WHITESBORO - Funeral services for Wendell Gene Whisman, Sr. ,54, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. Terry Barnett officiating. Visitation will be on December 27, 2011 from 6 until 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Mr. Whisman passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at his home in Whitesboro. Wendell was born on January 18, 1957 in Phoenix, Arizona to Gene Whisman and Irene Griffin. He served in the United States Army and he enjoyed the Dallas Cowboys and fishing. Survivors include sons, David Reaves of Gainesville, Wendell Whisman, Jr., and wife, Heather of Sadler; daughters, Chilitia Head and husband, Kevin and Amanda Wilson and husband, Brett of South Dakota; a brother, Alvin Whisman and wife, Julie of South Dakota and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene Whisman and Irene Griffin ; step father, Gene Griffin; brothers, Charles and Daryl Whisman.

Mary Jeanne Willis
(May 20, 1945 - December 23, 2011)

GORDONVILLE – Memorial services for Mary Jeanne Willis, 66, will be held Wednesday, December 28, at 11:00 a.m. at the Faith Baptist Church in Gordonville, Texas with Rev. Jim Hardwick officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas. She passed away on December 23, 2011. She was born to John and Jean (Vernoy) Mertz in Middle Town, New York on May 20, 1945. She married Richard Willis on March 26, 1966 in Port Jervis, New York. She was a loving mother and loving grandmother. She liked sewing and knitting. She was a retired Registered Nurse. She is survived by her husband, Richard Willis of Gordonville, TX; son, Richard Willis and wife, Linda, of Gordonville, TX; daughter, Donna Fischer and husband, Chris, of Phoenician, NY; six grandchildren: Kayleigh Willis, Troy Willis, Ryan Willis, Corey Fischer, Tyler Fischer, and Ian Fischer; and her sister, Sandy Marsh of Montgomery, NY. She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Jean Mertz.

Freddy Lee Henry
(December 2, 1954 - December 25, 2011)

SADLER – Funeral services for Freddy Lee Henry, 57, will be held Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas with Rev. Billy Reed and Elder Thomas McDonald officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Sandusky, Texas. Family visitation will be Wednesday, December 28, from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home. He passed away in Denison, Texas on December 25, 2011. Freddy was born in Memphis, Texas on December 2, 1954 to Dewey Rayburn and Myrtis (Graham) Henry. He was employed as an oil-field worker. He is survived by his daughter, Amy Houser; grandson, Daniel Houser, both of Beggs, OK; brothers, Nickey Henry of Whitesboro, TX; Ross Henry of Sadler, TX; and Oscar Bill Henry of Whitesboro, TX; Chuck Mills; sisters, Cecilia Reasor of Lake Kiowa, TX; and Delinda Bizzle of Montgomery, AL; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Myrtis Henry. The pallbearers will be Chuck Mills, Randy LaPrelle, Randy Holly, Ron Earl, Ron Abston, Brad Walsh, Jerry Knight, and Larry Wainscott.

Danny Paul Baze
(November 19, 1948 - December 23, 2011)

POTTSBORO – Danny Paul Baze, 63, passed away on December 23, 2011 in Denison, TX. No services have been planned at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, TX. He was born in Sherman, Texas to on November 11, 1948 Billy Joe and Emma Jean (Fanning) Baze. He was raised in the North Texas area, graduated from S & S High School, and worked in the field of electroplating for most of his career. He is remembered for his kindness, generosity, and outgoing personality. He is survived by his son Paul Baze and wife, Dani, and their three children: Tanner, Ashton, and Austen, all of Georgia; daughter, Jami Baze Reese and husband, Vaughn, and their children: Mahlon Paul and Graci, all of Pennsylvania; He is also survived by his two brothers: Ricky Baze and his wife, Verna; and Randy Baze and his wife, Jaci; along with a niece and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Joe Baze and Emma Jean Guerry.

David Harlan Pearce
(September 18, 1933 - January 9, 2012)

GORDONVILLE - The family of David Harlan Pearce, 78, will hold a memorial service on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Sherwood Shores Baptist Church in Gordonville with Rev. Delbert Vest officiating. A visitation will be held at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro on Thursday, January 12, 2012 from 6 P.M. until 7 P.M. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home.

