Lucille Freeman Harris Grubb

Lucille Freeman Harris Grubb, 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 19, 2008, at a local nursing home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 20 at Purmela Baptist Church with burial following at Live Oak Cemetery in the Liberty-Ohio Community near Hamilton. The family will receive visitors at Scott’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 21 from 6-8 p.m.
Lucille was born on April 9, 1913 to Walter and Agnes Moore Freeman in Ireland, Texas. She was raised at Purmela where she attended school. After completing school she worked as a housekeeper prior to marrying Audley Harris on August 17, 1940 and settling in Purmela to be a lifelong homemaker and farmer.
She enjoyed outdoor activities, serving as a care giver and was an excellent seamstress, making many quilts for friends and family. Mr. Harris passed away on July 9, 1974. Lucille later married Fred Grubb on Feb. 14, 1984 and he passed away on Dec. 11, 1989.
She was preceded in death by husbands Audley Harris and Fred Grubb; her parents, Walter and Agnes Freeman; brothers, Homer Freeman and James Freeman; and sister, Vella Young.
She is survived by a sister, Ellen Byrom of Austin; sister-in-law, Ruby Freeman of Evant; step-son, Carl Grubb of Evant; step-daughter, Helen Cox of San Antonio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial be made to either Live Oak Cemetery or Purmela Baptist Church.

Bettye Jean Parsley Queen

Bettye Jean Parsley Queen, 75, of Comanche died Friday, May 16, 2008, in the St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in Houston.
Services were held Monday, May 19, at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Comanche with burial in Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche.
Mrs. Queen was born March 25, 1933, in Fort Worth, the daughter of Hansford B. and Lydia Daniels Parsley. Follow-ing high school, she was married to Tom Queen in Mineral Wells on June 15, 1949. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, and had lived in Comanche since 1977.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1979, by her parents, and by two sons, Robert Douglas Queen in 1956 and Ronald W. Queen in 1994.
Survivors include a daugh-ter, Diana Koether and husband Scotty of Hamilton; two brothers, H.B. Parsley Jr. of Houston and Alvin Parsley of Blum; a sister, Billy Erickson of Handley; her special companion, Billy Pat McKinney of Comanche; three grandchildren; one great-grand-child; several nieces, nephews and cousins and a host of friends.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Asso-ciation or American Stroke Association.

Gladys L. Quillen Woods

Gladys L. Quillen Woods, 82, died May 6, 2008.
A memorial was at Rest Haven. A celebration of her life was held May 9 at Bacon Heights Baptist Church in Lubbock.
Mrs. Woods was born on Sept. 5, 1925, in Bryan, the daughter of Archie and Richard (Smith) Quillen.
She graduated from Bryan High School. While working in a defense plant, she met and married William T. Woods Sr. They married June 22, 1945. They moved to Amarillo where they started their family. In 1967 the Woods family transferred to Lubbock where they made their home. Gladys was a founding member of Bacon Heights Baptist Church. She was a wife, mother, Sunday School teacher, depart-ment store manager, grandma, great-grandma, friend, helper and a very special aunt.
Many knew her from Lena Stephens Department Store where she retired after 30 years to travel with her husband. They walked hand in hand for 53 years until his death in 1999.
She was preceded in death by a daughter in 1996, a granddaughter, her parents, three sisters and a brother.
She is survived by a daughter, Gail Faubion and husband Leonard of Hamilton; a son, William T. Woods Jr. of Lubbock; three grandchildren, James Pack of Whitt, Jason Pack and wife Nicole of Katter Bach, Germany, and Brandi Murray of Gatesville; five step-grandchildren of the Metroplex; 13 great-grandchildren; a bro-ther, Ray Quillen and wife Betty of Herford; a sister-in-law, Jean Quillen of Yakima, Wash.; a special friend, Merle Scott of Lubbock; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hodges

