Harriet E. Beadle passed away Sunday, May 19. She was a longtime resident of El Paso and involved in several community service organizations including the Girl Scouts, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Moose Lodge and local schools. She also served as an Army nurse during WWII. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren F. Beadle. She is survived by her children: Warren, Robert and his wife Teresa, Walter, Donna and Brenda and her husband Robert; grandchildren: Kimberly, Rowena, Don, Desiree, Brandon, Travis and Dylan; great-grandchildren Jasmine and Kevin; and brother George. Interment took place at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with military honors.

Sara Goodloe Lemley passed away Sunday, May 19. She was involved as a volunteer with organizations such as the Red Cross, the Girl Scouts, D.A. Youth Activities and others. She was as instructor at UTEP, and worked for the military in the intelligence department in Panama. She also worked for 24 years as a real estate professional, receiving many professional awards. She was an accomplished pianist, majoring in music at the University of Houston, and studied economics, international law and psychology in Houston and in Florida. She is survived by her daughters, Docia, Katherine and Carol; her stepchildren, Janice, Susan, Lizbeth, Pamela, Suzanne and Allan Jr. and by 15 grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother, Lottie Dee Atkins; her brother, Bob Atkins and family; and friend Gail Goodloe. Memorial contributions may be made to breast cancer research.

Evelyn McNamee passed away Saturday, May 18. She taught English at Loretto Academy and was a member of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Matthew, and by her twin sons, Raymond McNamee and Matthew McNamee. She is survived by her daughters, Katherine McNamee and MaryLynn McNamee and her husband Robert, and Monie McNamee and her husband Rudy; two grandchildren, Kelly Marie Guel and Matthew Benjamin Guel; brother Gene Ratzlaff and his wife Laura; sister Minnie Ratzlaff and sister-in-law MaryJo McCoun. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Helen F. Ballard passed away Monday, May 27. She was a resident of El Paso since 1969 and was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Ballard. She is survived by her sons, Raymond Ballard and his wife Laura Ballard, and Norbert Ballard and his wife Linda Ballard; by her daughter, Diane C. Ballard; grandchildren Steven, Britni, Kyle, Sarah, Matthew and Nicholas; her brothers, Rudolph and Klaus; and her sister, Erna. Interment took place in Fort Bliss National Cemetery.

Bertha Eisenberg passed away Sunday, May 26. She was a longtime resident of El Paso. She was preceded in death by her husband, Abel M. Eisenberg. She is survived by her son, Moises A. Eisenberg and his wife Laurie Eisenberg; her daughter, Virginia E. Alvarez and her husband Federico Alvarez Jr.; her grandchildren: Cassandra Alvarez, Federico Alvarez III, Alexandria Alvarez, Angel Moises Eisenberg, Destiny Eisenberg, Presley Eisenberg and Michael Eisenberg; and by her brother, William Flores, and his wife Isabel Flores.

Rosa Torres passed away Sunday, May 26. She was a lifelong resident of El Paso. She was preceded in death by her son, David A. Torres. She is survived by her husband, Benjamin Torres Jr.; her daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth and Louie Amaya; sons and daughters-in-law Gilbert Torres and Cris Torres and Ben Torres III and Debbie Torres; sisters Ofelia Salaiz and Esther Boitano; and grandchildren Danielle Torres, Janell Torres, Leah Amaya, Stephanie Amaya, Jason Amaya, David Torres and Matthew Torres. Interment took place at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Mart Terry Tidwell passed away Sunday, May 26. He was born and raised in Sierra Blanca, and worked for El Paso Natural Gas for 30 years, returning to Sierra Blanca to retire to his ranch. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ellen Tidwell; his daughters, Frances Anne Barclay, Ginger Belle Elliott and Rhonda Jo Allen; his grandchildren, Coty Parker, Wes Parker, Rexann Elliott and Brian Elliott; two sisters, Ruth Robbins and Camilla Quassa; and his brother, Carroll Tidwell. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sierra Blanca Methodist Church or to the American Lung Association.

Margarita Garrido Arroyo passed away Saturday, May 25. She was a lifelong resident of El Paso, and is survived by her brothers, Jose Luis Garrido and Rodolfo Garrido; sons Andres Arroyo Jr., Marco Antonio Arroyo and Miguel Angel Arroyo; her daughters, Rosalva Soria, Virginia Lucero, Evelyn Arroyo and Nora Mendez; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Special survivors include the Amigos Taurinos.

