Jerry Alton Cozby

Jerry Alton Cozby, age 70, of Horseshoe Bay, died on June 29, 2008. Graveside services were held July 2 at the Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton with Rodney McGee officiating.
He was born in Hamilton on Nov. 29, 1937 the son of Alton (Pete) Anderson and Reba Cozby. He moved to Burnet in 1972 and bought Galloway Insurance.
Mr. Cozby enjoyed hunting, traveling, horse racing, golfing, and family.
Some of his accomplishments throughout his lifetime included: since 1961 he was a Master Mason with the Masonic Lodge since 1960, 1967 Golden Rule Award and chairman Copperas Cove United Fund Inc., 1968 Coryell County Director of the American National Red Cross, 1972 Copperas Cove School Board Member, 1972 Member and president Copperas Cove Jaycee’s, 1972 owner/president of Galloway Insurance Company retired in 1999, 1973 member National Home Builders Association, 1975 Certificate of Service Appreciation from Chamber of Commerce, 1977 President Burnet Chamber of Commerce, 1977 Burnet Rotary Club President, 1977 Board Member of Copperas Cove Industrial Foundation, 1980 Member/President Burnet Bulldogs Sports Association Booster Club, 1985 Certificate of Recognition From National Republican Congressional Committee, board member for United States Selective Service Association Copperas Cove, 1993 Business Man of the year State of Texas, lifetime member of American Quarter Horse Association, board member of Burnet Industrial Foundation, real estate broker since 1964. Had his pilot’s license since 1980, owner of a hunting fishing lodge in Iliamna, Alaska from 1983 to 1987.
Survivors include his wife Janie Cozby; father Pete Cozby of Hamilton; two sons and daughter-in-laws Louis and Karen Cozby, W.T. and Jenny Cozby both of Burnet; two brothers and sister-in-laws Travis and Lola Cozby of Burnet and Danny and Judy Cozby of Alvarado; grandchildren Katie, Kelsie, Lindsey, Kylie and Weston and great-grandchild Marcus “Bubba” and several nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Reba Cozby.
Pallbearers were Dr. Al Bishop, Curtis Logan, Quint Riley, Bill Wilcox, John Hoover, Dick Schieffer, Walter Schwartz and Gerald Cummings.
Memorials may be made to Hill Country Fellowship Building Fund.

William Robert Duff

William Robert Duff, 78, of Marlin, died on July 6, 2008. A memorial service, celebrating his life, was held on July 9, 2008 at Adams Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Thomas Q. Robbins officiating.
Mr. Duff was born Sept. 21, 1929 in Shreveport, LA, the son of Hasell and Oscar Duff, but grew up in Palestine where he graduated high school.
He was a proud member of the United State Navy, and following completion of service for the United States of America; he earned a business degree in 1952 from Southwestern University in Georgetown. While at Southwestern, he joined Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and met a TriDelta named Marilyn Hancock. For 55 years, she was, and is, the love of his life.
Following college, he put his business degree to work as a furniture representative for William-Volker. Later, he opened a retail furniture store in Hamilton that was in business for 25 years. While living in Hamilton, he made many life long and wonderful friends.
Mr. Duff was also a Master Mason at one of the oldest Lodges in the state, the Hamilton Masonic Lodge #31.
He and his wife were very blessed to have three beautiful children, Randolph M. Duff, Robert S. Duff and wife, Nelda, and Diane D. Hunt and husband Shawn. They also have grandchildren Caleb Duff (who gave him his "Papoo" name), Dustin Duff, Jessica Duff, Scott Duff, Duff Hunt, Daxon Hunt and Dane Hunt, Ethan and Erin Duff made sure his quiver was full by being his great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church, 411 Coleman, Marlin, TX 76661 or the Stranger Cemetery Fund, % Bill Fairbairn, 151 Coleman, Marlin, TX 76661, or your favorite charity.

Jonathan M. Hansen

Jonathan M. Hansen, 61, a former longtime resident of Hamilton, died suddenly in Abilene on June 27, 2008. Funeral services were held July 3 in the Lawson Funeral Home Chapel in Meridian with Rev. Terry Atkins and Jim Bayless officiating. Burial was in the St. Olaf Lutheran (Rock Church) Cemetery near Cranfills Gap.
Mr. Hansen was born June 15, 1947, in Odessa, the son of Dorothy Brock and Chris M. Hansen. He was a graduate of Texas Tech in Lubbock where he earned his bachelors degree in 1969. He worked as an auditor in the insurance profession and was a member of the St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Cranfills Gap.
Survivors include his mother; a sister, Jeanne Bayless and husband Jim Bayless; a nephew, James Bayless of Abilene; a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
Pallbearers were Bellamy Bertleson, Gwyn Christensen, James Bayless, Jim Pack, Brian Davis and Ernie Reinke.
Memorials may be made to the St. Olaf Lutheran Church, 410 Meridian St., Cranfills Gap, TX 76637 or to the Salvation Army.

