Geoffrey Martel Caldwell

WHEELER - Geoffrey Martel Caldwell, 71, died Thursday, April 22, 2010, in Mobeetie.

Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Saturday in Mobeetie Cemetery with the Rev. Erron Mercer, pastor of Cornerstone Church in Wheeler, officiating. Arrangements were by Wright Funeral Home.

Geoffrey was born March 24, 1939, in Canadian to Austin Caldwell and Bernice Craig Caldwell. He was raised in Mobeetie. He married Fredia in August 2002 in Wheeler.

Geoffrey moved to Amarillo in 1958, where he worked for First National Bank of Amarillo for 32 years.

Geoffrey moved back to Mobeetie in 1992 after his retirement. He was a member of the Cornerstone Church in Wheeler.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Godwin.

Survivors include his wife, Fredia of Mobeetie; three sons, Mike Caldwell of Dumas, Greg Caldwell of Pennsylvania and Matthew Caldwell; a stepdaughter, Dana Wills of Gruver; a stepson, Cavitt Ashby of Borger; and 17 grandchildren.

Ruth Evelyn Coates

TYLER – Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Evelyn Coates, 81, of Tyler, were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2010, at the Elliott Memorial Chapel at Boren-Conner Funeral Home, Bullard with Rev. Kim Beckham and Rev. David Tarr officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Boren-Conner Funeral Home, Bullard.

Ruth Coates was born October 11, 1928 in Atlas, TX. She had resided in the Tyler area for the past 20 years and was a housewife. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, Tyler.

Mrs. Coates died in Tyler on Thursday, April 14, 2010 at Hospice of E.T.

Mrs. Coates was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Clay and Nancy Ann Martin; her husband, Walter D. Coates; a son, Ronald Gene Coates; a grandson, Michael Meyer; two brothers; and five sisters.

She is survived by three sons, Duane Coates of Denton, Donald Coates of Halton City, and Billy Coates of Longview; two daughters, Barbara Goodknight of Tyler and Carolyn McLeod of Spearman; a sister, Penney McGraw of Oklahoma City; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Central Baptist Church Benevolent Fund, 343 Grande Boulevard, Tyler TX 75703-3981.

Marilyn Gayle Holland Cross

GUYMON, OK - Marilyn Gayle Holland Cross, 66, died Thursday, April 15, 2010, in McKinney, Texas.

Graveside services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon with the Rev. Odie Nunley officiating. Arrangements were by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cross was born Feb. 22, 1944, in Hooker to William Everett and Ovie Cecile Ralstin Holland. She married Billy Von Cross on Nov. 26, 1964, in Straight.

Survivors include two daughters, Karrie Collins of Edmond and Tonya Miles of McKinney; five grandchildren; and four brothers and sisters, Eugene Holland of Olathe, Kan., Anna Marie Holland of Spearman, Texas, and Rita Holland and Ross Holland, both of Guymon.

The family suggests memorials be to American Cancer Society, in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942.

Billie “Dickie” Kiker Allen

SPEARMAN – Billie “Dickie” Kiker Allen, age 84, died Friday April 16, 2010. Services were Monday, April 19, at 2 p.m., in the Spearman Church of Christ with Frank Pittman and Larry McCullum officiating. Burial was in Hansford Cemetery under arrangement of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.

“Dickie” was born in Spearman Texas on April 5, 1926. She married Newell Allen on December 23, 1972 in Amarillo. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Spearman, a 1943 graduate of Spearman High School and graduated from North West Texas School of Nursing in 1946 as a registered nurse (RN). She served as Spearman School Nurse for 31 years and as Hansford County Health Nurse for many years. She was a Girl Scout leader and Camp nurse. She was a charter member of the Gladiola Flower Club.

She loved to play bridge and belonged to several bridge clubs. She was an avid sports fan. Loved to read and was a crossword puzzle enthusiast. She painted in oil, and water colors as well as tole painted. She and Newell enjoyed recreational vehicle travel and loved to take their grandchildren to the mountains.

Her son, Skipper Robinson and wife Pati of Austin, Texas, two daughters, Linn (Robinson) Riley and husband Mike of Perryton and Diana Parker of Amarillo, one sister, Lora Kay Kiker Jackson of Amarillo, survive her.

Five grandchildren, three granddaughters, Elisa (Robinson) Bennett of Tyler, Texas, Amy (Riley) Dear of Perryton, Sally Donahue Swan of Perryton, two grandsons, Aaron Robinson of Dallas, Texas, and John Riley of Mesquite, Texas survive her.

