Judith A. Castro
Services for Judith A. Castro, 59, of Mesquite were conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009, in the Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel with Pastor Roger Ratliff officiating.
Burial followed in the Rest Haven Memorial Park.
She died Jan. 29.
Born May 14, 1949, in Springfield, Ohio, to Ralph and Alice Perfater, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed attending auctions in Cumby. She worked as a probe technician at Texas Instruments for 33 years and was a member of the Vansickle Baptist Church in Caddo Mills.
Survivors include her husband of 23 years, Joe Castro; her mother, Alice Perfater; one daughter, Amy Armstrong; a sister, Deborah Massie and her husband, Edward; a nephew, David Mace; a niece, Natalie Jones and her husband, Justin; her grandchildren, Kurtis Pelfrey, Matthew Armstrong and his wife, Tiera, Caren Armstrong and Brandon Bilbo Sr.; her great-grandchildren, Lanna Armstrong, Quintrell Clear and Brandon Bilbo Jr.; a great-niece, Gracie Jones; and numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Perfater; her grandmother, Mary Grimsley; a nephew, Ralph Mace; and twin greatgranddaughters, Lean and Aliana Pelfrey.

Doris Miller Cox
Services for Doris Miller Cox, 71, of Heath were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, in the First Baptist Church in Heath. Burial followed in the Heath Cemetery under the direction of the Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel.
She died Feb. 1.
Born July 14, 1937, in Dallas to Wesley Eugene and Ora (Tennant) Miller, she was a loving mother and a member of the First Baptist Church of Heath, where she was active as a teacher and children’s and youth coach for many years.
She enjoyed athletics, particularly softball.
Survivors include her husband, Dwayne Cox, of Heath; a daughter, Wanda D’Ann Cox, of Heath; a son, Darrel Cox and his wife, Erika, of Heath; her grandchildren, Caden and Chandler Cox of Heath and Erin Jones of Quinlan; her great-grandchildren, Bailey and Noah Randall of Quinlan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, David Dwayne Cox; a daughter-in-law, Christi (Crawford) Cox; three grandchildren, Kaylyn Rae, Lauren and Cody Cox; her parents; and three brothers.

Clint M. Flanagan
Services for Clint M. Flanagan, 83, of Garland were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, in the Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel. Burial followed in the Mount Zion Cemetery.
He died Jan. 30 surrounded by his family.
Born July 17, 1925, in Wylie to Melvin and Gracie (Branch) Flanagan, he served in the U.S. Army Paratroopers during World War II. He was a barber and had lived in Garland for 30 years.
Survivors include his children, Sandra Long and her husband, Houston, of Garland, Linda Garner and her husband, Charles, of Breckenridge, Brenda Allen and her husband, Brad, of Rockwall, Clint Flanagan Jr. and his wife, Terri, of Garland, and Jerry Flanagan and his wife, Leslie, of Garland; numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren; his sisters, Hazel Gay of Garland, Lynn Pearl and L.D. Montgomery of Nevada, Texas, and Barbara Engledow of Garland; and a brother, Leon Flanagan and his wife, Glenda, of Garland.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Corine Flanagan; his parents; two sisters, Dorothy and Mattie Mae; and four brothers, Kenneth, J.L., Albert and M.A. Flanagan.

Phillip D. Mann
Memorial services for Phillip D. Mann, 71, of Rockwall will be conducted at 11 a.m. Feb. 13, 2009, in the Children’s Harbor Chapel in Kowaliga, Ala. The Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
He died Jan. 23.
Born Aug. 3, 1937, in Tallassee, Ala., to Raymond and Marjorie (Berry) Mann, he served in the U.S. Navy. A musician at heart, he was a member of the National Bluegrass Association and designed and created his own Web site: phil@bluegrassbanjo.org. He also was a talented photographer who enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Mann, of Rockwall; a daughter, Sharon Burrell and her husband, Wayne, of DeWitt, Mich.; his sons, Christopher Mann of San Francisco, Calif., and Michael Mann of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; three grandchildren; his mother, Marjorie Mann; a sister, Sandra Wilkerson and her husband, Benjamin; a brother, William Mann, and his wife, Becky, all of Houston; and devoted friends Jim and Janet Davis of Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his father and one daughter, Debra Mann.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials be made to the International Bluegrass Music Association, c/o Janet David, Bella Vista, AR 72714.

