CORRIGAN -- Funeral services for John B. Peden, 47, of Leggett were held December 27 in the Rock Island Full Gospel Community Church with Pastor Shorty Hoot and Pastor Ray Nugent officiating. Interment followed in the Union Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Peden was born June 2, 1956 in San Jose, California, and passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2003 in his home in Leggett. He was a member of the Rock Island Full Gospel Community Church.
He is survived by his parents, Charles and Frances Peden of Leggett; brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter Lee and Robin Peden of Ni-tro, West Virginia, Ervin Joe and Rosie Peden of Leggett and Charles Randall and Lisa Peden of Rye; sisters and brother-in-law, Samantha Louise and Daryl Schneider of Livingston and Mindy Peden of Ft. Campbell, Ken.
Pallbearers were Daryl Schneider, Jr., Marco Peden, Bubba Wetzel, George Kelley, Donald Nugent, Jose Peden and Emmitt Russell.
Services were entrusted to Corrigan Funeral Home.

Glen Charlie Gilchrist
January 18, 2004
CORRIGAN -- Funeral services for Glen C. Gilchrist, 89, of Goodrich were held December 28 in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Frank Hood and Pastor Lynn Dykes officiating. Interment followed in the Union Springs Cemetery.
Mr. Gilchrist was born June 14, 1914 in Cleveland and passed away Thursday, December 25, 2003 in the Memorial Medical Center of Livingston. He was a member of the Chesswood Baptist Church in Livingston. He retired from Tennessee Gas Co. as a chief operator.
His wife of 68 years, Rosalie Cummins Gilchrist of Goodrich, daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Wendell Grant of Milam and Mary Lee and Ron Howard of Grandville, Ohio; grandchildren, James Grant, Bruce Howard, Jeanette Carr and Lisa Howard, and 10 great-grandchildren survive him.
Services were entrusted to Corri-gan Funeral Home, Inc.

Dorothy Tate Forester
January 18, 2004
CORRIGAN -- Dorothy Tate was born February 13, 1924 in Normangee and passed away December 26, 2003 in a local nursing home after a lengthy illness. She was a retired nurse, having spent 30 years at St. Joseph's Hospital in Houston. Upon her retirement in 1989 she moved to Diboll, where she was living at the time of her death.
Mrs. Tate is survived by daughters, Shirley Cox of Diboll and Kathy Adams of Houston; sons and daughters-in-law, Morris and Dianne Tate of Diboll, David and Lianne Tate of Diboll, Mike and Karen Tate of Tomball, Pat and Trish Tate of Spring, Tommy Tate of Spring, and Margaret Tate of Tomball. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Tate, and a son, James (Buddy) Tate.
Graveside serves were held at Plainview Cemetery in Normangee, December 29. The service were conducted by Bro. Bobby Conner of the New Hope Baptist Church in Magnolia, Texas.
Services were entrusted to Corrigan Funeral Home, Inc.

Leroy Ernest Crocker
January 18, 2004
CORRIGAN -- Funeral services for Leroy E. Crocker, 68, of Corrigan were held December 30, in the Union Springs Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor James Brock officiating. Interment followed in the New Salem Cemetery in Centerville.
Mr. Crocker was born July 15, 1935 in Cross and passed away Friday, December 26, 2003 in Zavalla. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietname War as a staff sergeant. He retired last year after 27 years with Citizens State Bank as a loan officer. He was an avid fisherman and bowler. He also was a member of the Union Springs Missionary Baptist Church. His first wife, Mary Crocker, preceded him in death in 1997.
He is survived by his wife of four years, Norma Crocker of Corrigan; son, Lanniel Earl Crocker of Lake Charles, La; step-sons, Craig Lockwood of Shepherd, Roger and Jimmy Lockwood of Corrigan and Greg Lockwood of Byers, Colorado; daughter, Pamula Kay Cooper of Corrigan; brothers, Cecil R. and Elmo O. Crocker of Bryan; sister, Edna M. Reed of Iola; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Darrell Reed, Mark Crocker, James Olive, J.R. Crocker, Butch Vaughn and J.J. Lockwood.
Honorary pallbearers were Anthony Page, Garner Springs and the employees of Citizens State Bank of Corrigan.
Services were entrusted to Corrigan Funeral Home, Inc.

