Esther Anna Spitzenberger Eisen
Esther Ana Spitzenberger Eisen, 96, of Hamilton died June 21, 2007 in the Lutheran Sunset Home in Clifton. Funeral services were held June 25, in the St. John Lutheran Church in Hamilton. Burial was in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
She was born on September 5, 1910, the daughter of John and Augusta Peters Spitzenberger in Carmine. She was baptized into the Christian faith on Nov. 20, 1910, at Round Top by Pastor John Harder.
She grew up on the family farm with her parents, brothers, and sisters. One of her jobs was to give haircuts to her siblings. She also picked cotton with her brothers and sisters and was seen as the best cotton picker of them all.
The Spitzenberger family attended church at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shive.
On March 28, 1926 Mrs. Eisen stood before the altar and before Pastor C. Roth and proclaimed her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. She was faithful during her life in love of her Lord.
She was married to Carl Adolph Eisen of Aleman on Dec. 5, 1935, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Shive, by Pastor G. C. Senff. They worked together to build a life with farming as their source of livelihood. Mrs. Eisen spent most of her adult life as a homemaker and partner to her husband.
The Eisen family moved to the Pottsville community in 1948 and became active members of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Eisen was a member of the ladies group and enjoyed working with others to benefit those in need. In 1979 when the family moved into Hamilton, she transferred her membership to St. John Lutheran Church and here also she was very active with the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, the Ruth Guild.
She was famous for her delicious canned fruits and vegetables. Her family’s fondest memories are of her dill pickles, and her crusty light bread.
Mrs. Eisen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1987; her brothers, Willie and Arthur Spitzenberger; her son, Eugene; and her great-grandson, Wayne Palmer.
Survivors include a son, Eldor Eisen and wife, Dorothy, of Richland Hills; one daughter-in-law, Effie Eisen, of Granbury; one daughter, Laura Hunt and husband, Willie, of Ft. Worth; two brothers, John and Paul Spitzenberger; two sisters Bertha Wagner and Erna Eisen; her grandchildren, Sandra Palmer, Suzanne Salazar, Aaron Hunt, Jacob Hunt; and great-grandsons Danny Palmer, Joey Salazar, and Kristopher Salazar and a number of nieces and nephews.

Walteen Sellers
Walteen Sellers, 92, died June 23, 2007. Funeral services were set for June 27 at 10 a.m. at OakCrest Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Freeto officiating. Burial was to follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Sellers was born Oct. 9, 1914 in Moran, the oldest child of Lonnie and Sallie Wood. Her family moved to the Hamilton area when she was young. She attended schools in the Aleman Community and in Hamilton. After high school she worked as a beautician in Hamilton.
She was married to J.F. Sellers on Sept. 21, 1935. They spent several years in Hamilton and Gatesville before moving to Waco. They made their home in Waco for more than 50 years. She loved spending time with her granddaughters. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, now Central United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1990 and a sister and a brother.
Survivors include her daughters, Monta Jean Sellers Conner and husband Ted of Valley Mills, Suzanne Sellers Bingham and husband Johnny of Waco; her granddaughters, Shawna Tiner and husband Richard of Cleburne, Cristin Barron and husband Don of Joshua; sister Maggie Davis of Hamilton; brother, Allan Wood of Ft. Worth and several loving nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hankey
C.R. Hankey, 86, of Caddo, Okla., died June 22, 2007 at his residence. Funeral services were held June 26 at Dalton-Holmes Chapel with his nephew, Glen Paul Reagan officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery in Durant, Okla.
Mr. Hankey was born Jan. 17, 1921 in Princeton, the son of Sam and Lillian Eslie (Reid) Hankie. He moved to Bryan County in 1923.
He attended Cobb High School and Murray State College. He was married to Ruby Belle (Davis) on Aug. 5, 1942 in Durant, Okla. Mr. Hankey was a farmer, a member of the First Methodist Church of Caddo and enjoyed playing dominoes.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lowell Hankey.
Survivors inclued his wife, Ruby Belle of Caddo; daughters, Carole Shea and Linda Patterson and husband Kenny, all of Sherman, Reta Jackson and husband Joe of Fort Worth, Jeannette Gray and husband Steve of Caddo, Okla.; a son, Don Hankey and wife Brenda of Gunter; a sister-in-law, Rosa Lee Hankey of Houston; a sister, Gwen Renaldi of Redwood City, Calif; brothers, Lindy Hankey of Caddo, Okla., Ferrell Hankey of Frisco and Sam Hankey of Edmond, Okla.
Pallbearers were Carl Don McMichael, Chance Gray, Michael Shea, Chris Shea and Brett Hankey. Honorary pallbearers were J.D. Fanning, Harlon Hyde and Roy Flenniken.