Mr. Pearce passed away at his home on Monday, January 9, 2012. David Harlan Pearce was born in Harper, Kansas on September 18, 1933 to Elijah Green and Madge (Conn) Pearce. He grew up in Argonia, Kansas, served in the United States Army during the Korean War, David married Sandra Beatty and lived and farmed in Kansas. He later lived and worked in Carlsbad, California. David married Barbara McCranie on December 19, 1998 in Carlsbad, California and later moved to Sherwood Shores. He was a member of Sherwood Shores Baptist Church and served on the Youth Center Building Committee as the chairman. David enjoyed bowling, fishing, woodworking, card games and going site seeing. He loved all his family, especially his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Pearce of Gordonville; 3 children, Mike Pearce, Dawn Pearce and Jeff Pearce all of Milan, Kansas; 3 step-children, Steven McCranie and wife, Teresa of Lake Palestine , Jeff McCranie and wife, Diana of Fort Worth and Jack McCranie and wife, Perri of Aledo; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Denzel Pearce and wife, Barbara of Kansas, Derrel Pearce and wife, Vivian of Kansas and Dean Pearce and wife, Kathy of Illinois and numerous nieces and nephews .

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elijah and Madge Pearce; daughter, Laurie Pearce; wife, Sandra Pearce; 3 sisters, Alice Phillippi, Doris Kuykendall and Joy Kosydar and a brother, Merle Pearce.

Leona Davis Tallant

September 5, 1923 - January 11, 2012

WHITESBORO – Funeral services for Leona Davis Tallant, 88, will be held Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas with Rev. Jerry Davis officiating. Interment will follow the service at Ryan Cemetery in Ryan, Oklahoma. Family visitation will be Friday, January 13, 2012 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

She passed away on January 11, 2012 in Whitesboro, Texas.

Leona Rebecca Tallant was born in Ft. Worth, Texas on September 5, 1923 to James Monroe and Maggie Mae (Perry) Davis. She married Abner Daniel Tallant, Jr. on May 1, 1948 at the North Side Baptist Church in Ft. Worth, Texas. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Collinsville, Texas. She loved music, classical and hymns. She enjoyed playing the piano and the guitar. She moved to Whitesboro in 1983.

She is survived by her husband, Dan Tallant, Jr. of Whitesboro, TX; her twin sister, Linda Mason of Arkansas; her grandchildren: Rebekah Tallant-Thompson and husband, Michael; James Daniel Tallant; Steven Jones; Regina Tallant-Butcher and husband, Travis; and Katy Tallant; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Dan Tallant; parents, James Davis and Maggie Godwin; sister, Lucille Godwin; two brothers, Howard Davis and James W. Davis.

The pallbearers will be James Tallant, Steven Jones, Jimmy Mason, Bobby Mason, Michael Thompson, and Donnie Mason.

Christopher Leigh Hudson

August 6, 1971 - January 13, 2012

SADLER - The family of Christopher Leigh Hudson, 40, will be holding a memorial service at their home in Sadler on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at 2 P.M. A family visitation time will be at Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Saturday, January 14, 2012. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home.

Christopher passed away on Friday, January 13, 2012 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison. Christopher Leigh was born on August 6, 1971 in Sherman, Texas to Donnie and Peggy (Tamplen) Hudson. He married Pattie Nagelmueller on May 6, 1995 in Sadler, Texas. He was a member of Three Cross Cowboy Church in Sadler and a Cub Scout Leader of Troop # 15 for six years. Christopher enjoyed fishing and camping and loved his children and family.

Survivors include his wife, Pattie Hudson of Sadler; children, Calvin and Savannah Hudson of Sadler; parents, Donnie and Peggy Hudson of Sadler; a brother, Wesley Hudson of Florida and sister, Bridgette Griffith of Sadler.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, T.C. and Peggy Hudson and C.V. "Pete" and Virginia Tamplen.

Guy Neil Wooten
(November 20, 1922 - January 14, 2012)

TIOGA – Guy Neil Wooten passed away January 14, 2012 at the age of 89. He was born November 20, 1922 in Tioga, Texas to Thomas and Vera Wooten. Guy Neil married Ruby Faye Gaddie of Whitesboro, Texas on March 22, 1943. His wife of 68 years predeceased him November 22, 2011. After graduating from Tioga High School in 1941, he proudly served in the United States Army during World War II from 1943 to 1945, primarily in Italy, achieving the rank of sergeant. Returning from the war to his beloved Tioga, Guy Neil began his life long career as a cattle rancher. Even tracheotomy surgery for larynx cancer in 1967 did not slow him down. In the 1960’s/70’s his cow/calf operation stretched over pasture land he owned or leased in three counties. He was also one of the original owners of the Pilot Point Livestock Exchange. During his life, Guy served on the Tioga School Board, and was on the board of directors of a local bank. He was a member of the Tioga Church of Christ. He is survived by his children: Karen Goodwin and husband, Grant, of Plano, TX; Jana Amos and husband, Danny, of Plano, TX; grandchildren: Emily Hudson and husband, Joseph, of Tyler, TX; Neil Amos of Ft. Worth, TX; and great grandchildren: Conner and Carter Hudson of Tyler, TX. Graveside services will be held Monday, January 16, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Pilot Point Community Cemetery with long-time friend, Ricky Patterson, officiating. Service arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas.

