FORT WORTH -- Jess Harwell, 75, owner of The J. Harwell & Associate, an aerospace manufacturers' representing company, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 1997, in Anaheim, Calif.

Funeral: 4 p.m. Thursday at All Saints Episcopal Church. Celebrant: the Rev. Eddie Barnett. Private graveside service: 11 a.m. Friday in Murphee Cemetery in Evant.

Jess Harwell was born Aug. 30, 1921, in Dallas. A longtime Fort Worth resident, Mr. Harwell was a member of Ridglea Country Club and SAMPE and was a past president of the Fort Worth Golf Association. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Forces.

Survivors: Wife, Juanita Harwell; son, Jess Harwell III and his wife, Candy, of Fort Worth; stepson, Ric Clifton of New York City; stepdaughter, Stephanie Darch and her husband, Doug, of Fort Worth; and grandchildren, Stacey Cornils and her husband, Scott, and Valerie Harwell, all of Fort Worth.

Dellaine Bacon Howard
FORT WORTH -- Dellaine "Dee" Bacon Howard, 51, a jewelery maker and retired owner of Poloma Creations, died Monday, Aug. 4, 1997, in Fort Worth.

Memorial service: 4 p.m. Saturday at Shannon-TCU Funeral Chapel.

Memorials: charity of choice.

Dellaine "Dee" Bacon Howard was born Feb. 5, 1946, in Graham. She graduated from Aledo High School. From 1978 to 1983, Dee was a top-producing real estate agent for Betty Dickens Realty. In 1983, due to health problems, she retired from real estate and created her own company, Poloma Creations. Dee taught herself the art of designing and creating jewelry. Her jewelry is sold in boutiques throughout the United States.

We all have watched her children grow to fine men and seen her metamorphosis from wonderful woman, friend, mother, sister and daughter to become even more wonderful in her growth as a person. She was successful in so many aspects of her life and grew from pain and hardships. She always loved life and lived it to the fullest.

Dee had a wealth of love in her heart for those close to her and a capacity for love that knew no bounds. She was generous with her time, companionship, possessions and with her life.

Dee enjoyed traveling and traveled extensively throughout Europe, Mexico and the United States.

Dee will be lovingly missed by her family and many, many friends.

We will all keep a special vision of her walking through the wildflowers and swimming with the dolphins.

Survivors: Sons, Jeff Dixon of Denton and Jarrod Dixon of Traverse City, Mich.; mother, Martha Cope of Granbury; and sisters, Sheila Davis of Joshua and Jackie Smith of Granbury.

GRAND PRAIRIE -- Quentin King Hughes, 88, a postal clerk who retired in 1975 after 25 years of service, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1997, at a Dallas hospital.

Funeral: 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Bean- Massey-Burge Funeral Home. Burial: Southland Memorial Park.

Quentin Hughes was born Dec. 15, 1908, in Mesquite.

Survivors: Wife of 57 years, Josephine Hughes; brother, W.W. Hughes; sister, Pauline Gardner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

STEPHENVILLE -- Carl Lewis Jones, 41, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1997, at his residence in the Exray community in Erath County.

Graveside service: 10 a.m. Friday in Exray Cemetery.

Carl Lewis Jones was born Jan. 21, 1956, in San Antonio.

He had lived in the Exray community for the past four years, having moved from Dallas.

Survivors: Brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Sarah Jones of Exray; aunt and uncle, Texanna and Billy Jones of San Angelo; and nephew, Chris Krizmanic of Exray.

Kittie Morrison Latimer
ARLINGTON -- Kittie Morrison Latimer, 89, a retired telephone company supervisor, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1997, in Arlington.

Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Friday at Lucas Funeral Home. Burial: Parker Memorial Cemetery in Grapevine. Visitation: noon to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Kittie Morrison Latimer retired from Southwestern Bell after 29 years of service. She was a member of Bridgewood Church of Christ.

Survivors: Son, Jerry and his wife, Ann Latimer, of Woodland, Calif.; sister, Cleo Lemons of Fort Worth; three grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nine stepgreat- grandchildren; nieces, Sharon and her husband, James Arber, and Dennah Lemons, all of Arlington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Johnie M. Morgan LeBas
FORT WORTH -- Johnie M. Morgan LeBas, 82, a homemaker, died Monday, Aug. 4, 1997, at a North Richland Hills hospital.

Johnie LeBas was born Feb. 1, 1915, in Daingerfield.

She had lived in the Fort Worth area since 1928.

Survivors: Brothers, Bill Morgan and Buddy Morgan, both of Alvarado; sister, Nadine Neel of Fort Worth; and a number of nieces and nephews.

