Gerald R. Lyday
Gerald Ray Lyday, 66, of Woodway, passed away Saturday night, July 26, 2003, at 9:00 p.m. from a heart attack.
SERVICES: Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco with Jane Lovett officiating.
VISITATION: Visitation with the family will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque. A memorial videotape of his life will be shown during the visitation.
DEVOTED TO HIS FAMILY - Gerald was a loving husband and a man devoted to his family. He was a workaholic with a strong desire to be useful. This gave him the ability to spend his life doing a variety of things.
During his lifetime he enjoyed working as an aeronautical engineer. One of his greatest pleasures was taking care of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Larry, and his father, Arthur.
HIS SURVIVORS: He is survived by Fran, his devoted wife of 46 years; Les and Kevin, his sons; Alma, his mother; Sherry, Larry's wife; Stacey, Lisa, Terry, and Wendy, his adoring grandchildren; Brad Wright, Les' partner; Ruth and Jack England, Fran's parents, and Gary England, Fran's brother. He is also survived by Lisa's daughter Lexi and Lexi's father Neal Whiteside, Terry's daughter Lilly and her mother Lindsey Necker, and Wendy's daughter Aiden and her husband Bryan Cox.

Adeline Carol Edwards
Adeline Carol Edwards, 77, of Waco died Friday July 11, 2003 at a local care center. Services will be at a later date in California.
Adeline was born on August 6, 1925 in Benicia, California to Wilhelm and Freidericka (Goering) Pleinis. She was united in marriage to Arthur W. Edwards on September 27, 1944 in Martinez, California.
She is survived by her daughter Linda Reed and husband Ronald; granddaughter, Rhonda Richards and husband Derek all of Waco; grandsons, Gregory Reed and wife Christine of Waco and Jeffery DeDeaux of New Berg, Oregon; great-grandsons, Samuel and Zakary Richards of Waco and Jonathon DeDeaux of New Berg, Oregon.
Adeline was preceded in death by her husband in 1999 and by her son Craig Edwards in 2000.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Joshua Isaiah Norman-Williams
Joshua Isaiah Norman-Williams infant son of Curtis Norman and Aurora Williams was born and died on Monday July 7, 2003 at a local hospital. Graveside services will be 10:00 am Thursday at the Waco Memorial Park.
He is survived by his parents; sisters, Quintanae and Deanna Dillard; brother, Darious Dillard; grandmother, LaVerne Jackson all of Waco.

Paula Lynn White
Paula Lynn White, 32 of Waco died Monday July 7, 2003 at a local hospital. Services will be held at a later date.
Paula was born on July 25, 1970 in Grand Prairie, Texas
She is survived by her husband Wade of Waco; children, Britne and Anthony Kuykendall of Paris, Ark and Nathan Carrion of Arlington; parents, Gary and Terri Power of Magazine, Ark; grandparents, Floyd and Wilma Kuykendall of Paris, Ark; brothers, Stephen Weaver and wife Debbie of Oklahoma City, Ok and Douglas Weaver and wife Regina of Fort Worth; uncle, Tom Kuykendall and wife Kathy of Garland
Paula had a big heart who shared with everyone. She went to heaven to be with the angels.

Edwin Narovec
Edwin (Bubba) Joseph Narovec, 63, of Lorena, passed away early Wednesday morning, July 2, 2003, in the VA Hospital in Temple.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. Louis Catholic Church with Father Marvin Dornak as celebrant.
Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday, July 4, in the OakCrest Funeral Home chapel, 4520 Bosque. Visitation with the family will follow until 9 p.m.
Ed was born January 21, 1940, to Edvin and Minnie (Kotrla) Narovec in Waco, and lived here all of his life. He served in the Army from 1963 to 1968. He worked at Piggly Wiggly Food Store and General Dynamics before going into business for himself operating the Lake Air Texaco for more than 20 years before retiring. He also worked with one of his best friends, John Bivona, at Praco Pawn Shop for several years.
He was a longtime member of St. Louis Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Narovec, who passed away October 1, 1966, and his mother, Minnie Narovec, who passed away October 17, 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Lou Marovec of Lorena; son, Steve Narovec and wife Angel of San Antonio; three sisters, Margaret Narovec, Mary Nell Brookshire, and husband Phelps, and Rose Ann Washburn and husband David, and an aunt, Edith Narovec of Schulenberg.
Pallbearers will be Russell McMahon, James Austin, James Siegert, Brad Betts, Charlie Goodnight, and Matt Ballew.
Honorary pallbearers will be his beloved best friend, the late John Bivona, then Bobby Watson, Floyd Perry, Raymond Helona, Phelps Brookshire, Vern Hines, Dan Graves, John Buchanan, Gary Gobber, and Charlie Goodnight, Sr.

