Mrs. Tully

Ora Rosalee Newton Tully, 96, died at Hamilton on Oct. 17, 2003. Funeral services were held Oct. 19 at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Dick Stovall officiating. Burial followedin the Pottsville Public Cemetery.
Mrs. Tully was born November 16, 1906 at McGirk, the daughter of Nira N. N. Newton and Rozena Hiller Newton.
She was married to Alvin Otis Tully on April 25, 1926. He preceded her in death on November 8, 1985. Mrs. Tully was a devoted wife, helpmate to her husband, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to bake. She was an active member of Park Heights Church of Christ as long as her health permitted.
She is preceded in death by her husband; one son, Travis Wayne Tully; one daughter, Elverba LaRue Sommerfeld; her parents; two sisters; two brothers and one son-in-law, Desmond Luckie.
Survivors include three children, Myrna Dale O’Neal and her husband M.C. of Priddy, Rita Fawn Luckie of Oglesby and Peggy Loraine Menzdorf and her husband Gene of Fort Worth; nine great grandchildren; 23 great-grand-children; 20 great-great-grand-children; two sisters, Zelma Harper and Ida Oustad, both of Munday; four brothers, Vester Newton of Fort Worth, Kara Newton of Marble Falls, Laymon Newton of Rochester and Weldon Newton of Abilene.
Pallbearers: Ron Lucas, Jerry O’Neal, Glen Menzdorf, Steve Lucas, Mark Luckie and Billy Mack O’Neal.

Mr. Heptner

Wilbert Lee Heptner, 68, of Burkburnett, died Oct. 14, 2003 at a hospital in Wichita Falls. Funeral services were held Oct. 17 at Grace Lutheran Church, Burkburnett with Pastor Tim Kohlmeier of Grace Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial was in Burkburnett Cemetery under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home.
Mr. Heptner was born Feb. 11, 1935 in Pottsville. He was married to Averial Joyce Zimmerman on April 30, 1957. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1977 after 20 years of service. He worked for Seimens-Allis Corp. for 14 years. He was amember of Grace Lutheran Church of Burkburnett, the Ameri-can Legion and AARP.
Mr. Heptner was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was well known for his love of the Dallas Cowboys.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Erwin Heptner in 2001.
Survivors include his wife, Averial Joyce Heptner of Burkburnett; a son, Curtis Heptner and wife Kim of Burkburnett; a daughter, Cheryl Brown and husband Steve of Randlett, Okla.; two brothers, Walter Heptner of Smithville and Milton Heptner of Lockhart; six sisters, Elsa Senger of Goldthwaite; Elfreida Scott of Gainesville; Ida Sommerfeld, Meta Sommerfeld and Gertrude Schrank, all of Hamilton and Annie Garrett of Bryan; four grandchildren, Ryan and Lacy Heptner and Peyton and Parker Brown.
The family suggests memorials to Grace Lutheran Church, 309 N. Ave. E. Burkburnett, TX 76354.

Mr. Stubbs

Emil Tyson (E. T.) Stubbs, 68, died Oct. 20, 2003 in a Waco hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 24 at Woodway First United Methodist Church with Dr. Jeff Smith and Dr. Bill Austin officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North.
Mr. Stubbs was born Feb. 9, 1935 in Hamilton County, the son of James Clifford and Hilma (Enger) Stubbs. He was christened and confirmed at St. Olafs Lutheran Church in Cranfills Gap, Texas where he spent his youth. He graduated from high school in 1953.
Mr. Stubbs served in the United States Army and attended Texas A&M University. He worked in the Waco office of the Texas Farm Bureau for more than 21 years where he met his wife. He married Dorothy Feller on October 14, 1960 in Waco.
He moved to Giddings, Texas in 1980 and served as General Manager for Giddings Petroleum Corporation until his retirement in early 2001, when he returned to the Waco area.
Mr. Stubbs was an active member of the Robinson Drive Methodist Church serving on the administrative board. He was later a member of the United Methodist Church in Giddings, again serving on the administrative board.
While in Giddings he was active in the community serving for three years as a director of the Giddings Chamber of Commerce, with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and as a member of the Noon Lions Club. He also served on the advisory board of the Giddings State School. Upon returning to Waco he became a member of the Woodway First United Methodist Church enjoying the company of other members of the OWLS organization.
Mr. Stubbs was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; stepmother, Rachel (Bonner) Stubbs; brothers, Leo Carroll, Gene Felix and John Clinton Stubbs and sister Elnora Estelle Burns.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Dorothy Stubbs of McGregor; sons, Jeffrey Scott and wife Danna Stubbs of Headland, Alabama; Barry Glenn and wife Wendy Stubbs of Huntsville; daughters, Terri Deanne and husband Johnny Taylor of Lorena; and Linda Carol Stubbs of Spring; grandchildren, Christopher and Deanna Stubbs, Jessica and Tyson Taylor, and Dylan and Morgan Stubbs; brothers, Charles and wife Gloria Stubbs of Livingston; James and wife Barbara Stubbs of West Columbia; sisters, Betty Haven of Garland, and Sarah and husband Robert Gohlke of Gatesville; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws, as well as loving friends too numerous to count.