Nine great-grandchildren, seven great-grandsons, Aidan Robinson of Dallas, Riley and Ashton Dear, Reid, Chance and Hudson Swan all of Perryton, Cole Riley of Mesquite, two great-granddaughters, Chloe Bennett of Tyler and Emily Riley of Mesquite survive her.

One niece, Marcia Jo Larson Wood of Collinsville, Oklahoma, three nephews, Richard Larson of Houston, Kenny and Michael Jackson of Amarillo survive her.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Hansford Hospital and Hansford Manor for their excellent and loving care of our mother, sister, grandmother and aunt who loved all of you.

The family request memorials be to Hansford Manor, 707 Roland, Spearman, Texas 79081 or Spearman Church of Christ, 121 Haney, Spearman, Texas, 79081, or one’s favorite charity.

Clara Marie Frische Stork

Clara Marie Frische Stork, 81, passed away Friday, April 9, 2010. Rosary was said at 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 12 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Mass was held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 13, at the church with Fr. Juan Carlos Barragan, pastor of the church officiating. Burial was in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors.

Clara Marie Stork was born May 14, 1928 in Dawn, Texas to Eugene and Maria Frische. She graduated from West Texas High School in Canyon in 1945. On April 22, 1947 she married J.R. Stork of Nazareth. He preceded her in death. They were lifelong farmers and they retired in December 1997 and moved to Dumas. Clara was a member of the Dumas Catholic Women's Society for over 50 years. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She received the Sherman County Conservation Homemaker of the year in 1995. She had been a resident of Dumas for 13 years and was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

Survivors include; sons, Greg Stork and wife, Diana of Gruver, Arnold Stork and wife Pamela of Dumas; daughters, Janet Stork of Dumas, Marie Mahannah and husband Randy of Perryton, Judy Gilbert and husband, Randall of Clovis, NM, Cindy Johnson and husband, David of Texhoma, Connie Evans and husband, Donnie of Lubbock; brother, Godfrey Frische of Dalhart; 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their thanks to Memorial Hospice and Dumas Memorial Hospital for the love and kindness they gave our precious mother, Clara.

The family suggests memorials be to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. 2nd, Dumas, TX 79029.

Atanacia 'Annie' Torres

SPEARMAN - Atanacia 'Annie' Torres, 60, died April 6, 2010.

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m, on Thursday, April 8, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Reverend Gregory Bunyan officiating. Rosary services will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7th at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery following the funeral services on April 8th, under arrangements by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.

Annie was born in San Luise, Potosi, Mexico on May 2, 1949. She married Matias Torres on October 1, 1966 in Madero, Mexico. She was a Catholic.

Matias Torres, her husband, one daughter, Maria Soldevilla of Borger, two sons, Jose Torres of Amarillo, Manuel Torres of Ft. Worth, and 10 grandchildren survive her.

Glenn William Johnson

AMARILLO - Glenn William Johnson, 55, of Amarillo died Friday, April 2, 2010.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Bryan Vallance of Pleasant Valley Assembly of God officiating.

Mr. Johnson was born Nov. 13, 1954, in Heidelberg, Germany, to Ann Elizabeth and William Theodore Johnson. He was raised in Canyon. He then joined the U.S. Army and later worked in construction.

Survivors include a son, Ricky Johnson and wife Kristen of Spearman; six sisters, Pat Bennefield, Pam Cooke and husband Terry, and Jan Weathers and husband George, all of Amarillo, Sheila Ferrer and husband Aldo of Dallas, and Shari Morrow and husband Len and Tonya Martinez and husband Juan, all of Lubbock; two grandchildren, Ashland and Hunter; and many nieces and nephews.

Janet Sutherland Irwin

Janet Sutherland Irwin, 80, of Gruver, died on Thursday, April 1, 2010.

Services will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday in the Gruver United Methodist Church with Dr. Brad Reeves officiating. Private family burial will precede the service at the Gruver Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Spearman.

Janet was born in Windsor, Missouri, on July 2, 1929, to Elbert Leland Sutherland and Nannie Johnston Sutherland. She was raised on a farm outside of Windsor, Missouri, the youngest of three daughters. She graduated from Windsor High School and received music degrees from Christian College in Columbia, Missouri, and Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri. She married Kenneth Eugene Irwin in Windsor, Missouri, on June 10, 1950. He preceded her in death on September 8, 2009.

After their wedding, Janet and Kenneth moved from Missouri to Gruver, Texas, where Kenneth began a 59 year career at the newly formed Gruver State Bank and Janet became the music teacher in the Gruver public schools. Janet's teaching was interrupted while she raised four young children, but she resumed teaching music in Gruver public schools and continued teaching until 1972. She enjoyed instilling the love of music in her students.

