McCurdy

DAINGERFIELD - Charlotte Jean LaRue McCurdy, 61, of Daingerfield, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002 in Paris.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20 at Nail-Haggard Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Bobby Madison and Sister Lollie Madison will officiate. Interment will be in Daingerfield Cemetery.

Mrs. McCurdy was born Aug. 20, 1940 in Dyersburg, Tn. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Mount Pleasant.

She is survived by her husband Robert W. McCurdy of Daingerfield; daughters and sons-in-law Lea and James Garner of Bedford, Anita and James Posey of Mount Pleasant, Suzanne and Jeff Dicken of Daingerfield; sons and daughter-in-law Robert Jr. and Becky McCurdy of White Oak, Michael W. McCurdy of Daingerfield; sister Carolyn Hendren of Dyersburg, Tn.; brothers Louis LaRue of Memphis, Tn. and Bobby LaRue of Dyersburg, Tn.; grandchildren B.J. Brown, Bobby Brown, Shannon Garner, Travis Garner, Justin Posey, Jerri Taylor, Jennifer Bishopp, Kristy McCurdy, Amanda McCurdy, Skye Vetter, Jackson McCurdy, Jansen McCurdy and Edward McCurdy; and great-grandchildren Kalynn Taylor and Kenli Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents L.M. and Charlotte LaRue; and sister Cathy Rose.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Rhyne

LINDEN - Eddie Spurgan Rhyne, 87, of Linden, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002 in Linden.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20 at Cave Springs Cemetery in Linden under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home. The Rev. George Wormington will officiate.

Mr. Rhyne was born Nov. 24, 1914 in Cass County. He was affiliated with Missionary Baptist Church in Linden and was retired from the Texas Department of Transportation.

He is survived by his wife Frances Rhyne of Linden; son and daughter-in-law Richard and Kathy Rhyne of Cookville; daughter and son-in-law Pearly and Roy Bale of Linden; four grandchildren; five great-grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Amanda Wormington in 1985.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Tucker

Services for June Tucker of Mount Pleasant, who died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, are pending with Bates-Cooper Funeral Home.

Wommack

BASTROP - Virginia G. Wommack, 54, of Bastrop, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002.

Mrs. Wommack was born Dec. 21, 1947 and is a former resident of Mount Pleasant.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 19 at Trinity Baptist Church in Smithville. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Smithville under the direction of Marrs Jones Newby Funeral Home.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years Ray; daughter Tami Rae Taylor of Hopkinsville, Ky.; son Trey of Bastrop; grandchildren Reagan, Kaitlin, Gavin, Cole and James; mother Madille Vaughn of Euless; brother Tommy Vaughn of Justin; sisters Cindy Coleman of Irving and Kelly McCune of Kaufman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Campbell

Funeral services for former Mount Pleasant High School and University of Miami football standout Chris Campbell, 21, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002 at Trinity Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant.

Mr. Campbell died in a Florida automobile accident Feb. 16, 2002.

Griffin

NAPLES - Mary Brock Griffin, 82, of Naples, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002 in Texarkana.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jim Holloway will officiate. Interment will be in Union Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Odis Cline, Tommy Griffin, Chris Brock, David Brock, Joe Brock and Chris Barker.

Mrs. Griffin was born Oct. 3, 1919 in Bryans Mill. She was a member of the Bryans Mill Baptist Church and a lifetime resident of the Naples area.

She is survived by her brother Bill Brock of Hughes Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews including Randy Brock of Marietta. She was preceded in death by her husband Jamie Griffin in 1990.

Hampton

OMAHA - Floriene Richey Hampton, 89, of Omaha, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002 in Mount Pleasant.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 at Concord Baptist Church. The Revs. Nolan Richey, Rodney Richey, Ray Richey and Glen Griffith will officiate. Interment will be in Concord Cemetery under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Hampton's great-nephews Lance Richey, Shaun Richey, Stephen Richey, Shane Richey, John Richey, Timothy Gattis, Adam Gattis, Ryan Richey, Jake Richey and Luke Richey.

Mrs. Hampton was born July 21, 1912 in Omaha. She was a member of the Concord Baptist Church and worked in the Dallas school system for many years. She was a longtime resident of Omaha.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law Glenda Hampton; grandchildren Randy and Sharla; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Alvin; and son Dwayne.

Kingston

LINDALE - Larry N. Kingston, 83, of Hide-A-Way Lake in Lindale, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at Community Church of Hide-A-Way Lake. Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Directors, Inc. is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Kingston was born May 6, 1918 in Lakewood, Oh., the son of Herbert Birch Kingston and Bessie Louella Nutting Kingston. He lived in Ohio until 1970, then in Temple and Dallas, each for ten years. He retired from 55 years in business forms printing in 1990 at age 72 to Hide-A-Way Lake. Mr. Kingston graduated from Chardon High School in Ohio and served in the Army Air Corps as a radio operator, flying on C-47s in Italy and North Africa during World War II. He actively participated in the interests and activities of his children and grandsons, and his hometown church, community and civic affairs.