Mr. Meissner

Ray Meissner, 60, died at his home in Evant Feb. 11, 2004. Funeral services were held Feb. 13 at St. Pauls’ Lutheran Church at Aleman with Pastor Wilbert Sohns officiating. Burial was in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.
Mr. Meissner was born January 1, 1944 at Hamilton, the son of Henry Edwin Meissner and Frieda Hulda Krueger Meissner.
He worked for the Rainbo Bread Company as a route representative for 26 years. Later he operated Ray Meissner Lawn and Ground Maintenance and for the past two years served as a substitute mail carrier. He had recently been awarded a contract mail route with the Postal Service.
He was married to Yvonne Gummelt on Dec. 29, 1990.
He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers one dying in infancy and Halbert Gene Meissner.
He is survived by his wife; his mother Frieda Krueger Meissner of Hamilton; five children Brenda Ann Armstrong and Travis Meissner, both of Hamilton, Toby Lloyd Glosson of Dripping Springs, Gary Dale Glosson of Austin, Tavia Dawn Glosson of Evant; nine grandchildren; one sister Mavis Drueckhammer of Priddy and two very close relatives that he viewed as brother and sister, Lloyd and Janice Melde of Blue Ridge.
Pallbearers were Toby Glosson, Gary Glosson, Martin Seider, James Sommerfeld, Jeff Rice, Stephen Melde, Darrell Melde and Sam Gummelt.
The family has designated CCS Hospice of Dublin and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church for memorials.

Mrs. Pilgrim

Josephine “Jo” Pilgrim, 87, of Lorena died Feb. 11, 2004 in a local hospital. Funeral services were held Feb. 14 at the First Baptist Church of Lorena with Rev. Daniel Downey officiating. Burial followed at Waco Memorial Park.
Mrs. Pilgrim was born July 10, 1916 near Taylor, the daughter of Henry and Mary Bredemeyer. She was married to Walter Lee Pilgrim on Sept. 23, 1934 in Pumphrey.
She became a licensed vocational nurse when she was 54 years old and worked in Whitney and Hamilton hospitals until her retirement in 1983.
Mrs. Pilgrim was a kind and generous lady who loved to have fun. She enjoyed traveling, looking at family photographs and playing Rummikub.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years; her daughter, Sue Kauitzseh; her parents; three brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include daughters, Melba Kemp and husband Ira Lee of Loren and Judy Bass and husband Milton of Burleson; grandchildren, Randy Kemp and wife Janet of Salado; Rick Kemp of Dallas; Barry Bass of Burleson; Melissa Bass Frazier and husband Brad of Burleson; Steve Kauitzsch and wife Pecca of El Paso and Dona Kauitzsch Yates and husband Greg of Rowlett; great-grandchildren, Travis and Haley Kemp; Alex Bass; Danielle and Brady Frazier; Collin Kauitzsch and Lauren and Michael Yates; son-in-law, Michael Kauitzsch and wife Kellie of Sunnyvale; sister, Evelyn Brannan and husband Ray of Odessa as well as many devoted friends, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Ron Bredemeyer, Bill Hood, Don Nichols, John Barton, Bill Jones and Rusty Walker.