Margaret Myrtle Hodges, 95, died August 17, 2002 in Waco. Funeral services were held Aug. 19, at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Collier officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Mills County.
She was born December 23, 1906, in Hamilton, the daughter of Thomas and Betty Phelps Yeager.
She was married to James Abner Hodges on November 16, 1934, in Goldthwaite. He preceded her in death in April of 1994.
Mrs. Hodges was a devoted, loving wife and helpmate to her husband and a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved to garden. She and her husband raised prize-winning vegetables from their garden each year.
She, also, enjoyed being part of the Centex Square Dancing Club. She attended Parkview Baptist Church in Waco.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include her son, James Hodges and his wife Linda; grandson, Darrell Hodges; granddaughter, Robin Honea and great-grandsons Justin Hodges, Jase Hodges and Joshua Honea all of Waco and a brother, Bill Yeager of Goldthwaite.
Pallbearers were Darrel Hodges, Justin Hodges, Billy Honea, Joshua Honea, Benny Walker, and Ronnie Wenzel.

Mrs. Rudolph

Irene Selma Rudolph 89, of Hamilton died Jan. 28, 2003 at Hamilton. Funeral services were held Jan. 30, 2003 at Trinity Lutheran Church at Pottsville with Pastor George Fischler officiating. Burial followed in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at Pottsville.
Mrs. Rudolph was born June 1, 1913 at Nimrod, Texas to Charles and Hulda Ida Nerretting Reich. She was married to George Adolph Rudolph on June 2, 1935 at Carlton. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1971.
Mrs. Rudolph was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked at Patty's of Texas as a seamstress for thirty years. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club and the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include six children and their spouses, Charles George Rudolph and wife Marjorie of Fort Worth, Margaret Marie Maggard and her husband Bob of Arlington, Carolyn Ann Barnard and her husband Harry of Bynum, Clara Ruth Kelley and her husband LeRoy of Arlington, Emmie Lou Weaver and her husband Loren of Itasca and Don Carroll Rudolph and his wife Debbie of Hamilton; ten grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; three sisters, Lillie Bottlinger of Hamilton, Leona Miller of Dublin, Helen Limmer of Priddy; two brothers, Floyd Reich of Whitney and Johnny Reich of Blanket.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandson Stephen Maggard; four brothers, Henry Reich, Charlie Reich, Avil Reich and Gottlieb.
Pallbearers were Robert Reich, Milton Bottlinger, Jerry Miller, Monroe Reich, John Wayne Reich, Gary Schoen, Marvin Schrank, Larry Mack Rudolph & Kenneth Waggener.

Mr. Kitchens

Nolen Earl Kitchens died Jan. 30, 2003 at Hamilton. Funeral services were held Feb. 3 at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Mark Irby and Gene Van Nord officiating. Burial followed in Hill Cemetery at Eulogy.
Mr. Kitchens was born January 10, 1935 at Jackson, Mississippi, the son of Roy Winston Kitchens and Evelyn Lee Kitchens.
He was employed by National Cash Register Company for sixteen years prior to having his own
cash register company and office supply business for nine years. He was employed by B.F.I. where he served as office manager at a number of different locations prior to his retirement in 1994.
He was a member of the Evant Church of Christ where he served as a song leader, something he really loved to do, as long as his health would permit. He was devoted to his church and led his life in a way that set an example for other. He was a caring loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
Survivors include his wife Wanda Fay Kitchens of Hamilton; four children, Gordon Farrell Kitchens and Rhonda Coleene Kindrick, both of Hamilton, Kevin Randall Kitchens of Alvarado and Allan Everette Kitchens of LaMark; seventeen grandchildren; two great- grandchildren and one sister, Violet Beard of McComb, Ill.
Pallbearers were Gene Payne, Jack Wall, Jeramy Kitchens, Cory Carlson, Josh Carlson, Sam Garcia.