He is survived by his wife of five years Peggy Jo Kingston of Hide-A-Way Lake; daughter and son-in-law Sue Lynn and Dr. Charles Florio of Pittsburg; son and daughter-in-law Lee Hogan and Allison Kingston of Cincinnati, Oh.; grandsons Kyle Lee Florio of Houston and Chase Britain Floris of San Marcos; and sister and brother-in-law Janet Elizabeth Kingston and Hugh Knapp of Mentor, Oh. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Mildred Hogan Kingston; and sister and brother-in-law Muriel Louise Kingston and Lawrie Vosburgh.

Memorial contributions may be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, c/o Allison Kingston, 2863 Ridgewood Avenue, Cincinnati, Oh. 45213.

Ivery

SULPHUR SPRINGS - Nathaniel Ivery, 72, of Sulphur Springs, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25 at Saint Luke Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs. The Rev. Troy Young will officiate. military graveside services will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park under the direction of the Hopkins County military Coalition. Pallbearers will be Stewart Ivery, Grover, Ivery, Johnny Washington, Marvin Allen, Jerry Allen and Dwayne Herris. Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Washington, Bro. Clifton Peoples, Joe Dan Ivery, Tommy Washington, Gerald Washington and Jimmy Washington. Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Ivery was born Mar. 23, 1929 in Sulphur Springs, the son of William McKenzie and Virdie Lee Uri Ivery. He was a retired truck driver for Farmers' Coop, having worked there for 34 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the Baptist church and of the Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his sons Gralon Every of Sulphur Springs and Dana Ivery of Mount Pleasant; daughters Tommie Pogue of Sulphur Springs and Ury Johnson of Dallas; sister Mattie Lou Ivery of Greenville; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Jessie Lee Washington in August 2001; brothers William McKenzie "Bo" Ivery Jr. and Grover Cleveland Ivery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Luke Baptist Church.

Mallory

PARIS - F. D. Mallory III, former mayor of the City of Paris and leading civic leader, died at his home on Friday, Feb. 11, 2002.

Services will be at 2 p. m. on Monday, Feb. 25 in First United Methodist Church of Paris Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p. m. on Sunday, Feb. 24.

Pallbearers will be George Young, Philip Cecil, George Williams, Brad Hutchison, Roger "Cotton" Anderson, Eddie Reeves, Charles Endsley and Glen Gambill.

Honorary pallbearers will be officers and employee of Liberty National Bank, members of the Greater Paris Rotary Club and all of his golfing friends

Mr. Mallory was born on Aug. 20, 1938 in Sarasota, Fla., the son of F. D. Mallory Jr. and Inez Mallory, The family returned to their home in Paris in 1941

He graduated from Paris High School in 1956. He attended Texas A&M, Paris Junior College and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from East Texas State Teacher's College.

He married Hilda Thompson in 1956 and was associated with Liberty National Bank for 35 years.

He was a longtime member of the Paris Jaycees; where he was elected to a state directorship and in 1971 was named recipient of the Jaycees Distinguished Service Award. Earlier, he was elected chairman of the board of directors of the Paris Arts, Inc He was on the board of directors of McCuistion Medical Center.

After serving on the Library Board and the City Board of Adjustment, he was elected to the Ward 3 city council seat.

In 1973, he became the second youngest mayor to hold that position in Paris

He was an active Rotarian and served as president of the Paris Club. In 1992, he was named a Paul Harris Fellow.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, serving on the Administrative Board and as treasurer.

He is survived by his wife, Hilda, and her mother Estelle Thompson of Paris; four sons and their wives, Steven Mitchell and Kathy of Highlands Ranch, Colo. Christopher Gordon of Mount Pleasant, F. D. IV and Rhonda of Paris, and Mark Reed and Heidi of North Hollywood, Calif.;

grandsons and granddaughters, Christopher Jon of Dallas, Melody and Robin of Paris, Erin and Ryan of Mount Pleasant and Buck of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; sister, Sarah and her husband Rod of Irvine, Calif; brother, Milton and wife Dianne of Austin; sister-in-law, Barbara Ballad of Roxton; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Ruth Thompson of Paris.

Memorials may be made to Ark Fund of First United Methodist Church, Paris Community Theater, the American Cancer Society, 5501 Plaza Drive, Texarkana, Tx. 75503; the Boys and Girls Club of Paris or the Rotary Scholarship Fund at Paris Junior College.

McCoy

Marion McCoy, 81, of Mount Pleasant died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002 in Villa Residential Care..

Memorial services are scheduled at a later date. The Rev. Stephen Newton will officiate and arrangements are under the direction of Bates-Cooper Funeral Home.

Born Oct.. 3, 1920 in Clarksville, she was the daughter of John Duncan and Elizabeth Banks. She was a druggist assistant.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Don Duncan Bell and Sharon Bell of Flower Mound and Michael Curtis Bell and Susan Bell of Rowlett; brother and sister-in-law Williams Bank Duncan and Margaret Duncan of Baltimore, Md.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Douglas and Mildred McCoy of Nacogdoches; sisters-in-law, Narca Duncan of El Paso and Maurine McCoy of Weatherford; three grandchildren, Jeremy and Cody Bell of Flower Mound and Micah Bell of Rowlett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Curtis Bell; brothers, Robert Duncan of Clarksville and Jack Duncan of El Paso.

Memorials may be to First Presbyterian Women's Project Fund.
