NAPLES - Beverly Chan Black, 42, of Naples, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002 at UTMB in Galveston.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30 at Norris S. Curry C.M.E. Church in Naples. The Rev. Harold Wright will officiate. Interment will be in Morning Star Cemetery in Naples under the direction of Tumey Mortuary. Honorary pallbearers will be George D. Black Jr. Jimmy Black, Mickey Black, Heardy White Jr., Jerry Gaines and Robin White.

Ms. Black was born Oct. 20, 1959 in Atlanta, the daughter of Will Ella (Young) Black and George Black Sr.. She was a member of Norris S. Curry C.M.E. Church in Naples and was a 1979 graduate of Paul H. Pewitt High School.

She is survived by her father Geroge D. Black Sr. of Omaha; mother Will Ella White of Naples; son Vidail Black of Omaha; daughters Crystal Black, Bianca Black and Shaquintae Black, all of Naples; granddaughters Shametriece Black and Marvelous Black, both of Naples; brothers George Black Jr. and Jimmy Black, both of Dallas, Mickey Black of Dekalb, Hardy White and Robin White, both of Daingerfield; sisters Gwendolyn Tarver of Dayton, Oh., Marilyn White of Longview and Carolyn White of Dallas; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

There is no formal visitation with the family planned, however Ms. Black will lie in state from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Cabell

Nadine Cabell, 61, of Mount Pleasant, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002 at Titus Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29 at Beaty Funeral Home Chapel in Winnsboro. Rev. McCloud will officiate. Interment will be in Shady Grove Cemetery in Wood County. Pallbearers will be Greg Henry, Gerald Martin, Steve Moore, Bill Reynolds, Charlie Stevens, Van White, Curtis Swearingin and De Van Swanner.

Mrs. Cabell was born Sept. 15, 1940 in Sugarhill, the daughter of John Emitt and Riller Lacy Smith. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and a hospice volunteer. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her daughter Freda Jean of Johntown, Kathy Lynn Brewer of Winnsboro; sons Bill Cabell of Henderson and Eric Cabell of Talco; brother Fat Smith of Mount Pleasant; sisters Lavern Andrews of Monticello, Opal Dike of Sugarhill, Barbara Ottinger of Talco; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and four sisters.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cypress Basin Hospice.

Collins

Richard Jack Collins, 68, of Mount Pleasant, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002 at Titus Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29 at Curry-Welborn Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Liberty Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carlos Kidwell, Danny McGee, Danny Sargent, Ois Kennington, Harley Lamb and Tommy Williams.

Mr. Collins was born Feb. 27, 1933 in Titus County, the son of Houston B. Collins and Jeffie M. Bynum. He was employed with Mount Pleasant Independent School District in the transportation department. He was a Baptist.

He is survived by his wife Martha Collins of Cookville; sons and daughter-in-law Richard and Shree' Collins of Washington, Donald Collins of Dallas; daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and Jimmy Thomas of Cookville; brother and sister-in-law J.H. and Joan Collins of California; sister and brother-in-law Imogene and Mike Carroll of California; brother-in-law Jay Dunn of Mount Pleasant; sister-in-law Frances Rye; grandchildren Tony Collins of Alabama, Jimmy Collins and Christina Collins, both of Washington, Jimmy Lynn Thomas and Chris Thomas, both of Cookville; two great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Vicki Collins; granddaughter Jennifer Thomas; brother Bobby Collins; and sister Louise Byrd.

The family will receive visitors from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Davis

AUSTIN - Joyce Almalee Jacob Davis, 73, of Austin, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002 at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Bates-Cooper Funeral Home. Bro. Glenn Griffith will officiate.

Mrs. Davis was born Oct. 22, 1928. She was a longtime resident of Mount Pleasant and was a member of the Nevills Chapel Baptist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Twentieth Century Club, a charter member of the Women's Auxiliary of Titus Regional Medical Center and a member of the Mount Pleasant Lioness Club.

She is survived by her husband James E. Davis Jr. of Austin; sons Jim E. Davis III of Bastrop and Jerry Randall Davis of Austin; daughter Judy Gayle Davis of Austin; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister Barbara Jean Dalton of Denver, Co. She was preceded in death by her parents A.V. and Ruth Zimmerman Jacob.

The family will receive visitors from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Francis
PITTSBURG - Margaret Cannaday Francis, 76, of Pittsburg, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002 at Titus Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29 at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel. The Revs. James Cannaday and Lyle Hess will officiate. Interment will be in Macedonia Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brandon Francis, Christopher Lloyd, Jody Tarver, Charles Quinn, Lloyd Quinn and Kelsie McCaw. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy McCaw.

