Mrs. Mittle Courtion
Myrtis Mittel Courtion, 92, died on Dec. 28, 2004, having lived the past seven years in Myrtlewood Estates and Re-gency House in San Angelo. Funeral services will be held at Johnson's Funeral Home in San Angelo at 10:00 a.m. on Thurs-day, Dec. 30. Burial will be held at 12:15 p.m. at the Sonora Cemetery.
Mrs. Courtion was born on Nov. 28, 1912, in Union Parish, LA, and as a young girl, moved with her family to San Angelo. After graduating high school, she worked for the Tom Green County Treasurer.
She was married to Ben F. Mittel, a rancher in Sutton County, in 1931. He preceded her in death in 1971.
During her 20 years in Coryell County, Myrtis owned and operated a general mer-chandise store in Evant. While living there, she served her community and her church with her love for music as a pianist and organist.
Myrtis was a member of College Hills Baptist Church in San Angelo and will be lov-ingly remembered for her ser-vice in the community to the family shelter, Shannon Memo-rial Hospital, the Literary Council and homebound minis-tries.
In 1972, she moved back to San Angelo to join her family. She later married Dr. Charles E. Courtion, a long-time resi-dent of San Angelo. He pre-ceded her in death in 1979.
Survivors include 2 daugh-ters, Marilyn Mangum and hus-band Charles of Austin and Melinda Jordan and husband Jerry of San Antonio; a son, Ben R. Mittel and wife Peggy of Gatesville; a step-daughter, Mary Helen Courtion of Kerr-ville; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Kopp
Herman Harold Kopp Jr., 71, of Priddy, died Dec. 27, 2004 at his home. Funeral ser-vices was set to be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30 at Zion Lutheran Church in Priddy with Pastor Don Kingman officiat-ing. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery in Priddy.
He was born Aug. 15, 1933 in Priddy, the son of Herman K. Kopp and Louise Seilheimer Kopp. He was married to Fran-ces Niemann on June 8, 1951 in Priddy.
He was baptized Sept. 3, 1933 at Zion Lutheran Church in Priddy and confirmed March 1948 at Zion Lutheran Church in Priddy. He graduated from Priddy High School in 1950.
Mr. Kopp lived in Odessa from 1963 until 1983 and was director of service from Bron-cho Chevrolet. In 1984 he moved back to Mills County where he enjoyed farming and ranching. He served as general manager at Lawson Implement in Goldthwaite, retiring in June, 2003.
He served in the Army in the Korean War in 1954-1956.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-mother.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Lynn and husband Neil Muxworthy of Hamilton; two sons, David and wife Sheryle Kopp of Highland Vil-lage and Anthony Wayne Kopp of Cleburne; grandchildren, Jill and Keaton Muxworthy and Tanner and Taylor Kopp; a sister, JoAnn and husband Richard Jeske of Arlington; a step sister, Wynell and husband John McGalliard of Pass Chris-tian, MS.
Pallbearers will be Andy Schwartz, Greg Niemann, Doug Feist, Rick Jeske, Tim Jeske, Steve Niemann, Tanner Kopp and Keaton Muxworthy. Honorary pallbearers will be Truman Marwitz, Billy Law-son, Bob Gautier and William Hall.

Mr. Stubbs

George Benton Stubbs, 85, of Gatesville, died March 2, 2005 in a Temple nursing facil-ity. Funeral service were held-March 5 at Scott’s Funeral Home chapel with burial at Boggy Creek Cemetery in Cranfills Gap.
He was born Jan. 18, 1920 in Jonesboro, the son of Em-mett and Emma Stubbs. He was a Navy veteran of WW II. He retired from the Gatesville State School for boys in 1979. He was married to Iraida Montavo in Mayaquez, Puerto Rico on July 31, 1950. She preceded him in death on Oct. 22, 1986.
He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Wayne Stubbs.
Survivors include his wife, Dora Stubbs of Gatesville; a son, George Michael Stubbs and wife Teresa of Huntsville; a sister, Charlene Coker of Clifton; grandchildren, William Benton “Ben” Stubbs, Miranda Stubbs and Chelsea Stubbs; stepchildren, Ann Swader and husband Ed of Gatesville, Jose Pena Jr. and wife Laura, Victor Pena and Martin Pena, all of Dallas, Ricky Pena and wife Beverly of Gatesville; 10 step-grandchildren and several great step-children.