Mr. Abbott

Tivis Rebel Abbott Jr., 76 of Hamilton, died in the Olin E. Teague Veteran Memorial Hospital in Temple Feb. 2, 2003. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday February 5, 2003 at the Riley Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Townsend officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Eastlawn Memorial Park at Early, military honors provided by Dyess Air Force Honor Guard.
Mr. Abbott was born December 29, 1926 at Stanton, Texas, the son of Tivis R. Abbott Sr. and Sarah Myrtle Hovey Abbott. He graduated from Galena High School in 1945 and continued his education at McMurray College in Abilene, Texas, University of Alaska, Anchorage, Midwestern, Wichita Falls, Texas and NESU Tahlequah.
He served his country in the Army Air Corp and the Air Force retiring from the Air Force after serving twenty-four years. He was an instructor, teaching teachers to teach. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He was united married to Wanda Jean Smith July 6, 1951. She preceded him in death on June 6, 1991. On April 2, 1994 he married Edith Johnson.
Survivors include his wife of Hamilton; three children, Rebel Abbott III of Muskogee, Okla, Ann Myra and her husband Steve of Belton and Stan Thomas and his wife Joyce of Itasca; four sisters, Henry Beth Hogg of Sanderson, Matilda Treadway of Hamilton, Minnie Inez Jones of Hamilton and Mamie Lee Harris of Fort Stockton; a sister-in-law Pat Gay and her husband Bob of Granbury; brother-in-law J.W. Smith and his wife Lucy of Katy and by a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Coalson

Ramona Belle (Kinsey), 93, died Feb. 2, 2003. Funeral services will be held Feb. 6 at Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Hamilton with her great-nephew Brad Helbert officiating. Burial will follow in Pottsville Memorial Cemetery..
Mrs. Coalson was born Dec. 11, 1909, the daughter of William and Tennie Kinsey. She attended local schools, graduating from Hamilton High School in 1928. She attended Tarleton College and later taught school in Shive.
She was married to James Conley Coalson on March 20, 1931. He preceded her in death on Feb. 11, 1974.
Mrs. Coalson retired from teaching in May 1976, briefly working in Dallas school lunchrooms.
After the death of her husband, Mrs. Coalson moved to the Pleasant Grove area of Dallas where she lived until August, 2001 when she moved to Silver Leaves Nursing Home in Garland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her son, James Carrol Coalson and wife Virginia of Dallas; a daughter, Billie Frances Northcut and husband Bill of Abernathy; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hurst

Eddie Wayne Hurst, 58, of Hamilton and former longtime resident of Lewisville, died Jan. 30, 2003 in Monroe, La. Funeral services were held Feb. 3 at the First United Methodist Church in Lewisville with burial in Old Hall Cemetery. Rev. Paul Sackett officiated at the service.
He was born Aug. 4, 1944 in Denton, the son of James Henry and Ruby Wilson Hurst. He owned Hurst Insurance Agency in Lewisville for many years.
Mr. Hurst was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Harold Hurst.
Survivors include his nephew, Joey Wayne Hurst; nieces, Daphne Hurst and J’Lane Hurst and a sister-in-law, Naoma Hurst.
The family requests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association.

Mrs. Clapper

Maude Clapper, 94, died Feb. 1, 2001 in Clifton. Funeral services were held Feb. 4 at Scott’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Pat Dietrich officiating. Burial was in the Gatesville City Cemetery.
She was born Nov. 15, 1908 in Gatesville, the daughter of E.J. and Juanita (Jones) Morgan. Mrs. Clapper was reared and attended schools in Evant.
She was married to Nobel Horce (Jack) Clapper on Nov. 16, 1929. The couple farmed and ranched in the Hamilton area for more than 30 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Pecan Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Clapper preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 1989.
She is also preceded in death by a sister, Vertis Turner and a grandson, Ron Wells.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Wells and husband Neal of Waco; a sister, Annette Lary of Arlington; two brothers, J.P. Morgan of Gatesville and Curtis Morgan of Dallas; a granddaughter Bonnie Lina and husband Ray of Lorena and a great-granddaughter, Kelsey Lina of Lorena.