Tommy "Tex" Blakley, 76, of Birmingham, AL, died June 25, 2007. Funeral services were set for June 28 in the Jefferson Memorial Chapel. Burial at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East.
He was born in Fairy. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from U.S. Steel and the State of Alabama, and worked parttime at Budget Rent-A-Car.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lois Hurst Blakley; parents, Jesse E. Blakley and Emmaline P. Blakley; sister, Irene B. Bankston; brothers, Billy D. Blakley, James M. Blakley, and Cecil E. Blakley; and grandson, Brandon J. Blakley.

Raymond C. Dragoo, 82, of Carlton, a land developer, rancher, and mechanic, died Oct. 10, 2007 at his residence. Funeral services were held on Oct. 13, at Lacy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Fritscher officiating. Graveside service was at Laurel Land Memorial Park Cemetery in Ft. Worth.
Mr. Dragoo was born on Sept. 22, 1925, the son of Allen Crawford and Imogene (Mc Mickin) in Brady.
He was married to Betty Joy Walker on Sept. 18, 1948, in Ft. Worth. He was a Baptist. He was a Mason and a Shriner with the Ft. Worth Chapter.
Survivors include wife, of Carlton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Vikkie Dragoo of Mansfield and Jack and Christi Dragoo of Carlton,; five grandchildren, David Dragoo of Mansfield, Dewayne Dragoo of Mansfield, Tanya Dragoo of Burleson, Ashlee Dragoo of Carlton, and Andrew Jackson Dragoo of Carlton; and three great grandchildren, Bradley Dragoo of Mansfield, Kyle Dragoo of Mansfield, and Lilly Guntarick of Burleson.
He was preceded in death by one son, Cecil Dragoo on Jan. 7, 1973.

Leta Ireta Brummett, 91, died Oct. 11, 2007 at the Sterling County Nursing Home in Sterling City. Graveside services were held Oct. 13 at the Cottage Hill Cemetery in Hamilton with Mike Allen, pastor of the Hilltop Baptist Church in Hamilton officiating.
Mrs. Brummett was born on June 27, 1916 in Hamilton County, the daughter of Arthur and Leta Solomon. She was married to Garfield R. Brummett on July 24, 1932 in Hamilton. He preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 1978.
She and her husband farmed and ranched in Hamilton County until 1951. She moved to Big Spring from Pecos in 1965. She was a homemaker and a member of College Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lottie Crews and Ruth Louis and a brother, D.A. Solomon.
Survivors include a nephew and his wife, Tom and Ann Solomon of Houston as well as a cousin and her husband, Vernice and Robert H. “Bob” Moore of Big Spring.

Mary Charlene Gardner Pendergrass died on Oct. 12, 2007. Funeral services were held at Arlington Community Church on Oct. 15. Burial was in Hamilton.
She was a longtime resident of Irving before moving to Hamilton after retirement for 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Gail Hoffman.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Jesse Monroe Pendergrass of Houston; a son, James Pendergrass of Cairo, Egypt; her son-in-law, J.E. ‘Gene’ Hoffman of Palestine; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren and five brothers.

Ashley Nicole Leach, 18, of Hico died Oct. 16, 2007 in Waco. Funeral services were held Oct. 21 at Riley Funeral Home.
She was born Dec. 24, 1988 in Dublin, the daughter of Jimmy and Irene Humphrey Leach.
She graduated from Hico High School and was attending M.C.C. She was a member of the Fairy Baptist Church.
Survivors include her parents, Jimmy and Irene Leach of Hico; grandfather, Donnie Leach of Hamilton; grandmother, Florence Leach of Evant and a sister, Chelsea Leach of Hico as well as numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Burial was at Gentry’s Mill Cemetery.

