Laura Ethel Brantley
Laura Ethel Brantley of Kaufman passed away at home on July 24, 2001. Ethel was born April 2, 1912, in Headley to Nealie Hampton and Rosa Jane Porter Adams.
Ethel lived most of her life in Dallas, and the last nine years in Kaufman with her daughter and her family.
She was a member of one of the founding families of Hawn Freeway Church of Christ, where she worked as a teacher for many years in World Bible School.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Cecil and great-grandson Jeremy Michael Austin.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Gwynda Brantley of Seagoville, Lynn and Jacqui Brantley of Dallas, Gary and Linda Brantley of Richardson, and daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Gary Dipprey of Kaufman. Also by 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 28, 2001, at 10 a.m. in the Hawn Freeway Church of Christ in Dallas. Interment followed in Shiloh cemetery in Kemp.

Edward Irvin Hall
Dr. Edward Irvin Hall of Kaufman passed away on Aug. 5, 2001, at his home in Kaufman. He was born in Grand Prairie on March 14, 1915 to Thomas and Myrtle Motley Hall. On, Aug. 19, 1939, Dr. Hall married Nettie Ray in Breckenridge. Dr. Hall has been a physician for 50 years and a member of the Kaufman County Medical Society, American Medical Association, Southwest Surgical Society, 50 Year Club of Texas Medical Association, First United Methodist Church of Kaufman, member of the Masonic Lodge, Kaufman Lions Club, VFW, American Legion, Society of Abdominal Surgeons, Baylor Surgeons Society, former mayor of Kaufman from 1954 to 1957, and past board member and president of the Kaufman Independent School District where he served for 15 years. During WWII Dr. Hall served in the US Navy. He is survived by his wife: Nettie Hall of Kaufman, son: Edward Ray Hall of Kaufman, daughter: Jan Hall Shrader of Katy, and six grandchildren. Memorial services were held Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, at 2 P. M. at the First United Methodist Church of Kaufman with Rev. John Gondol and Rev. D. G. Council officiating. Interment was in Kaufman cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home of Kaufman. .

deline Julia Gerecht Valentine
Mrs. Valentine of DeSoto was born Adeline Julia Gerecht on Jan. 13, 1921, in Manhattan, N.Y. to Robert W. and Adeline (Ingelfinger) Gerecht. She died Aug. 1, 2001 W.C. “Bo” Valentine in Connecticut on June 21, 1943. Her husband of more than 50 years; brothers, Robert, Bobby and Herby Gerecht; and sister Glorianna Soucy preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Calvin Valentine of Scurry; a great-grandchild, Michael Valentine of Scurry and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held Saturday, Aug. 4, at 10 a.m. at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp, with Rev. Foy Valentine officiating. Interment followed at Kemp cemetery.

Lois Vance
Lois Vance, 83, of Panhandle died Sunday, June 4, 2000 in Amarillo.
Services were held at 5 pm Tuesday, June 6 in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Les Hall, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Panhandle cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Vance was born in Crandall and was a lifetime resident of the Panhandle area. She was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She volunteered at the Square House Museum and taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Erudite Fine Arts Club and a past member of the PTA.
She married Elten Vance in 1935 at Oklahoma.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Don Vance of Panhandle; two daughters, Carolyn Hedrick of Panhandle and Joyce Cockrell of Fritch; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Marie Glover
Marie Glover, 98, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, June 7, 2000 in St. Ann’s Nursing Home in Panhandle, Texas.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 am Monday, June 12 at Brown’s Chapel of the Fountains in Borger with the Rev. D. C. Lindley of Fritch and the Rev. Darrell Trout, pastor of First Assembly of God of Fritch, officiating. Burial was in Llano cemetery in Amarillo, TX, under the direction of Brown Funeral Directors of Borger.
She was a housewife and a native of Indian Territory, Oklahoma and an Amarillo resident for 50 years. She was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Amarillo, TX.
She is survived by two sons, Cliff Young and Ken Young, both of Fritch, TX; one sister, Alma Blaylock of Ft. Worth, TX; six grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Clay Glover.

