Devane

FLORIDA - Donald G. Devane of Florida died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001.

Mr. Devane is the father of Mount Pleasant resident Dale Devane.

He is survived by three sons,Danny, Dale and DeWayne; daughter, Denise, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Interment was to be in Plant City, Fla.

Easterly

Ruth Pope Easterly, 89, of Mount Pleasant died Friday, Jan 4, 2002 at Gracywood Nursing Home in Austin.

Services were at 10 a. m. on Monday, Jan. 7 at Bates-Cooper Chapel. Officiating was Dr. Clint Davis . Interment was in Forest Law Memorial Park.

A homemaker, Mrs. Easterly loved to sew and work in her garden. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Joanna and Tom Hoffman of Austin; James A. Easterly of Mount Pleasant and grandchildren, Mark and Andrew Hoffman of Austin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe A. Easterly in 1979; a brother, Norris Pope and a sister, Mildred Pope.

Fain

Patricia Ann Logan Fain, 62, ofMount Pleasant died Friday, Dec. 28, 2001 in Mount Pleasant.

Services were held at 2 p. m. on Sunday, Dec. 30 at Bates-Cooper Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating were Rickey Logan, James Carrol Logan and Bro. Wesley Vandever. Interment was in DeShields Cemetery in Titus County.

Pallbearers were Galen Logan, David Logan, Tim Thompson, Jimmy Paul Hensley, Kendall Thompson and Jeremy Hensley.

Born July 11, 1939 in Titus County, Mrs. Fain was a former Pharmacy Tech at Titus Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include her husband, Akin Fain of Sugarhill; her mother, Maurice Logan Bell of Mount Pleasant; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Holly Fain of Dallas; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen Sykes of Sugarhill, Sharon and Neal Hutchings of Sugarhill, Vickie and James Foster of Omaha, Cindy and Tracey Brockman of Humble; two sisters, Norma Edwards of Sand Springfs, Ok. and Raytheda of Mount Pleasant; three brothers, Rickey Logan of Mount Pleasant, Ronnie Logan of Livingston and James Carrol Logan of Bay City, 10 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Flores

Petra Avalos Flores, 44, of Mount Pleasant, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001 at Titus Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were a t 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31 at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Jesudoss Thomas officiated. Interment was in Edwards Cemetery under the direction of Bates-Cooper Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Antonio Flores, Miguel Flores, Sergio Flores, Trinidad Banda, Manuel Botello and Ramero Sacedo.

Mrs. Flores was born July 12, 1957 in Rio Grande, Mexico, the daughter of Efren Avalos and Dicideria Estupian. She was employed with Pilgrim’s Pride.

She is survived by her husband Antonio Flores of Mount Pleasant; mother Dicideria Estupian of Mexico; sons Sergio Avalos and Miguel Flores, both of Mount Pleasant; daughters Delores, Avalos, Lupe Flores and Elizabeth Flores, all of Mount Pleasant; grandchildren Michael Anthony Molina, Jaime Antonio Molina, Vicky Avalos, Brenda Avalos, Lucero Avalos, Yvonne Ramirez and Jenny Ramirez. She was preceded in death by her brothers Antonio Avalos and Thomas Avalos; and father Efren Avalos.

Fox

Brady Martin Fox, 25, of Mount Pleasant, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001 in Mount Pleasant.

Mr. Fox was born July 1, 1976 in Titus County. He attended Mount Pleasant High School and was affiliated with Northridge Church of Christ.

He is survived by his mother Sally Stephens of Mount Pleasant; brother Eric Stephens of Mount Pleasant; grandmother Joyce Fox of Mount Pleasant; Dale Fox of Dallas; girlfriend Rachel Ramsey of Mount Pleasant; special friends Leigh Ann Simpson, Billie Barbara Miller and Karen VanBuskirk.

Curry-Welborn Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Gentry

Mildred Arlene Gentry, 82, of Mount Plreasant, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001 in Presbyterian Hospital in Winnsboro.

Services were held at 2 p. m. on Thursday, Jan. 3 in Bates-Cooper Chapel. Officiating was be Brian Adair. Interment was in Lone Star Cemetery in Cookville.

Pallbearers were Monk Ellis, Doyle Ryan, Bruce Terrell, Gene Camnpbell, Billy Wayne Taylor, Ronnie Banks , Kenny Banks and Rickey Holland.