Mr. Elam

Arthur Douglas Elam, 81, died Feb. 12, 2004 at Seattle, Wash. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday Feb. 20 at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Hamilton with Rev. Ed Wright officiating. Burial will be in the Gentry’s Mill Cemetery.
Mr. Elam was born June 25, 1923 at Marlow, Okla., the son of David Elam and Frankie Owen Elam. He was a World War II veteran, serving his county in the Navy.
He retired after working in the steel mills as a crane operator. After his retirement he lived in Hamilton for a number of years prior to moving to Seattle to be near his daughter.
Mr. Elam was a member of the Littleville Baptist Church and the American Legion Post # 40 at Seattle.
Survivors include three daughters, Gloria D. Jackson of Seattle; Lorri Diffenbach and her husband Bob of Maeno Valley, Calif. and Beverly Elam of Permosa Beach, Calif.; two grandchildren, Kerri Jackson Thorp and Manuel Santisteven; three sisters, Jewell Bennett and Loucille Holley, both of Hamilton and Edna King of Eufala, Okla.; three brothers, Leonard Elam of Lakeside, Calif., Larry Elam of Modesto, Calif. and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother George Elam.

Mr. Harris

Bomer Britton Harris died Feb. 16, 2004. Funeral services will be in the Riley Funeral Home Chapel, at 10 a.m. Saturday Feb. 21. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mr. Harris was born in Roaring Springs on Aug. 20, 1917, the son of George and Vera Jones Harris. He attended Harrold High School and graduated from Texas A&M in 1939.
On Nov. 28, 1940 he was married to Emma Frances Seay at Harrold. He graduated from Chiropractic School and practiced chiropractory from 1940-1942.
He joined the Soil Conservation Service in 1942 and retired after 31 years of service.
Mr. Harris then worked for the First National Bank of Hamilton for many years. His service to the Lord included the First Baptist Church of Quanah and the First Baptist Church of Hamilton. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife of Hamilton; three daughters, Janice Bidigare and husband Richard of Hamilton, Mich.; Kay Christiansen and husband Chris of Hurst; Joyce Villarreal and husband George of Houston; five grandchildren, Scott Bidigare, Michele Burkett, Wendi Kornegay, Amy Wood and Josh Wood; six great grandchildren and a brother Ivan Harris of Fort Worth.
Pallbearers will be Richard Bidigare, George Villarreal, Chris Christiansen, Don Gromatzky, Josh Wood and Robin Thomas.
The family has designated the Alzheimers Association for memorials.

Mr. Tabers

John Tabers, 53, died Feb. 14, 2004 in his home in Whitney. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Tabers was born Oct. 6, 1950 in Gatesville.
He worked for Hamilton HealthCare for 20 years and was a loving and caring person.
Survivors include his mother, Carrie Tabers of Whitney; a daughter Melanee Keleman; two granddaughters, Tori and Tiffani and two brothers, Charles and Tommy Tabers and two sisters, Sue Ray and Linda Martinets.

Mrs. Cook

Leona Beall Cook, 91, died April 27, 2004 at Hamilton. Funeral services were held April 30 at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Farris and Rev. Ed Wright officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Cook was born August 14, 1912 at Big Springs. She was the daughter of Sebastian Beall and Ada Jerome Conger Beall.
While attending Sul Ross University at Alpine she met and married Ruel R. Cook on Nov. 6, 1932. He preceded her in death on May 24, 1995. They lived on the border of Texas where her husband taught school. When Mr. Cook entered the ministry, they moved to California where they started churches.
Moving to North Dakota in 1958, they worked in the mission field starting new churches there and in Utah.
Upon retirement they moved to Hamilton where Mr. and Mrs. Cook continued to minister to the community. At all times she stood by her husband, loving and supporting his work along with raising a family. They were an inspiration to all that knew them. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her husband; a son Harvey Beall Cook; four sisters, Jesse Raehmer, Polly Simms, Wanda Sewell and Dora Redman, and one brother Eugene Beall.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Sheryl Lee and Rev. John Farris of Hamilton; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Foster Wilcox, Rab Fuqua, Dennis Robinson, Tim Thornton, Dough Barkley, Danny Craig, David Bates and Bill Massingale.

Mrs. Davis

Reacie Dell Richardson Davis, 97, died April 28, 2004 at Hamilton. Memorial services are pending.
She was born April 7, 1907 at Ireland, the daughter of John Haven Richardson and Betty Jane Johnson Richardson.
She is preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers.
Survivors include a sister Winnie York of Hamilton and by a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

Mr. Anders

Melvin (Mel) Ray Anders, 66, died April 27, 2004 at an Abilene hospital.
Mr. Anders was born June 8, 1937 at Odessa, the son of James Monroe Anders and Georgia Gibbins Anders. He was a retired oil field drilling consultant.
He was married to Juanita Martha Seider on May 1, 1983 at Gustine.
Survivors include his wife of Dublin; five children, Terri Wallace of Bowie, Tammie Miller of Bowie, Tracy Birkett of Stanford, Conn., Donnie Jones of McKinney and Keisha Jones of Dallas; 11 grandchildren and one sister Doro-thy Bruno of Whitney.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Joyce Anders and one brother, Jim Anders.

