Mr. Holley

Alton Neely Holley, 85, died on Friday, Oct. 22, 2004 in his home. Funeral services were held at the Littleville Baptist Church on Oct. 24 with the Rev. Bill Schibler, Baptist minister of Clifton, officiating. Burial followed in the Gentry’s Mill Cemetery with Holley Funeral Home of Canyon handling the arrangements.
He was born on April 9, 1919, in Lampasas County, the son of Roland Leonard Holley and Ruby Mignon Neely Holley.
He was married to Sarah Lucille Elam on December 24, 1938. He was a farmer and rancher in Hamilton County and worked for the City of Hamilton as a heavy equipment operator for 10 years. He was a volunteer worker at United Care since 1989 and served on their board the last two years. He was a member of the Littleville Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Ronald and wife Jo Ann of Greenville; Arnold and wife, Mickey of Canyon; David and wife, Helen of Hamilton; a daughter, Nancy Swint and husband, Jim of Douglassville; a brother, Claude Holley of Fairy; a sister, Laura Elizabeth McConathy of Whitney; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials sent to: CCS Hospice, 118 E. Live Oak, Suite 104, Dublin TX 76446.

Mr. Knebel
Earl H. Knebel, 84, died Dec. 1, 2004, in Chapel Hill, N.C. after an extended illness. Memorial services were held at Greenwood Garden Chapel.
Mr. Knebel was born May 17, 1920. During his 41-year career in education he served as a high school vocational agriculture teacher, coach, school superintendent and university professor. He spend 28 years at Texas A&M University as a professor of agriculture education with 23 of those years as chairman of the department until his retirement in 1984.
Early in his career he taught vocational agriculture at Hamilton High School, where he also assisted the late Pete Roach coaching the Bulldog football team.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Dorothy Fogelin, who was from Fort Worth.
Survivors include: a daughter, Karlene Knebel; a son-in-law, Richard Mann; granddaughter, Lilli Mann; sister, Mae Yonce; and brothers, Harvey Knebel and William Knebel.

Dr. Tennison
Dr. Grayson C. Tennison, 80, died Dec. 31, 2004, in Fort Worth. Memorial services were held Jan. 3 at Gambrell Street Baptist Church. Graveside services were held at Greenwood Memorial Park.
Dr. Tennison was born Dec. 27, 1924 in Plainview. He graduated from Howard Payne University in Brownwood and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Dr. Tennison began services as a missionary in 1949 in Brazil with the International Mission Board. He transferred to Portugal in 1960. From 1976 to 1983 he was pastor of First Baptist Church in Jacksboro and returned to Portugal until his retirement in 1989.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Survivors include: his wife of 59 years, Betty Tennison of Fort Worth; children, Gene Tennison and wife, Barbie of Dayton, Laura Law and husband, Dick of Fort Worth and James Tennison and wife, Debra of Arlington; grandchildren, Amy McAdams, Julie Spell, Grayson Eugene Tennison Jr., Toya Haas, Christie Pierce, Sara Law, Justin and Lauren Tennison; great-grandson, Hayden McAdams; brothers, Dr. Clifton Tennison, C.E. Tennison and Ike Tennison and wife, Verna; sister, Ramona Akins and husband, the Rev. Ferris; and a sister-in-law, Ellen Pyle.

Mr. Inabnet
James Inabnet died Dec. 31, 2004 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Graveside services were held Jan. 2 at Murphree Cemetery in Evant, Rev. Charles Chaney, Dale Keeling and Rev. James Marrs officiating.
He was born April 3, 1922 in Colorado City, the son of James Roger Inabnet and Ozzella Mitchell Inabnet, His early years were spent in Erath County. In 1938 the family moved to Evant.
Mr. Inabnet proudly served his country in the Pacific fleet in the U.S. Navy from 1941-1945. In Oct. 1945 he was married to Betsy Mahoney of Williamsburg, Virginia and they started their life together in Evant.
Mr. Inabnet was editor of the first Evant School yearbook in 1939. In 1949 he was appointed Evant Postmaster by President Harry Truman. He served many years on the Evant School Board and established the first Evant Parent Teacher Association; He was the first Mayor of Evant and a fine craftsman.
After being postmaster for 30 years, he retired to pursue his passion, the designing and building of fine furniture. He enthusiastically followed the creative process until his final days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Mitchell Inabnet and his sister Linda Inabnet Keeling.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Betsy; a sister, Virginia Inabnet Leahy; daughters, Lou Chandler and husband Ron, and Normarie Alexander; granddaughters, Holli Hill and Heather Alexander; grandsons, Jake Hill, Robert Alexander, and Chris Alexander, great- grandson, Ashton Alexander and many nieces and nephews
The family has designated memorials in his honor to the American Cancer Society by calling 800-227-2345.