Jana Stevenson Jones passed away Sunday, May 26. She graduated as valedictorian from Muleshoe High School and received a bachelor’s degree in education, cum laude, from Phillips University, and earned a master’s degree in education from UTEP. In 2000, she was elected Teacher of the Year at Hale Elementary School in Arlington, Texas. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph H. Stevenson, and is survived by her four children, Bryan Jones, Steven Jones, Kory Jones and Michael Jones; by her mother, Billie Stevenson; her sister, Dianna Humphrey and her husband Neal Humphrey; her brother, Scott Stevenson and his wife Rhonda Stevenson; her niece, Kelli Stevenson; nephews, Todd Humphrey and his wife Jennifer, Mark Humphrey and his wife Michelle, Ryan Humphrey, Gregory Stevenson and Christopher Stevenson; her aunt, Gertrude Thompson; many cousins, and by John Moore. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society or the Community Hospice of Texas.

Sally Kay Hall of San Angelo, Texas, passed away Wednesday, May 29, two days before her 44th wedding anniversary. She was a longtime volunteer at Thomason General Hospital, where she received the volunteer of the year award, and was the secretary and treasurer of the President’s Health Club of El Paso for 34 years. She was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America and the local Wool Capitol Antique Car Club.
She is survived by her husband, J.D. Hall; her son, Marty Jay Hall and his wife Tracey Hall; her grandson, Christian Hall; her granddaughter, Taira Hall; her sister, Marylee Martin and her husband Stanley Martin; her mother- and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harris Lee Wallace; her sister-in-law, Carolyn Rice; and numerous extended family and good friends.
Mrs. Hall’s family extends their special thanks to Dr. Lillian Perez.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Suez Shrine Center in San Angelo or to the American Diabetes Association.

William S. Patton Jr., a lifetime El Paso resident, passed away Friday, May 31. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Texas Western College (UTEP) in 1955, and then served as a lieutenant in the United States Army. He was a prominent businessman who served on the City of El Paso Zoning Board and as a charter member of the board of directors of Cielo Vista Bank. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann C. Patton; his children, William Shannon Patton and Kathryn Patton Viola; his sister, Patricia Briggs; his brother, Paul Patton; his granddaughter, Kira Viola; and various nieces and nephews. Interment took place at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Galveston, Texas.

SFC Carl D. Brady, United States Army (Ret.) passed away Saturday, June 1. He was a veteran of the Vietname War, having served four tours. He was a life member of the Fort Bliss Rod and Gun Club, VFW Post #8550 and the American Legion Post #0058. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Lucille Brady. He is survived by his wife, Adolfine Brady; his step-son, Hans Schoen; his brother, Warren Brady; and sisters, Doris Goldring, Judy Black and Lois Hover. Interment took place at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with full military honors.

Leah Sue Koortz Robinson passed away Tuesday, June 4, after a prolonged illness. Born in El Paso, she graduated from El Paso High School in 1965, where she was head varsity cheerleader and homecoming football queen. She was Freshman Spring Fiesta Duchess, sophomore class favorite, a class beauty for three years and a member of Who’s Who. She attended the University of Arizona and the University of Texas at El Paso prior to graduating from the St. Paul School of Nursing in 1969 as a registered nurse. Shortly after her graduation, she married Leland H. Robinson.
Mrs. Robinson worked as an intensive care nurse, and then devoted her time to raising her children. She was also active in several women’s Bible study groups and taught Sunday school classes.
She was preceded in death by her father, David Koortz; her mother, Goldie Koortz; her sister, Debra Koortz De Rosa; her father-in-law, Leland Robinson Sr.; and her mother-in-law, Grace Stinson Robinson. She is survived by her husband, Leland, H. Robinson Jr.; her daughter, Tammy Lynn Robinson; her son, Dr. Leland H. Robinson III and his wife, Jennifer Leigh Willard Robinson; her grandson, Blake Baker; her sisters, Marsha Koortz Capen, and Jan Koortz Lyons and her husband Gary Lyons; brother-in-law, Carl De Rosa; sisters-in-law, Rebecca Robinson Morris and her husband Jesse Morris, Mary Lestell Robinson, Jane Robinson Rhodes and her husband Kevin Rhodes, Margaret Robinson Sutton and her husband Mark Sutton; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Hugh H. “Buddy” McDermett passed away Saturday, June 8. He was born in Cross Plains, Texas, raised in Balmorhea, and graduated from Sul Ross State University. He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving with the 101st Airborne. After his tour of duty, he worked as a locomotive engineer for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion and the National Rifle Association. He is survived by his wife, Alberta F. McDermett. Memorial contributions may be made to any favorite charity.