Glenda Culpepper
(December 2, 1942 - January 15, 2012)

Funeral services for Glenda Culpepper will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Meador Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Carney officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery of Whitesboro. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2012 at Meador Funeral Home. Mrs. Culpepper passed away Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Medical Center of Plano. Glenda was born on December 2, 1942 in Pilot Point, Texas to Ed and Dorothy (Duncan) Richardson. She married Steve Culpepper on August 29, 1959 in Whitesboro, Texas. He preceded her in death in 2006 after 47 years of marriage. She was a homemaker and community volunteer. Glenda was a member of the First Baptist Church since 1965 where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and worked in the church’s nursery for 45 years. She was a charter member of the Contemporary Women’s Club since 1971. She served on the Whitesboro Public Library Board for over 20 years. She was a member of the Whitesboro Area Chamber of Commerce where she volunteered for over 30 years. She served in several offices and was on the board of directors for well over 10 years. She was named a Lifetime Member of the Chamber, named a Director Emeritus, and had received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011. She opened her home to seven foreign exchange students and two local college students, whom she loved dearly. She became GG to not only her own two grandchildren, but to everyone who loved her. Glenda was a woman of hospitality and generosity, and always wore a smile. She was a woman of faith and had a true servant’s heart. She believed in her community and volunteered countless hours for it. Glenda is survived by her daughter, Penny Renfroe and husband Rusty of Whitesboro; two grandchildren, Reagan and Jordan Renfroe of Tulsa; three sisters, Gail Cole and husband Joe of Whitesboro, Marcia Mordecai and husband John of Collinsville, Angie Lemons and husband Billy of Whitesboro; two brothers, Joe Richardson and wife Peggy of Sadler, and Marc Richardson and wife Judy of Afton, Oklahoma; and numerous extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband Steve Culpepper, her son Dewayne Culpepper, and her parents Ed and Dorothy Richardson. Pallbearers are her nephews Todd Cole, Chad Lemons, Kirk Lemons, Brent Mordecai, Bruce Plummer, Jason Richardson, Joe Richardson, and Tom Worsham. In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to send memorials to the Cowboy Junction Church, who are rebuilding after a devastating fire. Teresa Lee Johnson
(April 23, 1948 - January 15, 2012)

GAINESVILLE – Teresa Lee Johnson, 63, passed away on January 15, 2012 in Denton, Texas. She was born in Houston, Texas on April 23, 1948. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Johnson Turner of Whitesboro, TX; and her grandchildren, Shaun, Skylar, Candace, and Jay. She was preceded in death by her son, Jay Johnson.

Larry Joe Earl
(May 25, 1947 - January 17, 2012)

WHITESBORO - Funeral services for Larry Joe Earl, 64, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 21, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Whitesboro with Bro. Hank Lovejoy officiating, assisted by Rev. Mike Flanagan. Interment will follow at Dixie Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home on Friday, January 20, 2012 from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. located at 499 West Acres Rd., Whitesboro, Texas. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro.

Larry passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Texas Heath Presbyterian Hospital -WNJ Sherman, surrounded by his family.

Larry was born on May 25, 1947 in Whitesboro, Texas to Emmett and Alice "Sis" (Curbo) Earl. He married Joyce Henderson on February 25, 1983 in Gainesville, Texas . Larry greatly enjoyed his "Weekend Prayer Meeting" groups. He was always for the underdog, loved his family greatly and was known as the "instigator" of mischief with family and friends. Larry was currently employed by Whitesboro ISD Maintenance Department for the past 22 years and he had also worked for Johnson and Johnson.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Earl of Whitesboro; daughters, Dana McCutchen, Kristy Hartsell, LeighAnn Skipworth and husband, Charles; grandchildren, Farran Barnes, Joseph Marten, Addie and Noah Skipworth and Libby Hartsell; Sisters, Mercede Moore and husband, James, Cheryl Acker and husband, Bobby; brother - in -law, Milton Wilkerson; In-laws, J.P and Marie Henderson and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Sis Earl; and a sister, Patricia Jean Wilkerson.

