Don Houser

Donald Houser, 79, of Plantation, FL died MArch 22, 2008.

A memorial service was held Saturday, March 29, 2008, at his son's residence in Plantation FL. Cremation arrangements were by TM Ralph Plantation Funeral Home, www.tmralph.com.

Don is survived by his sons, David Houser of Denver, CO and Dough Houser of Plantation, FL; a daughter, Cindy Hirsch of Pompano Beach, FL; brothers Harold Houser of California, Howard Houser of Ohio, Gerald Houser of Tampa, FL; former wife, Pat Koch of Plantation, FL; former wife Lottie Smith Houser of Amarillo, TZ; and three grandchildren, Danielle Houser, and Jackie and Katie Hirsch.

In lieu fo flowers, donations may be made to Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund, 5420 NW 3 Ave, Suite 100, FT. Lauderdale FL 33308.

Nancy A. Burkhalter

Nancy Ann Burkhalter, beloved wife, mother and grandmother entered into rest on May 1, 2008 at the age of 60. She was born July 6, 1947 in San Antonio, the daughter of Charles and Consuelo Santos Shrimplin. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Alice, TX.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years George R. Burkhalter; two daughters, Michelle Tedder & her husband Jayme, Lisa Burkhalter, a granddaughter Micaela Tedder; and many other friends and family who will miss her very much.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 5, 2008 at Roy Akers - Zizik Kearns Funeral Chapels with the Vigil Service and Holy Rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m. The funeral procession will depart from the funeral home at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 6, 2008 for a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the ICU staff at Spohn South (Corpus Christi), the staff at Kindred Hospital (Corpus Christi), Dr. Anselmo Garcia, Dr. Narong and Dr. Jose Perez for all their care and support.

Alta Putman

Alta Putman, 100, of Amarillo, formerly of Perryton, died on April 27, 2008.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Ochiltree Cemetery in Perryton, Texas. Memorial services will be at 4:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd with Reverend Marvin Knox officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Putman was born November 21, 1907 in Gladys, LA to Clarence Collins & Francis Koonce Collins. She moved to the Spearman area in 1953.

She married A.M. Putman in Overton, Texas. When they moved to Perryton, she served as the city hostess for new residents for over 15 years, volunteered for the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Welfare Office in Perryton, was a hostess for the churches in Perryton. While in Amarillo, she was honored with Volunteer of the Day for her volunteer work at Ware Memorial Center.

She became a world traveler, visiting every continent and was in the first group of fifteen to visit when China was opened to tourism. She made many trips to Russia and to the Holy Land. She loved her travels.

She was a member of First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Austin Putman in 1968, two brothers, a sister, and a grandson, Jeff Lackey in 2000.

Survivors include her daughter, Joyce & husband Joel Lackey of Gruver; two sons, Lloyd & wife Jean Putman of Casper, Wyoming, Bill & wife Velma Putman of Denver, Colorado; brother, Clarence Collins, Jr. of Scottsdale, Arizona; six grandchildren, Virginia and husband Rick Conner of Casper, Wyoming, Jerry Putman and wife Gay of Odessa, Charlie Putman and wife Dianne of Denver, Colorado, Ed Putman and wife Charla of Casper, Wyoming, De'Aunn Putman of St. Paul, Minnesota, Janyth Bowers and husband Charles of Pampa; eight great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to BSA Hospice, PO Box 950, Amarillo, 79101 or your favorite charity.

A visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at the funeral home.

Johnnie Dale Waggoner

WHITNEY - Johnnie Dale Waggoner, 88, formerly of Spearman, died Thursday, April 24, 2008.

Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27, 2008 in Forest Park Cemetery in Anthony, KS. Arrangements were under the direction of Prairie Rose Funeral Home of Anthony.

Mr. Waggoner was born in rural Waldron, KS, to Rova Mae Swafford and Orva Vincent Waggoner Sr.

He attended Lydick country school and graduated from Spring High School. He served in the US Army and was a WWII veteran. On June 1, 1941 he married the love of his life, Ethel Conner in Cherokee, OK.