Orba Lee Malone
Orba Lee Malone, 82, a well known attorney and community leader in El Paso and a former Waco resident, passed away Friday, June 27, 2003, in El Paso.
SERVICES: Funeral services will be held Monday morning in El Paso at the First Baptist Church of El Paso. The graveside service at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Oakwood Cemetery in Waco. Dr. Levi Price and Dr. Foy Valentine will officiate.
VISITATION: Visitation will be from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Robert B. Sloan Jr. Teaching Chapel at the George W. Truett Theological Seminary, Third and Dutton Streets, on the Baylor University campus. Services are under the direction of OakCrest Funeral Home of Waco.
PERSONAL / PROFESSIONAL LIFE: Born in Milo in the Texas panhandle on August 2, 1920, he was the oldest male of nine children. He attended Wayland College in Plainview, and graduated from Baylor School of Law in 1942. He married Peggy Pounds on April 23, 1943. She preceded him in death in 1989. He was also preceded in death by his son Paul in 1980.
At 31 years of age, Mr. Malone became the youngest-ever member of the Baylor University Board of Trustees.
He was an early advocate for racial integration and led in Baylor's admittance of the first black student/athlete in the Southwest Conference in 1964.
Mr. Malone, who practiced law in El Paso from 1947 to 1994, served on several boards, including the El Paso Independent School District board and the Child Welfare Board of El Paso County.
He was also a founding director and vice president of the Lee and Beulah Moor Children's Home's board of trustees, which he served on from 1947 to 2003.
"As an original member of the board, his leadership contributed to much of the success of where we are today," said Randy Rankin, president and CEO of the Lee and Beulah Moor Children's Home.
He was a first lieutenant in the Air Force, where he piloted a B-29 on 25 missions to Japan during World War II. In 1963, Malone returned to Japan as a lay preacher as part of a group of Baptist ministers and laymen.
He was extremely active in both Texas and Southern Baptist life, chairing the Christian Life Commission of both the Southern Baptist Convention in 1965 and the Baptist General Convention of Texas in 1967.
SURVIVORS: Survivors include his wife. Lillian McMurry Malone; his children, John Malone of Waco, David Malone of Austin, Carol Lorence of Shreveport, La., and Dan Malone of El Paso, seven brothers and sisters, and 11 grandchildren.
MEMORIALS: Memorials may be made to the Paul Lee Malone Academic Scholarship Fund at Baylor University, % University Development, PO Box 97026, Waco, Texas 76798-97026.

JOHN WILLIAM TADLOCK, SR.
John William Tadlock, Sr., 74, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 22, 2003 at his Waco home surrounded by his loving family.
SERVICES: Services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, at the OakCrest Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Paul Smith and Rev. David Ritsema officiating.
military graveside services will follow in Waco Memorial Park North.
VISITATION: Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque.
A memorial videotape prepared of John's life will be shown during the visitation.
PERSONAL HISTORY: John was born December 19, 1928, in Marlin to Joseph and Sarah Martha (Lemma) Tadlock. John moved to Waco in 1944, and during the Korean War, he served in the Navy for five years.
On May 29, 1953, he married his wife, Jennie Vee, and they just recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
He retired from Owens-Illinois in 1983 after 33 years of service. He was a member of North Waco Baptist Church.
John was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Derwood and Joseph.
SURVIVORS: Survivors include his wife, Jennie Vee Tadlock; son, John W. Tadlock Jr. of Lubbock and his wife Sue; daughter, Cynthia Lynn Watkins of Austin and her husband Kenneth; brother, H.C. Tadlock of Waco and wife Louise; adopted brother, Rowan Wood of Marlin, adopted sister, Bonnie Moore of Houston; grandsons, Tad Robnett of Denver and wife Shannan, and Daniel and Kevin Tadlock, both of Lubbock; granddaughter, Allison Dellinger of Denton and husband George; two great grandsons; three step grandsons; and four step great-grandchildren.
THANKS: The family appreciates the care given by Providence Hospice, especially Tim Dugan, and their fellow church members at North Waco Baptist Church.