Pallbearers are Dwain Crawford, Steve Crawford, Neil Scoggins, Dwayne Abbe, Jeffrey Abbe, Todd Acker, Brian Crawford, Trey Schares, David Schares and Zac Crawford.

Freddie Jo Caraway

WHITESBORO – Freddie Jo Caraway, 77, passed away on January 15, 2012 in Denison, Texas at Texoma Medical Center. No services have been planned at this time. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas. Freddie Caraway was born on November 17, 1934 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma to Fred and Aleen (Smith) Graves. She married Harold Caraway in 1956 in Texas. She is survived by her sons, Mike Caraway and wife, Vanessa, of Gainesville, TX; and Hal Caraway and wife, Cheree, of Whitesboro, TX; and two grandchildren, Whitney Caraway and Joshua Caraway. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Caraway; and her parents, Fred and Aleen Graves.

V. Joyce Williams
(May 13, 1940 - January 27, 2012)

COLLINSVILLE – Graveside services for V. Joyce Williams, 71, will be held Monday, January 30, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. the Tioga Cemetery in Tioga, TX with Rev. Sid Hunter officiating. Service arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home. Family visitation will be Sunday, January 29, 2012 from 3 – 5 p.m. at the funeral home. V. Joyce Williams was born to Marvin and Emma (Aaron) Stewart in Paris, Texas on May 13, 1940. She married Bobby Gene Williams in 1970 in North Texas. They were married until his passing on December 31, 1985. She liked working outside and gardening. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She is survived by her children: Roger Tucker and wife, Tonya, of Whitesboro, TX; Steve Tucker and wife, Ginger, of Dearing, GA; Jan Crowe and husband, Tony, of Peru, IN; grandchildren: Michael Pass, Katy Tucker, Brandi Tucker, Dustin Tucker, Michal Wallace, Stephen Lederle; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters: Crickett Howard and Christine Brookshire; and brother, Jerry Stewart of Kansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Gene Williams; and her parents, Marvin and Emma Stewart; three brothers and one sister.

Charles Grady Satterfield
(December 19, 1932 - January 28, 2012)

GORDONVILLE – Charles Grady Satterfield, 79, of Gordonville, Texas, was called home by his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 28, 2012, at the Texas Health Presbyterian – WNJ Hospital, Sherman, Texas. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Gordonville on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at 2:30 p.m. Family visitation will be at the church at 1:15 p.m. prior to the service. Rev. Rusty Waller, pastor of First Baptist Church, Gordonville, Texas will officiate. Service arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas. Charles was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gordonville. He was born to Clarence and Florine (Jackson) Satterfield on December 19, 1932 in Westminster, SC, where he lived until moving to Texas in May 2004, making his home with his sister and her husband. He was employed by Oconee Mills (Beacon Mfg. Co.) in the 1950’s in Westminster, SC. Charles is survived by one sister, Anne Godwin and her husband, A. Z. Godwin, of Gordonville, TX; one nephew, Dr. Greg Godwin and wife, Jenni, and their children: Drew and Lainey of San Antonio, TX; and several cousins in South Carolina. He leaves a host of friends in Westminster, SC and in Gordonville,TX. Preceding Charles in death were his parents and a one year old sister, Bobbie Satterfield; grandparents, uncles, and aunts. Serving as pallbearers will be: Keith Hughes, Roy Holmes, Noble McElreath, Dean Dorothy, Bowden Tidwell, and Jim Crocker. Honorary pallbearers will be: Clarence Jones, Pinky Pinkston, Jim Herod, and Jim Burleson.