Mrs. Barton

Elsie Maurine Barton of Comanche died March 4, 2005 in the Hamilton General Hospi-tal. Funeral services were held March 6 in the Hall and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with graveside services March 7 in Balmorhea.
She was born April 19, 1913 in Abbott, the daughter of Oscar Younger and Maude P. Smith Younger.
She was married to William Shelby Moore Oct. 31, 1931. He preceded her in death in August 1963. She later married Eugene Barton on Jan. 26, 1971. He preceded her in death in December 1979.
Mrs. Barton was a retired school teacher having taught in the Balmorhea Independent School District for many years, retiring in 1966. She had been a resident of Comanche for the past four years. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Comanche.
She was preceded in death by six siblings.
Survivors include a son, Evan Moore and wife Linda of Comanche, a grandson, Bill Moore of Comanche; a grand-daughter, Erin Craig and hus-band Seth of Hamilton and a great-granddaughter, Darly Craig of Hamilton.

Mrs. Tischler

Minnie Ida Tischler, 97, died at Hamilton Feb. 28, 2005. Funeral services were held March 2 in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with interment in St. John Lutheran Cemetery at Priddy.
She was born July 1, 1907 at Indian Gap, Texas the daughter of Willie M. and Martha Meissner Seider.
She was married to Gottlieb Tischler on May 24, 1928 at St. John Lutheran Church in Priddy. He preceded her in death on Feb. 13, 1970.
Mrs. Tischler was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grand-mother and aunt. She loved to play dominoes for the fellow-ship and it kept her mind sharp. While in the nursing home each evening she was playing. Minnie loved to visit with peo-ple.
She is preceded in death by her husband; three children, Raymond Tischler, Annie Mae Pack and R.B. Tischler; four sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include a son, Lee Roy Tischler of Lubbock; five grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren and one sister. Erna Marwitz of Hamilton.
Pallbearers were JoBob Thetford, Jason Thetford, Nolan Bentley, Brett Demetruk, A.L. Warren and Michael Tis-chler.

Mr. Sharp

W. T. Sharp Jr., 88, died at Palm Desert, California Feb. 26, 2005. Funeral services were held March 4, at graveside in Cottage Hill Cemetery with Rev. Keith Felton officiating.
He was born Sept. 14, 1916 at Shive, the son of the late Walter Travis Sharp and Edna C. Register Sharp.
Mr. Sharp grew up in the Shive community. On May 19, 1942 he entered the Army to serve during World War II. He was a member of the 147th Armored Signal Corps serving in Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe earning the American Theater Campaign Medal, Euro-pean/African/Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four bronze stars.
After being discharged at the end of the war, he went to work for Trailways Bus Company, retiring after forty-seven years. Most of his working career with Trailways was in Browns-ville. In 1998 he moved to Phoenix, Ariz. to be near one of his daughters. In 2001 he moved to Palm Desert, Califor-nia.
In 1946, Mr. Sharp was mar-ried to Betty Tracy. To this marriage two daughters were born. On September 14, 1974 he married Rowena Carrothers.
He is preceded in death by his wives, a sister and a brother
Survivors include four chil-dren, Yvonne Sharp Nelson of Bryan, JoAnna Sharp Wright of Bermuda Dunes, Calif., Pat Davis and Sandy Hobbs, both of Taylor; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hunter

Frances E. Hunter, 78, a resident of Rio Rancho, NM, also a former resident of Burle-son, died Feb. 10, 2005. A me-morial service was held Feb. 24, 2005 at the home of Peggy and Jim Boatwright.
She was born Jan. 23, 1926.
Survivors include her daughters, Sandra Russell of Bonham, Kathy Vincent of Yulee, Fla.; six grandchildren, Tammy Fite and husband Rich-ard of Albuquerque, Brian Murff and wife Paula of Oki-nowa, Tara Cox and husband Jon, Chad Chamberlain, Dusty and D.J. Vincent, all of Florida; five great-grandchildren, Cam-eron and Brandon Fite, Melissa and Joshua Murff, Isaac Cox; two sisters, Christine Longino of Crowley and Evelyn Fuqua of Hamilton.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth.