Janet and Kenneth were active members of the Gruver United Methodist Church for 59 years where she served on numerous committees. She directed the church choir for over 50 years and put on countless cantatas and musical programs. She had a beautiful voice and shared it with others. She was also a longtime member and past president of the Gruver Music Club. Janet served as Vice-Chairman of the Gruver State Bank and GSB Bancshares, Inc. until her death.

Janet's family, music, and church were her life. She had the heart of a servant and faithfully gave all of herself to those around her. She was loved and admired by her family and friends.

Survivors include her two sisters: Ruth Annetta Silver of Windsor, Missouri, and Jean Simmons of Mesa, Arizona; four children: a daughter, Debby Irwin Odom of Gruver and her children: Kenton Odom and wife, Jodi; Grant Odom; Jill Weller and husband, Ryan; and Dan Odom; a son, John S. Irwin and wife, Janie, of Amarillo and their children: Jase Irwin and wife, Lindsey; Jeff Irwin and wife, Carrie; and Mary Jane Neilson and husband, Chris; a son, Mark K. Irwin and wife, Pat of Gruver and their son Kyle Irwin and wife, Kimberly; a son, Clint J. Irwin and wife, Jody and their children: Brock Irwin and Tanner Irwin; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family wish to express their gratitude to the staff at the Hansford Manor and Hansford Hospice for the loving care Janet received from them in her last days.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Gruver United Methodist Church at P.O. Box 977, Gruver, Texas 79040, Hansford Hospice at 707 S. Roland, Spearman, Texas 79081, or a favorite charity.

Phyllis Ann Rasor

Phyllis Ann Rasor, 73, of Gruver, Texas passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at the BSA Hospice in Amarillo, Texas.

The daughter of Jess Marion and Nancy Ann (Conrad) Christie, she was born October 7, 1936 in Springfield, Colorado. Phyllis was raised in Springfield where she attended school, graduating from Springfield High School.

Phyllis and Tommy Wayne Rasor were united in marriage on May 19, 1956 in Clayton, New Mexico. In 1967 the Rasor family moved to Sunray, Texas from Springfield and then to Gruver in 1981 where Tom joined his brother in farming.

Phyllis and Tom owned and operated the Horseshoe Inn in Gruver, which Phyllis continued after Tom's death on November 15, 2002. She was an active member of the Gruver First Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister.

Survivors include one son, George Rasor and wife, Linda of Dimmitt, Texas; one daughter, Beverley and husband, Ralph Mireles of Gruver, Texas; five grandchildren: Laura Rasor of Athens, Texas, Michael Rasor, Sarah Manor and husband Nate of Ralls, Texas, Lindsey Mireles and Drew Mireles; one great-granddaughter, Keirah Rasor; one sister, Wanda Mills of Walsh, Colorado and two brothers: Raymond Christie and wife, Thelma of Springfield, Colorado and Byron Christie and wife, Sharon of Lahoma, Oklahoma.

Graveside services will be held Saturday morning, April 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Gruver Cemetery. A celebration of life service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 3rd at the Gruver First Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Curry officiating and Pastor Ralph Mireles assisting. Services are under the care of the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the Hansford County Hospice or the Gruver E.M.S. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942.

Julie Ann Baumgardner

PANHANDLE - Julie Ann Baumgardner, 31, died Sunday, March 28, 2010 in Carson County.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2010 at First Christian Churcy with Rev. Scott Curry, pastor of First Baptist Church in Gruver officiating and Pastor Larry Perkins, minister of First Christian Church of Panhandle assisting. Interment will be in Panhandle Cemetery under the direction of Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.

Mrs. Baumgardner was born on October 16, 1978 in Watonga, Oklahoma and had been a Carson County resident since 2000. She married Kelly Baumgardner on June 21, 1997 in Gruver. She was a secretary for Brandvik Pipe & Equipment and a member of the Gruver First Baptist Church.

Julie is survived by her husband Kelly of the home; three daughters - Kelcey, Kalli and Kloe all of the home; father Gary Payne and step-mother Donna Payne of Fairview, OK; mother Kathy Dillard and step-father - Moe Dillard of Loyal, OK; brother Jason Payne and wife Jamie of Watonga, OK; half-brothers - Michael Dillard and wife Vandi of Cleveland, OK and Keith Dillard of Loyal, OK; half-sister Tiffany Payne of Fairview, OK; step-sisters Gena Brawley and husband Lee of Fairview, OK, Jennifer Flinn and husband Monte of Mountainview, OK and Charly Taylor of Fairview, OK; grandmothers Donna Payne of Watonga, OK and Artie Geeslin of Greenfield, OK; step-grandparents Bill & Harriet Dillard of Mustang, OK and Donald Pittman of Weatherford, OK.

