Winnie Clarice Rosewell, 93, of Mount Pleasant died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004 in Mount Pleasant.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 9 at Bates-Cooper Chapel with Bro. Dwaine Higgins and Bro. Bobby Madison officiating. Interment will be in Omaha Cemetery under the direction of Bates-Cooper Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
Mrs. Rosewell was born Aug. 2, 1911 in Morris County, the daughter of Robert and Mae Causey. She was a housewife and member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Omaha.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Ray and Julie Rosewell, Jerry Zane and Katie Rosewell and Roy Mack and Donna Rosewell, all of Cookville; daughter, Betty Ann Phillips of Cookville; daughter-in-law, Margie Rosewell of Omaha; sisters, Alice Hultsman, Irene Hammonds and Iona Derrick, all of Omaha and Annie Mae Gibson of Stephenville; 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Leon Rosewell; parents; daughter, Dorothy Raney; son, Bobby Leon Rosewell; grandchildren, Linda Kay Powell and Rex Ray Raney and great-great-grandchildren Aaron Tuck and Ricky Don Rosewell.
The family will receive visitors from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Taylor
DALLAS - Darnal E. Taylor, 56, of Dallas died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at Mesquite Community Hospital in Mesquite.
Services will be held at 1p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22 at Myrtle Springs C.M.E. Church in Pittsburg with the Rev. L. C. Bell Sr. officiating. Interment will be in the Macedonia Cemetery in Leesburg under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Johnny Allen, Devon Taylor, Jabari Mosley, Jimmy Irvin, Curtis Irvin, Victor Allen and Herchell Flournoy. Honorary pallbearers are the stewards of Myrtle Springs C.M.E. Church.
Mr. Taylor was born Jan. 22, 1948 in Pittsburg, the son of Grace Taylor and Clarence Taylor. He was affiliated with Macedonia Church of Christ in Pittsburg.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia R. Taylor of Dallas; three daughters, Catherine Taylor of Dallas, Donna Taylor of Mineola and Pam Fields of Dallas; two step-daughters, Shelia R. Session and Rosemary Mosley both of Dallas; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; mother, Grace Taylor of Oak Ridge, La.; two sisters, Dorothy Taylor and Jeanette Taylor, both of Oak Ridge, La.; three brothers, Willie Taylor, James Taylor, and Henry Taylor, all of Oak Ridge, La.; and an aunt.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mann
ODESSA - Kaye Mann, 63, of Odessa died Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, in Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be held at 2p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19 in the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Crane County cemetery under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Ms. Mann was born Dec. 25, 1940 in DeQueen, Ark., the daughter of William A. Rowlett Sr. and Carrie Louise Rowlett. She was an office manager in home construction.
She is survived by her life companion of 20 years, C. T. Arnold of Odessa; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dennis Mann of Andrews and David and Kasey Mann of Odessa; a daughter, Wyvonnia Mann of San Angelo; a brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Gayle Rowlett of Forney; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Maxine and Elmer Patton of Talco, Freda and Joe Law of Forney, and Gwen and Don Urie of St. Helens, Ore.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, W. A. Rowlett Jr., and James Wesley Rowlett.

McDonald
PITTSBURG - William E. "Bill" McDonald, 73, of Pittsburg died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004, at his residence.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21 at the First United Methodist Church in Pittsburg, with the Rev. Ricky Ricks and the Rev. Richard Heyduck officiating. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Chuck Johns, Jim Bartholomew, Gary Luttrell, Jimmy Drennan, Don Emery and Burt Marans. Honorary pallbearers is the Interpreter's Sunday School Class.
Mr. McDonald was born Feb. 2, 1931, in Wellsville, Ohio, the son of Otto E. and Hazel Zahrndt McDonald. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He retired from Lone Star Steel. He was the current City Judge of Pittsburg, serving for the last 10 years. He also worked for local car dealerships transporting cars for customer assistance.
He is survived by his daughter, Michele McDonald of Pittsburg; step-son and spouse, Jimmy and Karen Leath of Puyallup, Wash.; one step-daughter and spouse, Sandy and Harry Rogers of Blountstown, Fla.; six grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Donna and James Hogue of Salineville, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-daughter, Sherry Kimbell.
The family will receive friends from 6- 8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.

