LILLIE MAE GRIFFITH BURKS

Funeral services for Lillie Mae Griffith Burks, age 80, of Sulphur Springs,were conducted Sunday, Nov. 28, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Doug Holt and Brother Bradley Edge officiating. Ms. Burks' nephews and grandsons served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the Miracle Revival Church family.

Ms. Burks died at 3:35 a.m. Nov. 26 at Carriage House Manor Nursing Home. She was bron in Birthright on April 26, 1924, the daughter of Jim and Izella Page Griffith. She was a homemaker and a member of Miracle Revival Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Patsy Linker and husband, James, of Sulphur Springs, Wilma Sexton of Royse City, Wanda cole and husband, Jerry, of Sulphur Springs; one son, Jimmy Burks of Dallas; grandchildren, Debra Kendal, Donna white, Mike Booth, Kevin Booth, Melinda Martinez, Paula Linker, Jennifer Cotten, Jamie Linker, Cindy Edge, Kimm Pollard, Brandon Edge

MARGIE ANN (METTS SKINNER)

Margie Ann (Metts Skinner), age 66, passed away Nov. 27, 2004. She was born Aug. 18, 1938, in Angelina County, Texas, to Haywood and Winnie (Denton) Metts. She was a resident of Rockwall, Texas, for 26 years, an active and beloved member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Mrs. Skinner is survived by her husband, Charles Skinner of Rockwall; son: Victor Skinner and wife Terri of Round Rock, Texas; daughter, Emily Shutt and Alan Shutt both of Mesquite, Texas; brother, Charles Metts and wife Shirley; sister, Sally Jo Lee; and aunt, Sadie Denton, all of Lufkin, Texas; grandchildren, Andrew and Courtney Shutt and Wendy and Mallory Skinner; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Rev. Richard Mayerhoff officiating.

ELVETA S. BUCK

Elveta S. Buck, age 84 of Quinlan, Texas, passed away Nov. 27, 2004, in Ennis, Texas. She was born Sept. 27, 1920, in Bagota, Texas, to Jim and Josie Sockwall. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Buck worked as an accountant in the aircraft industry.

Her niece, Janet Walker of Ennis, Texas, and a host of other relatives and friends survive her. Her husband, Clifton Odell Buck, and her parents preceded her in death.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Royse City Cemetery, Royse City, Texas, with Rev. Danney Tenney officiating.

PATRICIA LENAMOND

Patricia Lenamond, age 60, a resident of Rockwall, Texas, for 26 years, passed away Nov. 23, 2004. She was born Nov. 26, 1943, in Temple, Texas, to Johnny E. and Laverne (Wiley) Johnson. Mrs. Lenamond enjoyed shopping and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Heath.

She is survived by her husband: L. E. Lenamond; sons, James Bailey and Mike Lenamond; father: E. A. Johnson; granddaughter, Tiffany Lenamond; grandson, Christopher Bailey; sister, Judith Hardin; brother, Johnny Johnson, Jr.; step-sons, Nolan and David Lenamond; daughter in law, Belinda Lenamond; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends. Her mother, Laverne Wiley Johnson, preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel with Rev. Douglas Lenamond officiating.

ALMA E. GARDNER

Alma E. Gardner, age 99 of Rockwall, Texas, passed away Nov. 23, 2004. She was born Nov. 7, 1905, in Dayton, Ohio, to Julius William and Katherine (Braun) Hauschild. Mrs. Gardner was a homemaker, and has been a member of St John's Church in Dayton, Ohio, since 1905. In 1986, she moved to Rockwall, Texas, where she became a member of First United Methodist Church. In her spare time, Mrs. Gardner enjoyed knitting and sewing.

She is survived by her son, Bill Gardner and wife Diana of Rowlett, Texas; daughter, Pat Ruppert and husband Bob of Rockwall, Texas; granddaughters, Cathy McCallum and husband Wayne, Gigi Gardner-Schlesinger and husband Art, Gina Walther and husband Jamie, and Tracy Chastain and husband Jeff; grandsons, Bill Ruppert and wife Barbara and Dr. Greg Neyman and wife Belinda; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred; her parents; and sisters, Catherine, May, and Ruthie.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel with Dr. Keith P. Boone officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 1200 E. Yellowjacket, Rockwall, TX, 75087.

ARTHUR ALDEN

Arthur Alden, age 86 of Garland, Texas, formerly of Rockwall, Texas, passed away Nov. 30, 2004. He was born May 5, 1918, in Benton Harbor, Mich, to Ola and Emma (Kingsley) Alden. Mr. Alden served in the Navy during World War II, and later worked as a carpenter at AMF Company. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and the Rowlett Bass Club. He loved to fish, and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his daughter, Lora Alvis of Rockwall, Texas; granddaughters, Sharon Young of Garland, Texas, and Cindy Womack of Wylie, Texas; great-grandson, Gary Alvis of Lucas, Texas; great-granddaughter, Barbara Wilson of Nevada, Texas; nine other great-grandchildren; and close friend, Jeane Collins. His wife, Louise Alden, parents, and son-in-law, George Alvis preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be held 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at Chambrel Retirement Community Center, 1245 Colonel St., Garland, Texas, with Chaplain Fran Tynan officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 1615 Stemmons Frwy., Dallas, TX, 75207.