Mr. Adair
Charles Joe Adair, 77, died at his home Dec. 29, 2004. Funeral services were held Dec. 31 in the First Baptist Church at Gustine with Rev. John Ward and Rev. Robert Cavanaugh officiating. Burial followed in the Toliver Cemetery at Lamkin.
Mr. Adair was born Feb. 8, 1927 at Uvalde, the son of the late Lyman and Marjorie Habermacher Adair.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Gustine. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a 50 year member of Rock House Lodge in Hamilton.
He retired from Texas Parks and Wildlife in 1987 where he was a maintenance specialist. He loved the tranquility of country living, hunting, fishing, and being outside.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Doris Wilson, and brothers Billy Adair and Glen Adair.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-one years, Dorothy Adair of Lamkin; two step-daughters, Shirley Fasel and husband Jerry of Austin and Dee Middleton and her husband Mike of Los Alamos, New Mexico; a step-son, Lee McCullough of Brownwood; two brothers, Weaver Adair and wife Elaine of Breckenridge and Alfred Adair and wife Dorothy of Georgetown; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Pallbearers were Craig Jordan, Jim Stotz, Scott Jordan, Jason Fasel, Jeremy McCullough and Mathew McCullough.

Mr. Massingill
George Elmer Massingill, 81, of Temple died Jan. 2 in a Temple hospital.
Funeral mass was set for Jan. 5 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Ranjan Cletus officiating. Burial was at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Westphalia. Rosary was recited Jan. 4 at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
Mr. Massingill was born Dec. 11, 1923 in Shive, the son of Troy and Britty Fulcher Massingill.
He served in the South Pacific Theater during WWII where he was wounded four times on the Island of Bouganville in the Solemn Islands. Following the war he returned to Hamilton County where he farmed and ranched. He was also retired from Wilsonart.
Mr. Massingill was married to Anita Fuchs on June 3, 1969 in Temple.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where he served on the bereavement committee and was a volunteer worker with seniors. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, DAV and the VFW Post #1820.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild.
Survivors include his wife of Temple; a son, Jackie Massingill of Hamilton; three daughters, Linda Curry of Hamilton, Brenda Schrank of Hamilton and Connie Jones of Proctor; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and a sister, Judy Seller of Abilene.

Mr. Wood

Luther Otto Wood, 85, of Hamilton, died at his home Feb. 14, 2006. Funeral services were held Feb. 16 in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. James Ballard officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mr. Wood was born March 6, 1920 at Ballinger, the son of William Otto Wood and Ora Mae Sparks.
On August 18, 1940 at Ballinger he was married to Bert Johnson. The couple moved to Hamilton in 1946 where Mr. Wood entered a partnership with Mr. Marchbanks in the grocery business. Later Bill Robinson and Mr. Wood joined together in partnership making Wood & Robinson Grocery.
In 1984 when David’s Grocery came to Hamilton, Mr. Wood managed it from its arrival, retiring in 2004 then going back and working part time into 2005.
Mr. Wood has served Hamilton and the surrounding community in the grocery business for more than 58 years. He was a member of the Rock House Masonic Lodge # 417 earning his Apprentice Degree in 1951, Fellowcraft Degree on January 21, 1952 and his Master Mason Degree on March 28, 1952.
He served as Master of the Lodge in 1958. He received his fifty year pin in 2002. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hamilton.
He is preceded in death by a son, Billy Michael Wood; his parents, two sisters and one brother.
Survivors include his wife; of Hamilton; a son, Gary Wood and his wife Julie of Salado; three grandchildren, Michael Wood and his wife Julie, Matthew Wood and Elizabeth Wood; two sisters, Lois King of Wharton and Lorene Rucker of Granbury and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Sonny DeLa Garza, Max Rudolph, Dr. Randy Lee, John Isensee Josh Mehaffey, Bobby Patton, and Leo Johnson.
Honorary Pallbearers were Judy Whitt, Jerry Mize, Paul Winn, David Waldrep, and Joe Weimer.