Morris
Glenda Sue Morris, 60, of Mount Pleasant died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004 at her residence.
Services will be held at 3p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24 at First Baptist Church in Pittsburg with the Rev. Steve Packer and the Rev. Mike Kessler officiating. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Rodney Huffman, Kenneth Lee, Ron Nix, Charles Pirkey, Gary Dodd, Bill Hart, Al Freudenthal and Jim Carney. Honorary pallbearers are John Wilhite, Carroll Burns, Jimmy Carpenter, Jimmy Kirby and Eddie Johnson.
Mrs. Morris was born Jan. 17, 1944 in Pittsburg, the daughter of Roy Dee and Vertas Nell Bishop Carpenter. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pittsburg; Campus Teacher of the Year 1995 at Corprew Elementary School and 2003 at P. E. Wallace Middle School; member and past Officer of Delta Kappa Gamma; member and past President of the Mount Pleasant chapter of the Texas Classroom Teachers Association.
She is survived by her husband, Robert "R.E." Morris of Mount Pleasant; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Sarah Morris of Charlotte, N.C.; one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and David Walker of Baytown; three grandchildren, Ryan Walker and Kaitlyn Walker of Baytown, and Emily Morris of Charlotte, N.C.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Elton Carpenter of Pittsburg, and David and Patricia Carpenter of Waxahachie; brother-in-law and spouse, Harold and Billie Ann Pierce of Oklahoma City, Okla.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Nelda and John LeJune of Orange, and Donna and Henry Reeder of Richardson; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Burns
PITTSBURG - Pauline Burns, 71, of Pittsburg died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004 at Titus Regional Medical Center in Mount Pleasant.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24 at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Thomas officiating. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Pittsburg under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Dwight S. Burns, Wendell M. Burns, Tommy D. Hopkins, Donald McNealy, Eric Burns and Thomas Farmer. Honorary pallbearers are Jerrard Johnson, Harold Burns, Kendall Burns, Morris Chalk Jr., Arthur J. Burns and Danny Burns.
Mrs. Burns was born Oct. 31, 1932 in Pittsburg, the daughter of Zula Mae McNealy. She was a member of Pine Bluff First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her uncle, Wendell Burns of Pittsburg; and six aunts, Christine Beatty of Oklahoma City, Okla, Fuller Burns of Hawkins, Barbara Burns, Evelyn Burns, Nina Johnson and Faye N. Clay, all of Pittsburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
No visitation is planned.

Douglas
Billy "Bill" Bruce Douglas, 81, of Mount Pleasant died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, in Mount Pleasant.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25 at Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Kessler and the Rev. Jeff Julian officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Bates-Cooper Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Eddie Vaughan, Densal Wilson, Pat Flora, Michael Mars, Kenneth Cooley, Randy Shortnacy, Jason Shortnacy and Tom Cooley.
Mr. Douglas was born Oct. 30, 1922 in Pittsburg, the son of Edgar Howard and Martha Elizabeth Young Douglas. He was a retired tool technician from Texas Utilities. He served in World War II in the U. S. Navy from Jan. 2, 1943 - Oct. 22, 1945. He was a member and Deacon at Trinity Baptist Church. He also worked for 30 years for Fina.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Douglas of Mount Pleasant, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Billy Bruce and Denise Douglas Jr. of Arnaudville, La., and Danny Edgar Douglas of Mount Pleasant; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Leonard Davis of Mount Pleasant; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-laws and spouses, Billy and Luann Shortnacy of Gainesville, and Dave and Paula Shortnacy of Mount Pleasant; two sisters, Grace Guthrie of Dallas and Martha McDonald of Sulphur Springs; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and two sisters.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Kitchens
DE QUEEN, Ark. - Lona Beatrice Roden Kitchens died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004 at Wadley Hospital in Texarkana, Texas.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 25 at 2 p.m at Millcreek Cemetery with Rev. Faron Rogers officiating under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Kitchens was born July 12, 1972 in Hochatown, Okla. She was a member of First Baptist Church of De Queen. She was a waitress, cook and one of the first employees of Mountaire, now known as Pilgrim's Pride when it came to De Queen. She also served as a grandma to many kids at Grandma's House Day Nursery.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Doylene and Charles "Nub" Young of Mount Pleasant; granddaughters and husbands, Laura Ann and Butch Walls of Gillett, Ark., Sheila Kay and Scott Eddy of Mount Pleasant and Kristin Elizabeth "KiKi" Young of Mount Pleasant; great-grandchildren Travis, Tara and Tyler Walls, Sarah, Rebekah and Daniel Eddy, Kaitlyn Bretches and Parker Jones.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Ivy Roden; mother, Lizzie Jacobs; brothers, Kenneth Roden and Clayton and Billy Dean Jacobs; sisters, Helen Roden Grubbs and Patsy Jacobs Taggart and nephew, Tommy Grubbs.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Amerson
MESQUITE - William Bruce Amerson, 58, of Mesquite formerly of Mount Pleasant, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004 in Mesquite.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22 at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ted Kiser officiating.
Mr. Amerson was born Jan. 24, 1946 in Mount Pleasant. He was employed by F.F.E. for seven years as a road coordinator.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Amerson of Mesquite; a son, Christopher Amerson; a daughter, Valerie Bishop; six grandchildren; one step-son; one step-daughter; four step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Gaddis

Kathrine Ford Gaddis, 92, of Mount Pleasant, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002 at Titus Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20 at First Baptist Church. Dr. Clint Davis will officiate. Interment will be in Masonic Cemetery in Mount Pleasant under the direction of Curry-Welborn Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Jeff Welborn, Johnny Thomas, Jack Marshall, Eddie Thomas and David Harbour.

