Velma Fanus Bryan

LUFKIN -- Funeral services for Velma Fanus Bryan, 93, of Lufkin were held March 27, in Pine Grove Church of Christ with Rev. Tom Darr officiating. Interment followed in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Polk County.
Mrs. Bryan was born October 10, 1910, in Uriah, Pennsylvania, to the late William and Minnie (Slusser) Fanus and died Monday, March 22, 2004, at her residence.
Formerly of the Corrigan-Camden area, she had lived in Lufkin for 23 years. Mrs. Bryan was a homemaker and a member of Angel of Joy Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Pat Weems of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Janet Koup of Harrisburg, PA; six grandchildren, Holly and Bryan Weems, Steve, Ray Lee and Kelly Koup and Leslie Snyder; seven great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Doyle and Mattie Bryan of Doucette; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bryan was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Arthur F. Bryan.
Services were entrusted to Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home, Lufkin, directors.

Yolanda Guzman
April 5, 2004
CORRIGAN -- Mass of Christian Burial service for Yolanda Guzman, 37, of Corrigan were held March 31 at the St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Corrigan with Father Clifton Labbe officiating. Interment followed in the Union Springs Cemetery.
Ms. Guzman was born February 9, 1967 in Piedras Negras, Mexico, and passed away Sunday, March 28, 2004, in Nacogdoches. She was a member of the St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Corrigan.
She is survived by her son, Pedro Martinez of Corrigan; daughters, Paloma Martinez and Selina Hernandez, both of Corrigan; parents, Ignacio and Mariana Guzman of Corrigan; brothers, Rafael Guzman of Houston, Jose and Henry Guzman, both of Corrigan; sisters, Arnolfa Torrez of Cleveland, Lucia Gonzalez, Martha Perez and Sylvia Madera, all of Corrigan.
Pallbearers were Pedro Guzman, Henry Guzman, Rafael Santana, Pedro Santana, Roy Flores, Jose Guzman and Avelino Soto.
Services were entrusted to Corrigan Funeral Home.

Dora Elia Nava
March 8, 2004
CORRIGAN -- Funeral mass for Dora Elia Gonzalez Nava, 34, of Springfiield, Missouri were held March 3 in the St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Corrigan with Father Clifton Labbe officiating. Interment followed in the Union Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Nava was born April 9, 1969 in McAllen and passed away Thursday, February 26, 2004 in Springfield, Missouri. She worked for EDCO, Inc. and was a member of the St. Martin De Porres Catholic Church in Corrigan. She was preceded in death by her brother, Andres Gonzalez in June of 2002.
She is survived by her husband, Rogelio Nava of Springfield, Missouri, daughters Christina Jimenez, Shelly Padillia and Jessica Padillia all of Springfield, Missouri, parents Angel and Juanita Gonzalez of Corrigan, brothers,Jose and Jesus Gon-zalez both of Houston and Daniel Gonzalez of Springfield, Missouri. s brothers, Jose and Jesus Gonzalez both of Houston and Daniel Gonzalez of Springfield, Missouri.
Pallbearers were Rogelio Nava, Jesus Gonzalez, Daniel Gonzalez, Pedro Gutierrez, Jose Gutierrez and Luis Gutierrez.
Services were entrusted to Corrigan Funeral Home.

Namon Minor
March 8, 2004
CORRIGAN -- Funeral services for Namon Minor, 96, of Camden were held February 28 at the Lily Island Baptist Church with Rev. V.A. Huelett officiating. Interment followed in the Lily Island Cemetery.
Mr. Minor was born May 10, 1907 in Beaumont and passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2004 in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Houston. He was retired from Temple Inland and a member of Lily Island Baptist Church for many years. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Lee Minor.
He is survived by his sister, Ludella Jones of Corrigan; sisters-in-law, Anna Bell Jones and Johnella Barkley of Corrigan; brother-in-law, John Edwin Modesette of Corrigan; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Services were entrusted to Corrigan Funeral Home.

Steve Hutson
January 18, 2004
CORRIGAN -- Memorial service for Steve Hutson, 49, of Griffin, Georgia were held January 17 in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Judy Anderson officiating.
Mr. Hutson was born July 25, 1954 in Corrigan and passed away January 4, 2004 in Griffin, Georgia. Mr. Hutson graduated high school from San Antonio Roosevelt and served in the U.S. Navy for three years. He was a Baptist by faith.
He is survived by his sons, Lu-ther Steven Hutson of Ohio, Steven Lee Hutson of Lufkin; daughters, Misty Lynn Taylor of Austin and RaeAnn Hutson of Lufkin; parents, Bobby and Pauline Hutson of Dib-oll; brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Trish Hutson of San Antonio; sister and brother-in-law, Denise and Ricky Holcombe of Jasper; and granddaughter, Kaitlyn Taylor of Austin.
Services entrusted to Corrigan Funeral Home, Inc.

Archie Hefley
January 18, 2004
CORRIGAN -- Archie Lee Hefley, 67, of Queen City, died Wednesday, January 7 in Queen City.
Mr. Hefley was born February 5, 1936, in Leggett. He was a member of Lake Country Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Hefley of Queen City; two sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Lacretia Hefley of Atlanta and Darin and Rhonda Hefley of Queen City; two brothers, Shelton Hefley and Calvin Hefley of Leggett; two sisters, Nadine Adams of Corrigan and Mary Thomas of Lufkin; three grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Graveside services were in Shady Dale Cemetery, January 9, with the Rev. Johnny Veatch officiating. Burial were under direction of Hanner Funeral Home.

