LOUIS JOHN FOESTER III

Louis John Foester III, 60, of Port Lavaca, died on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003.

He was born Jan. 4, 1943 in Victoria, the son of the late Louis J. Foester Jr. and Lena Catherine Bastian Foester. He was a self-employed farmer and rancher.

In addition to his parents, Foester is preceded in death by a son, James DeLeon Foester.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley DeLeon Foester; a daughter, Dawn Foester Lane of Port Lavaca; two sons, John Martin Foester of Port Lavaca and Marc Louis Foester of Victoria; a sister, JoAnn Stiegler of Port Lavaca; four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

The funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hatch Bend Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of South Texas, 1908 N. Laurent, Suite 430, Victoria, Tx. 77901 or the Cancer Society, c/o Irene Hare, memorial chairwoman, PO Box 771, Port Lavaca, Texas 77979.

Richardson/Colonial Funeral Home, 552-2988, is in charge of arrangements.

TIMOTHY 'TIMBO' RICHMOND BLEVINS

Timothy "TimBo" Blevins, 55, of Seadrift, passed away Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003.

He was born April 15, 1948 in Port Lavaca to the late Wesley Cleo and Tommie Key Blevins. He served in the U. S. Navy, was a commercial fisherman and a member of First Baptist Church, Seadrift.

He is survived by his wife Cynthia Henthorn Blevins of Seadrift; daughter, Amanda Elizabeth Hagen of Baltimore, Md; sons, Jason and Christopher Blevins of Alabama and Tommy Jo Blevins of Seadrift; sister, Alice Ann Peeler of Seadrift; brothers, Robert Blevins of Victoria, James Michael Blevins of Crystal Beach, William Donovan Blevins of Victoria and Barry Lynn Blevins of Florida; and grandchildren Sarah Mac Blevins of Alabama and Joseph Hagen Jr. of Baltimore, Md.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2 in the First Baptist Church, Seadrift.

Memorials may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4403, P.O.Box 4403, Port Lavaca, Tx, 77979.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home, 361-552-2988.

JOHN DAVID PETERS

John David Peters, 90, of Port Lavaca, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004 in Memorial Medical Center.

He was born June 24, 1914 in Crosby to the late Bessie and John Henry Peters. He married Vlasta Marek of Port Lavaca on his 25th birthday. Besides his wife and family, he loved fishing and moved to Port Lavaca permanently in 1948. He was a retired Alcoa employee.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 65 years, Vlasta Marek Peters of Port Lavaca; daughters Mary Peters Allison of Port Lavaca and Betty Peters Friedrichs of Victoria; son, John Frank Peters of Port Lavaca, seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at the Six Mile Assembly of God Church on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Richardson/Colonial Funeral Home, 552-2988.

LESLIE C. MCDONALD

Funeral Mass for Leslie Charles McDonald, 84, of Angleton will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with celebrant Father Bob Duggan.

Graveside services will be held in Evergreen Cemetery at 3 p.m. in Victoria. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, at Palms Funeral Home with a Wake and Rosary Service beginning at 7 p.m.

McDonald was born in Victoria on May 13, 1920 to Joseph B. McDonald Sr. and Theresa Jecker McDonald. He served his country in the U.S. Air Corps and the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. During his working years he owned and operated a small grocery store for a few years and also worked for the Victoria Advocate Publishing Co. and the Victoria County Mirror as a linotype operator. He worked for Union Carbide Corp. in Port Lavaca for many years as well.

He and his wife Patricia came to Angleton in 1980. He was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus and held numerous positions. McDonald's passions were Tuesday night bingo at the KC Hall and traveling the country in his motor home with his wife and friends. Patricia preceded him in death on March 3 of this year.

Surviving are three sons: Leslie C. McDonald Jr. and wife Dianne of Houston, Patrick W. McDonald and wife K of Houston and Wick McDonald of Angleton; brother, L.F. McDonald and wife Valerie; two grandchildren, Claire Mach and Wilkins J. McDonald Jr. and wife Jodi; two great grandchildren, Ashley Mach and Victoria McDonald.

Arrangements are under Palms Funeral Home, 2300 E. Mulberry, Angleton, TX 979-849-4343.

DANNY L. HEYSQUIERDO

Danny L. Heysquierdo, 27, Port Lavaca, died on Wednesday, Nov. 10.

He was born July 18, 1977, the son of Daniel Heysquierdo of Kyle and Sylvia Lopez Balderas of Port Lavaca, His step-father was Rosalio Balderas of Port Lavaca. He was a member of the Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Felizity Anita-Marie Heysquierdo and two brothers, Manuel Heysquierdo and Tomas Heysquierdo.