Survivors include his wife; three children, Betty & John Barker of Muskogee, OK, Darlene Campbell of Grand Prairie and Karen & Matt Lair of Whitney; nine grandchildren, Patrick Barker, Chris Barker, Kelly Barker, Kevin Campbell, Mandi Campbell, Shane Campbell, Tyler Lair Motley, Crosbie Lair Motley & Breean Lair; seven great-grandchildren, Lauren Barker, Stephen Barker, Sierra, Paige & Madeline Campbell, Maya Campbell, and Nicholas Motley;;two sisters, Luetta Bonham of Anthony, KS and June Moore of Wichita, KS; two brothers, F. Dee & Venita Waggoner of Sedgwick, KS, and David & Sue Waggoner of Menard; sister-in-law, Joyce Waggoner, Tribune, KS; many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Ann Waggoner; parents, Orva & Rova Mae Waggoner; brothers, Vincent & Wayne Waggoner; and sisters, Vinita Bellew & Ruth Hanke.

Jamie Alejandro Martinez

BEAVER, Okla.- Jamie Alejandro Martinez, 25, died Thursday, April 24, 2008.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Beaver First Christian Church with Rick Main and Obed Fernandez officiating. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery by Clark Funeral Service.

Mr. Martinez was born Oct. 12, 1982, in Walsh, Colo., to Gregorio and Maria Luisa Hernandez Martinez. He attended the First Christian Church and graduated from Beaver High School.

Survivors include his parents; three brothers, Jose Martinez of Forgan, Greg Martinez of Spearman, Texas, and Johnny Martinez of Oklahoma City; sisters, Silvia Crawley of Perryton, Texas, Lucy Lamas of Beaver and Wendy Standley of Wichita, Kan.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Harlene "Nanny" Judkins

STINNETT - Harlene "Nanny" Judkins, 64, formerly of Amarillo, died Monday, April 21, 2008.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Stinnett Cemetery with the Rev. Jim West officiating. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Christian Church. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Judkins was born July 26, 1943, in Guymon, Okla., to Henry and Beatrice Lytle Roper. She married Denny Judkins on July 31, 1960, in Guymon.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Harlona Ray Judkins and Earl Judkins, both of Stinnett, and D.J. Judkins of Brownwood; two daughters, Tammy Williamson and Sue Anna Barrett, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Irene Edwards of Spearman and Joe Barnett of Stinnett; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Don & Sybil Harrington Cancer Center, 1500 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106; or First Christian Church, P.O. Box 517, Stinnett, TX 79083.

Alice Jane Goodman

SPEARMAN - Alice Jane Goodman, 70, died Thursday, April 17, 2008.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Christian Church with the Rev. Jim Reeves officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman.

Mrs. Goodman was born Feb. 14, 1938, in Kerman, Calif. She worked for 25 years at the elementary school as a custodian and kept the nursery at First Christian Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Janice Marshburn of Perryton, Cynthia Heavener of Carnegie, Okla., and Lelia Bynum and Dana Younger, both of Spearman; two sons, Keith Goodman of Follett and Ronald Goodman of El Paso; a sister, Marie Anderson of Modesto, Calif.; a brother, Russell Miller of Franklin, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Christmas stocking fund, Hansford Manor, 707 S. Roland St., Spearman, TX 79081.

Larry 'Hank' Hagerman

PFLUGERVILLE - Larry 'Hank' Hagerman, 42, died Friday, April 11, 2008.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 13, 2008 in First Baptist Church with Dr. Steve Washburn officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Hill Cemetery by Beck Funeral Home.

Mr. Hagerman was born February 12, 1966, in Spearman. Larry married DeNetta Rae Booth on June 13, 1987, in Gruver.

Larry was the owner of Aircraft Certification Services LLC in Taylor. He was a loving son, brother, husband and father. Larry and his family were active members of First Baptist Church in Pflugerville. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. His most treasured moments were with his wife and children. He never missed an opportunity to attend baseball and soccer games with them.

He was preceded in death by his wife, DeNetta, and his mother, Lucille Hagerman.