Betty Blalock Jumonville
January 18, 2004
CORRIGAN -- Funeral service for Betty L. Blalock Jumonville, 50, of Corrigan were held Monday, January 5 in the Corrigan Funeral Hope Chapel with Pastor Phil Corbett and Pastor Thomas Blalock officiating. Interment followed in the Union Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Jumonville was born January 11, 1953 in Livingston, and passed away Friday, January 2, 2004 in a Lufkin hospital. She was a Baptist by faith and worked for Hughes Petroleum in Corrigan. Her husband, A.J. Jumonville, preceded her in death in February of 2003.
She is survived by her mother, Dolly Blalock of Corrigan; daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Robby Thompson of Fort Smith, Arkansas; April and Matt Horn of Kirbyville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve and Mary Blalock of Corrigan, Lynn and Loretta Chandler of Corrigan, Thomas and Pat Blalock of Livingston, Lewis C. and Grace Blalock, Jr. of Huntsville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Connie Blalock of Livingston; Margaret Pate of Corrigan, Barbara Gage of Splendora, Marilyn and Ronny Goodson of Livingston, Montana; Frankie Sambrano, Alvin; grandchildren, Misty, Brendan and Rebbakah.
Pallbearers were Stephen Blalock, Tommy Blalock, Patrick Bynum, Jeremy Pulliam and Lonnie Hutchison.
Honorary Pallbearers were Walter Earl Howell, Jerry Ivey, Brendan Thompson and Dwayne Bynum.
Services were entrusted to Corrigan Funeral Home, Inc.

Glendall Vernon McKee
January 18, 2004
CORRIGAN -- Glendall Vernon McKee, 69, of Chester passed away in his home Thursday, December 11, 2003. The cremation was Friday, December 12, 2003. Mr. McKee was born February 1, 1934, in McComb, Okla.
He served in the US Army during the Korean War, and he was employed in electrical maintenance for Farmland International.
He is survived by his wife, Laurie Patricia Rice McKee; two sons, Rick McKee of Austin and Glen McKee of Dallas; four brothers, Edgar D. McKee and Maxie J.R. McKee both of Oklahoma City, Wavil A. McKee of Holt, Fla. and Venny R. McKee of Elva, Ala.; sister, Patricia Kunard of Tecumseh, Okla;. and grandchildren, Amy, Matthew and Hailey.
Services were entrusted to Corrigan Funeral Home.

Agatha (Jack) Nerren Watts
January 18, 2004
LUFKIN -- Services for Agatha (Jack) Nerren Watts, 96, of Lufkin were held January 2 in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Rev. Martin B. Doran and Dr. Keith Whitaker officiating. Interment followed in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Watts was born July 16, 1907, in Alco, Angelina County, Texas, the daughter of Pearl (Hubbard) and W.A. Nerren. She died Monday, December 29, 2003 in a Lufkin hospital.
Mrs. Watts had previously managed the Camden Hotel and worked at the post office in Camden. She loved to cook and to play "42" dominoes. Mrs. Watts was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lufkin.
Survivors include her only sister, Agnes Nerren Perry of Lufkin; nephew and wife, George Bill and Linda Perry of Lufkin; niece and husband, JonAnna and Frank Reidinger of Amelia Island, Florida; great nephews, James Perry Dyer and wife, Berkley, Jeffrey Hubbard Dyer and wife, Christy and William Perry; great niece, GeorgAnna Harper and husband, Greg; great-great nieces, Jane Perry Dyer, Lettie Anne Dyer, Kaitlin Harper; and great-great nephew, Eric Harper.
Mrs. Watts was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Watts and her brother, Robert F. Nerren.
Services were entrusted to Gipson-Metcalf Funeral Directors of Lufkin.

Brenda Kay Hughes
January 18, 2004
DIBOLL -- Ms. Brenda Kay Hughes, 44, of Diboll passed away Sunday, December 21, 2003 in the Woodland Heights Hospital in Lufkin. Ms. Hughes was born May 27, 1959 in Livingston and had been living in Diboll for the past six months, previously living in Corrigan. She worked as a house supervisor for a nursing home and was a member of the New Life Pentecostal Church in Corrigan.
Graveside funeral services for Ms. Hughes were held December 24, in the Flat Prairie Cemetery with Rev. Hart officiating. Interment followed.
Survivors include sisters, Mary Simmer of Bashaw, Canada, Clarice Neal of Corrigan, Martha Dixon of Macon, Georgia and Patricia Collins of Willis; aunt and uncle Jack and Edna Mullican of Corrigan; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Services entrusted to Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.

Cecil Raymond "Sassafras" Willmon, Jr.
January 18, 2004
CORRIGAN -- Graveside services for Cecil R. "Sassafras" Willmon, Jr., 64, of Corrigan were held December 23 in the Wheeler Cemetery of Polk County with Pastor Phil Corbett officiating. Interment followed the graveside service.
Mr. Willmon was born July 7, 1939 in Lufkin and passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2003 in a Lufkin hospital. He retired from the City of Lufkin in 1988 as a water pollution control operator, he was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Corrigan and a member of the Sons of Confederate Ike Turner Camp No 1275 in Livingston. he was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Raymond and Flora Watts Willmon, and brother Don Howard Willmon.
He is survived by his sons, Robert Willmon of Arlington, Ronald Willmon of Woodville and Royce Willmon of Lufkin; daughter, Debra Wolff of Crosby; brothers, Bill Willmon of Fossil, Oregon and Gary Willmon of Nacogdoches; sister, Barbara Ross of Kosciusko, Mississippi; and seven grandchildren.
Services were entrusted to Corrigan Funeral Home.
