Brueck

WOODVILLE - Gwen A. Brueck, 95, of Woodville, died Sunday, March 4, 2001 in a Tyler County hospital.

Mrs. Brueck was the mother of Dorothy Morgan of Mount Pleasant.

Mrs. Brueck a native of Jennings, LA. She and her husband of over 50 years, W.L. Brueck, Sr. retired to Woodville in 1964. She resided at The Orchard, an assisted living community in Woodville, for the past year and a half. Mrs. Brueck was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Garden Club and the First Baptist Church of Woodville. She was a Sunday School teacher, W.M.U. and training union leader. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her daughter Dorothy Morgan of Mount Pleasant; son W.L. Brueck Jr. of Kingwood; sister Mildred Smith of The Orchard in Woodville; grandchildren Britt Morgan of Arlington; Tessa Siegel of Los Angeles, Calif., William Brueck, Mike Brueck, Terry Cowan of Baytown, Tracy Solomon of New York; three great-granddaughters; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1975; two sisters; one brother.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 6 at Riley Funeral Home in Woodville. Interment was in Magnolia Cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandsons and her nephew.

Carpenter

OMAHA - Kelly Carpenter, 66, of Omaha, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001 in Texarkana.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 23 at Concord Baptist Church. The Revs. Nolan Richey, Glen Griffith and Glen Moore officiated. Interment was in Concord Cemetery under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home.

Mr. Carpenter was born Jan. 28, 1935 in Omaha. He was a retired employee of Red River Army Depot, a member of the Concord Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Omaha.

He is survived by his wife Carol Higgins Carpenter of Omaha; sons and daughters-in-law Floyd and Vanessa Carpenter of Gilmer, Lance and Katy Carpenter of Omaha; grandchildren Brittany Carpenter, Christopher Carpenter, Olivia Carpenter, all of Gilmer, Zachary Carpenter of Omaha; brothers Velta C. Carpenter of Cookville, James M. Carpenter of Naples, Charles L. Carpenter of Minneapolis, Minn.; sisters Maxine Keene of Omaha, Pauline Barfield of New Boston; numerous nieces and nephews.

Easter

Mary Ellen Easter, 81, of Mount Pleasant, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001 in Mount Pleasant.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24 at Bates-Cooper Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Randall Easter and Bro. Billy Easter Jr. will officiate. Interment will be in Masonic Cemetery in Mount Pleasant. Pallbearers were Jeff Easter, Kenny Easter Jr., Bob Easter, David Easter, Paul Easter Jr., Leroy Rojas, Kevin David and Barry Jones.

Mrs. Easter was born Nov. 11, 1919 in Odessa, Mo. She was a member of East New Hope Baptist Church and a homemaker.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law William R. and Betty Easter of Cherokee, Ala., Paul and Linda Easter of Mount Pleasant; daughter-in-law Carolyn Easter of Palacios; sisters Pearl Kindle of Mount Pleasant, Nonie Acker of Cleveland, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents Roy Alcorn and Hallie L. Fulton Alcorn; husband William Eldo Easter; son Kenneth E. Easter; brother Leroy Alcorn; great-grandchild Baby Lee Rojas.

Fleming

Gentle Lee Fleming, 75, of Mount Pleasant, died Sunday, March 18, 2001 at IHS Nursing Home in Mount Pleasant.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24 at Sheppard Street Church of Christ. Bro. T.C. Jones will officiate. Interment will be in Reynolds Cemetery in Daingerfield under the direction of Tumey Mortuary.

Mr. Fleming was born July 20, 1925 in Daingerfield, the son of Gentle Fleming and Hattie (Traylor) Fleming. He was a retired employee of Dorchester Refinery and an Army Veteran of WWII He was affiliated with Sheppard Street Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife Eslene Fleming of Mount Pleasant; daughters and sons-in-law Geraldine and Michael Bolden of Mount Pleasant, Ruthetta and Markus Jackson of Las Vegas, Nev., Tawana Fleming of Dallas, Teresa Fleming of San Bernadino, Calif.; sons and daughters-in-law Jimmy and Sandra Fleming of Mount Pleasant, Lee Jr. and Elizabeth Fleming of San Bernadino, Calif., Jason and Saprina Fleming of Riverside, Calif., Earnest and Wanda Fleming of Nashville, Tenn., Rickey Lee and Annette Fleming of Mount Pleasant, Larry Fleming and James Paul Fleming, both of San Bernadino, Calif., Leon Fleming of Mount Pleasant; brothers and sister-in-law Lury and Alma Fleming of Mount Pleasant, Rufus Fleming of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughter-in-law Nellie Fleming of Dallas; 36 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, friends; special friends Christene Lewis of Mount Pleasant, Leroy and Vicky Maxtion of Texarkana. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Jr. Fleming; daughter Joyce Washington; four other children; five grandchildren; one brother; three sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Gentle Lee Fleming to the Cypress Basin Hospice in Mount Pleasant.

Hawkins

PITTSBURG - Isabelle Hawkins, 79, of Pittsburg, died Sunday, March 25, 2001 at Moore’s Nursing Home in Pittsburg.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 26 at Siloam Baptist Church in Siloam. The Rev. John Watts officiated. Interment was in Sand Hill Cemetery in Siloam under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home in Pittsburg. Pallbearers were Garvis King Jr., James Young, Jr., Wayne Beckham, Roger Daniel, Roger Hawkins, Terry Tidwell and J.E. Barnes.