John William Miller
(January 2, 1942 - February 5, 2012)

John William Miller passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012. He was born Jan. 2, 1942 in Stockton, California, the second child to Mary Power Miller and Dr. Walter S. Miller. John was raised in Denton, TX. He graduated from Denton High School in 1961. He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church in Denton. John attended North Texas State University and graduated with a business and finance degree. John worked as a loan officer in Dallas until he served in the U.S. Army. John was the secretary to the Colonel and was stationed in beautiful posts, such as Orleans, France and Heidelberg, Germany. John and Carole Pearson Miller had daughter, Lauren Michelle while overseas. It was a magical experience with breathtaking memories. John returned to the U.S. after his service in 1969. John was passionate about hunting and fishing in the great outdoors. Some of his most favorite times were going to Llano, Palo Pinto, and Bridgeport to hunt with his father, father in law, uncle, and brothers. He enjoyed the fellowship, stories, and being with the guys. One of his career wishes was to become a game warden. His father Walter had said many times, "John always wanted to be a game warden, it just never worked out." Fortunately, luck be have it for him that his daughter married a game warden named Jim. So many of his wishes were finally met by helping out at youth hunts, kid fishing tournaments, and cooking at the Texoma Game Warden Station on holiday weekends with his family. He was such an outdoor activist, he helped his granddaughter, Bethany obtain a Lifetime Hunting and Fishing License in Texas. He always had a boat "ready to go" if you had the time. John was an excellent swimmer and made sure everyone had swim lessons. In the 70's he had the opportunity to work with one of his long-time high school friends at Seven Seas as a security guard before he became the transportation manager at Payless Cashways. He worked for decades until the doors finally closed. He had received the prestigious Safe-Driver Award several times and numerous other awards. John was a true gentleman and enjoyed giving to others. John was fortunate to retire early and enjoy his family as the "summer activity director" and ride with his motorcycle group Southern Cruisers. He also participated with Denton Honda and Plano Honda riding clubs. John traveled on his Gold Wing over 50,000 miles nationwide until he was unable to drive anymore. The last few years John remained a faithful servant to God and attended First Baptist Church in Gordonville with his family, where he loved to sing hymns. He was an active supporter in St. Jude, Alzheimer's Association, Scleraderma Foundation, Toys for Tots, and the S&S FFA. John has struggled with a terrible brain disease for several years. He loved to live life and didn't disclose to others that he was ill. The family would like to thank his therapists, nurses, and staff at Whitesboro Health & Rehab. Center and Home Hospice of Grayson County for their compassionate care during his stay. John is survived by: one daughter, Lauren Miller Ballard and husband, Jim, grandchildren, Bethany of Sadler, TX, Devin of Matador, TX, Katie of Bridgeport, TX, and Lindsey of Jacksboro, TX; brother, Walter S. Miller, III and wife, Barbara of Lewisville, TX, Martin L. Miller and wife, Rissa of Kerrville, TX, a sister, Mary Rupert and husband, Ray of Denton, TX; nieces and nephews, Teri, Jon, Rita, and Martin, Jr. he was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Walter S. and Mary Miller. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to: First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 608, Gordonville, TX 76245. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, TX officiated by Dr. Rusty Waller. Ken Kennedy

GORDONVILLE – Ken Kennedy was born on December 9, 1953 in DeKalb, TX in the family home. He passed away on February 5, 2012 in his home in Gordonville, TX. Ken was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. His ranch in Gordonville was also a source of joy. He spent hours caring for the land, his horses, Longhorn cattle and just sitting on the “veranda” watching the wildlife! In the last few years of his life Ken found love with his new bride, Vicky. They were married on December 17, 2011 on the ranch. Ken was also an incredible grandfather to his 9 grandchildren – Khris, Dalton, Kensey, Bre’Anna, Karis, Bobby, Hope, Koleman, and Molly. Ken is survived by his wife Vicky and two children, Khris Kennedy of Prosper, TX and Lori Sheppard of Mansfield, TX; 4 stepchildren, Kelli Holt, Colleen Holt, Andrea Holt all of San Francisco, CA; and 9 brothers and sisters: Linda Crane, Jamie Kennedy, Roger Kennedy, Kay Shaffer, Barbara Shafer, Sharon Webb, Jackie Orrick, Terry Kennedy, and Karen Kennedy. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Juanita Kennedy and two brothers, Eugene Kennedy and Wayne Kennedy. His family will host a memorial service in his honor at 1544 Pine Grove Rd., Gordonville, TX 76245 on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012 at 2 p.m. with his son, Rev. Khris Kennedy officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro.