Dr. Thomas Reed Williams

Dr. Thomas Reed Williams, 86, of Gatesville, died on July 2, 2008 in Gatesville. Funeral Services were held at 10 a.m. July 7, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church of Gatesville with Rev. Larry VanZille officiating. Graveside services were at St. Olaf Rock Church Cemetery in Cranfills Gap.
Dr. Williams was born on October 21, 1921 in Pancake, the son of Otis Reed and Lettie Elizabeth Williams. In 1940, he graduated from Tarleton State College, and received his dental degree from Baylor College of Dentistry.
He served in the United States Navy from 1944-1946 and in 1953, was recalled to serve during the Korean conflict. In 1944, he was married to Peggy Hoover, whom he had dated during high school and college.
Dr. Williams began his dental practice in Gatesville in 1946 and retired in 1983. He also was a dentist for the Texas Department of Justice, retiring in 1986.
He was one of the founders of Medical Plastics, now Laerdal Medical, and several other local businesses including Anchor Industries, the original maker of the DeckBoat, Leon Plastics, and Camp Cottonwood, a golf camp for kids.
He was also one of the original developers of one of the city's first premier subdivision's Creek Cliff.
Dr. Williams was one of the organizers of the Gatesville Country Club, and he was involved in the expansion of the golf course to 18 holes. He served on the country club board of directors and as president of the country club.
He was also committed to education. He served as a Trustee on the Gatesville School Board for 10 years.
Other community activities serving on the Gatesville Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Chamber military Affairs Committee, and the civilian advisory board for Fort Hood. In addition to serving his community, Tom served a statewide constituency, which reflected positively on the town.
He served as both president and vice-president of the Texas Dental Association, and served for many years on the state Board of Dental Examiners.
Dr. Williams received many awards including Baylor College of Dentistry's Distinguished Alumni Award in 1986, the TDA President's Award in 1990, and an ADA Presidential Citation in 1994.
Other endeavors include serving as the chairman of the building committee for the First United Methodist Church and also served as the church treasure and chairman of the church's board of trustees.
He was a long time member of the Gatesville Masonic Lodge 197 and a member of the Lion's Club.
Dr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Peggy Hoover Williams of Gatesville; son, Reed Williams and wife Joan of San Antonio; daughter, Anita Maberry and husband Bob of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Eric Maberry, Carter Williams, Elizabeth Maberry Smith and Kate Williams Lathrop and one great-granddaughter Sophia Lathrop.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 2600 East Main, Gatesville, TX 76528 or Coryell Memorial Hospital, 1507 West Main, Gatesville, TX 76528.

Georgia Marie Robinson

Georgia Marie Robinson, 82, died June 19, 2008 at the Hamilton Healthcare Center following an extended illness. Funeral services were held June 22 in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marvin Andrews officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Robinson was born Oct. 12, 1925 in Pottsville, the daughter of Elmer Dee Hurley and wife Ella Spivey Hurley. She graduated from high school in Pottsville. On Oct. 18, 1941 she entered into a 65 year marriage to Rex Byron Robinson, who preceded her in death on March 1, 2006.
The couple raised three children, Rex Dee Robinson, Martha Larine Guest and Jerry Lee Robinson. She is survived by four grandchildren, Austin Guest, Corbett Guest, Jerrod Robinson and Adam Robinson as well as four great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Beckham, Elijah and Fennimore Guest.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Robinson was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Arlie, who died in 1972.
From the early 1940s to the late 1950s she cared for her children as a full-time mother while living in Dallas.
In 1959 she and her husband moved their family to Hamilton County. The move to Hamilton opened an important door in Mrs. Robinson’s life as she embarked on what really became her life’s work; a 40-year mission of enthusiastically caring for the elderly of Hamilton County as she went to work for her parents at the Hurley Nursing Home.
In 1974, her husband joined her in service to the elderly as joint owners and operators of Hamilton Nursing Home. After selling the business in 1988, Mrs. Robinson continued to work in the nursing home field as administrator to other nursing homes in the Hamilton area.
She retired in 1999 after suffering a debilitating automobile accident, which occurred in 1995.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Austin Guest, Corbett Guest, Jerrod Robinson and Adam Robinson. Also serving as pallbearers were close friends, Joe Haynes and Dale Gardner.
Honorary pallbearers were close friends, Zella New, Christina Leach, Nadine Brooks, Verner Gromatzky, Foster Wilcox and Stan Thomashide.
Memorials may be given to a charity or organization of your choice or to The Barn Church, Hwy. 36 East, Hamilton, TX 76531, C/O Marvin Andrews.

