HALTOM CITY - Wilmer E. Rayner, 77, a retired minister and teacher, died Monday, Aug. 4, 1997, at a Bedford hospital.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday at Hurst Boulevard Church of God. Burial: Rose Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: 2 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst.

Memorials: Hurst Boulevard Church of God.

Rev. Wilmer E. Rayner was born June, 26, 1920, in Gilmore, Md. He was a member of Hurst Boulevard Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Wayne Stanley.

Survivors: Wife, Dorothy Rayner of Haltom City; sons, Dennis McCauley of North Richland Hills and James Rayner of Haltom City; daughters, Phyllis Stanley of Smithsburg, Md., Ann Johnson of Hurst, Jane Bleeker of Trophy Club and Robin Caddell of Melbourne, Fla.; sisters, Geraldine Lee and Ina Chebot, both of Frostburg, Md.; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Ray Renfro
FORT WORTH - Ray Renfro, 67, a retired professional football player/ coach, died Monday, Aug. 4, 1997, in Fort Worth.

Funeral: noon Thursday at First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth. Officiating will be the Rev. Bill Glass and Dr. William Longsworth. The eulogy will be presented by Roger Staubach. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be James Brewer, Quincy Armstrong, Dub Jones, Jim Ray Smith, Durwood Koonsman, Chester Jackson, Tommy Runnels and Jim Eagle. Honorary pallbearers will be James Rainbolt, Darrell Palmer, Phil Ekholm, Dr. T.K. Hardy, Dr. Jim Stewart, Zeke Martin, Grayford Campbell, Joe Cates, Homer Dear, Bobby Moore, Dwayne Henson, Sam Resnick, Dean Sowders, Morriss Pollack, Sandy Timms, Harry Sellars, Bobby Pollack and Lewis Carruthers.

Memorials: A Wish With Wings, Box 3479, Arlington, Texas 76007.

Ray Renfro was born Nov. 7, 1929, in Whitesboro. He graduated from Leonard High School in 1948 and attended North Texas State University on a football scholarship. He was an All-American in track and football and was drafted in 1952 by the Cleveland Browns and New York Yankees.

In 12 NFL years with the Cleveland Browns, utilizing his world-class speed, he obtained six Pro Bowl seasons and four world championships as a standout wide receiver. He still holds career receiving and touchdown records, and achieved team MVP honors in 1961.

After his playing days, he coached with the Detroit Lions, Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys, helping the Cowboys win their first Super Bowl championship in 1972.

He was inducted in the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, Fannin County Sports Hall of Fame and the North Texas State University Athletic Hall of Fame. His most recent years have been spent farming in Morgan.

Survivors: Wife, Sandra Renfro; sons, Mike Renfro and his wife, Denise, Mark Renfro and his wife, Teresa, and Mitch Renfro and his wife, Donna; brother, Dean Renfro and his wife, Sara; grandchildren, Klayton, Clint, Ford, Ashley, Meredith, Jordan, Courtney and Clarke Renfro; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Stephanie M. Estes Rorie
WASHINGTON D.C. - Stephanie M. Estes Rorie, 49, of Washington D.C., died Monday, June 30, 1997, at a Washington D.C. hospital.

Memorial service: 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Our Mother of Mercy Church, 1001 E. Terrell, in Fort Worth.

Stephanie M. Estes Rorie and her family lived in Fort Worth from 1971 to 1990. While in Fort Worth, she developed a day care facility for physically challanged children and eventually became the executive director to the YWCA in Fort Worth and Greater Tarrant County. Prior to leaving Texas, she was appointed the first director of African- American Ministries for the diocese of Fort Worth. In 1990, she and her family moved to Washington D.C., where she was employed by Legal Services Corporation until her death.

She leaves behind to mourn her precious memory:

Survivors: Husband, Lawrence "Lonnie"; two loving daughters, Amber and Shannon Laurell Rogers; son-in- law, Emmanuel Rogers; mother, Leanna G. Estes; and grandson, Jordan Tyler Rogers.

Anthony "Yoda" Saldivar
FORT WORTH - Anthony "Yoda" Saldivar, 28, a machine operator, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 1997, in Fort Worth.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park.

Pallbearers: Angel Hernandez, Andrew Ramirez, Richard Garza, Raymond Garza, Toby Dominquez, Donald Wesley Cade, Richard Wuertemburg, Michael Davis, Mikel Galicia and Gabriel Dominquez.

Memorials: Anthony Saldivar Fund, in lieu of flowers.

Anthony Saldivar was born July 21, 1969, in Fort Worth. He attended Trimble Tech High School. He was a loving father and son and enjoyed music. He was a Dallas Cowboys fan. He worked for Technol as a machine operator.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Natividad Monrial Ayala, and his grandfather, Sebastian Saldivar Sr.

Survivors: Son, Anthony Saldivar Jr. of Fort Worth; parents, Lee Perez Saldivar and Janie Ayala Saldivar of Fort Worth; sister, Nadia Saldivar; grandfather, John Ayala of Waco; grandmother, Anita Saldivar of De Leon; and aunts, uncles and cousins from Fort Worth, Waco, Houston, Round Rock, De Leon, Arlington, Dublin, San Antonio, Corpus Christi and Albany, Ga.