Lois Marie Hunter
(March 23, 1923 - February 6, 2012)

WHITESBORO – Funeral services for Lois Marie Hunter, 88, will be held Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Whitesboro, Texas with Rev. Mike Flanagan officiating assisted by Rev. Kelly Gray and Rev. Johnny Reed. Interment will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery. All service arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas. Family visitation will be Wednesday, February 8, from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home. She passed away at her residence in Whitesboro, Texas on February 6, 2012. Lois was born on March 23, 1923 to Chesley and Nettie (Ridinger) Roberts in Sherman, Texas. She married Bill Hunter in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1944. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Whitesboro, Texas where she was a Sunday school teacher. She will be remembered as a prayer warrior. She is survived by her son, Michael C. Hunter, of Whitesboro, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Hunter; her son, Matthew Hunter; her parents, Chesley and Nettie Roberts; and sixteen siblings.

Freda Dobbs
(April 27, 1943 - February 7, 2012)

WHITESBORO - Funeral services for Freda Dobbs, 68, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. Rick Carney and Rev. Scott Jordan officiating. Interment will follow at Collinsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, 2012 at the funeral home. Freda passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012 at her residence. She was born on April 27, 1943 in Collinsville, TX to Emmot Cecil Dobbs and Willie Opal (McKnight) Dobbs. She worked as a Occupational Health Nurse for Procter & Gamble for 21 years before retirement. She loved to travel, gamble, play games and take cruises. She was a member of Bones Chapel Baptist Church in Whitesboro. Survivors include a son, Mickey Simmons and wife, Kelly of Mason, Ohio; a daughter, Misti Lehman and husband, Jeremy of Waco, Texas; grandchildren, Michael Simmons, Grace Lehman, Isaac Lehman and Ella Lehman; a sister, Dorothy Ludlam; a brother, Cecil Dobbs; and her significant other, Mark Woodruff. She was preceded in death by her parents and 7 siblings. Pallbearers are Garry Ludlam, Larry Ludlam, Bobby Dobbs, Michael Dobbs, Chris Dobbs and Chris Hopkins. WHITESBORO – Graveside services for A. D. “Dan” Tallant, Jr., 87, will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at the Ryan Cemetery in Ryan, Oklahoma with Rev. Jerry Davis officiating. Service arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas. He passed away on January 29, 2012 at his residence. Dan Tallant was born on December 31, 1924 in Spur, Texas to Abner Danial, Sr. and Cavie Cummins Grubbs Tallant. He married Leona Davis on May 1, 1948 at the North Side Baptist Church in Ft. Worth, Texas. They were married until her recent passing on January 11, 2012. He was a long-time member at First Baptist Church of Collinsville. He was also a veteran of World War II, serving as a U. S. Marine from 1942 - 1946. He was employed at the Texas Employment Commission for 39 years in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area as the Assistant District Director. He was a member of the Texas Public Employer’s Association. He is survived by grandchildren: Rebekah Tallant-Thompson and husband, Michael; James Daniel Tallant; Steven Jones; Regina Tallant-Butcher and husband, Travis; and Katy Tallant; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona (Davis) Tallant; son, Kenneth Dan Tallant; and his parents.

Tiffany Byron Hoff
(March 25, 1978 - February 7, 2012)

Interment will follow at Sadler Cemetery. Tiffany passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison. She was born on March 25, 1978 in Irving, Texas to Jerry W. Byron and Diane (Moran) Byron. She married Phillip Lee Hoff on May 31, 2009 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Survivors include her husband, Phillip Hoff of Sherman; 4 children, Sterlyn Reynolds, Colton Hoff, Abi Martin and Eli Martin, all of Sherman; her parents, Jerry and Diane Byron; 2 brothers, Charles Anthony Byron of Flower Mound and Timothy Daniel Starks of Dallas; and her maternal grandparents, Donald L. and Imogene Moran of Altus, Oklahoma.

Patti Jo Chumley
(September 12, 1957 - February 7, 2012)

She married Larry Wayne Chumley on November 30, 1973 in Howe, Texas. She is survived by her husband, Larry Chumley, of Sherman, TX; daughters: Sophia Mendoza of Mt. Pleasant, TX; Sue Chumley of Whitesboro, TX; six grandchildren: Larry, Tammy, and Shara Chumley; Sebastian and Ricky Barron; and Maria Mendoza; and one great-grandchild - Ayden Barron; brother, Thomas Perbetsky of Martinez, GA; sisters, Janice Petel of Fairfield, OH; Tona Ogle of Talihina, OK; and mother Iva Mae Perbetsky of Denison, TX; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Alvie Mae Bell; and her father, John Perbetsky.

