Pegg
Erman Densy Pegg, 75, of Mount Pleasant died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003 at his residence.
Funeral services were held at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in McCrory, Ark. on Saturday, Dec. 6. The Rev. David Holcomb, the pastor of the First Baptist Church in McCrory officiated Interment was in the Fakes Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers were his grandsons, Ryan Bishop, Kevin Yeates, Dustin Pegg, Clint Pegg, Chris Smith and Jamie Smith.
Mr. Pegg was born Feb. 23, 1928 in Shawnee, Okla. He was the son of Charlie and Annie Caton Pegg. He was a retired farmer, pipe welder, business owner and rancher. Pegg was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Merchant Marines.
He is survived by his wife Viva Dee Wiggins Pegg of Mount Pleasant; daughter and son-in-law Shelia and Tom Duncan of Millry, Ala.; son and daughter-in-law Mickey and Dixie Pegg of Mount Pleasant; daughters Karen Yeates of Cedar Hill and Ellen Taylor of Texarkana; brother Charlie Pegg of Texarkana; two sisters and brothers-in-law Lucille and Jack Thomson and Juanita and John Watwood all of Texarkana; grandchildren Donna Hutchinson, Jamie Smith, Ryan Bishop, Shanna Pegg, Chris Smith, Dustin Pegg, Jessica Smith, Kevin Yeates, and Clint Pegg; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers William Pegg, Loral Pegg and J.D. Pegg.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Harte
LONE STAR — Forrest D. Harte, 80, of Lone Star died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003 in Longview.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9 at Alexander Chapel in Naples. The Rev. Richard Tatum will officiate. Interment will be in the Vissering Cemetery.
Mr. Harte was born Feb. 26, 1923 in Naples. He was the son of Jonah and Irene Vissering Harte. Harte was retired from Lone Star Steel and he was a veteran of World War II where he served as a pilot in the Air Force, retiring as a Lt. Col. in the 320th bomber group. He was a Methodist, a member of the Iron Bluff Masonic Lodge, a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. He was a lifetime member of the Gilmer VFW, a longtime resident of Lone Star and former resident of Naples.
He is survived by his wife Iris Howard Harte of Lone Star; daughter and son-in-law Donna and Jerry Coker of Winnsboro; sons Michael David Harte of Lone Star and Joel Travis Harte of Longview; sister and brother-in-law Carolyn and Ben Best of Naples; grandchildren Jennifer Burnett, Amanda Coker both of Winnsboro, and Ryan David Harte of Lone Star; great-grandson Justin Allen Harte of Winnsboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Clayton and Ikey Harte.
The family will receive visitors from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Gaines
MOUNT VERNON - Edith Gaines, 57, of Mount Vernon died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003 in Tyler.
Services will be held at Harvey Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9. Interment will be in the Hagansport Cemetery.
Mrs. Gaines was born Jan. 4, 1946 in Deport, the daughter of the R. D. Crowston and Edith Burks.
She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law Steve Crowston of San Diego, Calif. and Paul and Bobbie Jo Call of Mount Vernon; brothers Billie Crowston of Hagansport and Jimmy Earl Crowston of Gladewater; sister Anna Lee Fail of Kilgore; grandson, Brandon Lee Call and aunt Grace Hearron of Talco.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Petty
Harold Bruce Petty, 67, of Mount Pleasant died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003 in Texarkana.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10 at Bates-Cooper Chapel. Bro. Howard Petty will officiate. Interment will be in the Leesburg Cemetery.
Mr. Petty was born March 13, 1936 in Gladewater. He was the son of Walter and Carolyn Smith Petty. He was a technician with Decker Power Plant and a veteran, serving with the United States Air Force. He was a Baptist.
He is survived by his fiancé Louise Bonham of Mount Pleasant; brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard and Jo Ann Petty of Mount Pleasant and Bill and Peggy Petty of Austin; sister and brother-in-law Ann and Harry Dillman of Tyler; niece Tina Coleman of Tyler; nephew Butch Petty of Mount Pleasant.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Linda Petty.
The family will receive visitors from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Philips
GILMER — H. J. Philips, 80, of Gilmer died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003 in Gilmer.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 11 at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Pittsburg. The Rev. Walter Allen will officiate. Interment will be in the Cottage Hill Cemetery in Collin Co. at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11.
Mr. Philips was born Jan. 7, 1923, the son of Chris and Lillie Odell Philips. He was a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife Katherine Harris Philips of Simpsonville; son and daughter-in-law Bobby and Kim Philips of Gilmer; two daughters JoAnn Brooks of Longview and Deborah Philips of Simpsonville; grandchildren Bobby Philips Jr., Michele Philips, Terri Miller, D.J. Brooks, Jeanette Brooks and Amber Agurie; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors from from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Brummell
LONE OAK — Former Pittsburg resident Ruby Brummell, 90, of Lone Oak died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003 at Presbyterian Hospital in Greenville.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17 at Macedonia Cemetery under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Mrs. Brummell was born Aug. 28, 1913, the daughter of Archie Grubbs and Mary Marshall Grubbs. She was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Winfred and Delores Richardson of Lone Oak; daughter and son-in-law Mickey and Lee Landers of Leesburg; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Weldon Richardson and grandchild Bud Richardson.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Sharp
DAINGERFIELD — M.C. Sharp, 65, of Daingerfield died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2004 in a Longview hospital.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003 at Reeder-Davis Chapel. Norman Munoz will officiate. Interment will be in the Shady Grove Cemetery in Cason under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home.
Mr. Sharp was born July 18, 1938 in Tenaha. He was a truck driver and retired from Lone Star Steel.
He is survived by sons Eddie Sharp and Sammy Sharp both of Jenkins, Calvin Sharp of Cason; daughters Ella Newsome of Cason, Teresa Pettiway of Lone Star and Sylvia Harper of Ore City; brothers Elisha Sharp and Dewitt Sharp; sisters Jane Mae Strange, Stella Norman and Ophia Franklin all of Rockwall; 13 granchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Carrell
HAGANSPORT — Virginia Carrell, 74, of Hagansport died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003 in Bogata.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18 at Harvey Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Freddy Henry will officiate. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Mrs. Carrell was born March 13, 1929 in McCury, the daughter of George Joel Clouse and Willie Bell Haygood.
She is survived by children Patricia Smyers of Hagansport, Jo Ann Stewart of Beaumont, Esther Malone of Paris, Larry Carrell and Ronnie Carrell both of Hagansport, Ronald Carrell of Vidor, Donna Vaughn of Bogata and Angie Templeton of Paris; brothers Ira Clouse of Bogata and Mirkle Dean Clouse of Farmers Branch; sisters Helen Sessums and Sally Knowles both of Bogata; 39 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Smith