Mrs. Gaddis was born Feb. 17, 1910 in Cookville, the daughter of William A. Ford and Dovie Taylor. She was self-employed as the owner of Gaddis Motel and was a member of the First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews Richard F. Presley of Houston, W.R. Presley of Austin, William Ford III of Abilene, Debby Ford of San Antonio and Sunny Bettis of Irving, and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband C.E. (Pete) Gaddis; brother W.A. Ford II; sisters Margret Ford Reeves and Cornelia Ford Presley.

The family will receive visitors from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Youth Group.

Dorothy Marie Swift

June 4, 1911 — May 2, 2001

CONROE — Services for Dorothy Marie Swift, 89, of Conroe and formerly of the Elwood Community, are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Madisonville. The Rev. Michael Berone will officiate. Burial will be in the Allphin Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Madisonville Funeral Home.

Mrs. Swift died on May 2 in Conroe.

She was born in Key West, Fla. She was a homemaker and member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and the Sacred Heart Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie John Swift Sr.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, John Craig and Mary Jane Swift of Grand Prairie and Leslie John Swift Jr. of Houston; two daughters, Carol Ann Swift of Conroe and Mary Catherine Swift of Houston; a sister, Martha A. Kramer of Sugar Land; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church Education Building Fund or to Memorial and Honor Program-F, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105-1905.

Harrison Tofil Rakowitz

May 22, 2001 — May 22, 2001

A private graveside service will take place Saturday for Harrison Tofil Rakowitz, infant, of Bryan. The Rev. Rusty Goodwin of Northview Baptist Church in Bryan will officiate. Burial will be in the Kurten Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

Harrison died Monday at St. Joseph Regional Health Center.

He was born in Bryan.

Survivors include his parents, Dale Edward and Carol Ann Rakowtiz of Bryan; a brother, Joseph E. Rakowitz, and a sister, Lisa Marie Rakowitz, both of Bryan; and his grandparents, Earl and Margaret Parker of College Station and Jesse and Mozelle Rakowitz of Pleasanton.

Rosie Lee Waller

April 4, 1911 — May 20, 2001

Services for Rosie Lee Waller, 90, of College Station are set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Ruby’s Chapel at Jones-Washington Mortuary in Bryan. The Rev. Robert Watson of Greater Love Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles will officiate. Burial will be in the Old Bethlehem Cemetery in Tunis.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Ms. Waller died Sunday at Colton Inn.

She was a longtime resident of Brazos County. She was a member of College Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include a number of nephews, nieces and other relatives.

Mary Batson Stone

Oct. 25, 1918 — May 24, 2001

AUSTIN — Services for Mary Batson Stone, 82, formerly of Madisonville, are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at J.M. Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville. The Rev. Dean Ferguson will officiate. Burial will be in the High Prairie Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to service time on Saturday with the family present from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Stone died Thursday in Austin.

She was born in Madisonville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, E.E. Stone.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Warner and Sally Stone of Dallas; a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Perry H. Pelley of Austin; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Jean and P.L. Brown of Madisonville, Alleen Payne of Grapeland and Polly and Mutt Wells of Oklahoma; and four grandchildren.

Hilda Hemann Abke
Feb. 17, 1914 — May 24, 2001

NAVASOTA — Services for Hilda Hemann Abke, 87, of Navasota are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Navasota.

The Rev. Donald Kasper of Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Church Cemetery in White Hall.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel in Navasota.
Mrs. Abke died Thursday in Grimes St. Joseph Health Center.

She was born in White Hall and was a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fritz Abke, and two sons.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James and Leta Abke of Conroe; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mae and Jerry Sturm of Navasota and Gerry and Don Henderson of Willis; a daughter-in-law, Mary Abke of Whitney; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Sophie and Martin Wehmeier of Navasota, Ida Marzhan of Burleson, Christine Abke of New Caney and Eardine and Albert Lauter of Washington; a sister-in-law, Ivy Dell Hemann of Navasota; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
