HARLINGEN - Thelma Davis, 85, of Harlingen, died Monday, March 4, 2002 at Harlingen Nursing Center.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 8 at Maple Spring Cemetery in Camp County under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home.
Mrs. Davis was born June 19, 1916. She was a homemaker and a Methodist.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Shirley and Robert "Bob" Shores of Harlingen; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brother J.D. Rollins of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by her husband Ervin "E.C." Davis on May 21, 1985; parents George and Sally Ashcroft Rollins; and son Bobby Brown.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Hubbard
Cleo Hodge Hubbard, 91, of Mount Pleasant, died Wednesday, March 6, 2002 at Titus Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bates-Cooper Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Tommy Horn will officiate. Interment will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Hubbard was born Dec. 22, 1910 in Titus County. She was retired and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son Bobby Landrum of Mount Pleasant; daughter Valeta Sanders of Mount Pleasant; brother Jay W. Hodge of Wake Village; sister Vera McNeil of Mount Pleasant; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert "Bob" and Nicy Owen Hodge; and sister Effie White.
The family will receive visitors from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Norwood
RUSK - Hemby Norwood, 84, of Rusk, died Saturday, March 9, 2002 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Monday, March 11 at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Wallace Thompson Funeral Home. Walter White will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Huddleston, Cotton Norton, Roy Wayne Henson, Shad Mabry, Robert Woodruff, John Woodruff, Nicholas Counts and Tony Sims.
Mr. Norwood was born Oct. 24, 1917 in Maydelle. He was a long time resident of Rusk and was a member of Rusk Church of Christ. He retired from Rusk State Hospital in 1968 after 22 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines, serving during World War II, and was a former member of Veterans of Foreign War Post #3406 in Rusk.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Finnigene Norwood of Rusk; son Jay Norwood of San Antonio; daughters and sons-in-law Annice and Julian Counts of Mount Pleasant, Sara and David Woodruff of Rusk; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend Sam Lee of San Antonio. He was preceded in death by his parents; and seven siblings.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Skipper
PITTSBURG - Pearl Skipper, 69, of Pittsburg, died Friday, March 8, 2002 at Pittsburg Nursing Center.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 13 at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ricky Ricks will officiate.
Mrs. Skipper was born Sept. 20, 1932 in Denver, Co.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law David and Jean Skipper of San Dimas, Ca.; daughter and son-in-law Sandra and Craig Baumunk of La Verne, Ca.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother Gene Meyer of Los Angeles, Ca.; niece Debbie Turner; and nephews Danny Meyer and Dale Meyer. She was preceded in death by her husband S.J. Skipper on Jan. 10, 1998; parents Walter Meyer and Jennie Meyer; and one sister.

Ellis
PITTSBURG - Mary John Ellis, 83, of Pittsburg, died Sunday, March 10, 2002 at East Texas Medical Center.
Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 12 at First United Methodist Church of Pittsburg. Bro. Rickie Ricks will officiate. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Bates-Cooper Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ellis was born April 15, 1918 in Cason. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Pittsburg. She graduated from East Texas College in Commerce with a degree in elementary education, then taught school until she married Carlton Ellis. She was a member of the Garden Club and the Pittsburg P.T.A.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law John and Sheryl Ellis, Frank and Kay Ellis, all of Dallas; daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth and Hal Holcomb of Dallas; grandchildren Meredith, Emily, Sarah and Katherine Ellis, and Charles and John Holcomb. She was preceded in death by her husband Carlton Ellis; and parents John Walter and Dosey (Hole) Cason.
The family will receive visitors from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Redfearn
Edward Redfearn Jr. (Junior Redfearn), 80, of Mount Pleasant, died Saturday, March 9, 2002 at Titus Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 12 at Bates-Cooper Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Glenn Griffith will officiate. Interment will be in Farmers Academy Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Billy Shawn Redfearn, James Brandon Redfearn, Billy Joe Schuler, Danny Owens, Billy Dean Redfearn and Bryan Deloach.
Mr. Redfearn was born Dec. 4, 1921 in Mount Pleasant. He was retired and was a veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife Mary E. Redfearn; sons and daughters-in-law James and Kathy Redfearn, Billy and Jeanie Redfearn, all of Mount Pleasant; daughter and son-in-law Ann and Lanis Reiger of Linden; grandsons and their spouses Shawn and Donna Redfearn, Brandon and Michelle Redfearn, all of Mount Pleasant; granddaughters and spouse Jaime and Billy Schuler, and Leslie Redfearn, all of Mount Pleasant; great-grandsons Jagger Williams, Collin Redfearn and Bryan Deloach, all of Mount Pleasant; great-granddaughters Meagan Blackwell, Erin Redfearn, Allissah Mayes and Amanda Deloach, all of Mount Pleasant; and nephew Billy Dean Redfearn of Mount Pleasant. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Hattie Redfearn; and brother Nolan Redfearn.

