Alice Faye Miller

SPEARMAN - Alice Faye Miller, 63, died Friday, June 1, 2007.

Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2007 in Hansford Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Elder officiating. Arrangements were by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.

Mrs. Miller was born March 22, 1944, in Spearman. She married Bill L. Miller on February 9, 1957, in Raton, N.M.

She was a lifetime Spearman resident and a caregiver.

Survivors include her husband, Bill L. Miller; two daughters, Cynthia Burton of Spearman and Patricia Wyrick and husband James of Amarillo; a son, Billy L. Miller II and wife Martina of Spearman; three brothers, George Rex and wife Tina of Spearman, Gene Rex and wife Ada of Canadian and Ronald Rex and wife Joy of Pampa; two sisters, Brenda Vera and husband Johnny and Sybil Vera and husband Ruben, all of Spearman; a sister-in-law, Lola Durfey of Joplin, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and lots of friends.

The family suggests memorials be to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1131, Fairfax, VA 22038-1131; or Hansford Hospice, 707 Roland, Spearman, TX 79081.

L.A. Williams

GRUVER - L.A. Williams, 81, died on Sunday, May 27, 2007.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Gruver Cemetery with Gaylord Cook officiating. Interment will be under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.

Mr. Williams was born on Octoer 3, 1925 in Reynolds County, Texas. He married Farene Odom on August 23, 1946 in Borger. He was a farmer and a veteran of Navy and World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Farene, of the home; two sons, Morris Williams of Payson, Az and Neal Williams of Gruver; a daughter, Brenda Henderson of Freising, Germany; a sister, Jackie Smith of Granbury; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family reqeusts memorials be to Hansford Hospice or Hansford Manor, 707 Roland, Spearman TX 79081.

Cleta Copenhaver Casdorph

GRUVER - Cleta Copenhaver Casdorph, 81, died on Sunday, May 20, 2007.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the Church of Christ in Gruver with Gaylord Cook officiating. Interment will be in Gruver Cemetery under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.

Cleta was born on April 1, 1926 in Sayre, Oklahoma. She married Charley Adam Casdorph on September 28, 2946 in Sayre, OK.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ in Gruver.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rollie and Dollie Copenhaver, and her husband, Charley, in 1993.

Survivors include two sons, Charley Casdorph, Jr. and Rex Casdorph, both of Gruver; three daughters, Brenda Pratt of Gruver and Judy Martin and Renee McWhirter, both of Dalhart; a sister, Nadie Burks of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

The family requests memorials be to Hansford Hospice, 707 S. Roland, Spearman TX 79081 or the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell, Amarillo TX 79109.

Don Heddins

GRUVER - Don Heddins, 73, died Sunday, April 17, 2011.

Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011 in First Baptist Church in Gruver with the Rev. Scott Curry, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. MDT Thursday in Melrose Cemetery in Melrose, N.M. Arrangements were by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon.

Mr. Heddins was born Nov. 16, 1937, to Dorothy Louise Alexander and Melvin Eugene Heddins in Sullivan, Ill. In 1957, he settled in Hereford, married and was blessed with five children.

Don worked hard to provide for his growing family by taking jobs in the farming and cattle industry.

In 1974, he moved his family to Gruver. He was united in marriage to Alice Louise Coffey Hawkins on Aug. 20, 1978, in Friona.

In the 1980s, Don began driving trucks full time, hauling cattle as an owner/operator for many years. He enjoyed the trucking industry and traveling all over the country. Don and Louise built and enjoyed their mountain cabin in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. He was a member of Gruver First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Louise Heddins, in 2007; a daughter, Kristi Heddins Kennedy, in 2008; a grandson, Garet Hawkins, in 1983; a great-grandchild, Destiny Cheyenne Heddins, in 2007; and a son-in-law, Ray McCubbin, in 2010.

Don is survived by two daughters, Donna McCubbin and Rhonda Smith of Spearman; five sons, James Heddins and wife Michelle of Williston, Fla., Tim Heddins and wife Zenith of Gruver, Jerry Hawkins and wife Donna of Logan, N.M., Roy Hawkins and wife Connie of Guymon, Okla, and Monty Hawkins and wife Shelley of Perry, Okla.; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Mickey Lackey.

The family suggests memorials be to American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association, in care of Henson-Novak Funeral Directors, P.O. Box 1306, Guymon, OK 73942.

Franklin “Frank” John Heinz

LAVERNE, Okla. - Franklin "Frank" John Heinz, 74, died Saturday, March 26, 2011, at his home in Laverne.

Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2011 in Laverne Assembly of God in Laverne with the Revs. Wesley Peterman and Don Baltazer officiating. Burial was in Cemetery in Gate. Military graveside rites were by Laverne American Legion Post No. 273. Arrangements are by Mason Funeral Home of Shattuck.