Survivors include his precious children, Ashley and Weston of Pflugerville; his loving father, Verlin Hagerman and wife Debbie of Roscoe; three brothers, Steve and wife Pat of Roscoe, Leon and wife Amy of Plainview and Robert and wife Cathy of Pampa; four sisters, Paula Taylor of Fargo, N.D., Valerie Huber and husband Mark and Kathy Hagerman, all of Amarillo, and Verla Kunselman and husband Jim of Plainview; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to Building Fund, First Baptist Church, 306 S. 10th St., Pflugerville, TX 78660.

Rhue Don Rogers

OLNEY, TX - Rhue Don Rogers, 70, died on Thursday, April 10, 2008 in the Olney Healthcare Center in Olney, Texas.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 13, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Elbert, TX with Scotte Clark of Olney officiating. Interment was in Elbert Cemetery in Elbert, TX under the direction of Merriman-Archer Funeral Home.

Ms. Rogers was born on October 21, 1937 in Olney, TX to Bob and Vela 'Bellah' Bailee. She married Stewart Rogers in Elbert, TX on July 27, 1956. She was a homemaker and a methodist. She was a lifetime resident of the Elbert Area. She had a 10-year battle with Alzheimer's.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Vela Bailee; one brother, Terry Bailee; and her husband, Stewart, on June 15, 1990.

Survivors include four daughters, Sheila Timmons and husband Louis of Throckmorton, TX, Kayla McLennan and husband Matt of Gruver, Jan Williams and husband Cully of Olney and Rhonda Engh of Grand Junction, CO; two brothers, Robby Bailee of Elbert, TX and Roy Bailee of Fort Worth, TX; 9 grandchildren - Rebecca Castro, Laurie Bishop, Jodi Hankins, Brandon Oliver, Braxton Oliver, Connor Timmons, Laston Timmons, Macy McLellan and Katy McLellan; and five great-grandchildren, Cooper, Carson and Camryn Castro and Aidan and Ashton Bishop.

The family suggests memorials be made to Elbert Cemetery, c/o Merriman-Archer Funeral Home, PO Box 759, Throckmorton TX 76083; or a favorite charity.

Naomi Lorane Fryrear

SPEARMAN - Naomi Lorane Fryrear, 80, died April 10, 2008 in Pampa, Texas.

Graveside services will be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2008, at the Hansford Cemetery in Spearman, with Jim Williams, a family friend, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.

Mrs. Fryrear was born September 30, 1927 in McLoud, Oklahoma to George and Flora Randall. She was reared in Tuttle, Oklahoma and on August 24, 1943, she married Cecil Fryrear in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Cecil and Naomi moved to Los Angeles, California for a few years before residing in Spearman.

Naomi would plant a garden every spring and loved to can. Her pickles were everyone's favorite. She also loved to go camping and fishing with Cecil, her brothers and sisters-in-law. Naomi also loved to cook and she would always have plenty of food, regardless of however many would show up. She never met a stranger. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was loved so dearly by all her family and she will be missed.

Survivors include one son: Cecil Fryrear, Jr., and wife Dee Dee of Sanford; one daughter: Donna Giddens and husband Bobby of Mangum, Oklahoma; one son-in-law: Lawrence Tindell of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two sisters-in-law: Pat Randall and Idella Randall, both of Spearman; seven grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a daughter, Ina Sue Tindell.

Jean Bollinger

INDEPENDENCE, MO - Jean Bollinger, born on October 14, 1925, in Independence, MO., died April 3, 2008, in Dallas, TX. Her memorial service was conducted by Grove Hill Funeral Home, in Dallas, TX., Saturday, April 5, and she was laid to rest in Rice Cemetery, Cameron, TX.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents: C.R. and Dove Lewis Dale, and her sister Frances Barron.

She is survived by her husband, George Bollinger, Dallas, TX; her sister Charletta Weston and husband Wes, of Kerrville, TX. She is survived by her children Cheri Jarvis and husband Wesley of Stinnett, TX; and Linnie Bolin and husband Phil, of Wichita, KS. She is survived by her grandchildren Ross and wife Amy Jarvis, of Navasota, TX; Holly Jarvis of Waco, TX; Lee and wife Staci Jarvis of Villa Nueva, Guatemala; Treva and husband Kelly Hansen of Wichita, KS. She is survived by grandchildren Karlie Will and Conner Hansen of Wichita, KS; Ashton and Ella Jarvis of Navasota, TX.