JAMES JENNINGS

James Jennis, age 71 of Rockwall, Texas, passed away Dec. 2, 2004, of congestive heart failure. He was born July 10, 1933, in Hopkins County, Texas, to Jack and Nora (Morris) Jennings. James served in the U. S. Navy and was a member of Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall.

James is survived by his wife, Linda Jennings, of Heath, Texas; daughters, Cynthia Sais and husband Sergio and Sharon Jennings; son, Jim Jennings and wife Cindy; step-daughter, Angie Cox and husband Dale; step-son, Stephen Hutchinson; Chad Griggs; sisters, Martha Hartley and Lillie Wilson; 10 grandchildren, Jason, Brad, Amanda, Krystal, Beth, Jamie, Robert, Kyle, Tiffany, and Jordan; and two great grandchildren, Braden and Bailee.

Services were held Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at Lake Pointe Church, 701 East I-30, Rockwall, Texas. Memorial contributions may be made in James' honor to Lake Pointe Church, 701 East I-30, Rockwall, TX, 75087, F.C.A., 10310 N. Central Expy, Dallas, TX, 75231, or Cowboy Crisis Fund, 101 Pro Rodeo Drive, Colorado Springs, CO, 80919.

Roy C. Allman
Services for Roy C. Allman, 82, of Rockwall were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, in the Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel with the Rev. Shannon Hassell of the Yantis Baptist Church officiating.
Burial followed in the Hillcrest Memorial Park in Dallas.
He died Jan. 29.
Born April 15, 1926, in Wylie to Roy and Madge (Kilgore) Allman, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1983 from the U.S. Postal Service in Dallas following 35 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rockwall, as well as the Masonic Lodge No. 328 in Yantis and the Shriners of Dallas.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Jean Allman of Rockwall; his sons, Mike Allman of Canton and Ronnie Allman and his wife, Gay, of Tyler; a brother, James Allman of Silverhill, Ala.; his stepsons, Mike Heard and his wife, Patsy, of Rockwall and Ricky Heard and his wife, Nancy, of Forney; his grandchildren, Mike, Mark, Ronnie Jr., Chad, Hanna, Melissa and Jeremy Allman, Mindy Smith, Heather Darden, Marcie Beaty, Gina Schoch, Richard and David Heard and Caroline Allison; and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Allman, in 1970 and his parents.
The family has suggested memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, Dallas Division, 1615 Stemmons Frwy., Dallas, TX 75207.

Mike Ash
Memorial services for Mike Ash, 63, of Richardson will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, in the Rest Haven Funeral Home - Rowlett Chapel with Aubrey Patterson officiating.
He died Jan. 30.
Born April 15, 1945, in Houston to Bernard N. and Annamary (Harris) Ash, he received an associate’s degree from the University of Texas and was a retired commercial insurance agent from Keystone General in Rockwall. He had lived in the Dallas area for 34 years.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Ash, of Richardson; a son, Michael Ash, of Richardson; and a daughter, Kelly Ash, of Richardson; a brother, Bernard Alan Ash of Katy; a granddaughter, Skylar Lake Brown of Richardson; his mother-in-law, Bobbie Kidd of Houston; an aunt, June Harris of Duncanville; several nieces and nephews, Dena and Rick Pharr, Jerod and Allison Ash, all of Katy, Lillyanna Ash, Payton Pharr and Mackenzie and Hayden Snethcamp; his cousins, John, Sue, Anne, Carol, Jaime and Kim; and his best friend, Mattie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a cousin, Barbara.
The family has suggested memorial contributions be made to Richardson Animaluv Inc., P.O. Box 831726, Richardson, TX 75083.

George H. Brewer
Graveside services for George H. Brewer, 76, of Rockwall will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, in Dallas. The Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
He died Feb. 2.
Born Jan. 25, 1933, in Newark, N.J., to George Harvey II and Susan (Lancaster) Brewer, he served in the U.S. Navy and was self-employed in the repair business. He was a spiritual man who began each day with the Bible. He enjoyed walking, nature and hiking in the southern California mountains and desert. A deacon at Hacienda Heights Baptist Church in Hacienda Heights, Calif., he attended Lake Pointe Church.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Brewer of Rockwall; one son, George Brewer and his wife, Helga, of Rockwall; a daughter, Jennifer, and her husband, Erik Nedrud, of Rockwall; his grandchildren, Jillian, Cassandra and Allyson Nedrud and Benjamin Brewer; his brothers, Richard Brewer and his wife, Eileen, of Cedar Hill and Noel Brewer and his wife, Joni, of Sayville, N.Y.; and a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Page and Frank Brewer; and two daughters, Dorothy and Tish Brewer.
