Jan. 6, 1936 — Feb. 14, 2003

Graveside services for Lina Jean Kalinec, 67, of Bryan are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Smetana Cemetery.

Hospice chaplain Cherry Moore will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.

Mrs. Kalinec died Friday at her home.

She was born in Caldwell and was a lifelong resident of Burleson and Brazos Counties. She was a sales clerk for Sears prior to her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Kalinec.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mike and Terri Kalinec and Kenneth Kalinec, all of Bryan; two daughters and a son-in-law, Joyce Wilkerson of Bryan and Cynthia and Chris James of Espanola, N.M.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Arthur and Rosalie Kluge of Caldwell and James and Beverly Kluge of LaMarque; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 502 W. 26th Street, Bryan, Texas 77803.

Ruth Pauline Butler
Feb. 8, 1927 — Feb. 13, 2003

MADISONVILLE — Services for Ruth Pauline Butler, 76, of Leona are set for 10:30 a.m. Monday at the J.M. Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville.

Bro. Fred Cromeans will officiate. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the Woodlawn Garden’s Cemetery in Houston.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Butler died Thursday in Madison St. Joseph Health Center.

Survivors include her husband, Lloyd J. Butler; two daughters, Terry Lynn Wolfe of Centerville and Cheryl Ann Drewes of Katy; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Donald Ray and Teresa Teasdale and Richard Teasdale, all of Centerville, and Robert Stanton and Ava Teasdale of Sargent; a brother, Arthur Miller of Port O’Conner; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Katherine Marion Cowgill
July 4, 1904 — Feb. 14, 2003

Memorial services for Katherine Marion Cowgill, 98, of Bryan are set for Monday at Park Place Methodist Church in Houston.

The Rev. David Meeker-Williams will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Crespo Funeral Home in Houston.

Mrs. Cowgill died Friday at St. Joseph Manor.

She was born in Houston and lived in Bryan since 1999. Prior to her move to Bryan, she was a lifelong resident of Houston. She was a member of Park Place Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Cowgill; and a son, William H. Cowgill.

Survivors include a sister, Emma South of Houston; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Childress of College Station; three granddaughters and six great-grandchildren.

Vera Edworthy

HOUSTON — Services for Very Edworthy, 95, of Houston are set for 1 p.m. Monday at the Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel in Houston.

The Rev. Bill Dickson will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Garden of Memories.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Edworthy died Thursday in Caldwell.

She attended Rice University and received her bachelor’s and master’s of arts degrees from the University of Houston. As a teacher in the Spring Branch I.S.D., she served as past president of the PTA of Harris County and the Home Demonstration Club of Harris County. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allan Edworthy Sr.

Survivors include her children, Betty and Robert Dickson and Allan Jr. and Mickey Edworthy; five grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.

Olga House
March 6, 1923 — Feb. 14, 2003

MADISONVILLE — Services for Olga House, 79, of Midway are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Madisonville Funeral Home.

The Rev. Dean Ferguson will officiate. Burial will be at 10:15 a.m. Monday at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. House died Friday in Houston.

She was born in LaGrange and lived in Madisonville 25 years, having moved from Houston. She worked as a bus driver and cafeteria worker for the Madisonville I.S.D. She also helped with fundraisers for the Midway Volunteer Fire Department.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice Faye House.

Survivors include her husband, Aubrey House of Waco; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Nelda and Richard Jacobs of Taylor, Jane McGuyre of Huntsville and Rita and John Palfreyman of Angleton; a brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Dollie Bertsch of Industry; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Hildagard L. Prazak
Oct. 2, 1914 — Feb. 13, 2003

CALDWELL — Services for Hildagard L. Prazak, 88, of Sealy and formerly of Caldwell are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell.

The Rev. Terry Bage will officiate. Burial will be in the Caldwell Masonic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Prazak died Thursday in Bellville General Hospital in Bellville.

She was born in Burleson County and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Glennie and Johnny Weeber of Sealy; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Marvin and Loretta Laffere and Jimmie and Hattie Laffere, all of Deanville; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Bertha Jester of Houston and Madelyn and Ernest Pavlas of Austin; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Alma Willingham Westbrook
March 1, 1905 — Feb. 13, 2003

ROCKDALE — Services for Alma Willingham Westbrook, 97, of Milano are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

The Revs. Wayne Kirk and Gary Westbrook will officiate. Burial will be in the Milano Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Westbrook died Thursday at the Cameron Nursing Center.

She was born in Coryell County and was a lifelong resident of Milano. She was a retired store clerk and was a member of the Milano Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Claude Westbrook Sr.; a daughter, June Ball; and two sons, E.C. Westbrook Jr. and William Garland Westbrook.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and LaDonna Westbrook of Milano; a daughter, Vivian Brewer of Waco; a daughter-in-law, Donna Jean Westbrook of Milano; a son-in-law, Eldon Ball of Milano; two sisters, Billye Reno of Houston and Anna Belle Sewell of Chriesman; 23 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Harry Layne Yakesch
Jan. 23, 1936 — Feb. 12, 2003

ROCKDALE — Services for Harry Layne Yakesch, 67, of Temple are set for 2 p.m. Monday at the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

The Rev. Doug Springer of the Rockdale Full Gospel Church will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Yakesch died Wednesday in the Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

He was born in Davilla and had lived in Temple since 1966. He was a yard master for 28 1/2 years with the Santa Fe Railroad. He was a police officer for a year in Rockdale. He served in the National Guard two years and served in the U.S. Navy nine years.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Kay Yakesch of Temple; a brother and sister-in-law, Wilbur Lee and Linda Yakesch of Rockdale; a sister and brother-in-law, Anna Lois and Tom Fisher of Rockdale; 16 nieces and nephews and numerous other relatives.

Gladys Faye Profitte Washington

HOUSTON — Services for Gladys Faye Profitte Washington of Hearne are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Joy Missionary Baptist Church in Houston.

Burial will be in Houston Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements are under the direction of Barkley Mortuary in Houston.

Mrs. Washington died Feb. 8.