William A. Maguire
FORT WORTH -- William A. Maguire, 86, an employee of Ford Motor Co. who retired in 1971 after 25 years, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1997, in Fort Worth.

Memorial service: 6 p.m. Friday at Twin Oaks Baptist Church, 1301 Main St., Hwy. 377, Keller.

His body was donated to the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth.

William Maguire was born Sept. 10, 1910, in Portland, Ore. He served in the Army about 16 years, having served with Gen. D. MacArthur in The Philippines prior to World War II and was stationed at Pearl Harbor and Fort MacArthur during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Merchant Maguire, on Nov. 2, 1972.

Survivors: Son, Paul Maguire; daughter-in-law, Rexie Maguire; granddaughters, Samantha Maguire and Amber Smith; grandson, Keith Woodward; five great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.

ARLINGTON -- Otilia S. Martinez, 75, a retired HCA of Arlington housekeeper, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1997, in Arlington.

Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at St. Matthews Catholic Church. Burial: Emerald Hills Memorial Park. Vigil: 7 p.m. Thursday at Moore Funeral Home-Bowen Chapel.

Otilia S. Martinez was born May 14, 1922, in Runge. She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio R. Martinez, in 1990.

Survivors: Sons, Rudy Martinez, Ruben Martinez and Richard Martinez, all of Arlington, and Rene Martinez of Indio, Calif.; daughters, Herminia De Los Reyes, Mary E. Martinez and Mary Isaac, all of Grand Prairie; 20 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Benjamin B. McAndrew Jr.
DALLAS -- Benjamin B. McAndrew Jr., 79, retired vice president of Mercantile National Bank, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1997, in Dallas after a brief illness.

Graveside service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Greenwood Memorial Park.

Memorials: in lieu of flowers, please give to a charity of choice.

Benjamin B. McAndrew Jr. was born Sept. 3, 1918, in Union Springs, Ala. He graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Following graduation, he worked for Delta Airlines. After moving to Fort Worth, he married the former Catherine E. McDonald. They had 53 wonderful years together. Ben was one of the pioneers in the aviation financing and insurance business and was one of the founders of Aviation Insurance Underwriters of Fort Worth. Later, he moved to Dallas, where he started and ran the private aircraft financing area of the Mercantile National Bank. He was a vice president at the bank when he retired in 1980.

Survivors: Loving wife, Catherine Elaine McAndrew; son, Ben B. McAndrew III and his wife, B.D.; and grandchildren, Laura Elizabeth McAndrew and Robert Bonnell McAndrew.

B.L. McDowell
CLEBURNE -- B.L. McDowell, 74, a retired truck driver for Mrs Baird's Bakeries, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1997, at a local hospital.

Graveside service: 3 p.m. Thursday in Rose Hill Cemetery in Cleburne.

B.L. McDowell was born July 22, 1923, in Wise County. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He began working for Mrs Baird's in 1946 and retired a few years ago after 40-plus years of service. For the last several years he had lived in Cleburne, Texas.

Survivors: Wife, Barbara McDowell of Cleburne; daughters, Linda Sharp of Saginaw and Tammy Winters of Azle; stepdaughters, Pam Whitehead of Godley, Kristi Baker of Cleburne and Guylyn Fraley of Statesville, N.C.; sisters, Arzella Harris of Decatur and Alyene Burnett of Lawton, Okla.; brother, Ed McDowell of Decatur; five grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.

Kathryn Mills was born Aug. 6, 1916, in Frost, Texas. She retired from the FAA in 1977 after 11 years.

Survivors: Brother, Don Thompson of Fort Worth; sisters, Wilma Graham and Geraldine Barton, both of Fort Worth; and several nieces and nephews.

Cliff Nickell
HURST -- Cliff "Nick" Nickell, 71, a retired Southland Life employee, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 1997, in Bedford.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. Graveside service: 1:30 p.m. in Restland Memorial Park in Dallas. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Cliff "Nick" Nickell, who was known affectionately as "Mr. Nick," was born Oct. 1, 1925, in Morgan Township, Ill. He was a World War II Navy veteran. Mr. Nickell retired after 28 years from Southland Life, where he was a senior insurance underwriter, and after 20 years from Foley's.

Survivors: Wife of 11 years, Peggy Nickell of Hurst; son, Russell Nickell of Plano; daughters, Cheryl Nickell of Irving, Cindy Consolver and her husband, Mike, of Bedford and Mickey Canipe and her husband, Steve, of Garland; six grandchildren; stepsons, David Consolver and his wife, Debra, of Arlington, Matt Consolver and his wife, Patti, of Hurst and Greg Consolver of Arlington; and stepdaughter, Charlotte Cline and her husband, Marshall, of Mesquite.

David Allen Pollock was born April 4, 1951, in Bridgeport.