PITTSBURG - Jane Loyd Holman, 77, of Pittsburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002 at Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30 at First United Methodist Church in Pittsburg. The Rev. Ricky Ricks will officiate. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Larry Shelton, Neal O'Quinn, Yank Howell, Bucky Harrison, Tim Truitt and John Truitt.. Honorary pallbearers will be Jewel Garrett and Thomas Reardon.
Mrs. Holman was born Jan. 30, 1924 in Big Sandy. She was a member of the executive Board of Directors for the United Methodist Church in Pittsburg.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law Barbara Wertz of Mount Pleasant, Elizabeth Carter of Dallas and Martha and Stan Archibald of Dallas; grandchildren Clayton Wertz of Dallas, Reed Wertz of Mount Pleasant, Emily Carter and Craig Archibald, both of Dallas, Elizabeth VanGoor of Grand Rapids, Mich., Stuart Carter and Ben Archibald, both of Dallas; brother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. John Holman of Pittsburg; sister-in-law Margaret Brown of Pittsburg; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Hill Holman Jr. on Oct. 8, 1984; and parents Olen Sampson Loyd and Ella Lee Craig Loyd.

Minter
Jesse Mac Minter, 70, of Mount Pleasant, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002 at Titus Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 at First Church of God in Christ. Elder Tommy Smith will officiate. Interment will be in Piney Cemetery under the direction of Tumey Mortuary. Pallbearers will be LaVaughander Minter, Leroy Gipson, George Smith, Raymond Hayes, Charles Smith Jr., Tony Rundles and Tommy Hopkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodrick Grant, Michael Grant, Micah Grant, Ti Dedric Harper and Deareon Grant.
Mr. Minter was born Nov. 14, 1931 in Commerce, the son of Zettie and Candassia (Elliott) Minter. He was a 1951 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and was a United States Army veteran. He was a retired foreman for Lone Star Steel Company and was currently employed as a security guard for TXU. He was a mason and a member of the American Legion, Texas Post No. 210.
He is survived by his wife Billie Jo Minter of Mount Pleasant; mother Candassia Minter of Dallas; son Gregory Smith of Mount Pleasant; daughter Debra Grant of Mount Pleasant; grandchildren Rodrick Grant, Michael Grant, Yuquchessia Grant, all of Mount Pleasant, Katrina Grant of. He was preceded in death by his father; son Billy Ivory; and brothers I.J. Minter, Zettie Lee Minter and Edgar Minter.
No formal visitation with the family is planned, however Mr. Minter will lie in state from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Taylor
DAINGERFIELD - Anette Taylor, 44, of Daingerfield, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002 in Upshur County.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 at Shady Grove Christian Church. The Rev. A.O. Sasser will officiate. Interment will be in Shady Grove Cemetery under the direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking. Pallbearers will be Roderick Neal, Daniel Taylor, Thomas Evans Jr., Jeffery Roney, Thomas Ray Evans and Darrell Elliott. Honorary pallbearers will be Roland Everett, Terry Barber, Anthony Taylor, Jacques Evans, Andre Crowder and Grover Roney.
Mrs. Taylor was born May 11, 1957 in Daingerfield. She attended Daingerfield ISD and was a life long resident of Morris County. She was affiliated with Shady Grove Christian Church. She was a home health care provider.
She is survived by her mother Maurine Taylor of Pittsburg; daughter Shamanthia Taylor of Daingerfield; brothers Thomas Evans and Travis Taylor, both of Cason; sisters Marie Crowder of Cason, Sally Everett of Omaha, Amanda Perez of Pittsburg, Katherine Turner of Daingerfield and Elizabeth Taylor of Jacksonville; and two grandchildren.
Freda Barrett
MOUNT VERNON - Freda Barrett, 92, of Mount Vernon, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002 at East Texas Medical Center.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29 at Harvey Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. Steve Hardin and Pepper Puryear will officiate. Interment will be in Restlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Barrett was born July 25, 1909 in Purley Community, the daughter of Cleve Davis and Mavie Lee.
She is survived by her daughter Doris Meek of Mount Vernon; sisters Bobbie Hogan of Abilene and Frances McGrady of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Milton Barrett in 1986; and brothers Lenden and C.S. Davis.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