Maudie Lee Smith, 88, of Mount Pleasant died Friday, Jan. 31, 2003 in Tyler.
Services will held at 10 a.m. Monday at Bates-Cooper Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Leon Grissom will officiate. Interment will be in Bridges Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brad Matheidas, Keith Smith, Carl Morris, Jimmy Wilkerson, Jimmy Morris, Ed Soto, Chris Beck, Russell Wilkerson and Charlie Morris. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Smith, Kenyon Smith, Louie Smith, Gary Russell and Sammy Hanks.

Mrs. Smith was born Nov. 11, 1914 in Soper, Okla. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church of Talco.

She is survived by sons and daughter-in-laws Billy Joe and Frankie Smith of Mont Belview, Texas, Kenneth Gene and Tammy Smith of Mount Pleasant and Perry L. Smith of Mount Pleasant, sister Jodie Hanks of Mount Pleasant; 24 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, six nieces and seven nephews.

The family will receive visitors from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home

Mendez
Leonardo Mendez, 56, of Mount Pleasant died Friday, May 14, 2004 in Mount Pleasant.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, May 17 at St. Michaels Catholic Church with Father Octavio Suarez officiating. Interment will be in Edwards Cemetery under the direction of Bates-Cooper Funeral Home.
Mr. Mendoz was born Nov. 6, 1947 in San Louis Potsi, Mexico. He was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Matilde Mendez of Mount Pleasant; sons, Raul Mendez, Armando Mendez, Juan Francisco Mendez; daughter, Silvia Mendez; brothers, Gabriel Mendez and Filidorio Mendez; sisters, Maria Mendez and Benigra Mendez; parents, Juan and Apolinaria Mendez and eight grandchildren.

Townsend
DAINGERFIELD C Casey Lee Townsend, 26, of Daingerfield died Thursday, May 13, 2004, in Lone Star.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 16 at the Jenkins United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Darby and the Rev. John Montgomery officiating. Interment will be in the Center Ridge Cemetery in Maud under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home.
Ms. Townsend was born Aug. 30, 1977 in Longview. She was a member of the Jenkins United Methodist Church. She earned her bachelor of science degree in nursing from Texas Tech and worked in the emergency room at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview. She was a member of Emergency Nurses Association, and an ACLS Provider.
She is survived by her son, Jacob Cade Townsend of Daingerfield; Cade=s father, Mike Catron of Gilmer; her parents, Richard and Karen Townsend of Daingerfield; her sister, Sonya Townsend of Daingerfield; niece, Samantha Townsend of Daingerfield; her grandparents, J.C. & Frances Townsend of Maud; aunt and uncle, Joy Davis of Forney, and Dennis and Bertie Townsend of Tyler; several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jan Porter Townsend in 1978.
The family will receive family and friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