Mrs. Parrish

Edith Carol Parrish, 84, died Feb. 5, 2006. Funeral services were held Feb. 10 at the Clayton-Kay-Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel in Alvarado. Burial was in Hamilton at Live Oak Cemetery.
She was born Dec. 25, 1921 in Nampa, Idaho, the daughter of George L. McAnulty and Ella Luetta Marks-McAnulty. She was married to J.D. Parrish in March of 1950 in Redondo Beach, Calif.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband and a sister, Helen Grant.
Survivors include her children, Rhonda Mikuski and husband David of Tucson, Ariz., Jadene Bailey and husband Rob of Cerritos, Calif; David J. Parrish and wife Maureen of Grandview; grandchildren, Marine Metro, U.S. Army Sergeant Richard Parrish and wife Sarah, Christal Byma and husband Gerrit, Deanna Bailey, Brittani Parrish, great-grandchildren, Ethan Parrish, Baylee Parrish; a sister, Georgia Knowlton of Cerritos, Calif; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Richard Parrish, James Parrish, G.W. Parrish, Ed Schulze, Gerrit Byma, Todd Goetze, Don Way, Rex Higley, Frank Hazzard and George Reynolds.

Mr. Wood

Luther Otto Wood, 85, died at his home in Hamilton Feb. 14. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16 in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Ballard officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mr. Wood was born March 6, 1920 at Ballinger.
Survivors include his wife, Bert Wood of Hamilton; a son, Gary Wood of Salado and wife Julie; grandchildren, Michael Wood and wife Julie; Matthew Wood and Elizabeth Wood; sisters, Lois King of Wharton and Lorene Rucker of Granbury.

The family has designated First United Methodist Church in Hamilton for memorials.

Mrs. Chilton
Charlene Onstott Chilton, 84, of Kerrville died April 26, 2006 in the Hilltop Village Care Home in Kerrville. Graveside services were held April 28 at the Live Oak Cemetery with Keith Felton officiating.
She was born Feb. 6, 1922 in Hamilton, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Clifford Onstott. She was married to James D. Chilton June 3, 1945 in Evant. Mrs. Chilton was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include two sisters, Maudine Underhill of Plano, and Coree Estess of Houston; three brothers, Roy D. Onstott of Coppell, Odus C. Onstott of Paulden Arizona, and Billy M. Onstott of Cypress.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Regina Chilton, and a sister, Patsey Whatley.

Mrs. Parrish
Tava Parrish, 68, of Gatesville, died April 27 at a Gatesville nursing home. Funeral services were held April 28 at the Gatesville Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Parrish was born April 29, 1937 in Hamilton, the daughter of Roland Edgar (Dub) and Montie Hampton Parrish. She moved to Jonesboro with her family in 1950 where she attended Jonesboro High School.
She moved to Gatesville in 1957 where she lived her entire adult life. She worked as a waitress at Round Up Café and Flentge Pharmacy. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her brothers, Edgar Brooks Parrish of Gatesville, Robert Parrish and Brenda of Hamilton; sisters, Ann Gilkey of Waco, Betty Gilchrest and Jerry of Gatesville, Elaine Parrish of Dallas and a number of nieces and nephews as well as 35 great-nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Vista Care Hospice, 2626 B S 37th St. Temple, TX 76504.

Tommy Powers
Tommy Powers died May 19, 2008. Memorial services were held May 22 at Calvary Baptist Church in Hamilton with graveside services held on May 23 in Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington.
Mr. Powers was born Dec. 8, 1930, in Hempstead. He lived in White Settlement prior to retirement from General Dynamics in 1993. He served the Lord as minister of music and youth in many different churches. He also led the music in the nursing homes in Hamilton for seven years and was involved in starting two mission churches in Rochell, Ill., and Newark.
Mr. Powers was a volunteer firefighter in White Settlement for 26 years and Pottsville for seven years. He was a fire instructor at Texas A&M for 25 years and was past chaplain for the Tarrant County Firefighters Association. He was also a member of the Hamilton Masonic Lodge, where he served as past master. He was past master of the Lordsburg, N.M., lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jim Powers; daughter, Janie Scifres; and sister, Mary Smith.
Survivors include his wife Ann Powers; son, John Powers; daughters, Carolyn Currie and Joyce Howard and husband, Dale; son-in-law, Vance Scifres; brother-in-law, Dale Smith; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