Anne Karen Barcena passed away Saturday, June 8. She was a longtime resident of El Paso. During her employment with the civil service while stationed in Seoul, Korea, she and her husband adopted four children. She is survived by her husband, Ricardo Jose Barcena Sr.; her sons, A. Andrew Barcena and Ricardo Jose Barcena Jr.; her daughters, Melissa Anne Williamson and Melinda Anne Wills; her grandchildren: Ian Justin Barcena, Marlene Julia Barcena, Brittney Laurie Wills and Abel Omar Wills Jr.; her daughter-in-law Linda Martinez-Barcena; and her sons-in-law, Craig Spencer Williamson and Abel Omar Wills Sr. Interment took place at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.

Roy Patrick Williams passed away Saturday, June 8, aftger a brief battle with cancer. He served his country in the United States Air Force, and then served his community as an El Paso police officer. He is survived by his two sons, Mark Thomas Williams and Patrick Sean Williams; three brothers, Richard Thomas Williams, John Leo Williams and Lee James Williams; four grandchildren, Kevin Thomas Williams, Sean Patrick Williams, Rebecca Michelle Williams and Kimberly Ann Williams; and numerous nieces and nephews. Interment took place at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Hospice of VNA, 2211 E. Missouri Avenue, Suite 200, El Paso, Texas 79903.

Dionisio Negrete, M.D., passed away Wednesday, June 5.
After serving in the United States Air Force as a communications specialist during the Korean War, he received a degree in science from Texas Western College. He earned a degree in medicine from the University of Missouri at Columbia Medical School and completed a surgical residency at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Returning to El Paso, he opened a surgical practice in 1965.
He enjoyed music, playing many musical instruments, studied foreign languages, traveled the world and became a licensed airplane pilot. He is survived by his children, Mark, Teresa, Paul, Margaret, Nichole and Joseph.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Gary Lane Thompson passed away Monday, June 10. Born in Fort Worth, Texas, he lived in El Paso for 53 years, where he was the CEO of Employment Administrators Inc. and was a pioneer in the staff leasing business. He was a founding member of the National Association for Alternative Staffing, where he served as national president for two terms. He was an active volunteer, proud to serve El Paso as a member of the Sun Parade Committee, the Sun Bowl Team Host Committee which he chaired for several years, the Savane All-American Golf Classic and the Sun Bowl Selection Committee.
He was a Texas champion chili cook land served as a finals judge at the World Championship Chili Cookoff. Thompson was also a volunteer coach and umpire for little league baseball, football and softball.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie H. Thompson and his stepfather, C. Rufus Cadenhead. He is survived by his mother, Vivian Lane Cadenhead; his brother, Charlie H. Thompson II and his wife Georganne and his children Trent Rufus and D’Lane; his mother-in-law Mary L. Fiegel; his aunts, Wilda Cook-Herndon and Larue Wetzel; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society or any favorite charity.

LTC U.S. Army (Ret.) Joseph “Joe” D. Moore Sr. passed away Monday, June 10. A resident of El Paso since 1963, he was a WWII veteran who served with the 82nd and 101st Airborne. He was a past member of the El Maida Shrine Temple. He is survived by his wife, Lillian C. Moore; his son, LCDR Joseph D. Moore II, USN (Ret.); his daughter, Carolyn J. Blackmon; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Interment took place at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with fulll mililtary honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the El Maida Shrine for Shrine Hospitals.

Helen McIntyre Winther passed away on Sunday, June 9 at the age of 104; her birthday was June 8. She moved to El Paso in 1927. She was a past member of the Woman’s Club and the Kern Place Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Ralph McIntyre and Arthur Winther, and her son, Ralph G. McIntyre Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn McIntyre Gardner and her stepdaughter, Ann Winther, and by three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Salvador Vela passed away Sunday, June 23. He was a lifelong resident of El Paso, and was a WWII United States Navy veteran. He became a builder in 1954. He was a founder and former chairman of the board of Continental National Bank and was a director of State National Bank. He was involved in various civic and social organizations. He is survived by his wife, Tencha Vela; his son, Joseph Vela; his daughters, Sandy Vela McClenaghan, Terri Vela Davidson and her husband Philip Davidson and Lizette Vela Bogdan and her husband Michael Bogdan; his sisters, Jackie Nuñez and Becky Flores; grandchildren, Jason and Travis McClenaghan, Jennifer, Corey and Scott Davidson, Kelly, Shannon and Troy Bogdan; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
