Mrs. Sheldon
Beatrice Adeline Arnold Sheldon 100 passed away at Hamilton Jan. 1, 2003. Funeral services were held Jan. 3 at the Evant Methodist Church with Rev. James Marrs officiating. Burial was at the Hurst Ranch Cemetery at Star, Texas.
Mrs. Sheldon was born February 8, 1902 in the Knox Community of Lampasas County, the daughter of the late Henry and Francis (Fanny) Gholson Arnold.
She was married to Chester Sheldon on Dec. 30, 1917 at the Methodist Parsonage at Moline. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1973.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and great-great- grandmother. She was a member of the Evant Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a son, Leslie Sheldon; grandson, Dwight Sheldon; two sisters and seven brothers.
Survivors include three children and their spouses, Eva and C.L. White of Abilene; Weldon and Virgie Sheldon of Evant; Elbert and Nellie Sheldon of Gatesville; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and one daughter-in-law Letha Sheldon of Evant.
The Leslie Sheldon Scholarship Fund, c/o the First National Bank of Evant or a charity of your choice has been designated for memorials.

Frances Lewis Geske 81 of Hamilton died Dec. 22, 2002 at Hamilton. Graveside funeral services were held Dec. 26 at the Breckenridge City Cemetery, Breckenridge, Texas.
Mrs. Geske was born June 16, 1921 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina the daughter of the late Ormond N. Lewis and Lena Thomas Lewis.
On January 1, 1944 she was married to Everett Edward Geske at Fort Benning, Georgia. He preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 1971.
She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Geske retired from the University of Texas at Arlington after serving twenty years as a secretary. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband and a son Edward Geske.
Survivors include a son, Robert Geske of Burleson; daughter-in-law, Pamela Harrison Geske Moon of Hamilton; six grandchildren, Victoria Geske, Heather Weber and her husband Ty, Robin Geske, Courtney Geske, Matthew Geske, James Geske and his wife Jessica, three great grandchildren Caleb Geske, Calista Geske and Destiny Geske; one sister Ina Fay Davis and her husband Jessie of Columbus, Ga.

Mr. Trammell
Jack Harman Trammell Sr. 91 passed away at Hamilton March 10, 2003. Funeral services were held March 12 at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Keith officiating. Burial followed in the Carlton Cemetery.
Mr. Trammell was born at Pidcoke, Texas January 10, 1912, the son of Osmond Flecther Trammell and Lydia Morrow Trammell.
He was married to Wynama Guest on January 27, 1939 at Stephenville, Texas. She preceded him in death on August 17, 1983. Mr. Trammell was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, farmer and rancher. He was a member of the Olin Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife; a son, Jack H. Trammell Jr.; four sisters, Winnie Rogers, Floy Watkins, Valora Edwards, Jessie Edwards; two brothers, Ernest Trammell and James Trammell.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Pamela Trammell of Hamilton; two grandchildren, Jack Harman (Jay) Trammell III of Brownwood, Dawn Groves of Burleson; one great-granddaughter Amanda Trammell; three sisters, Faye Griggs of Evant, Mildred Edmiston and Marie Pointer both of Hamilton and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were David Pointer, Matt Lees, Bob Raus, Preston Pointer, Don Haile and Hayden Edwards.

Mr. Johnson
Frank M. Johnson 72, of Hamilton died at a Temple hospital Tuesday March 11, 2003. Graveside funeral services were March 14 in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Hamilton with Dr. Jack Riley officiating.
Mr. Johnson was born March 7, 1931 at Hamilton, the son of Johnnie H. and Vera Ann Martin Johnson. He was a graduate of Hamilton High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Animal Husbandry from Texas A & M University in 1952.
He served as Company Commander of A Quarter Master and was a member of the Ross Volunteers. Frank served in the Army where he was a second lieutenant. He was a rancher and stockman, served as director of the Hamilton National Bank and the Perry National Bank, Hamilton Hospital Board and served four terms on the Hamilton School Board.
On July 22, 1952 he was united in marriage to Patricia Painter Johnson at Gatesville.
His parents and a son, John B. Johnson, preceded him in death in 1984.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Johnson of Hamilton; a daughter, Ann Sanders of Lubbock; a grandson, Charles Johnson of Hamilton and a daughter-in-law Mona Gloff.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Miller, Hank Gloff, Rick Fuqua, Tommy Fuqua, Robert Witzsche, Bill Craig, Jim Boatwright.
Honorary pallbearers were James E. Smith, Luther Wood, Brad Corrigan, John E. Pierson, Peary Harrison, Pam Eilers, and Judy Whitt.