Mrs. Francis was born March 2, 1925 in Franklin County. She was affiliated with the Full Gospel Church and was a member of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her son Terry Francis of Pittsburg; daughters Woodine Strawn of Omaha, Gearldine Coleman of Daingerfield, Mary O'Connell of Pittsburg, Elizabeth Ann Gurthie of Tyler and Paula Allen of Grant, Okla.; step-sons Lloyd Francis of Farmersville and George Francis of Sulphur Springs; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and brothers Curtis Cannaday of Corsicana and Floyd Cannaday of Dallas. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Francis; son Jerry Wayne Francis; daughter Margaret Jeane Ford; two brothers; and one sister.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Robertson

Beatrice Robertson, 97, of Mount Pleasant died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002 at Titus Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Monday, Jan. 28 at Bates-Cooper Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Glenn Griffin and Bro. Harold Amerson will officiate. Interment will be in Nevill's Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dale Doss, Danny Lee, Jacky Robertson, Kelly Robertson, Ronnie Robertson and Dennis Talley. Honorary pallbearers will be Davy Mosely, Heath Robertson, James Robertson, Mark Robertson, Scott Robertson and Todd Robertson.

Born Nov. 6, 1904, Mrs. Robertson was the daughter of William Amason and Octavia Amason. She was a housewife.

Survivors include daughters, Bobbie Barrett and Helen Doss, both of Mount Pleasant; son, Doc Robertson of Mount Pleasant; sister, Tina Smith of Quitman; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sons Charlie Robertson and Bill Robertson; a daughter, Peggy Lee; and three grandsons, Eddie Robertson, Douglas Lee and Alfred Lee.

Smith
Hubert "Bill" Smith, 89, of Mount Pleasant, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002 at Titus Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bates-Cooper Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Leon Grissom will officiate. Interment will be in Bridges Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sammy Hanks, Jimmy Kelley, Johnny Kelley, Gary Russell, Ed Soto and Jimmy Wilkerson. Honorary pallbearers will be Louie "Buck" Smith, Leon Applewhite and Sean McClung.

Mr. Smith was born July 30, 1912 in Franklin County. He was employed with Lone Star Steel and was a member of First Baptist Church of Talco.

He is survived by his wife Maudie Smith of Mount Pleasant; sons and daughters-in-law Billy Joe and Frankie Smith of Mont Belvieu, Kenneth Gene and Tammy Smith of Mount Pleasant, Perry Lee Smith of Mount Pleasant; grandchildren Debra Soto of Dallas, Donna Wilkerson of League City, Brian Smith of Mount Pleasant, Brad Matheidas of Carrollton, Kenyon Smith of Talco, Keith Smith and Shannon Smith, both of Mount Pleasant, Priscilla Rombs of Deer Park, Jimmy Morris of Houston, Carl Morris of Pearland, Bessie David of La Porte, Charlie Morris of Pearland, Jason Carpenter of Cookville and J.T. Schlageter of Mount Pleasant; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Elizabeth Coker Smith; father John William Smith; sisters Vera Bell Williams, Mary Schrimpshere and Nina Steele; and brothers Largus Smith and Aaron Smith.

The family will receive visitors from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Stewart

OMAHA - William Stewart, 84, of Omaha, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002 at Longview.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29 at Naples First Baptist Church. The Revs. Earl Taylor and Joe Perkins will officiate. Interment will be in Chapelwood Cemetery under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home.

Mr. Stewart was born Nov. 28, 1917 in Bryans Mill. He was owner and operator of Texarkana Milling and Supply Co., Farm and Rancy Supply Co., and Red River Fertilizer and Seed Co. in Dekalb. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served as a major in the United States Marines. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Naples and the Elks Club in Texarkana.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie Bauske Stewart of Omaha; daughters and sons-in-law Daren and Joe Gonzalez of Fort Worth, Sue and Gene Snow of Temple; sister Helen Brabham of Longview; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Williams

COMMERCE - Louie V. Williams, 93, of Commerce, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002 in Commerce.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29 at Griffith Chapel C.M.E. in Commerce. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Leesburg under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs.

Mrs. Williams was born Jan. 4, 1909 in Leesburg. She was a housekeeper.

She is survived by cousin W.R. Williams of Commerce.

Diamond

Mary Diamond, 89, of Mount Pleasant, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002 in Mount Pleasant.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at John R. Harmon Funeral Home Chapel in Tyler. The Rev. Charlie Hood will officiate. Interment will be in Rocky Mound Cemetery in Pittsburg. Pallbearers will be Bobby Boyd, Leon Boyd, Darion Powell, Jour Roberson, Cardarin Howard and Cedrick Standard. Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Diamond's family and friends.
Mrs. Diamond was born March 13, 1912 in Overton. She was a Baptist and had lived in Mount Pleasant for over 50 years.
She is survived by her daughter Martha Standard of Mount Pleasant; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son; and a granddaughter.