Mr. Arnett

Edward Bratton Arnett died Nov. 5 in Hamilton. Funeral services were held Nov. 7 at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Ballard officiating. Burial following in Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.
Mr. Arnett was born December 13, 1914 in Hamilton County, the son of Robert Kooken Arnett and Eula Mae Butler Arnett.
He was married to Mary Juanita Smith on November 23, 1936 at Lampasas. He was devoted to his family, a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Mr. Arnett was a farmer and stockman and he was widely know for his fishing ability. Another one of his life enjoyments was playing dominos.
He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Juanita Arnett of Hamilton; two sons Robert H. Arnett and his wife Lou Ann of Tyler, Don Arnett and his wife Brenda of Hamilton, four grandchildren, Angie J. Winn of Centreville, Va., Amy Henson of Channdler. Jennifer Niemann of Bryan; three great grandchildren and one brother LaVerne Arnett of Irving.
Pallbearers were: Bobby Arnett, Mike Arnett, Greg Arnett, Chris Niemann, Kyle Henson, Kyle Winn and Jerry Chilton.

Mrs. Compton
Janice Compton, 66, of Hamilton, died Nov. 2, 2002 at Hamilton General Hospital in Hamilton. Funeral services were held Nov. 4 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Chapel in Italy. Burial was in the Italy Cemetery.
She was born Nov. 10, 1936 in Hillsboro, the daughter of Joe and Ora Thompson. She attended the Italy High School and loved to paint and travel with her best friend Jean Saunders. She was married to Billy R. Compton on May 24, 1953 in Milford.
Survivors include her husband, Billy R. Compton of Hamilton; seven sons, Tommy and wife Donna of Arlington, James Ray and wife Deborah, Billy Joe and wife Teresa, Larry and wife Betty, all of Hamilton, Richard and wife Patti of Milford, Steven of Dallas and Bobby of Milford; 30 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Billie Chambers of Italy and a brother, Jack Groves of Hillsboro as well as several nieces and nephews.
Boze-Mitchell McKibbin

Mr. Dyer
Sylvester "Syl" Dyer, 78, of Hamilton, died Nov. 4 at Forest Oaks Nursing Home. Funeral services were held Nov. 6 at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Dick Stovall and Chris Frizzel and Burt Butler officiating.
Burial will follow in the new I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Mr. Dyer was born September 8, 1924 at Pittsburgh, Okla., the son of the late Hardy H. and Alice Reading Dyer.
He was married to Deanie May Lewis on Nov. 10, 1950 at Hamilton.
Mr. Dyer was a veteran of Navy serving during World War II. He served the City of Hamilton for 38 years retiring as City Work Supervisor. He served on many volunteer programs and retired from the Hamilton Volunteer Fire Department after many years of service to Hamilton and Hamilton County. He was a member of Park Heights Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Deanie May Lewis Dyer of Hamilton; two children, Randy Dyer of Hamilton and Sylvia Dowell of Lubbock; four grandchildren, Leanne Jackson, Scotty Dyer, Shawna Dyer and Sam Dowell; seven great- grandchildren, two sisters, Rosie Mathis of Colgate, Oklahoma and Virgie Norris of Fort Worth and one brother, A.C. Dyer of Grady, Okla.
He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Pallbearers were Rick Lewis, Mike Lewis, Justin Lewis, Rickey Dyer, Gene Dyer, Mike Dyer, Burl Butler, Rhett Butler and Kent Lemon. Honorary Pallbearers were members of the Hamilton Volunteer Fire Department.

Mrs. Riewe

Adeline Riewe, 97 of Kingsland, died Nov. 9 in Kingsland. Funeral services were conducted Nov. 13 at at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Pflugerville. Pastor Tom Kesselring officiated. Burial was at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
She was born Aug. 9, 1905 in Shive, the daughter of August Wilhelm Rosentreter and Albertine (Bode) Rosentreter. She was married to Rudolph Riewe on March 8, 1924.
Mrs. Riewe was a homemaker and a farmer. For the past several years she lived at Kingsland Hills Care Center. She was of the Lutheran faith and had membership with Immanuel Lutheran Church of Pflugerville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and 12 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her daughters, Leanda Barnett and husband Edwin of Sunrise Beach and Marilyn Kleen and husband Charles of Pflugerville; sons, Louis Riewe and wife Florence of Sunrise Beach, Olaf Riewe and wife Anne of Austin, Herald Riewe and wife Lois and Martin Riewe, all of Pflugerville; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Brian Kleen, Brett Kleen, Nathan Riewe, Ryan Salathe, James Riewe and Keith Riewe. Honorary pallbearer was Nicholas Riewe.

Mr. Jones

Allison Haskell Jones, 71, died Nov. 9 at his home in Hico.
He was born Aug. 15, 1931 in Pueblo, Colo, the son of Ocie Haskell Jones and Della Fern Wright.
Mr. Jones was a car salesman and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a Christian Scientist.
Survivors include his daughter, Allena Setterfield of Garland, two sons, Allison Haskell Jones Jr. of Leonard, Donnie Osborn of Corsicana; a sister, Anita of California and four grandchildren.