Foy Carson 89, died at Hamilton on March 11, 2003. Funeral services where held March 14 in the Riley Funeral Home with burial following in Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Bill Hindman officiating.
Foy Singleton Carson was born June 3, 1913 at Hamilton, the daughter of G.W. and Willie Waddill Singleton.
She was married to W.T. Harlien on October 4, 1933. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1966. On November 16, 1971, Foy married to Leland Carson who preceded her in death on April 1, 1997.
Mrs. Carson was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. She was a retired restaurant owner and operator, known for her cooking; especially her chicken fried steaks. A travel editor for the Fort Worth Star Telegram was so impressed with her restaurant, the Hickory Que, that he featured it in his column and visited there when he was in the area, as did most local residents and many a traveler.
She loved her restaurant and loved to travel, something she did as long as her health permitted. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hamilton.
Survivors include one daughter, Tommie and son-in-law W.O. (Rusty) McCollum of Hamilton; one granddaughter, Lori Renee McCollum of Hamilton; two great- grandchildren, Adrienne Royall and Wesley Royall of Hamilton; two step-children Kent Carson of Chicago, Ill. and Steven Carson of West Virginia and two step-grandchildren Amanda and Ted Carson.
Pallbearers were Bob McFarland, Stan Morgan, Cody Royall, Wayne Walls, Red Williams and Charles Jahns.

Miss Ohnmeiss
Susan Ohnmeiss of Lampasas died on March 11 at Rollins-Brook Hospital after a long battle with cancer. Services were conducted, March 14 at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel.
Miss Ohnmeiss was born December 15, 1948 in Hamilton, the daughter of E.E. (Junior) and Mavis Renken Ohnmeiss of Lampasas.
She lived in Hamilton until 1953 when the family moved to Lampasas. She graduated as valedictorian from Lampasas High School in 1967. After attending Central Texas College in Killeen, Miss Ohnmeiss graduated from Tarleton State University with a major in European history and minor in American history and English. She was recognized as the outstanding history student at Tarleton’s parents’ day in 1971. She returned to Tarleton to become certified in secondary and elementary education. Miss Ohnmeiss taught second grade in Lampasas for 28 years.
Survivors include her parents E.E. (Junior) and Mavis Renken Ohnmeiss of Lampasas; two sisters, Mary Atherton of Gatesville and Dr. Donna D. Ohnmeiss of Plano; one brother, John T. Ohnmeiss of Lampasas; a niece Celia Sellars of Jonesboro; a great-niece Cheyenne Sellars and a great nephew Wyatt of Jonesboro.
Miss Ohnmeiss was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charlie Renken and Winnie Angermann Renken.
Pallbearers were Mickey Edwards, Justin Squyres, Sam Potts, Joel Wayne Sellers, Woody Atherton and G.R. Stifflemire.

Mrs. Jeffries
Ruth E. Jeffries, 101, died at Hamilton March 10, 2003. Graveside funeral services were held March 14 in the Jonesboro Cemetery with Michael Cummings officiating.
She was born December 18, 1901 at Jonesboro, Texas the daughter of the late Marion and Annie Serena Johnson Pearce. She was a long-time public educator, teaching school for many years before her retirement in Pecos and Fort Stockton.
Her husband Bill Jeffries precedes her in death. She is also preceded in death by three children, one dying in infancy and Billie Maxine Johnson and Mary Schmidt as well as by eight siblings.
Survivors include one daughter, Eloise Cummings of Jonesboro; two grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Mrs. Geye
Mary Lou Edmiston Geye, 92, of Hot Springs Village, Ark. died Feb. 7, 2003 at her home.
She was born Jan. 11, 1911 in Flat, the daughter of Clarence and Willie Kearney Edmiston.
She was a retired teacher, having taught last at Gatesville State School for Boys and was a member of Village United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur Raymond Geye of the home; son, Jeff Geye and wife Barbara of Little Rock, Ark.; daughter, Judy Starkey and husband James of Gatesville; brother, Carter and Kearney Edmiston; sisters, Lena Christenson and Blackie Marcum; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Blansit
Archie Blansit, 56, of Hughes Springs, died at his home March 12, 2003.
He was born Aug. 8, 1946, the oldest son of Strong and Juanita Blansit.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Joleene; four children; one grandchild; two brothers, Talmadge and Richard; one sister, Betty; two aunts, Faye Senger and Adine Blansit of Hamilton.
Mr. Jones
Robert Sanders (Bob) Jones was born in Hamilton, Texas, on July 27, 1906, the fifth of eight children born to W.N. (Nels) Jones and Mary Maudine Jones. He spent his childhood on the family farm between Energy and Pottsville, in Hamilton County. He helped on the farm and rode a horse to a one-room school until the age of fourteen, when the family moved to Hamilton.
Mr. Jones died May 29, 2003 at the age of 96.
He graduated from Hamilton High School in 1924. After graduation, he and several of his high school friends spent the summer following the harvest north into Canada. Returning to Hamilton after the harvest, he took a position as a teller at the Hamilton National Bank, which he held until World War II.
In 1932 he was married to Evelyn Cash, the daughter of Georgia (Punkin) and Port Cash. Mr. Jones and Evelyn set up housekeeping on West Boynton Street, surrounded by his parents, brother, sisters, nieces and nephews. They built a one-bedroom house, enjoyed gardening, and gradually expanded and improved the house.
Mr. Jones always loved to be outside. He kept bird dogs and hunted and fished throughout Hamilton County. He and Evelyn, and their friends, Grady and Willie Williams, Tissie and Pete Roach, and Mr. Jones and Nell Sullivan built a cabin on the Leon River where they spent the weekends and fished for catfish. Though everyone was poor during the depression, these young friends had great times that live on through the stories they have told to their children -- Hamilton was a lively place during the Depression.
Mr. Jones served in the Army during World War II. His banking experience kept him Stateside, where he fought “The Battle of the Brazos” as Cashier of Waco Army Air Field. In November of 1942, shortly before Mr. Jones entered the service, Mr. Jones and Evelyn’s daughter Michal was born. Soon after they returned to Hamilton, their son Allan arrived.
In 1946 Mr. Jones joined the Federal Land Bank, where he continued to work until 1973, making farm and ranch loans in Hamilton and Lampasas Counties. Though he had opportunities to move to more responsible positions, Mr. Jones’s roots were in Hamilton, and he and his wife chose to remain there. In addition to helping farmers and ranchers through the Federal Land Bank, Mr. Jones served the community as a city councilman, member of the Lions Club and School Board, and as Chairman of the Board of the First Methodist Church.
Beginning in the 1950’s, Mr. Jones leased small farms and raised cattle near Lamkin, then near Lanham. In 1960, while traveling the country roads to make loans on farms and ranches, Mr. Jones found and purchased “the prettiest piece of land in Hamilton County” in Stanford Valley in southeastern Hamilton County. Mr. and Mrs. Jones spent three decades raising cattle and goats, improving the farm house, clearing brush, fishing, and hunting deer, wild turkey and dove. In the 1990s they gradually turned the farm over to Allan, Michal, and their families and had time to enjoy their grandchildren, Brian, Erin, and Anna, and their first great grandchild, Brian’s son Gage.
Mr. Jones’s last three years were spent in declining health at Hamilton Nursing Home, where he was attended by a caring staff and watched over by Evelyn, his loving wife of seventy years. Mr. Jones loved his family, and he loved life. He always saw the humor and the wonder in the everyday things that most people take for granted. And he taught us to do the same.
Survivors include his wife and two children and a brother, Ervin of Hamilton. He is preceded in death by five sisters and a brother.