Virginia Curtis Walker
Virginia Curtis Walker, 79, a lifelong Waco resident, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2003, at a local nursing home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel with Father Angelo Bertini of St. Mary's Catholic Church officating. Burial will follow in Rosemound Cemetery in Waco. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque.
Virginia was born October 10, 1923 in Waco to Charles and Katherine (Swindell) Curtis. She was a retired self-employed bookkeeper and was a Catholic. Virginia was a member of VFW Post 2148 Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Helen Diane Gregory.
Survivors include a son, Charles Walker and his wife Carolyn Walker of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; brother, George Swindell of Kennedale; sister, Ann Masters of Waco; three grandsons, Danny Ray Walker of Las Vegas, Charles Walker Jr. of Friendswood, and Christopher Walker of Murfreesboro; granddaughter, Tammy Gregory of Waco.

Robert Steinke
Robert E. Steinke, 93, of Mart died Wednesday June 11, 2003 at his residence.
Services will be 2:00 pm Friday, June 13, 2003, at OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. B.J. Williams officiating with burial in the Meiers Settlement Cemetery near Riesel.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at OakCrest Funeral Home at 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Robert was born on August 6, 1909 in Falls County to Emil and Bertha (Lauder) Steinke. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara on August 9, 1992.
He is survived by his daughter Betty Walts and husband James; grandsons, Bradley Walts and special friend Jennifer, Kirk Walts and special friend Amy all of Mart.
Pallbearers will be Leroy Behringer, Robert Stelter, Milford Behringer, Don Seawright, John Nottingham and Lonnie Roy Nottingham.
Special thanks to Dr. Gerard Morroquin, Hillcrest Hospice and Rev. B.J. Williams.
He was a loving father, grandfather and friend.

John Morgan Jr.
John Thomas Morgan, Jr. 77, of Speegleville died Wednesday June 11, 2003 in a local care center.
Graveside Services will be 10:00 am Friday June 13, 2003 at the Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Waco with Rev. Jim Gray officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at OakCrest Funeral Home at 4520 Bosque Blvd.
John was born on December 21, 1925 in Speegleville to John Thomas Morgan and Lula Cornelious (Short) Morgan. He was united in marriage to Billie Margaret Reeves on January 7, 1950 in Waco. He was a member of the Speegleville Methodist Church in Speegleville.
He is survived by his wife Billie; brother, Vernon Lee Morgan and wife Mary of Waco; nieces, nephews and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Merle Morgan Wilkerson and brother, Dennis Leo Morgan.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Royce Wilkerson, Don Reeves, Douglas Reeves, Russell Morgan, Tom Morgan, David Morgan, James Morgan, Donald Custer and Gary Lamb.
Memorials can be made to the Speegleville Methodist Church.

Mary Katherine Carr
Sept. 14, 1908 — May 26, 2001

HEARNE — Graveside services for Mary Katherine Carr, 92, of Hearne are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bryan City Cemetery.

The Rev. Larry Blackmon of the First Baptist Church in Hearne will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Heartfield Funeral Home in Hearne.

Mrs. Carr died Saturday at her home.

She was born in Cameron and lived in Hearne for many years. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Ellen Carr of College Station; a brother, Jack Winslow of College Station; a sister, Johnnie Mae Hein of Hearne; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Robbie L. Aldridge
May 7, 1906 — May 28, 2001

ROCKDALE — Services for Robbie L. Aldridge, 95, of Rockdale are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Dr. Greg Nichols will officiate. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Aldridge died Monday in Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale.

She was born in the Tracy community near Rockdale. She lived in Rockdale 22 years and was a former resident of San Antonio. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Rockdale and was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Aldridge.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and J.L. Ford of San Antonio; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Russell Travis Janner
Nov. 25, 1983 — May 27, 2001

SOMERVILLE — Services for Russell Travis Janner, 17, of Snook are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Snook Brethren Church in Snook.

Burial will be in Independence Cemetery in Washington County.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville and from 9 a.m. to the time of the services Thursday at the church.

Russell died Sunday as the result of an automobile accident near his home.

He was born in Bryan and was a senior at Snook High School, where participated in all sports and was vice president of the Future Farmers of America.

Survivors include his parents, Russell and Katie Janner of Snook; his grandparents, Charles and Kay Janner of Clay and Mary Urban of Dayton; two brothers, Raymond Lawrence Janner and Shea Randall Janner, both of Snook; and numerous great-aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

George Grady Loflin Sr.
Nov. 26, 1923 — May 27, 2001

MADISONVILLE — Services for George Grady Loflin Sr., 77, of Midway are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Madisonville Funeral Home.

The Rev. Michael Berone will officiate. Burial will be in Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., and from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Loflin died Sunday in Madisonville.

He was born in Humble and lived in Madison County 20 years. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and worked for Mosbacher Energy as an oilfield mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Billy June Loflin.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, George Jr. and Kathy Loflin of Dumas; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