Gazette Morris Bennett
January 18, 2004
CORRIGAN -- Funeral services for Gazette M. Bennett, 60, of Camden will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2004 in the Palestine Missionary Baptist Church in Chester with Pastor Jimmy Darden officiating. Interment will follow in the Lilly Island Cemetery in Barnes.
Mrs. Bennett was born January 2, 1943 in Camden and passed away Friday, December 26, 2003 in her home. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lilly Island Missionary Baptist Church.
She was survived by her husband, Joe Bennett, Sr. of Camden; sons, Gregory Bennett of Sugar Land, Joe Bennett, Jr. of Dallas; step-son, Donald Hamilton of Houston; daughters, Cheri Bennett of Humble, Erica McKinney of Chester, Shana Bennett of Alto; step-daughters, Alice McNeil of Galveston, Deborah Winslow of Humble; brothers, Gerald Morris of Moscow, Stanley Morris of Livingston and Stephen Morris of Chester; sisters, Bonnie Coleman and Frankie Wright of Wichita Falls; 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Services are entrusted to Corrigan Funeral Home, Inc.

Ora Lee Davis
December 14, 2003
CORRIGAN -- Funeral services for Ora Lee Davis, 84, of Lufkin were December 6 in the Faith Temple Church of God in Christ with Bishop Carlos Mitchell officiating. Interment followed in the Union Springs Cemetery.
Ora Davis was born on June 13, 1919 to the late Beb Bailey and the late Laura Spikes, in Corrigan, s. She attended Corrigan public schools. Ora Lee was united in holy matrimony to Nathaniel Napoleon Davis during the fall of 1957. She accepted Jesus as her Savior. After an extended illness she went home Monday, December 1, 2003.
Ora Lee was a good wife, mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor. She never met a stranger. As she journeys on to her world of Heavenly joy, she leaves to rejoice her loving husband of 46 years, Nathaniel Davis; son and wife, General Lee (J Boy) and Vivian McCloud of Hempstead; step-daughter, Lois Davis of Trinity; granddaughters and spouses, Sheila and Travis Lee of Lufkin, Yvonne and William Selmon of Houston, Sandra and Donald Garrett of Diboll, Yvette and Henry Jernigan of Longview and Sharon Crisp of Houston; grandsons and spouses, Dwayne and Patricia McCloud of Corrigan, Eric McCloud of Houston, Dale McCloud of Tyler; step-grandsons and spouses, Anthony and Linda Barnett of Livingston, Jerome and Paulette Barnett of Houston, James and Beverly Hunter of Corrigan and Wade Whitaker of Livingston, nieces, Ina Jackson, Cheryl Brown and Andrea Wyatt all of Corrigan; nephew, James Jackson of Lufkin, special friends, Nina Hulett, Teresa Lloyd and Florene Logan; a host of great nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, 30 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sister, Lucille Jackson and grandson, Derick Mitchell.
Pallbearers were Eric McCloud, James McCloud, Dwayne McCloud, James McCloud Jr., James Hunter, Tremaine Davis, Prince McCloud, Xavier McCloud, Devin Lee, D'Avian Houston (Sugar Cake).
Honorary pallbearers were Javonni Henderson, Anthony Henderson, Ambrose Brooks, Brian Jackson, Charles Jackson and Cedric Jackson.
Services were entrusted to Corrigan Funeral Home, Inc.

Fred David "Dave" Baker
December 14, 2003
LUFKIN -- Graveside services for Fred David "Dave" Baker, 77, of Lufkin were held December 4 in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery near Woodville. Memorial services were in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jamie Lee officiating at both services.
Mr. Baker was born on November 8, 1926 in Haslam, Texas to the late Lela Mae (Hinson) and Dave Casino Baker and died on Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at his home.
He resided in Lufkin for the past 32 years and formerly resided in Trenton, New Jersey for 12 years. He served in the United States Navy for eleven years and was a retired retail salesman. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and served as choir director until Spring of 2003.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Baker of Lufkin; son, Dave Baker of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen Baker of Trenton, New Jersey; Cindy and Stacy Davenport of Lufkin; Susan and Keith Capps of Diboll; eight grandchildren: Melissa Morgan, Sarah and Maddison Capps, Zack and Nick Smith, Tyler and Savannah Davenport; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bettye and K.C. Platt, Flicka and Bill Grady all of Lufkin, Dottie and Raymond Lovett, Jimmie Settle, Billie and Ken Kennison all of Beaumont, Jackie Arnold of Groves, Elizabeth "Punkie" Williamson of Denton, sisters-in-law, Mary DeSantis of Trenton, New Jersy, Theresa Hatrak of Seaside Heights, New Jersey; brother-in-law, Bobby DeNicola of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his brother, William Baker, and sister, Georgia Walsh.
Honorary pallbearers were Dave Baker, Keith Capps, Stacy Davenport, Zachary Smith, Tyler Davenport and Nicholas Smith.
Services were entrusted to Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home, Lufkin.