Mr. Heinz was born July 26, 1936, to Adolph Gus and Mable Elizabeth Smith Heinz in Beaver County. He was united in marriage to Pauline Riley in Spearman, Texas, in July 1965.

Survivors include his wife of Laverne; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Joyce Lamb Jennings

SPEARMAN - Joyce Lamb Jennings, 86, died Friday, March 18, 2011.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Holt Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.

Mrs. Jennings was born in Hansford County on Feb. 6, 1925. She was a farmer. Mrs. Jennings was a graduate of West Texas State University.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mose and Edna Lamb; a sister, Laura Johnson; and a son, Joe Jennings.

Survivors include a granddaughter, Leila Jennings Vela of Lubbock; a grandson, Trevor Jennings; a guardian, Yvette Hopper of Spearman and two great-grandchildren.

The family suggest memorials be to Hansford Hospice; or Hansford Manor Empty Stocking Fund, 707 Roland St., Spearman, TX 79081.

Betty Carol Redwine

GRUVER - Betty Carol Redwine, 64, died Monday, March 14, 2011, in Spearman.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church in Gruver with the Rev. Scott Curry officiating. Burial will be in Lieb Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.

Mrs. Redwine was born in Amarillo to Fred and Dollie Baker. She married Kenneth Redwine on July 14, 1968, in Dumas. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Dollie Baker; and a brother, Fred Alva Baker Jr.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Redwine of Gruver; a daughter, Renee Miller of Amarillo; a son, Danny Redwine of Russell, Kan.; a brother, Glen Baker of Denver; a stepbrother, Bobby Baker of Fairview, Ark.; and four grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Hansford Hospice, 707 Roland St., Spearman, TX 79081; or a favorite charity.

Mildred Trayler

PERRYTON - Mildred Trayler, 91, died Sunday, March 13, 2011, in Amarillo.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Metzger officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton.

Mrs. Trayler was born July 5, 1919, in Perryton to Grover and Mary Brillhart. She married Robert B. Trayler on Jan. 3, 1940.

Survivors include a son, Richard Trayler of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a daughter, Roxana Morton of Oklahoma City; a sister, Kathleen Brillhart of Spearman; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Senior Village Memorial Fund, 3101 S. Main St., Perryton, TX 79070.

Jerry Daniel Sheets

SPEARMAN - Jerry Daniel Sheets, 71, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Church of Christ in Spearman with Larry McCollum officiating. Private family graveside services will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.

Jerry was born Feb. 3, 1940, in Borger to Pinky and Jean Sheets. He attended high school at Spearman, served one enlistment in the U.S. Army, and attended college at Panhandle State and College of the Mainland.

He worked his younger years as a cowboy for the family and Adobe Walls Cattle Co.

He married Carol Ann Lovett Sheets in 1961, (victim of cancer 1997). In 1965, he moved to Texas City and worked 25 years as a chemicals operator for Union Carbide.

Throughout his life he was always considered "the man with the answers," and was sought out by friends and family alike for his keen wisdom and assistance.

Jerry was special to everyone who met him. He loved his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Jan Vernon Sheets; two children, Tommy Daniel Sheets of Lago Vista and Jeri Ann Randall of Canyon; five grandchildren, Sandra Sheets, Jacqueline Sheets, Kimberly Sheets, David Randall and Julie Randall; a brother, Perry Sheets of San Antonio; his uncles, aunts and nieces; two stepsons, Brent Banister of Brady and Quinn Banister of San Angelo; two cherished dogs, Kat and Kali; and countless friends.

Hershel Lee Jones

SHALLOWATER, TX - Hershel Lee Jones, age 82, of Shallowater, Texas, formerly of Spearman, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2011. Services were held Monday, March 7 at 11 am at First Baptist Church in Spearman.

Hershel was born December 8, 1928 in Canadian, Texas to Lee and May Jones. He was a 1946 graduate of Spearman High School and attended Texas A&M University. Hershel married Wanda Pearl Robason on June 18, 1954 in Friona.

Hershel and Wanda began their life together in Spearman where Hershel worked for Excel Chevrolet. Hershel served on the Spearman School Board, coached Little League, supported Boy Scouts and attended First Baptist Church.

Hershel’s greatest joy was his family. He loved family outings and being involved in all the activities of his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by Wanda, his wife of 56 years; daughter, Rhonda Wheeler and her husband, Brent of Dalhart; son, Roger Jones and his wife, Dianne of West Des Moines, IA; and son Jim Jones and his wife, Martha of Shallowater; and ten grandchildren, Kailee and Damian Maguire, Justin and Sarah Jones, Clint Wheeler, Jill Jones, Jacob Jones, Savannah Jones, Rebekah Jones, Grant Wheeler, Don Jones, Cy Jones; and great grandson, Baby Maguire.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hershel Jones Memorial Fund for the Benefit of Grant Wheeler Autism Support at First State Bank, PO Box 160 Shallowater, TX 79363.