Rickey Aldine Nolte, 56, of Pottsville died Oct. 17, 2007 in his home. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
He was born August 17, 1951 in Corpus Christi, the son of Aldine L. and Marilyn Baird Nolte. He was married to Rosalind Gerth in Houston on May 30, 1982. Mr. Nolte was a self employed rancher for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Rosalind Nolte of Pottsville; two children, Richard Nolte and Kristopher Nolte, both of Houston; two brothers, Stephen Nolte of Corpus Christi and Timothy Nolte of Nashville, Tenn.; three sisters, Deborah Roberts of San Antonio, Katherine Kensing of Hamilton and Constance Nolte of Hamilton.

Edward Luke Howell, 100, of Hamilton, died Oct. 16, 2007 in the Forrest Oaks Nursing Home in Hamilton. Funeral Services were held Oct. 18, in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Keith Felton officiating. Burial Followed in the Oakwood Cemetery.
He was born Sept. 17, 1907 in Camp Springs, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Luke Elvin and Myrtle Lee Jones Howell. He married Delia Opal Hodges in Camp Springs Texas on Nov 23, 1924. Mr. Howell was a farmer and business man. He managed a cotton gin in the Camp Springs area, and afterward owned and operated a service station in Goldsmith.
He was the fire chief in Goldsmith and a 32 degree master mason. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hamilton.
Survivors include a son-in-law, James Stautzenberger; a daughter-in-law, Angie Cook of Hamilton; a brother, Elvin Newton Howell; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Luke Johnny Howell in 1968; a daughter, Jean Stautzenberger in 2002; a sister, Edna Wood and a brother, Elmer Howell.

Pamela Bailey Padgett
Pamela Bailey Padgett died Oct. 15, 2007 after fighting a long and courageous battle with ovarian and breast cancer. A funeral service was held on Oct. 18 at Seaside Chapel in Corpus Christi. A graveside service and burial was held on Oct. 20 at Crestview Memorial Park in Witchia Falls.
She was born August 1, 1948 in Wichita Falls, the daughter of Margery Cameron Lancaster and Charles William Bailey Jr. She was raised by her grandmother, Grace Belle Cameron, and her aunt, Mary F. Washburn.
Mrs. Padgett fought to be with her husband, family, and friends for as long as she could. She wanted her grandbabies to know her, and she enjoyed being a part of their lives. Her children were always the most important part of her life, in fact, they had been her life.
She hoped to spread the word about ovarian/breast cancer to as many women as she could and as necessary in order to get across her message: “Don’t give up- face it and beat it.” She wanted them to know that it is possible, especially if caught early enough, and then hoped everyone could have someone special to help her through it, as she did in her loving and caring husband, Morris, and her family.
Survivors include her husband, Morris N. Padgett, Jr.; her children, Shane Hood and wife Christina and Jennifer Harris and husband Michael; and her grandbabies, Avery Grace, Isabelle, and Parker; her children through marriage: Kimberly English and husband Jon, Morris Padgett and wife Gay, and Steven Padgett and wife Megan; her grandchildren, Paige, Ashley, Clair, Erin, Ashlee, Tyler, Alexandra, Caitlyn, and Sydney; sisters, Kay Haroldson and husband Harlen and Cheryl Towles and husband Owen; brothers, Jackie Cameron and wife Robin and Lanny Lancaster and wife Nancy; her mother and stepfather, Margery and Jim Lancaster and many nieces and nephews.

Jessie (Jake) Opal Busher Carmichael, 94, died Oct. 19, 2007 at Western Hills Health-care Residence.
She was born June 1, 1913, in Granger, one of six daughters of Robert Lee and Dorothy Jane Lancaster Busher. She grew up in Littlefield.
She was married to Monte Evart Carmichael on Sept. 19, 1936. She was very active in church and community work. She taught Sunday school, was a Sunday school director, a GA Leader, and a member of many church committees. In addition to these activities, she was a hospital volunteer.
She loved to visit and was always carrying food and / or church literature to shut-ins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Monte Evart Carmichael and five sisters.
Survivors include a daughter, Jane Ann Bickham of Sugarland, and a son, Monte Carmichael Jr. and his wife Margaret of Lamkin; five grandchildren, Keith Carmichael and wife Jana, Kelly Ann Carmichael, Ken Carmichael and wife Kristen, Blake Bickham and wife, Allison and Brenda Traylor and husband, Todd; seven great-grandchildren, Harrison, Hudson, and Hayden Carmichael, Cade and Owen Bickham, and Layne and Lyla Traylor and a number of nieces and nephews.