Jean attended the Stamps-Baxter School of Music in Waxahachie, TX, as a teenager. Later in life she had music published. She was also an artist, and was commissioned to paint several baptistries in the Dallas area. She was a director of Wildwood Youth Camp, in Bentonville, AK, for 20 years.

George and Jean were evangelists and pastors. They preached and performed music in almost every state of the union, plus several foreign countries. They served as missionaries in Guatemala and Mexico. They served as pastors in Texas, Arkansas and Kansas. They pastored the Spearman Union Church from 1963 - 1968.

Jimmie Ray McMahan

LONGVIEW, TX - Jimmie Ray McMahan, 58, passed away on March 23, 2008 at Good Sheppard Medical Center in Longview, Texas of natural causes.

Jimmie was born on February 23, 1950 in Seminole, Oklahoma. He spent most of his life as a truck driver until he retired at the age of 54.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Jo, Jean and Betty; and one brother, Mack.

He is survived by two sisters, Nancy and Rita; his wife of 21 years, Eula McMahan; two sons, Donny McMahan of Spearman and Lance McMahan of Tyler, TX; a grandson living with him, Cameron McMahan, two other grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Gruver Cemetery on April 19, 2008 at 3 -.m. The family will gather at 514 E 2nd Avenue in Spearman.

Eugenia 'Genie' Maywood Collom Varnon

PAMPA - Eugenia 'Genie' Maywood Collom Varnon, 94, died on Saturday, April 5, 2008 in Pampa, Texas.

Services were held on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Berryville Memorial Cemetery in Berryville, Arkansas, with Eric Varnon officiating. Interment was under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Spearman, TX.

Genie was born on August 15, 1913 in Hooks, Texas to Robert Driscoll and Mary Elizabeth Collom. She married George Wesley Varnon on November 8, 1934 in Alvin, TX.

Genie moved to Pampa in 1937. She moved to Berryville, AR, along Brushy Creek, in 1960 when her husband, Wesley, retired. After Wesley died in 1967, Genie returned to Pampa in 1968.

She was a homemaker. and the youngest of eight children.

Survivors include her daughter and husband, Ruby Lee Varnon Bishop and Donald of George, TX; two sons and their wives, David Glen Varnon and Gwyn of Liberty, MO and Allen J. Varnon and Peggy of Spearman, TX; nine grandchildren, Don and Johanna Carter, Wesley and Patricia Carter, Malcolm and Carolyn Carter, Danielle Carter Vargas, David and Kathy Varnon, Rhonda Varnon Ray, Jason Varnon, Eric and Leslie Varnon and Richard Varnon; 15 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Driscoll and Mary Elizabeth Collom, her husband, George Wesley Varnon, and seven brothers and sisters.

The family requests memorials to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, PO Box 50610, Amarillo TX 79159.

Elizabeth Ann Shore

DUMAS - Elizabeth Ann Shore, 54, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, in Dumas.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with Dr. Mark Scott, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Beth Harrington by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas.

Elizabeth Ann Shore was born Jan. 29, 1954, in Canadian to Lewis B. Hennig and Josephene B. Hand. She married Ken Shore in Dumas. She was a schoolteacher, diagnostician and a RTI coordinator. She had been a resident of Dumas for 17 years. Ann liked to be outdoors swimming and was a devoted QVC shopper. She taught ESL at Spearman High School, where her husband, Ken, is the choir director.

Survivors include her husband, Ken; two sons, Benjamin J. Allison and wife Adrienne of Dumas and Matthew Allison and wife Jennefier of Dumas; a sister, Angela D. Hennig of Altus, Okla.; her mother, Betty Thomason of Canadian; and three grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to the Ann Shore Memorial Scholarship, First United Methodist Church, 401 Binkley Ave., Dumas, TX 79029-3830; or the Don & Sybil Harrington Cancer Center, 1500 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106.