He is survived by two sons, Giovanni Pena of Port Lavaca and Royce Heysquierdo of Victoria; nine sisters, Sylvia Ann Perez of Victoria, Rosie Angela Balderas of Port Lavaca, Anna Marie Balderas of Port Lavaca, Selina Marie Balderas of Port Lavaca, Olga Heysquierdo of Kyle, Raquela Heysquierdo of Kyle, Connie Heysquierdo of Kyle, Esperanza Heysquierdo of Kyle and Barbara Hernandez of Denver, Col. and five brothers, Raymond Lopez of Port Lavaca, Jap Heysquierdo of Kyle, Daniel Heysquierdo Jr. of Kyle, Felico Heysquierdo of Kyle and Jesse Heysquierdo of Kyle.

A funeral Mass was recited at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. Burial followed in the Seadrift Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ronnie Camacho, Juan Medina Jr., Chris Heysquierdo, Jose Delgado, Bobby Mendez, Kraig Kennemer, Fidencio Barrios and Daniel Heysquierdo. Honorary pallbearers were Henry Martinez III, Martin A. Martinez, Tommy Sanchez Jr., Juan Perez, Benny Hinojosa, Edward Camacho and all nieces, nephews and close and dear friends.

Artero Memorial Chapels of Port Lavaca, 552-2300, was in charge of funeral arrangements.

BARBARA JEAN MAGELUZZO

Barbara Jean Mageluzzo, 61, of Port Lavaca, co-owner of Radio Shack in Port Lavaca between 1988 and 2001, died on Friday, Dec. 3, 2004.

She was born Nov. 7, 1943 in Austin, the daughter of the late Elizabeth Noe Shaw and John T. Shaw of Port Lavaca. She was a member of Alamo Heights Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Calhoun High School.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Darrel Shaw.

Survivors include her father, John T. Shaw and stepmother Jo Shaw, both of Port Lavaca, her husband, Jack Mageluzzo of Port Lavaca; daughters Cindy Jackson and Kim Rosenbrock of Port Lavaca; son Trey Mageluzzo of Port Lavaca; brothers, Eddie Shaw of Victoria, John Shaw of Port Lavaca and Garland Shaw of Rockport; and 15 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Grace Funeral Home in Victoria with Robert Hill officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Charles Jaynes, Dr. Ahmad Quadri, Dr. Andrew Clemmons and Angels of the 6th Floor at Citizens Medical Center and the Radiation Department.

Memorials may be made to the Senior Citizens Center of Port Lavaca.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Grace Funeral Home of Victoria, 573-4341.

RICHARD ANTHONY STURM

Richard Anthony Sturm, 63, born in Port Lavaca on Nov. 6, 1941 to Dick and Julia Sturm, died on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004.

After graduating from Calhoun High School, Richard attended Sam Houston State College and enlisted in the U. S. Army, where he was assigned to military intelligence. After a short period of service he developed a mental illness which forced his medical retirement from the Army and which affected him the remainder of his life.

Despite his disability, Richard retained a warm, loving and generous spirit and joy in life. He will be greatly missed and eternally remembered by his family and friends.

Richard is survived by his devoted wife, Jesusa Ochoa, step-daughter Bonimarie Price Rogers, and two step-grandchildren.

He is also survived by four brothers; Charles Sturm and wife, Pat, of Porter Okla., David Sturm and wife, Anza, of Mt. Pleasant, Victor Sturm of Pearland and Leonard Sturm and wife Jane, of Pearland.

Also surviving are three sisters, Grace Gerace of Austin, Margaret Purdum and husband Don of Pearland and Julie Dolezal and husband Tom, of Beeville.

The funeral service were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14 in the chapel at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home.

An interment service followed at 3 p.m. at Port Lavaca Cemetery.

GONZALA QUINTANILLA MORALES SANCHEZ

Gonzala Quintanilla Morales Sanchez, 65, Port Lavaca, died on Tuesday, July 22, 2003.

She was born on Jan. 10, 1938 in Premont, the daughter of the late Senon Morales and Adela Quintanilla Morales. She was married to the late Luciano Sanchez Sr. She was a homemaker, owned her own home and was a member of the Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Sanchez and three brothers, Raul, Pedro and Andres Morales.

Survivors include eight daughters, Gloria Martinez of Port Lavaca, Nora Galindo of Mission Valley, Norma Barrientez of Cuero, Celia "Sally" Saenz of Victoria, Ofelia Martinez of Port Lavaca, Janie Sanchez of Victoria, Pamela Sanchez of Pearland and Rachel Velasquez of Port Lavaca; six sons, Andres Sanchez, Luciano "Runner" Sanchez Jr., Pete Sanchez, Michael Sanchez, Senon Sanchez and Joaquin "Jackie" Sanchez, all of Port Lavaca; three sisters, Martina Ozuna of Premont, Estolia Villa of Sarita and Janie DeLaCosta of San Antonio; five brothers, Fidencio Morales and Remigio Morales Sr. of Seadrift, Tomas Morales, Daniel Morales and Senon Morales of Port Lavaca; 29 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday, July 25 at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. Burial followed in the Port Lavaca Cemetery.