J. Oakey Hagood
(April 1, 1935 - February 12, 2012)

WHITESBORO - Funeral services for J. Oakey Hagood, 76, will be held Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Whitesboro, Texas with Rev. Ken Hildebrand officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Sandusky, Texas. All services arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home. Family visitation will be Wednesday evening, February 15, 2012 from 6 – 8 p.m. He passed away on February 12, 2012 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital – WNJ in Sherman, Texas. Julian Oakey Hagood was born on April 1, 1935 to Julian Oakey and Juanita (Debruler) Hagood in Durham, North Carolina. He married Rebecca Ann Affleck on September 1, 1963 in Big Spring, Texas. He was an avid softball player. He taught and coached in Big Spring for twenty years. Between the years of 1978-2001, he was a banker. He volunteered at Your Neighbors House. He was a member of the True Grit Bible Study for Methodist Men and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Whitesboro, Texas. After retiring from banking in 2001, he moved to Whitesboro, Texas and worked as a substitute teacher. He loved kids and they loved him. He coached pee wee football, baseball, and basketball. He occasionally attempted to golf and loved to travel to the Cayman Islands. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Hagood of Whitesboro, Texas; sons: Kent Cook of Bloomington, IL; Roger Roe Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Kim Hickman and husband, Gregg, of Whitesboro, TX; Kevin Hagood and wife, Jill of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Dee Lockmiller and husband, Ken of Lacy, WA; grandchildren: Anna Hagood, Garrett Hickman, Channing Hickman, Weston Hickman, Carson Hickman, Lauren Archibald, Madeleine Archibald; uncle and aunt, Allan and Undine Kernodle; and cousin Katie Griggs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Juanita Hagood; and his cousin, Alana Kernodle. Casket bearers will be Kolton Massick, Matt Hobbs, John Wood, Trey Eleazer, Eddy Ruiz, Chance Hatchell, and Jordon Gill. Brenda Jean Harper
(September 22, 1960 - February 12, 2012)

POTTSBORO – Memorial services for Brenda Jean Harper, 51, will be held Friday, February 17, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas with Rev. Mike Flanagan officiating. She passed away on February 12, 2012 at her residence in Pottsboro, Texas. Brenda Jean Harper was born on September 22, 1960 to Jimmy Eugene and Maxine (Prince) Harper. She was a graduate of McKinney High School in 1979. She is survived by her parents, Gene and Jean Harper of Whitesboro, TX; brothers: Curtis Cady and wife, Sandy, of Plano, TX; and Larry Harper of Dalhart, TX; sisters, Sharon Dees and husband, Robert of Kilgore, TX; Carla White and husband, Kevin, of Flower Mound, TX; Jill Darland and husband, Kevin, of Durango, CO; several nieces and nephews; and many friends and extended family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Maxine Harper.

Aryiel "A. T." Travis Smith

Smith was born on April 24, 1947 to Andrew and Bobbie Jo (Jones) Smith. He married Sandi Sleigh. He is survived by his spouse, Sandi Sleigh of Lake Dallas, TX; and daughter, Amber Sleigh of Lake Dallas, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Bobbie Jo Smith.

Al Miller

Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. No formal visitation is planned but visitors may view at the funeral home from 2 to 5 p.m. on Thursday and 8 a.m. until service time on Friday. Al passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital -WNJ in Sherman. He was born Alfred Clyde Miller on Dec. 16, 1929 in Bulcher, Texas to Delmer F. Miller and Mary Richardson Miller. He served in the U.S. Army, retiring after 20 years of service. Al also served as the Chief of Police, City Alderman, Mayor and City Judge for the City of Whitesboro. He liked golf and watching football (especially the Washington Redskins). Survivors include his wife, Janice Miller of Whitesboro; 4 sons, Ronnie Miller and wife, Sandy of Taneytown, Maryland, Larry Miller and wife, Shirley of Douglasville, Georgia, Alfred Miller and wife, Lisa of Abilene, and Gary Miller and wife, Kay of Hobbs, New Mexico; 5 step-children, Fred Watson, Jr. of Whitesboro, Sharon Bundage of Long Beach, California, Karen McMillion of Whitesboro, Wendell Bockman of Bonham and Shirley Speck of Alto, New Mexico; a step sister, Dorothy King of Stanley, New Mexico; 6 grandchildren, Dawn, Suzanne, Brian, Aaron, Austin and Dylan; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ralph Miller; and 2 sisters, Nellie Flippo and Catherine King. Pallbearers are Orlan Bagwell, Ken Bagwell, L.V. Leona Davis Tallant
September 5, 1923 - January 11, 2012

WHITESBORO – Funeral services for Leona Davis Tallant, 88, will be held Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas with Rev. Jerry Davis officiating. Interment will follow the service at Ryan Cemetery in Ryan, Oklahoma. Family visitation will be Friday, January 13, 2012 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

She passed away on January 11, 2012 in Whitesboro, Texas.