Mr. Paulson
Chris M. Paulson Jr., 81, of Cranfills Gap, died May 21 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple after a long illness. Funeral services were held May 24 in the St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Cranfills Gap with Rev. Terry Atkins officiating. Burial was in St. Olaf (Rock Church) Cemetery.
Mr. Paulson was born Dec. 20, 1923 in Ballinger, the son of Chris M. and Pearl West Paulson. He attended school in Harmony and later in Cranfills Gap where he graduated.
Mr. Paulson attended col-lege in Goodwill, Okla. and Denver, Colo. before enlisting in the U.S. military. He was employed with Phillips Petro-leum, Convair and later Gen-eral Dynamics.
He was married to Mary Ruth Paulson on Feb. 4, 1949 in Fort Worth where the couple lived for 10 years before return-ing to Cranfills Gap.
Mr. Paulson was an expert cabinet maker and operated his Hillside Cabinet Shop for many years until his health began to fail. He loved to play the guitar and for some 25 years, he and others played and entertained residents in local nursing homes and towns.
He was baptized and con-firmed at Oslo Lutheran Church in Gruver and was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife of Cranfills Gap; a daughter, Christi Darlene Nations and husband David of Granbury; sons, Michael L. Paulson of Hamilton, Stephen R. Paulson of Belton and Randy Paulson and wife Laurie of Cranfills Gap; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Gene Paulson and wife Mary of Burleson; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, William Bryan Paulson and a sister, Bernice Turner.
Pallbearers were Will Paul-son, Ricky Paulson, Glenn Lee, John Paulson, Matthew Nations and Christopher Paulson.

Mrs. Harrington
Kimberly Ann Harrington, 35, of Oglesby, died May 21 at a Temple hospital Funeral ser-vices were held May 25 at Gatesville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Aaron Tyler officiating. Burial followed at the Smith King Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Rachel Harrington of Longview; a son, Samuel Gon-zales of Oglesby; her mother, Polly Rohuts of Cranfills Gap; her father, John Harrington and wife Phea of Flat; her fiancé, Bill Aguillar of Oglesby and a granddaughter, Rylie Wa-clawczyk of Longview.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Oglesby or to the Harrington Family Trust Fund, C/O First Baptist Church of Oglesby.

Mr. Stanford
Selvin Keith Stanford, 88, of North Richland Hills, died May 9 at a Bedford hospital. Funeral services were held May 12 at Mount Olivet Chapel in Fort Worth. Burial was in Bluebon-net Hills Memorial Park.
He was born Jan 26, 1917 in Hamilton County, the son of Richard Hiram Stanford and Edna Pearl Sayles. He was mar-ried to MayBelle Sharp, daugh-ter of William Henry Sharp and Ida May Ward on March 2, 1935 in Hamilton County.
Mr. Stanford was devoted to his family, a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He re-tired from Birdville School District.
He was preceded in death by his wife and a grandson, Les Griffin.
Survivors include his daugh-ter, Maudine Griffin and hus-band Eddie of Fort Worth; Sandy Stanford of North Rich-land Hills; sisters, Martha Clements, Dru Williams and Jean Gordon; granddaughter, Laura Pope of Corinth, Cathy Griffin of North Richland Hills; five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ellis
Elsie Lee Griggs Ellis died May 28, 2005 in Hamilton, Texas. Funeral services were held May 31 at Riley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ellis was born on Sep-tember 15, 1906 in Youngsport, the daughter of Charlie and Julia Griggs of Belton. She was known to many as Aunt Bobbie or Mimi.
She served the community in many capacities. She was head cook at the Hamilton School District for twenty-seven years and cooked at Hur-ley’s Nursing Home during the summer months.
In addition, she served the community in the nursery at the First Baptist Church.
She enjoyed quilting, cook-ing and spending time with her family.
Ms. Ellis was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers and a sister.
Survivors include her daughter, Gwen Wallace; three grandsons, Donnie, Michael and Larry Wallace; her great- grandchildren, Monica An-drews, Misty Gann, Michelle Neal, Bradley Wallace, Marissa Wallace, Jaime Wallace and Jordan Wallace; great-great-grandchildren: Kasidee Wallace and Elijah Neal.