Michael C. Null
Funeral services for Michael C. Null, 63, of Rockwall were conducted at 4 p.m. Jan. 29, 2009, in the Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel with Dr. Aubrey Patterson officiating. Burial took place at 10 a.m. Jan. 30 in the Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas.
He died Jan. 24.
He was born April 3, 1946, in Dallas to William Tedrow and Ann (Crenshaw) Null.
Survivors include several cousins, an extended family and many loving friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ronald West Perkins
Services for Ronald West Perkins will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, in the Eastridge Church of Christ, 485 N. FM 549, in Rockwall.
The Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Cremation will follow the funeral service, and the ashes will one day be buried with those of his wife in the family plot in the Potosi Cemetery outside of Abilene.
He died Feb. 3 following a 10-month battle with cancer.
He grew up in Abilene and received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and his MBA from Abilene Christian University. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1971 and had his own accounting firm in The Galleria area of Dallas prior to moving to Rowlett. During the 16 years he practiced in Rowlett he became involved in the community, serving on the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, including several years as treasurer. He was a past member of the Rowlett Rotary Club, where he held the offices of president and treasurer. He enjoyed square dancing, and he and his wife joined the Kissin Kuzzins Club in Garland and later joined the Rockwall Squares, where he twice served as president.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Darlene; one son, Jeff and his wife, Dr. Linda Perkins; and many friends and family members.

Earsie Fred Taylor Jr.
Memorial services for Earsie Fred Taylor Jr. will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, in the Free Methodist Church, 315 Dalton Road at Hwy. 205, in Rockwall. The Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
He died Feb. 2 at Lake Pointe Medical Center in Rowlett.
Born July 12, 1930, in Rockwall County to Earsie and Mable (Webb) Taylor, he was known as “Fred.” He attended Rockwall schools, graduating in 1958, and married soon afterwards. In 1965 he moved to McPherson, Kansas, where he worked for Pyle Construction Co., building commercial buildings, churches and some homes. He enjoyed children and was a scout leader, taking scouts on camping trips to the Rocky Mountains. He returned to Rockwall in 1979.
Survivors include his children, DeRay Jones of Rockwall and Pam Schmidt and her husband, Chad, of McPherson; a sister, Rosa Lanier of Rockwall; his grandchildren, Josh Garvin of Austin, Bree Ashley Ottnat and her husband, Chad, of Cedar Park, Chastity Clark of Kansas City, Kansas, and Malia Taylor of Garland; his nephews, Gilbert Lanier of Rockwall, Terry Lanier and his wife, Cathy, of Blue Ridge, Jeremy Lanier and his wife, Bridget, of Salem, Ore., Wes Taylor and his wife, Karen, of Wylie, Lonnie Taylor and his wife, Donna, of Malakoff, and Dickie Taylor of Malakoff; and numerous friends and acquaintances.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Lonnie Taylor; and a son, Freddie Eugene Taylor.

Cris Tranter
Memorial services for Cris Tranter, 38, of Rockwall County will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, in the White Rock Community Church, 9353 Garland Road, Dallas. The Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
He died Feb. 1.
Born June 13, 1970, in Washington, D.C., he was the former owner and operator of Pro Techs Automotive in Rockwall. He was a master mechanic.
Survivors include his father, Harold Tranter of Caddo Mills; his mother, Mary Catherine Kiel of Rowlett; a sister, Terri Tranter of Dallas; and his children, C.J. and Shelby Tranter of Rowlett.

Terri Beth Abbey
Services for Terri Beth Abbey, a former Rockwall resident, were to have been at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, in the Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel. Burial was to have followed in the Rest Haven Memorial Park.
She died Monday, Feb. 16, after having suffered an aneurysm on Feb. 9.
Born Aug. 31, 1961, in Albuquerque, N.M., to Ralph and Kathy Langer, she married Jeffrey Abbey of Washington state in 1982. They lived in Chandler’s Landing in Rockwall from 1995 to 2003, where they were a part of the tennis community and attended numerous sporting events involving their children. She enjoyed her friends, reading, boating, scuba diving, horseback riding, tennis, her dogs and her family. A devoted wife, mother, sister and daughter, she carried the nickname of “Mamma Bear.”
Survivors include her husband, her daughter, Nichole, and son, Garrett, all of Camano Island, Wash.; her parents, residents of Chandler’s Landing in Rockwall; and her sister’s family, Tammi and Britt Starnes, niece Samantha and nephew Slade, all of Dallas.
In lieu of flowers the family has suggested donations be made to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation, 269 Hanover St., Bldg. #3, Hanover, MA 02339 or visit bafound.org.

Samuel Stuart Arterburn
Graveside services for Samuel Stuart Arterburn, infant son of Tony Jr. and Erin (Toney) Arterburn, were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at Macomb Cemetery in Whitesboro. The Meador Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He died Feb. 11 at Baylor Medical Center in Garland.