Betty Jo Riley Perry

SPEARMAN - Betty Jo Riley Perry, 77, died Saturday, March 5, 2011.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011 in Church of Christ in Spearman with Larry McCollum, minister, officiating. Arrangements are by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.

Mrs. Perry was born Oct. 1, 1933, in Gilliland, and had been a Spearman resident for 45 years. She was a secretary for a bank.

Survivors include two sons, Paul Dean Comegys of Wichita, KS, and Jay Glenn Comegys of Amarillo; three daughters, JoNell Comegys of Birmingham, AL, Alisia Ann Langston of Canyon and Jesica Dawn Reeves of Fort Worth; a brother, Jim Rile of Spokane, WA; three sisters, Charlene Flanagan of Borger, Christine Hymer of Stephenville and Pat McQuary of Borger; and six grandchildren.

Lezlie Lynn Visoski

RICHMOND, TX - Lezlie Lynn Visoski, 57, of Richmond, passed away Monday, February 14, at Memorial Hermann Sugar Land.

Funeral services were at 5 p.m. Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg. A funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 21, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan. Entombment followed at Msgr. Gleissner Mausoleum.

Lezlie was born December 30, 1953 in Spearman, to Lee Roy "Sonny" and Mary Faith (Oakes) Nollner. She and Greg were married November 21, 1986 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Richmond. Lezlie loved to go saltwater fishing, working outdoors and just staying home with Greg. She was a huge Bon Jovi fan. Lezlie was a wonderful wife, daughter, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.

Lezlie was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Henry "Hank" Visoski.

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Gregory Visoski of Richmond; daughter, Ginger Essex of Colorado; father, Sonny Nollner of Spearman; mother, Mary Faith Brown of Borger; sisters, Frances Jackson of Amarillo and Tammy Kay Batton of Speraman; grandchildren, Andrea and Amee Essex; mother-in-law, Hattie Visoski of Bryan; brother-in-law, Michael Visoski of Rosenberg; and numerous other relatives and friends.

D'Lana Kay Brillhart

SLATON - D'Lana Kay Brillhart, 58, died Sunday, March 6, 2011, in Guymon, OK.

Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2011 in Brillhart Ranch Cemetery in Spearman, on the Palo Duro Creek. Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in Southside Church of Christ in Lubbock. Arrangements were by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.

D'Lana was born Dec. 24, 1952, in Lubbock to the late Tom and Bernice Ansley. She graduated from Lubbock High School. She attended Texas Tech University. On March 9, 1979, she married Mart Brillhart in Slaton. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Bernice Ansley.

Survivors include her husband, Mart Brillhart of Slaton; and a daughter, Melissa Brillhart of Spearman.

The family suggests memorials be to Texas Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 5665, Lubbock, TX 79408; Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, TX, 79174-0001; or Make-A-Wish Foundation, 4413 82nd St. No. 203, Lubbock, TX 79424-3366.

Billy "Bill" Eugene Harris

DUMAS - Billy "Bill" Eugene Harris, 78, died Thursday, March 3, 2011.

Services were at 2 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2011 in Calvary Baptist Church with Brad Foster, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Dumas Cemetery with a flag detail provided by American Legion Post 224 of Dumas. Arrangements were by Morrison Funeral Directors.

Bill was born Aug. 28, 1932, in Etter to Irwin Linzy and Leona Mae Harris. He married DeVonna Wilson on Sept. 29, 1956, in Clayton, N.M. He served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years including the Korean War. He was very patriotic and proud of his military career. He was later employed as a cement contractor.

Bill was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Dumas. He loved listening to music, especially gospel. He loved God and his church, and was very devoted to both.

Bill had a great sense of humor and enjoyed life. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, and he especially enjoyed playing with his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carroll Harris and Jerrell Harris; and a son-in-law, Brian Hunt.

Survivors include his wife, DeVonna; two daughters, Cheryl Gross and husband Phil of Mustang, OK, and Bonnie Hunt of Dumas; a son, Billy Harris and wife Renee of Borger; three brothers, Irwin L. Harris of Franktown, CO, Jim Harris of Dumas and Curtis Harris of Kennett Square, Pa.; two sisters, Marie Gould of McKinney and Alice Davis of Spearman; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or Calvary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 633, Dumas, TX 79029.

The family will be at 1005 Mills Ave. in Dumas.