Graveside services with military honors for Macario Cruz Sr., 75, of Bryan are set for 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
Arrangements are under the direction of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.
Mr. Cruz died Sunday in St. Joseph Regional Health Center.
He was born in Rosebud, Texas, and lived most of his life in Bryan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Cruz.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Macario Jr. and Deloris Cruz of Bryan and Juan and Janie Cruz of San Antonio; a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Joe Coronado of Bryan; two brothers, Alex Cruz of Bryan and Alfonso Cruz of San Antonio; a sister, Rita Franco of Bryan; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
John Heads Hedge

Services for John Heads Hedge, 84, of Brazos County are set for 11 a.m. Thursday at Peoples Mortuary in Bryan.
The Rev. U.L. Green of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Hedge died Friday in Bryton Inn.
He was a lifelong resident of Brazos County.
He was preceded in death by a son, Artha Heads; and a daughter, Nettie B. Lewis.
Survivors include three sons, John Lee Heads and Fred Douglas Heads, both of Dallas, and Lonnie Heads of Kenedy, Texas; two daughters, Rosie Lee Williams of Bryan and Willie Jean Heads of Brenham; a sister, Annie Mae Nutall of Bryan; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Ross C. Watkins
June 27, 1919 — May 29, 2001
UVALDE — Services for Ross C. Watkins, 81, of Uvalde are set for 10 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Uvalde.
The Rev. Jerry Scott will officiate. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Encinal Cemetery in Encinal, Texas.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rushing-Estes-Knowles Mortuary in Uvalde.
Mr. Watkins died Tuesday.
He was born in Encinal and was a former regent of the Texas A&M University System. He was the retired owner of Watkins Bridge Company and began his career in 1938. He was also a rancher, past director and lifetime member of the Associated General Contractors of Texas, member of the Southwest Texas Cattle Raisers Association and past member of the board of directors of the First State Bank of Uvalde. He served in the U.S. Navy Construction Battalion (Sea Bees) during World War II and achieved the rank of chief petty officer. He was a part of the Normandy D-Day invasion and also served in the South Pacific.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dimples Jenkins Watkins.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Rosselle and Andres Sanchez of Lake Jackson; a sister, Mary Watkins Smith of San Angelo; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

William Robert Donald Jr.

MADISONVILLE — Services for William Robert Donald Jr., 37, of Madisonville are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home in Madisonville.
Lanier Stevens will officiate. Burial will be in Allphin Cemetery.
Mr. Donald died Saturday.
Survivors include his parents, William and Emma Donald; a sister, Nancy Morris; a brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Linda Donald; two nephews and five nieces.