Born April 26, 1919 in Mount Pleasant, Mrs. Gentry was the daughter of Charlie Easley and Leona Gautney Easley. She was a homemaker and a member of Lone Star Baptist Church.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Doris Gentry of Mount Pleasant, Johnny and Jackie Gentry of Rowlett, Ronnie Gentry of Scroggins, Darrell and Pat Gentry of Sulphur Springs, Jackie and Kathy Gentry of Carrollton, Tim and Pam Gentry of of Mount Pleasant Roger and Anita Gentry of Pittsburg; daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia (Sandy) and Bob Agan of Mount Pleasant, Nelda Johnson of Texarkana, Janette and Jake Graham of Mansfield , Dorothy Chandler of Grand Prairie, Gay Lynn Cunningham of Euless, Beverly and Jerry Carpenter of Cookville and Kim Proctor of Mount Pleasant; brother, Vern Easley of Cookville and sister-in-law, Helen Easley of Cookville.; 43 grandchildren 32 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her hsuband, Johnnie Gentry, son, Michael Gentry, daughters, Libbia Godwin and Melanie Smith, sister,Lucille Key; and brother, Morris Easley.

Gerhart

Esther Peiffer Gerhart, 86, of Mount Pleasant, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001 at Titus Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services were held at Swamp Cemetery in Reinholds, Pa. Bates-Cooper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Gerhart was born March 23, 1915 in Schaeffers Town, Penn. She was a top stitcher in a shoe and hosiery mill.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Robert and Betty Gerhart of Mount Pleasant; grandson Randy Gerhart; granddaughter Debra Parchman; great-grandchildren John Parchman, Jeff Parchman, Seth Gerhart, Chase Gerhart and Toni Phillips; great-great grandchild Taylar Phillips. She was preceded in death by her parents Fred Peiffer and Alice Mease Peiffer; husband Benjamin Gerhart.

Gordan

OMAHA - Vivian Carol Gordan, 46, of Omaha, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001 at Titus Regional Medical Center.

Memorial services are to be held at a later date. Bates-Cooper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Ms. Gordan was born May 18, 1955 in Manchester, Ten. She was a chef.

She is survived by her mother Velma Ione Smithson Gordon; son Chris Gordon of Fort Worth; daughter Mandi Ray Rhodes of Fort Worth; brother John Richard Gordan of Grennsboro, NC; sisters Rita Rios of Fort Worth, Janet Wheeler of Bluemond; grandchildren Jordan Jacob Beggs, Kenneth Lee Gordon, Michael Ray Gordon, Hayden Thomas Herbert; special friend John Manczuk of Omaha. She was preceded in death by her father Robert James Gordon; brother Michael Marshall Springer.

Gutierrez

Five month old Isaac Isaiah Tovar Gutierrez of Mount Pleasant, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002 at his residence.

A mass of Christian burial was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7 at Edwards Cemetery. Curry-Welborn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Gutierrez was born Aug. 2, 2001 in Mount Pleasant, the son of Benjamin Gutierrez and Sabrina Ortiz. He was a Catholic.

He is survived by his father Benjamin Gutierrez; mother Sabrina Ortiz; grandparents Sara and Angel Dominguez, and Maria and Benjamin Gutierrez; great-grandmother Carrie Prez; brother Estevan Ortiz.

Hanks

TALCO - Leonard Oran Hanks, 65, of Talco died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002 in Titus Regional Medical Center.

Services were at 2 p. m. on Monday, Jan. 7, 2002 at Bates-Cooper Chapel. Officiating was the Rev. Jeff Croley and the Rev. Leon Grissom. Burial was in Bridges Chapel Cemetery.

Born Feb. 7, 1936 in Titus County, Mr. Hanks was the son of Omie and Jodie Hanks. He was a truck driver and a member of Bridges Chapel Methodist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Jodie Hanks of Mount Pleasant; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Lydia Hanks of Houston; daughter and son-in-law, Sallie and Don White of Throndale; brother and sister-in-law, Sammy and Lonetha Hanks of Palestine, Tex.; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Donald Newman of Mount Pleasant, six grandchildren and one great grandchild..

He was preceded in death by his father, Omie Hanks; wife, Ruth Hanks and daughter, Susan Lynn Hanks.

Justice

Marie H. Justice, 100, of Golden, Col., died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001 in Golden.

Private graveside services were held at Monticello Cemetery. Bates-Cooper Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Born Feb. 27, 1901 in Catoosa, Ok.., Mrs. Justice was a retired stenographer. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Cherokee Nation.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Jane Justice of Golden, Col. and grandchildren, Bryan Justice of Lakewood, Col. and Sheryl Justice of St. Louis, Mo. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Larry L. Justice.