Mrs. Willard

Ruth Ada Schrank Willard died in the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home on Feb. 15, 2006.
She was buried in the cemetery of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Aleman on Feb. 18 following services in the church at Aleman.
Mrs. Willard was born in Aleman on June 29, 1919, the third living child of Walter W. Schrank and A. Emma Schrank Schneider. She was baptized and confirmed by her uncle Reverend Emil Ferdinand Moerbe in St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at Aleman.
She attended school for seven years in the parochial school of St. Paul’s congregation at Aleman under schoolmaster William H. Nielsen.
Mrs. Willard attended high school at Aleman for three years and finished high school at Hamilton High School and graduated in 1937. Soon thereafter she moved to Houston where she attended night school in order to acquire the skills necessary to become a secretary. She worked as secretary to the owner of Gulf Coast Rice Mills for many years.
She was married to Benton Ottis Willard on July 3, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1989 and Mrs. Willard assumed management of BOW Office Supplies until her retirement.
She lived in Houston until 1997 when she went to live in the Treemont Nursing Home in Houston until 1999 at which time she moved to the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home in Clifton.
Survivors include her brother, Lawrence L. Schrank of Aleman; sisters-in-law, Elvera Schrank of Midland; and Gerda K. Schrank of Aleman, seven nephews and a niece.
Pallbearers were Fredrich Schrank, James Sommerfeld, Allen Schrank, Oscar Melde, David Melde, and Mark Melde. Honorary pallbearers were Martin Schrank, Castil Lee, Leman Lucas, Paul Gromatzky, and Billy Mac Brown.

Mrs. Riley

Erin Frances Vise Riley, 84, died at Frisco, Feb. 17, 2006. Funeral services were held Feb. 20 in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. J.W. Sellers officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Riley was born May 9, 1921 at Belton, the daughter of Lucian and Ola Smith Morrison.
She was married to Eber A.S. Vise on Jan. 22, 1947 at Belton. He preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 1979.
Mrs. Riley was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
With her husband’s work taking him all over the world, Frances was often left to care for and nurture their five sons.
She was a great cook, love to watch birds, especially the humming birds and later in life she was an avid reader.
Mrs. Riley was a member of the Eastern Star and the Methodist Church.
On May 10, 1982 Frances was married to Granville Robert (Bob) Riley at Corsicana.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, William L. Vise (Billy) of Weatherford and Thomas R. Vise (Tommy) of Georgetown; a sister Marjorie Wilson of Evant; a brother, Lucian Morrison of Austin; three grandchildren, Joy Williams of Frisco, Chris Vise and Shauna Vise and two great- grandchildren, Reagan Williams and Kelsie Williams.
She is preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Robert Vise (Bobby), Samuel Vise (Sammy) and James Vise (Jimmy).
Pallbearers were Rick Stephens, Carl Williams, Willy Buster, Steve West, Jim Gebhardt and Michael West.

Mrs. Jernigan

Hazel Jordan Curry Jernigan died Feb. 15, 2006. Funeral services were held Feb. 18 at First Baptist Church in Hico with burial at Hico Cemetery.
She was born March 14, 1910 near Carlton, the daughter of Mattie Jane King Jordan and John William Jordan.
Mrs. Jernigan graduated from Carlton schools and was a house parent in the Methodist Orphanage for a number of years and was also an employee of the J.W. Wood Manufacturing Co., Inc.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hico and the Order of Eastern Star. She taught Sunday school, played the piano and was class president. Mrs. Jernigan also started the committee to bring the Senior Center to Hico.
She was married to Bernell Jernigan on March 13, 1980. He preceded her in death.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Jernigan is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and four brothers.
Survivors include a stepson, Don Jernigan and wife Sharon; a step son-in-law, W.L. Bernard and wife Luda; four step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Wilma Jean Kirby and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Oustad

M.E. Oustad, 77, of Marble Falls, died Feb. 16, 2006. Funeral services were held Feb. 20 at Clements-Wilcox Chapel with Max Copeland and Lyn Rice officiating. Burial was at Center Valley Cemetery in Hamilton.
He was born Oct. 17, 1928 in Pottsville, the son of Martin and Eula Viola (Foller) Oustad.
Mr. Oustad was a concrete contractor. He enjoyed gardening, landscaping, hunting and fishing and he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Nevis Oustad of Marble Falls; daughters, Mata Cox and husband Charlie of Marble Falls, Linda Grilley and husband Steve of Stephenville, Martha Becerra of Salt Lake City, Utah; sons, Marty Oustad and wife Lynn of Tow and Daryl Oustad and Karen Wilson of Kingsland; sisters, Margaret McCarty of Canton and Martha Rice of Hico; brother, Larry Wayne “Buster” Oustad of Arlington; grandchildren, Cristy, Stacy, Erin, Waylon, Cade, Chassy, Carlee, Darian, Dustin and Lindy and great-grandchildren, Madison, Braedon and Mya.
Pallbearers were Waylon Oustad, Stacy Barnhill, Jason Rice, Zel Rice, Bobby Sheard and David Knight.