Marie Anderson
Marie Anderson, 72, died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, in Fritch.
Memorial services will follow at a later date under the direction of Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch.
Mrs. Anderson was born in Adrian and was a lifetime area resident, living near Fritch for the past 25 years. She was a Methodist and worked as a clerk typist for a library in Amarillo.
Survivors include her husband, Houston Anderson, of the home; two sons, Dennis Smith and Nick Smith, both of Dallas; two daughters, Debbie Risinger of Oklahoma City, OK and Lorie Smith ofAustin; one sister, Edna Sousa of San Jose, Calif. and five grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to BSA Hospice, 800 N. Sumner, Pampa,. TX 79065.

Raymond T. Boyd
Raymond T. Boyd, 85, died Thursday, June 8, 2000, in Amarillo.
Services were held at 10:00 am Saturday, June 10 at Fritch Church of Christ with Mr. Richard Kasko, minister, officiating. Interment was in ”The Garden of Beatitudes“ at Westlawn Memorial Park cemetery, under the direction of Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch.
Mr. Boyd was born in Gorman and had been a Fritch resident since 1976. He married Charlsey Forbess on Dec. 10, 1934, and she preceded him in death in 1977. He married Melissa Ethel Hampton on Nov. 22, 1979, and she preceded him in death in 1999.
He was a member of the Fritch Church of Christ and was a retired minister, after serving for 40 years. He also worked for Sanford-Fritch School District as a maintenance supervisor.
Survivors include one son, Darnell Boyd of Lometa; one daughter, Genell Maxwell of Borger; a step-son, David Hampton of Fritch; three step-daughters, Lynette Hampton and Tonya Christian, both of Amarillo, and Monte Dybedal of California; two brothers, Theo Boyd of Rising Star and Ottus Boyd of Ira; one sister, Norma Lee Wallum of Odessa; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Casket bearers were Craig Maxwell, Bruce Maxwell, Kelsey Maxwell, Casey Maharg, Jeremy Golden and David Hampton.
Memorials may be made to BSA Hospice, Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176.

Wood Whatley
Wood Whatley, 99, died Thursday, June 8, 2000.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 10 at Price-Jackson Funeral Home Chapel in Quanah with Deacon Mary Dean Whitfield, minister of the Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment was in the Goodlett cemetery under the direction of Price-Jackson Funeral Home. Local arrangements were by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Mr. Whatley was born in Jones County. He moved to Hardeman County in 1913 and attended Friendship and Goodlett schools.
He married Grace Downs on July 12, 1924. He worked for the County for twenty years and ranched in Colorado for thirty years. He retired and moved back to Quanah in 1977.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace, in 1985 and two children, Tom, in 1992 and Jackie in 1997.
Survivors include four sons, Del Whatley of San Angelo, Lester Ray Whatley of Tecumesh, Kan., Tony Whatley of Fullerton, Calif. and Jim Whatley of Fritch; five daughters, Billie Hines of Quanah, Bobbye Martin of Midland, LaRuth Patterson and Judy Rosser, both of Amarillo; and Kay Simpson of Flower Mound; 27 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Woodward House, c/o Peggy Quinn, 1210 Boyd, Borger, TX 79007.

Keith Reynolds
Keith Reynolds, 67, died Friday, June 9, 2000, at Dumas.
Graveside services were at 11 am Monday, June 12 in Lane Memorial cemetery with Mr. Eric Clark, son-in-law, officiating. Arrangements were by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas.
Mr. Reynolds was born in Follett. A longtime resident of Sunray, he retired from the Navy and worked as a correctional officer for the Moore County Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of the XIT Bowling League and traveling team.
He married Margie L. Tate in 1951 at Clayton, NM.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Joveta Seay of Huntsville, Ala., Kathy M. Browder of Sunray, and Michele L. Clark of Dumas; a son, Michael K. Reynolds of Paris; a brother, Clyde Reynolds of Sunray; two sisters, Shirley Woodall of Sunray and Lela Bell of Fritch; eleven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. Second, Dumas, TX 79029; or the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell St., Amarillo, TX 79106.
