district after 35 years as an elementary schoolteacher and special educational teacher. She also taught a short time in Dublin, Texas.

She was also a member of St. Matthew Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Burleson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd R. Shackelford,

Survivors: Daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Jerold Schmidt of Granbury; grandchildren, Michael Schmidt and wife, Cherri, of Granbury, Eric Schmidt and wife, Shannon, of Joshua, Jeffrey Schmidt of San Diego, Calif., and Diedre Schmidt of Joshua; four great- grandchildren; and a cousin, Paul A. FORT WORTH -- Weldon S. Street, 75, died Wednesday, July 30, 1997, at his residence.

Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth.

Weldon S. Street was born Nov. 29, 1921, in Borden County. He graduated from Texas Technological University and spent four years in the Navy, where he served in the central and western Pacific.

At the conclusion of World War II, he returned to West Texas and began a 40- year career with the Ralston Purina Co. He held management positions at its Lubbock, Amarillo, Oklahoma City, Bloomington, Ill., Jackson, Miss., and Fort Worth plants.

Mr. Street was preceded in death by his wives, Una, Betty and Cathryn.

Survivors: Son, Allen Street and his wife, Patricia Street, of Marlow, Okla.; daughters, Nancy Greer and her husband, Rudy Greer, of Stillwater, Okla., and Ann Jackson and her husband, William Joe Jackson, of Sugar Land; and seven grandchildren.

BEDFORD -- Vicki Lynn Warthan, 38, a pharmacy supervisor, died Tuesday, July 29, 1997, in Arlington.

Vicki Lynn Warthan was born Sept. 26, 1958, in Houston. She graduated from Trinity High School in 1976 and the University of North Texas in 1981. She was a longtime resident of Bedford.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn Brewer.

Survivors: Daughter, Amanda Warthan of Bedford; parents, Sonny and Jackie Brewer of Hurst; sisters, Sandra Blain of Houston and Elizabeth Swingle of Winnsboro; stepbrother, Jimmy Adams of Mansfield; and stepsisters, Penny Washington of Keller and Stephanie Smith of Bedford.
