Mr. Bailey

Larry Don (Beetle) Bailey died Feb. 8, 2001 at his home in Lawton, Okla. after an extended illness. Funeral services were held at the Riley Funeral Chapel on Feb. 10 with Rev. Marvin Andrews officiating Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mr. Bailey was born Oct. 14, 1952 in Stephenville, the son of Robert Lee Bailey Jr. and Mildred Lucille Kirkland Bailey.
He was a veteran, having served in the Army. He was an electronics engineer and machine mechanic in the clothing industry. He was of the Christian faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his grandfather, Robert Lee Bailey Sr. of Hamilton; three sisters, Wanda Andrews and husband Marvin of Tyler; Betty Dowell of Hamilton; Myrna McKie and husband Chuck of Lawton, Olka.; two grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Ricky Haile, Charles Harris, Jessie Kirkland, Stanley Schrank, David Kirkland and Stanley Sellers.

Mrs. Carr

Teresa Chasteen Carr, 39, died April 2, 2001 at her home in Southlake. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 4 at 2 p.m. at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Southlake. Burial will be at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
Mrs. Carr was a longtime employee of American Airlines and Sabre Holding Company. She was a loving wife and mother and a sustaining strength to her family and friends. She displayed character and attitude that exemplified her Christian beliefs even during the trials of her cancer.
Survivors include her husband of 16 years, Ricky L. Carr of Southlake; children, Brian, 13 and Andrea, 10; parents, Donald and Darlene Chasteen; brother, Brad Chasteen of Coppell and a sister, Cinda Knight of Soutlake.

Mr. Oustad

Thomas Bailey Oustad, 80, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at a hospital in Abilene.
Services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Munday Church of Christ with Marshall Coffey officiating and Weldon Newton assisting. A special poem was read by Ray Hunter.
Burial was at Johnson Memorial Cemetery under the direction of McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Oustad was born in Hamilton County. He was a mechanic and a member and a deacon of the Munday Church of Christ. He worked for the John Deere dealership in Munday.
He married Ida Newton in Hamilton County.
Survivors include his wife, Ida Oustad of Munday; two sons, George Oustad and Greg Oustad, both of Munday; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mildred Sheard, Margaret McCarty and Martha Rice; and two brothers, M.E. Oustad and Larry Oustad.
Pallbearers were Byron Gass, Joe Shahan, Joe Valencia, Doug Parker, Dale Carroll and M.M. Booe.

Mrs. Hulsey

Creola Hulsey, 82, of Lake Brownwood, died June 9 at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness. Funeral services were held June 12 in the Rocky Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Justice officiating, assisted by the Rev. S.L. Yeilding. Burial followed.
Mrs. Hulsey was born Jan. 9, 1919 at Indian Gap, the daughter of the late Otto Perry and Maggie Elizabeth Lovelace. She was married to Sterling Benningfield at Pleasant Grove in 1936. She later married Walter Hulsey on Aug. 8, 1964. He preceded her in death on Aug. 15, 2000.
She was a homemaker and a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church, having lived at Lake Brownwood since December of 1979, moving from Odessa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister, Lucy Faye Lovelace.
Survivors include her son, Sterling Randall Benningfield of San Antonio; a step son, Bobby Hulsey of Dallas; a daughter and son-in-law, Ernestine and Glenn Lucas of Tellico Plaines, Tenn.; a step-daughter, Martha Harvey of Midland; a brother, Owen Perry Lovelace of Brownwood; four grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Tripp

Frances Louise McGinnis Tripp, 71, died May 29, 2001 at Hamilton Nursing Home. Graveside services were held May 31 in San Antonio at San Jose Burial Park.
Mrs. Tripp was born Jan. 25, 1930 in San Antonio, where she lived most of her life.
Survivors include her former husband, Elden Tripp; her daughters, Bonnie Titus, Melody Bedwell and Robin Hunkler; her sons, Princeton Evans, Arely Evans, Bobby Evans and Timothy Tripp as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Taylor

Olivia Opal Taylor, 86 of Gatesville, formerly of Hamilton, died June 10, 2001 at the Hillside Manor Nursing Center in Gatesville. Funeral services were held June 12 at the Park Heights Church of Christ in Hamilton with Dr. George Tolbert and Pete Jordan officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.
She is preceded in death by her husband; a grandson; a great-grandson; three sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include her four children, Melba Jean Shimko of Lampasas, Jerry Watson Taylor of Fredericksburg, Dennis Ray Taylor of Gatesville and Billy Bob Taylor of Tolar; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; four sisters, Jewel Casbeer of Goldthwaite, Alta Casbeer of Abilene, Velma Harrell of Portland and Ruby Trice of McKinney.