Redrick Berton Fogle Sr.
December 6, 2004
TRINITY – A memorial service for Redrick Berton Fogle Sr., 89, of Trinity were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at Emerson Unitarian Church, 1900 Bering Drive, in Houston.
Mr. Fogle died Thursday, Nov. 25, following a brief illness.
Born Jan. 28, 1914, in Shreveport, La., he was graduated from Minden High School in 1930. During his youth in Minden, he was active in the Boy Scouts of American, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. He was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute in 1935.
Mr. Fogle was married to Ruth Murphy in 1936 and in 1940 the couple moved to Baton Rouge where he was an active member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club and the Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Fogle served as president of the Baton Rouge Sales Executives Club and was a founding member of the Baton Rouge Unitarian Church.
During World War II, he served in the Pacific Theater as an officer in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the amphibious forces taking part in the invasion of Okinawa.
In 1960 he moved his family to Houston to manage Brown-Fogle Equipment Co., a construction equipment dealership which he later purchased and changed the name to Fogle Equipment Co.
His wife, Ruth, died in 1978 and he later married her sister, Georgine.
During his career in Houston, Mr. Fogle served in various roles with the Houston Chamber of Commerce, the Associated Equipment Distributors and Emerson Unitarian Church. He was an active member of the church, serving as president of the board and chairman of the building committee during the construction of their new sanctuary.
Mr. Fogle retired from business and he moved with his wife back to Baton Rouge in 1990. In August, 2004, they moved to Trinity to be near family.
Survivors include his wife, Georgine; two sons, Redrick B. and Linda Fogle Jr. and William G. and Connie Fogle of Trinity; a sister, Francis L. Fogle of Dallas; seven grandchildren, Redrick B. Fogle III, Gordon Bennett Fogle, James Alan Fogle, George Carlton Fogle, Ruth Elizabeth Fogle Sparks, Rebecca Elaine Fogle Warriner and William Gordon Fogle Jr.; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Delbert Edell Greer
December 6, 2004
GROVETON – Services for Delbert Edell Greer, 81, of Apple Springs were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, in the Groveton Funeral Home Chapel in Groveton with Bro. Robert Lankford officiating.
Burial followed in Johnson Cemetery.
Mr. Greer died Thursday, Nov. 25, in Lufkin.
He was born Nov. 19, 1923, in Weldon and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was employed in the trucking business.
Survivors include a sister, Fleeta Nell Burk of Prichett; a number of nieces and nephews, John A. and Paula Tullos of Helmic, W.H. and Sue Tullos of Apple Springs, Jason Tullos of Houston and Susan Tullos of Apple Springs; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers included Charlie Mayton, Royce Mayton, Dewayne Falvey, Dwayne Fry, John Tullos, Jason Tullos and W.H. Tullos.

David Willis Gunnels
December 6, 2004
TRINITY – Services for David Willis Gunnels, 62, of Conroe were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, in the Waller-Thornton Funeral Home of Trinity with the Rev. Larry Cotton officiating.
Burial followed in the New Salem Cemetery in Centerville.
Mr. Gunnels died Saturday, Nov. 27, in Memorial Herman Hospital in The Woodlands.
He was born Dec. 8, 1941, in Eudora, Ark. And was the owner of DaCe Steel Erectors in Spring.
Mr. Gunnels was preceded in death by his father, Aulsie Willis Gunnels; a brother, Jimmy Martin Gunnels; and a sister, Eva Darlene Gunnels.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Todd and Cindy Gunnels and Troy Gunnels; his mother, Eva Gunnels; two brothers and their spouses, Leo and Linda Gunnels and Carl and Fay Gunnels; a grandson, Austen Gunnels; and a special friend, Doris French.
Waller-Thornton Funeral Home of Trinity directed the arrangements.