Mable V. Sampler
DECATUR - Mable V. Sampler, 88, a farmer and rancher, died Monday, Aug. 4, 1997, at a local nursing home.

Graveside service: 2 p.m. Wednesday in Sycamore Cemetery in Wise County.

Mable V. Sampler was born Aug. 30, 1908, in Waurika, Okla.

She married the late Hugh Coleman Sampler on Aug. 22, 1926, in Decatur. She was a Baptist.

Survivors: Daughter, Eva Whatley of Texarkana, Ark.; sisters, Claudia Boenisch of Altus, Okla., and Georgie Widener of Fort Worth; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

ARLINGTON - Larry Skinner, 41, a customer service representative with AT&T, died Monday, Aug. 4, 1997, in Arlington.

Larry Skinner was born Oct. 24, 1955, in Dallas.

Mr. Skinner was a TCU graduate with a BBA and the former owner of Hi-Hat Lounge.

L.C. Smith
PONDER - L.C. Smith, 77, a Tennaco shift operator, died Monday, Aug. 4, 1997, at his home.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday at Coker Funeral Home. Burial: Bolivar Cemetery. Visitation: 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

L.C. Smith was born April 20, 1920, in Bolivar.

AURORA - Chris Stewart, 17, an assistant manager for Rubens Tex-Mex Restaurant, went to heaven Monday, Aug. 4, 1997, at his home.

Chris Stewart was born May 20, 1980, in Lynchburg, Va. He attended Northwest High School and was a member of Aurora Baptist Church and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Boyd. Chris was a faithful and active member of the Aurora Baptist youth group and a major asset to the Potter's Clay singing ensemble. His love and concern for others was felt by all he touched. He will be remembered always with deep love while he is at home with Jesus until we meet him there.

Survivors: Parents, John and Rosemary Stewart of Aurora; brothers and sister-in-law, Timothy Shane Stewart and Tammy of Irving and Scottlan Blaine Stewart of Aurora; grandparents, Phyllis Hull Riddle of Weatherford and Dr. Roy Sr. and Enell Stewart of White Settlement; aunt, Martha Stewart of Bedford, Va.; and uncle, Vick Stewart of WHite Settlement.

Colleen Stitt was born Aug. 2, 1927, in Covington, Okla.

She moved to Grand Prairie in 1967. She enjoyed being an active contributor to many Grand Prairie charities throughout her 30-year residency.

Barbara Jean Tomlinson
LIPAN - Barbara Jean Tomlinson, 55, a Gulf Energy secretary, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 1997, in Granbury.

Barbara Jean Tomlinson was born Dec. 4, 1941, in Ellsworth, Kan.

Survivors: Husband, Larry Tomlinson of Lipan; sons, James Westerhaus and Tad Westerhaus, both of Granbury; daughter, Allison Pool of Seagoville; stepdaughters, Kelli Stevens and Kayla Tomlinson, both of Granbury; brother, Tom Renard of Ellsworth, Kan.; sister, Sheila Griffith of Lyons, Kan.; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

William Robert Bagg
FORT WORTH -- William Robert Bagg, 81, who was in insurance and real estate, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1997, in Fort Worth.

Memorial service: 10 a.m. Saturday at University Christian Church. Dr. Charles Sanders will officiate. Private burial: Laurel Land Mausoleum.

Memorials: Erlene and Granville Walker Scholarship Fund at University Christian Church or a charity of choice.

William Robert Bagg was born Feb. 28, 1916, in DeKalb, Ill. He was a general agent for John Hancock Life Insurance for several years. He served as president of General Agents Association in Fort Worth and Texas as well as the Fort Worth CLU Chapter. He formed Olympic Life Insurance in 1963, after which he sold his interest and moved to Hawaii in 1969, where he organized his own company, Royal Kaanapali Realty Inc. on Maui. He received a certificate of merit for accelerating improving of flooding problems in the Kahana district. He also served on the Mayor's Commission on the Cost of Government for two years. He and his wife returned to Fort Worth on May 1, 1997.

He was a member of University Christian Church, a former member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and was an active golfing member of Colonial Country Club and Ridglea Country Club.

Mr. Bagg was preceded in death by a son, Robert A. Bagg, in 1961.

Survivors: Wife of 58 years, Dolores; son, Richard Dana Bagg of Seattle; mother-in-law, Fern Hubbard of Tah- lequah, Okla.; twin brother, John L. Bagg of Florida; nephews, Bruce Bagg and Roger Bagg, both of Illinois; and niece, Sue Reinert of Illinois.

Wilton Leon Beard
WEATHERFORD -- Wilton Leon "Sonny" "Hey Daddy" Beard, 76, who worked in maintenance and air- conditioning, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 1997, at his residence.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday at Blessing Funeral Home. Burial: St. Paul Cemetery in Mansfield. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Wilton Leon "Sonny" "Hey Daddy" Beard was born July 5, 1921, in Mansfield. He retired in 1967 from Williamson- Dickie Manufacturing Co. and in 1985 from Lockheed.

A World War II Army veteran, Mr. Beard was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was a Methodist.

Special thanks to his neighbors, numerous friends and Community Hospice of Tarrant County.