Mrs. Hawkins was born Jan. 23, 1922 in Simms. She was affiliated with Siloam Baptist Church and was a housewife and mother.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Carroll and Verna Hawkins of Pittsburg; brothers Mayo Daniel of Simms, Everett Venoy Daniel of Daingerfield; sisters Gladys Jordan of Boyd, Iva Nell Tidwell of Simms, Virginia Inez McKinney of Dallas, Nira Joy McCollough of Mansfield, Mary Ann Nagel of Coppell; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Pat Hawkins, who died March 25, 1998; parents Everett and Mattie Mae Johnson Daniel; son Kenneth Hawkins; daughter Linda Mae Hawkins; granddaughter Nathsha King.

Jenkins

NAPLES - Bill Jenkins, 60, of Naples, died Thursday, March 22, 2001 in Austin.

Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, March 26 at Oakridge Cemetery under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home. The Rev. Ike Thompson officiated.

Mr. Jenkins was born Jan. 16, 1941 in Commerce. He was a sheet metal worker and a longtime resident of Naples.

He is survived by his wife Louise Jenkins of Naples; sons and daughter-in-law B.J. and Rosemary Jenkins of Elgin, Kenny Jenkins of Pittsburg; father Hershel Jenkins of Naples; step-sons Cory Colvin, Casey Colvin, both of Austin; step-daughter Nicole Jennings of Naples; four grandchildren.

Little

GREENVILLE - Lawrence F. Little, 79, of Greenville, died Thursday, March 22, 2001 in Greenville.

Funeral services were held be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24 at Harvey Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Vernon. Roger Ratliff officiated. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were be Mr Little’s family.

Mr. Little was born May 22, 1921 in Bell County, the son of Wesley M. Little and Flossie Smith. He was a member of local 745 Teamsters Union.

He is survived by his step-daughter Rhonalda Gay of Greenville; brother Rex Doyle Little of O’Donnell; grandchildren Lori Jean Little of Irving, Nathan Gay of Greenville, Cody Summers of Wylie, Jammie Cook of Virginia; great-grandson Austyn Cook of Virginia.

Norris

Clara Pat Norris, 90, of Mount Pleasant, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001 at Medical Center in Terrell.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24 at Bates-Cooper Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Don Kearby officiated. Interment was in Nevills Chapel Cemetery in Mount Pleasant. Pallbearers were Buddy Davis, Dale Hensley, Robert Hensley, Robert Whitney and Tim Orr.

Mrs. Norris was born Dec. 8, 1910. She was the owner of an antique shop.

She is survived by her sons Bobby Huggins of Louisville, Ky., Don Huggins of Mesquite; daughter Rose Hensley of Dallas; sisters Mildred Davis and Myrtle Horton, both of Mount Pleasant, Billie Bradshaw of Terrell; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents Don Gober and Ola Adams Gober; husband Wallace Norris.

Perkins

TYLER - Eunice Irene Perkins, 93, of Tyler, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001 at East Texas Medical Center.

Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 23 at Masonic Cemetery in Mount Pleasant under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler. Gene Davenport officiated.

Miss Perkins was born Jan. 4, 1908 in Mount Pleasant. She was a retired school teacher for the Tyler Independent School District where she taught for 18 years, and she taught in the Mount Pleasant Independent School District for 27 years. She received a bachelor of science degree and a master’s degree from East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce. Miss Perkins lived in Tyler for 45 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tyler.

She is survived by her sister Docia Perkins of Tyler; nieces Vera Wofford of Midlothian, Doris Allen of Lake Jackson; nephews Richard Raney of Midland, Donald Raney of Parker; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Leonard Deck and Bertha Mae Perkins; one sister; two brothers.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Missions, 301 W. Ferguson Street, Tyler, TX 75702.

Pike

Ludie Alma Redfearn Pike, 95, of Mount Pleasant died Thursday, March 22, 2001 at Currey Nursing Home.

Graveside services were held at 2 p. m. on Tuesday, March 27 at Winfield Cemetery. Officiating was the Rev. Mark Woodward .

Born July 26, 1905 in Titus County, Mrs. Pike was the daughter of Julian T. and Lenora Garretson Redfearn. She was a member of the Tennison Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, John and Wanda Pike of Mount Pleasant and Ray R. and Bette Pike of Rockport; sister, Letha and Hubert Gill of Mount Pleasant; grandchildren, Rae Ann Wresssel, John K. Sievert, John K. Pike, Jeri S. Manjarris, Joel R. Pike, Bill C. Pike , Bea J. Reynolds and Michael Denson; 11 grandchildren, Gail Bozeman, special friend and caretaker and many friends at Currey Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Q. Pike; a daughter, Jerry A. Sievert and brothers, Earl, Urban, Aubrey, Bill, and twin borthr Alvis Redfearn.

Powell

CHESAPEAKE, Va. -- Irene Elizabeth Powell, 85, of Chesapeake, Va., died Thursday, March 22, 2001 in Chesapeake, Va.

Mrs. Powell was the mother of David Powell of Mount Pleasant.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 27 at Masonic Cemetery in Mount Pleasant under the direction of Curry-Welborn Funeral Home. Mike Kessler officiate.

Mrs. Powell was born Jan. 4, 1916 in Hunnewell, Mo., the daughter of Ira Bennett Stimpson and Hattie Elizabeth Chapman. She attended Hannibal Lagrange College and Kirksville College of Osteopathy and Surgery. She assisted in the war effort with the American Red Cross. She was a nurse.

She is survived by her sons Walter Powell of Modesto, Calif., Larry Powell of Quincy, Ill., David Powell of Mount Pleasant; daughters Angela Hurst of Garland; friend Lois Burns of Mount Pleasant; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Powell; daughter-in-law Virginia Powell; brother Benjamin Lee Stimpson.