Mrs. Thompson

Annie Florence Thompson, 75 of Hamilton died June 11 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple. military graveside services were held at 2 p.m. June 13 at I.O.O.F. Cemetery with Rev. Mike Fritchcer officiating.
She was born June 10, 1926 in Cambridge, Mass., the daughter of George T. Awalt and Annie B. Patterson.
Mrs. Thompson enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on July 16, 1954 where she served until Sept. 13, 1956. She was awarded the National Defense Service Ribbon.
She was married to George P. Thompson on Feb. 11, 1956 in Honolulu, Hawaii while they both served with the Marine Corps. When her husband was assigned duty station around the world, she took charge of the family to see that all was well for his return.
Mrs. Thompson was a homemaker, a devoted wife and mother and a Baptist by faith.
She is preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.
Survivors include her husband of Hamilton, five children, Mark P. Thompson, James N. Thompson and Laurie A. Thompson, all of Dallas, Katherine E. Thompson of Clifton and Janet S. Thompson of Dallas as well as a sister, Glady Mouldon of Boston, Mass.

Mr. Hansen

Norman D. Hansen, 69, died Aug. 9. Funeral services were held Aug. 11 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hamilton. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.
He was born Feb. 1, 1932, the son of Hanz Fritz and May M. Hill Hansen. He was raised on a farm in Iowa and joined the Air Force in January 1949 at the age of 17. He served in Korea and Vietnam, serving a total of 22 years. After retiring from the Air Force in 1971, he joined the United States Secret Service and served in the field office at Austin for three years. He worked in the governor’s office as an administrative assistant in the Criminal Justice System and Budget and Planning Office.
He was married to Anna Gene Harmon Hanson in 1968 at Bergstrom, AFB. The couple purchased a farm in Hamilton County in 1985. The farm served as a weekend home until 1997 when it became their permanent residence.
Mr. Hanson saw a need for affordable housing and rental property in Hamilton. He built and renovated serval houses and two duplex units.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Patricia Wood McCord of Canton, Susan Wood Martin of Bastrop; his sons, Norman Dale Hansen of Houston, Michael David Hansen of Nuneaton, England; seven grandchildren; his brother, Donald Hansen of San Francisco and a sister, Adella Moskerson of Phoenix, Ariz.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and gratitude for the care he received during his illness to Randy Lee and nurses of the Hamilton Hospital, Dr. Harold Cain and nurses of the North Austin Medical Center.

Mr. Murdoch

Raye Noble Murdoch, 78, died Aug. 9, 2001 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple. Graveside services were conducted Aug. 10 at the Sipe Springs Cemetery in Eastland County.
He was born June 17, 1923 at Girard, Kemp County, the son of William Franklin and Mary Elizabeth Sisk Murdoch.
He had worked as a wrangler on ranches and was one of the last members of the original RCA Rodeo Cowboy Association. Mr. Murdoch was world champion saddle bronc rider. He was also a retired hoist operator for the Operating Engineers in New Mexico.
He served his country with the Army, during World War II as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne.
Survivors include his longtime companion, Lois Murdoch Barnett of Hamilton; four children, Charlotte Sue Nelson-Gilder of Arlington, Leonard R. Murdoch of Pensacola, Fla.; Deborah Pierce Hardgraves of Lake Whitney and Licia McBrayer-Boothe of Irving; six grandsons; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Jean Hand of Phoenix, Ariz, Velma Cox of Riverton, Wyoming and a brother, Jerry Murdoch of Tangent, Ore.