Grandsons Homer Saenz, Christian Martinez, Christopher Martinez, Jeff Sanchez, Alex Sanchez and Feliz Garza were pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Hector Martinez Jr., Luciano Sanchez III, Jeremy Garza, Ian Sanchez, Noah Jacob Sanchez and Gabriel Martinez. The floral committee was made up of Shelby Saenz, Brittany Martinez, Marlena Sanchez, Jordyn Kate Saenz, Felicia Garza and Christian Sanchez.

Artero Memorial Chapels of Port Lavaca, 552-2300 were in charge of arrangements.

IRENE D. BOMERSBACH TANNER

Irene D. Bomersbach Tanner 74, of Port Lavaca, died Thursday, July 24, 2003.

She was born Feb. 6, 1929 in Inez, the daughter of John Bomersbach of Victoria and the late Julia Zak Bomersbach. She was married to the late Kenneth Tanner. She was a nurse's aide and a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church.

In addition to her mother and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Bomersbach Hathaway.

Survivors include a daughter, Elaine Whitney of Port Lavaca; brothers, Jasper J. Bomersbach of New Braunfels, Ernest F. Bomersbach of Houston and Sylvester John Bomersbach of Victoria; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, in Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. Burial followed in Port Lavaca Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home, 552-2988.

RUBY V. PRIDDY CANION

Ruby V. Priddy Canion, 87, of Port Lavaca, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003.

She was born Oct. 22, 1915 in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Andrew "Dave" Priddy and Ola Belle Fisher Priddy. She was married to the late W. H. Canion. She was a teacher for 36 years at various schools in Calhoun County. She was a member of Eastern Star, Alamo Heights Baptist Church and retired as a member of the Texas State Teachers Association.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Beulah Snow.

Survivors include daughters Beulah Clarice Thompson of Port Neches and Margie Lynda Albrecht of Austin; son, Forest Harvey Canion of Port Lavaca; brothers, Lester Andrew Priddy of Port Lavaca, James "Jim" Wesley Priddy of Port Lavaca and Forest Glen Priddy of Port Lavaca; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens with the Eastern Star conducting graveside services. Pallbearers will be members of the Mason Lodge #36 AF&AM.

WALTER SIDNEY SHELL

Walter Sidney Shell, 75, of Florence, went to be with his Lord on Nov. 28, 2003.

He is a descendant of the Isaac Williams and Jonas M. Shell families, who were among the first settlers of Williamson county in the mid 1800s.

He was born in Georgetown on May 7, 1928 and attended Georgetown schools where he played football his senior year (class of '46). He enjoyed it so much that he elected, along with a few teammates, to play yet another season the fall of '46 before graduating mid-term. He continued his education at Tarleton State before transferring to Texas A&M College where he graduated early with a BS degree in Agricultural Education in August of 1950 (class of '51). After college, he joined the U.S. Army and was assigned to the Inspection Services Company in New York City. Upon his discharge in 1953, he joined the USDA Soil Conservation Service in Port Lavaca, Calhoun County, Texas where he met Mary Frances Whatley. They were married on Dec. 3, 1955 at the First Methodist Church of Port Lavaca. The newlyweds returned to Georgetown where he continued the family ranching tradition the remainder of his lifetime in Williamson County.

Mr. Shell was preceded in death by his parents Ethel Edwards and Jonas M. Shell Jr., along with a brother Jonas "Son" Shell, brother-in-law Tom Murray, and sister-in-law Evelyn Shell.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Frances Whatley Shell; son Michael Shell; daughter Kathryn, her husband Dr. Dan Voss and their children Matthew, Kyle, Sarah and Christi; son Charles Shell, his wife Cheryl and their daughter Courtney; son Wayne Shell, his wife Susan along with their children Andrew, Kevin, and Stephanie. He is also survived by brother William "Wiggie" Shell, sister Marguerite Murray and sister-in-law Claris Shell along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

Viewing and visitation was held between 2 and 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 30 at the Gabriels Funeral Home in Georgetown. Graveside services followed at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec, 1, at the Berry Creek Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to one of the following: the Pratt Family Scholarship Fund (c/o Sheila Dierschkey, 468 Caloma Road, Port Lavaca Texas, 77979), the Berry Creek Cemetery Association (c/o Patsy Hoyle, 4801 North Highway 35, Georgetown, Texas 78628), or to any charity of your choice.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Gabriels Funeral Home in Georgetown.
