Mrs. Hubbard
Bernice Beatrice Hubbard, 99, died at Hamilton April 21, 2004. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. April 25 in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randall Thetford, a lifetime family friend, officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.
Mrs. Hubbard was born April 8, 1905 at May, one of six children of Willie Calbert Kinser and Cora Lee Tucker Kinser.
She was united in marriage to Samuel L. Hubbard on June 10, 1923 at Carlton. The couple made their home in Carlton until 1961 when they moved to Hamilton. He preceded her in death on April 20, 1973.
Mrs. Hubbard moved to Austin in 1995 to be near her son. While in Austin she resided at Ameripark Retirement Home and returned to Hamilton in June of 2003.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was active in the Senior Citizen Center in Hamilton as long as her health would permit. She was a member of the Littleville Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, H.L. Hubbard; an infant sister, Beulah Lee Kinser and four brothers, Mabry, Melvin, Leslie and Darwin Kinser.
Survivors include one sister, Clarice Turner of Hico; three grandchildren, LaQuita Nauert of Austin, Sherry Schumann of Pottsville and Richard D. Hubbard of Blanket; nine great-grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ronny Nauert, Robert Nauert, Rod Nauert, R.D. Hubbard Jr., Joe Hubbard, Jennifer Sinyard, Jamie Schumann, Jessica Lloyd and Jared Schumann.

Mr. McKenzie
James William McKenzie died at his home in Crowley April 21, 2004. Funeral services were held April 24 at Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Hamilton with burial in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mr. McKenzie was born in Hamilton and moved to Fort Worth in the early 1950s and has lived in Crowley since 1983.
He was in the foundry business working with Texas Bronze, Anacast and most recently Wesco Ind. He also worked for four years at General Dynamics and was an Army veteran.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Ada Florence Yeager and one brother John Benton McKenzie.
Survivors include one son, Michael William McKenzie and his wife Lindy of Fort Worth; four sisters, Norma Lee Tidwell of Springtown, Ellen Grace Curtis and her husband Robert of Fort Worth, Margaret Yeager Newman and her husband Keith of Doyline, La., and Deborah Ann Yeager of Fort Worth.
Pallbearers were Steve Curtis, Jason Brackeen, Allen Brackeen, Jeff Curtis, James Curtis and Rob Curtis.

Mr. Fuqua
A.B. Fuqua, 85, of Lamesa, died April 26 at Covenant Medical Center, Lakeside, Lubbock. Graveside services will be conducted April 28 at Gentry’s Mill Cemetery in Hamilton with Mike Barkowsky offciating. Burial followed.
Mr. Fuqua was born Jan. 19, 1919 in Hamilton County. He was married to Georgia Alice Westfall on May 31, 1941 at Carlton.
He was a World War II veteran with amphibious forces in the South Pacific. He attained the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Annie House Fuqua; a daughter, Debra Fuqua Furlow; two sisters, Amber Allen and Charlie May Dauphanais and four brothers, Doc Fuqua, J.C. Fuqua, Elmo Fuqua and Robert Fuqua.
Survivors include his wife of Lamesa; a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Sherry Fuqua of Big Spring; a sister, Ruby Harlin of Lampasas; two granddaughters and their husbands, Audra and Mike Barkowsky of Lamesa and Vanessa and Martin Gill of Lubbock and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Richardson
William Jesse Richardson Jr., 52, of Amarillo died July 7, 2004 at his home. Funeral services were held July 13, at Trackside in Louisville, Ky.
He was an assistant thoroughbred horse trainer.
Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy Richardson and his sister, Judy Threet.
Survivors include his children, Benjamin Jesse Richardson, Kerry Rohde and Adam Rohde; a brother, Paul Richardson; sisters, Delta Howard and Sandy Richardson and four grandchildren.
Mr. Neie
Lt. Col. Reuben William Neie, U.S. Air Force, 86, died June 22, 2004. A celebration of his life was held on June 27 and private funeral services for family members were held June 28 at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla.
He was the son of Otto and Lilly Neie.
Mr. Neie served his country for 28 years in the U.S. Air Force, serving in World War II as a bomber pilot, and also in the Korean War and the Vietname War.
He enjoyed playing golf and tinkering with his 1923 Buick Roadster.
He will be remembered for putting his family and friends first and was quick to help those in need. He enjoyed working on inventions or solutions, including a golf chart and a squirrel deflector.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Javon and their three children, Grandt Neie and wife Kathleen, Van Neie and wife Barbara and Lee Ann Childress and husband James and his second wife, Lee.
Survivors include his second wife’s children, Dave Reed and Patricia Hooper and husband Earl; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and three more on the way this year.
Mr. Knight
Harper L. Knight, 96, died July 8, 2004 in Hamilton. Funeral services were July 11 in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Hamilton with Rev. Bradley Layton officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.
Mr. Knight was born September 20, 1907 in Cooke County, the son of William and Florence Phillips Knight.
As a young man he participated in rodeos and was a cowboy in West Texas.
He graduated from Texas A&M in 1935. He was the first Vocational Agriculture teacher in the Bowie ISD and was instrumental in establishing their program.
During WWII he managed a government cheese plant in Watonga, Okla. For a number of years he worked for the Soil Conservation Service in Knox County. He also served as a bank loan officer for the First National Bank in Bowie.
Mr. Knight served two terms as county judge in Childress County and had a private law practice in Childress. Foremost, he was a rancher.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star. He was a past Worshipful Master, and a past Worthy Patron of the Order of Eastern Star. He was a member of the Central Christian Church in Childress.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Juanita (Nita) Jane Knight in 1993; his parents; three brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include a daughter, Jane Blackwell and her husband Gene of Lamkin, three grandchildren, Dr. Robert Blackwell of Palestine, Debora Bryant of Tyler and Brenda Shelton of San Antonio.
Pallbearers were Robert Blackwell, Lynn Bryant, Stephen Bryant, Gary Shelton, Davis Linn, Demps Knight, Mitch Lykins and Jack Meholin.