Mrs. Spencer

Janna Beth Spencer, 87, died Aug. 7, 2001. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 9 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin McDonald and Brad David officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.
She was born March 26, 1914 in Belton, the daughter of John P. Kattes and Ruby Lee Strickland Kattes. When she was young, the family moved to San Saba County where she graduated from Richland Springs High School after which she attend Neilson Beauty College in Dallas, working in Vernon and San Angelo before owning and operating a shop.
She was married to Robert A. Spencer on Sept. 19, 1941. He preceded her in death in October 1968.
The family moved to Hamilton in 1950. Mrs. Spencer was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, was counselor for both boys and girls missionary organizations, a member of the choir, worked in Vacation Bible School, prepared snacks for the children of God Squad, took part in services for area nursing homes and served on several Sunday school and church committies. She was a member of the Bykota Sunday School class.
Mrs. Spencer worked as a clerk and buyer for the Garner Alvis Department store from 1960 – 1980.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a borther; two sisters; a step-grandson and two brothers-in-law.
Survivors include a son, John W. (Dub) Spencer and wife Susan of Plano; a daughter, Glenda Manning and husband Ron of Alexander City, Ala.; four grandchildren, Jayson Sellers and wife DaShell of Carrollton, Kristi Browning and husband Shannon of Alexander City, Ala., Meghan Spencer and Paige Spencer of Plano; three great-grandchildren, Megan Browning, Haley Browning, Gavin Sellers; two step-great-grandchildren, Keith Manning and Kendra Manning; two borthers, J.B. Kattes and wife Virginia of Longview and Hugh Kattes and wife Mildred of Winnsboro; a sister, Pauline Smith of Keene; a brother-in-law, Marcus Taylor of Irving; four nephews and four nieces.
Pallbearers were Alex Catoe, Jimmy Don Edwards, Johnny Slough, Ronnie Harris, Dewayne Clover and Lawrance Mulloy.
Honorary pallbearers were Danny Johnson, Alyce Poteet, Ray Sparks, Tina Summers, David Lengefeld and Sandra Lengefeld.
For memorials the family has designated the Hamilton General Hospital.

Mr. Olivarez

Cayetano Olivarez, 85, died Aug. 3, 2001 at Wood County Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Aug. 8 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Bowling Green. There was a private burial officiated by Fr. Edward J. Schleter.
He retired in 1970 from the former Daybrook-Ottawa Co. of Bowling Green as a tool and die setter.
Mr. Olivarez was born June 6, 1916 in Flor de Mayo, the son of Ignacio and Ladislado (Cavazos) Olivarez. He was married to Lidia Soto in Bowling Green on Sept. 19, 1942. She preceded him in death on Oct. 17, 1998.
Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Ygnacio Andres and Manuel; two sisters, Ofelia Telles and Petra Cortazzo.
Survivors include seven daughters, Margarita “Rita” Binkowski and Marsha Olivarez, both of Bowling Green; Phyllis Dominguez of Redwood City, Calif; Lilly Fragoso of Hamilton and Odulia Sarmienta of Texas; Melinda Magnusson of Tucson, Ariz; Maria “Mary” Redieck, Risingsun; two sons, Marc Olivarez of Bowling Green and Oscar Olivarez of Findlay; a sister, Consuela Rodriguez of Detroit; a brother, Santos Olivarez of El Paso; 35 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Butler

James Patterson Butler, 77 of Clovis, NM died Aug. 12, 2001. Funeral services will be held Aug. 15 at Central Christian Church with burial at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis, NM. Larry Tedrow will officiate.
He was born Jan. 30, 1924 in Dripping Springs, the son of W.S. and Edith Patterson Butler. He was a retired pharmacist.
Mr. Butler graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1946 with a Bachelor of Sceince degree in pharmacy. He moved to Clovis and bought a drug store. He registered the trademark of Thrifty Drug. He operated Thrifty Drug until 1963.
He was married to Peggy Ann Thomas on March 31, 1955 in Santa Fe NM.
He and eight local physicians built the Clovis Medical Arts Building where he owned and operated the Medical Center Pharmacy until his retirement in 1993.
He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge, Clovis-Portales Elks, Shriners Club and Central Christian Church. He was also a member of the University of Texas Exes Alumni Association and a long-time booster of the Clovis High School Wildcats and University of Texas Longhorns.
He enjoyed having friends and family at his home for day-long sessions of watching football and sharing holiday meals. His favorite hobby was gardening and sharing his bounty with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Joel Butler of and a daughter, Jill Butler, both of Clovis, NM; a sister, Billie Hall of Hamilton and one grandchild.
Pallbearers were Dr. James B. Moss and Dr. Robert Boese, Walter Ingle, Dr. Pasupathy Padmanabhan, George Krattiger, Scott Miller, Lee Ross Hammond and Johnny Nigerville.