Leona Rebecca Tallant was born in Ft. Worth, Texas on September 5, 1923 to James Monroe and Maggie Mae (Perry) Davis. She married Abner Daniel Tallant, Jr. on May 1, 1948 at the North Side Baptist Church in Ft. Worth, Texas. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Collinsville, Texas. She loved music, classical and hymns. She enjoyed playing the piano and the guitar. She moved to Whitesboro in 1983.

She is survived by her husband, Dan Tallant, Jr. of Whitesboro, TX; her twin sister, Linda Mason of Arkansas; her grandchildren: Rebekah Tallant-Thompson and husband, Michael; James Daniel Tallant; Steven Jones; Regina Tallant-Butcher and husband, Travis; and Katy Tallant; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Dan Tallant; parents, James Davis and Maggie Godwin; sister, Lucille Godwin; two brothers, Howard Davis and James W. Davis.

The pallbearers will be James Tallant, Steven Jones, Jimmy Mason, Bobby Mason, Michael Thompson, and Donnie Mason.

Christopher Leigh Hudson

August 6, 1971 - January 13, 2012

SADLER - The family of Christopher Leigh Hudson, 40, will be holding a memorial service at their home in Sadler on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at 2 P.M. A family visitation time will be at Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Saturday, January 14, 2012. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home.

Christopher passed away on Friday, January 13, 2012 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison. Christopher Leigh was born on August 6, 1971 in Sherman, Texas to Donnie and Peggy (Tamplen) Hudson. He married Pattie Nagelmueller on May 6, 1995 in Sadler, Texas. He was a member of Three Cross Cowboy Church in Sadler and a Cub Scout Leader of Troop # 15 for six years. Christopher enjoyed fishing and camping and loved his children and family.

Survivors include his wife, Pattie Hudson of Sadler; children, Calvin and Savannah Hudson of Sadler; parents, Donnie and Peggy Hudson of Sadler; a brother, Wesley Hudson of Florida and sister, Bridgette Griffith of Sadler.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, T.C. and Peggy Hudson and C.V. "Pete" and Virginia Tamplen.

Willie A. Cravens
(October 12, 1928 - May 11, 2012)

Funeral services for Willie A. Cravens, age 83, of Whitesboro, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 14, at the First Baptist Church of Whitesboro with Rev. Mike Flanagan officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. The family night will be held on Sunday, May 13, from 6 -8 p.m., at the funeral home. Service arrangements are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro, Texas. Willie went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 11, 2012, at Homestead of Sherman. He was born on October 12, 1928, the son of Claude and Linnie Cravens. He married Freddie Lee Gray on June 21, 1953, at Sadler Baptist Church. He graduated from Cooke County College in June 1958 and went to work for Texaco. He moved with his family to Olney, Texas in 1960. In 1965, he was transferred to Electra, TX. In 1967, he and his wife opened a Western Auto store in Whitesboro and operated it until 1985. After the business, he obtained a real estate license and worked for Coldwell Bankers for five years. Willie enjoyed traveling in his RV trailer and spent several summers in Southfork, Colorado and winters in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Whitesboro and enjoyed ushering and welcoming people to the Sunday morning services. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Freddie; son, Donald Cravens of Gordonville; daughter, Brenda Lampe and husband, Dominic, of Sherman; five grandchildren: Jason Lampe, Lori Lampe, Eric Lampe, and Kendra Masson and her husband, Joey. He is also survived by a brother, Milburn Cravens of Gainesville; two sisters, Millie and husband, Byron, of Mesa, Arizona; and Wilma Ferguson of Greenville, South Carolina. Willie was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Earl Cravens of Kamay, Texas. Pallbearers will be Jason Lampe, Dominic Lampe, Allen Cravens, Danny Cravens, Joey Masson, Bill Parish, and Eric Lampe in absentia serving in Afghanistan. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Heart to Heart Hospice of Sherman, TX or the Building Fund, First Baptist Church, 124 Center St., Whitesboro, TX 76273. The family would like to thank the staff of Homestead and Heart to Heart Hospice for the love and care they have shown each member of our family over the past several months.