Mrs. Stegemoller
Doris R. Stegemoller, 63, died July 7, 2004 in Arlington. A memorial service was held July 9 in Advent Lutheran Church in Arlington. Funeral services were held in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Pottsville with Pastor Paul Senff officiating. Burial followed in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
Mrs. Stegemoller was born Nov. 1, 1940 at Pottsville, the daughter Arthur William and Emma Seilheimer Riewe.
She was baptized December 22, 1940 at Trinity Lutheran Church by Rev. G.C. Senff and confirmed on July 31, 1955 at Trinity Lutheran Church by Rev. F.L. Bracher.
In May of 1958 she graduated from Pottsville High School and continued her education at Texas Woman’s University at Denton, Texas earning a B.S. Degree in Home Economics Education in 1962. In February of 1963 she went to work as Home Economist for Lone Star Gas Company in Fort Worth. In August of 1964 she began teaching the eighth grade Home Economics at Carter Jr. High School in Arlington.
On September 7, 1963 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pottsville she was married to Johnnie Stegemoller. Mrs. Stegemoller was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Eldor and Tillman Riewe.
Survivors include her husband, Johnnie Stegemoller of Arlington; two sons, Michael Stegemoller and his wife Jennifer; three grandchildren, Nikota Stegemoller, Sierra Blue Stegemoller and Tristan Stegemoller, all of Pottsville and son Jason Stegemoller of Canyon as well as a host of aunts, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Larry Dreyer, David Jeske, Richard Jeske, Michael Riewe, Kenneth Sharp, Noah Smith, Mark Virant and David Riewe.

Mrs. Mayfield
Mary Susan Mayfield, 93, passed away in Brownwood June 30, 2004. Funeral services were held in the First Baptist Church in Hamilton with Rev. Keith Felton officiating. Burial followed in Indian Gap Cemetery.
She was born on May 24, 1911, the son of W.V. and Susan Harris in Ballinger.
She graduated from McGregor High School as valedictorian of her class and attended one year of college at Daniel Baker in Brownwood while working her way through school by babysitting and housekeeping for a local family. She loved school and learning.
She was married to Bert Mayfield in Hamilton on July 19, 1931. To this union two daughters were born, Margaret and Bertie.
Mary went on to get her LVN license in 1966 and worked at the Hamilton County Hospital for 22 years. She loved her work and enjoyed meeting the people of the community.
She loved First Baptist Church in Hamilton where she was a member for 25 years.
Mrs. Mayfield moved to Early and lived with her daughter, Bertie in 1966. She spent time each year with her other daughter and family, Margaret in California.
Survivors include her daughters, Margaret and husband R.T. Bedell of Norco, Calif. and Bertie Hopper of Early; a sister, Lillian Bilton of Hamilton; Edie Allred of Fort Worth and a brother, Dale Harris and wife Sue of Waco; 13 grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, W.V. Harris Jr., Harold Harris and her identical twin sister Martha Dunn Williams.
Pallbearers were Alan Hopper, Bryan Hopper, Mark Strickland, Cortney Hopper, R.T. Bedell and Chris Koonce.

Bernice Ford, 89, died July 8, 2004 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Donna Smith Fisher and Bill Fisher. Memorial services were held Sunday afternoon at Evant Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Ford; a daughter, Sonya Smith Vaughn; a great-grandson, Jeremiah Ryan Fisher; two brothers, Ray and Harmond Culp.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna and husband Bill Fisher of Lindale; four grandsons; two granddaughters; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Iris Smith of Purmela.

Grace Langford Merritt, age 87, of Garland formerly of the Olin Community died August 27, 2004. A graveside service was held August 31 at Erath Gardens of Memory Stephenville.
She was born Nov. 16, 1917. She was a homemaker and a member of Olin Baptist Church of the Olin Community in Hamilton County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Presley Merritt.
Survivors include her daughters, Elaine Fackler of Garland and Jerry Caudill and husband, Larry of Baytown; son-in-law, Richard Fackler, II, grandchildren, Michelle Leisure of Cave Springs, Ark., Lana Fackler of Sachse, Richard Fackler III of Flower Mound, Jerry Fackler of Austin, and Brian Fackler of Garland.

Bennie Ray Vanderpool, 61, of Dublin, died August 31, 2004 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple. Funeral services were held at Harrell Memorial Chapel on Sept. 3 with Dean Bradley officiating. Burial followed at Dublin Liveoak Cemetery.
He was born March 8, 1943 in Corsicana, the son of Floyd Harland Vanderpool and Opal Tackett.
He was married to Betty Ann Elliott on Oct. 12, 1963 in Dublin and was a member of Park Street Baptist Church and the D.V.A. He served in the war in Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife of Dublin; his mother of Dublin; a son, Bennie Jr. and wife Sharla of Dublin; a daughter, Sheri and husband Jason of Fort Worth and a daughter, Jeannie and husband Barry Simpson of Glen Rose; grandchildren, Stephanie, Zachary and Shelby Simpson of Glen Rose, William and Michael Vanderpool of Dublin and Kennedy and Ryan Hansen of Fort Worth and sisters, Betty Cooper of Hamilton and Ruby Goin of Dublin.