Neil J. Horgan

ORANGE COUNTY, CA - Neil J. Horgan, 85, passed away March 19, 2010.

He was born February 6, 1925 in NYC, NY, the only son of Neil and Sylvia Horgan.

He married Joyce in 1961 and raised his family in Orange County. He lived many different places in his youth. He retired from Allstate Ins. Co. in 1995, after 30 years.

Neil was active in the community and served diligently in church callings. He became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 80 years old.

He greatly enjoyed the game of golf and had a wonderful sense of humor and curiosity. He was a wise, generous and compassionate husband, father, grandfather and friend. His positive outlook was contagious!

He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Philip Patrick Horgan, and his sister, Nancy Gillert of Powatan, VA.

He is survived by his wife; his son, Ric (Jodie) and grandsons, Neil, Nolan and Jacob of SLC, UT; daughter, Kelly Garnett (Jon) and grandchildren, Brynr, Kegan, Sutten, Gately, Addy, Finley and Aiden of Spearman, TX; daughter-in-law, Tina (Greg Brannis) and grandsons, Nathan and Bode of Costa Mesa, CA; sister, Salli Burch of Camrillo, CA.

Funeral services were held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2775 Placentia Ave, Costa Mesa on Friday, March 26, 2010, at 1 p.m.

Sarah 'Lulu' Hargrove

HOUSE, NM - Sarah 'Lulu' Hargrove, age 61, of House, NM, died Saturday, March 27, 2010. She was born February 5, 1949, in Sudan, TX, to the home of Thomas and Lenora Kelly Sharp.

She married Hilous Hargrove on February 20, 1970 in Sudan, Texas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in House, NM. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and loved to read, crochet, and collect eagles.

She is survived by her husband, Hilous of the home; son Joey Wayne (Tracy) Hargrove of Portales, NM; 4 brothers, Tex Sharp and Mickel Sharp of Sudan, Texas, Rocky Sharp of Portales, NM and Joey Sharp of Spearman, TX; sister, Judy Conley of Sudan, TX; grandchildren, Colton Hargrove, Desirea Hargrove, and Whitney Hargrove of Portales, NM. Her extended family included 2 daughters Tomi Lavender of House, NM and Cynthia Tivis of Canyon, Tx and a granddaughter, Hannah Lavender of House, NM. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Mickel Chad Hargrove; sister, Vickie Hargrove and brother, Danny Wallace

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at First Baptist Church in House, NM with Ron Fox officiating. Burial will be at Hansford Cemetery in Spearman, Texas, at 2 p.m. (CDT), Thursday, April 1, 2010. Pallbearers will be David Sharp, Ricky Sharp, Rocky Sharp, Tex Hargrove, Bill Runyan, Clint Runyan, Tom Hargrove, Don Moore, Steve Foust, and Sam Conley.

Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home, 800 E. Manana, Clovis, NM 88101, 575-763-5541.

Roy Glenn Bridwell

FORGAN, OK - Roy Glenn Bridwell, 49, died Monday, March 22, 2010.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 2010 in Beaver First Christian Church with Leah Jones and Jim Sutherland officiating. Burial will be in Forgan Cemetery by Clark Funeral Service of Beaver.

Mr. Bridwell was born August 2, 1960, in San Bernardino, CA, to Robert Ross and Velma Dorene Mossburg Bridwell. He married Joy Kingcade on March 13, 1993, in Perryton, Texas.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kyle and Blake Bridwell, both of Forgan; his mother of Beaver; two sisters, Betty Schollenbarger of Arizona and Roberta Bridwell of Spearman, TX; and one grandchild.

Barry Jon Goodall

ST. CHARLES, MO - Barry Jon Goodall died suddenly on February 1, 2010 at the age of 42. He is at peace with God. He had been Project Technology Coordinator at Jacobs Engineering Group.

He was born December 6, 1967 in Amarillo, Texas to Hugh Jon and Kathy Reynolds Goodall Coventry.

Survivors include his Mother and Step-father; of St. Charles, Mo.; son Camron Tyler Goodall of Flordia; son Christopher Michael Goodall of Kansas; sister Michelle Goodall Griffith of St.Charles, MO; sister Taffy Robbins ; brother Matthew Coventry of Ill. Many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews; and Cousins.

Barry was preceded in death by his father, Hugh Jon Goodall; Grandmother, Eula Goodall-Laster of Gruver and Amarillo, TX; Grandparents, Cecil and Ellen Reynolds of Spearman, TX; Uncle Cecil R Chisum of Borger, TX and other loved ones.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Assoc., Diabetes Foundation, or charity of choice.
