Willie "Billie" Evelyn Pate

Funeral services for Willie "Billie" Evelyn Pate, 91, of Lubbock,  Texas were at 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Floydada,  Texas with Reverend Charles Hastings officiating. Burial followed at the Floyd County Memorial Park under the direction of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada,  Texas.

Family greeted friends on Monday, June 23, 2008 from 6-7:30 p.m., at the Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada.

Mrs. Pate died Sunday, June 22, 2008 following a short illness.

She was born on October 5, 1916 to the late Mr. Thomas Oscar Webb and Mrs. Julia Terrell Webb. Mrs. Pate formerly resided in Floydada,  Texas and Ruidoso, New Mexico. Mrs. Pate was a great homemaker who loved cooking and sewing. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She loved her family dearly. She was a member of The Floydada Order of the Eastern Star for 50 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Pate; husband, Bill Landess; a daughter, Nelda Hardy; step son, Glen Landess; sisters, La Verne McMaster and May Dell Hermes; a brother, William H. Webb; and a grandson, Harold Weaver.

Survivors include daughters, Bo Poage and son-in-law Roger of Floydada,  Texas; Verna Six and son-in-law Scott of Mabank,  Texas; son, Gary Pate and daughter-in-law Debbie of Lubbock,  Texas; son-in-law, Eddie Hardy of Lubbock,  Texas; 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren; 3 step children, Tom Landess, Donna Cowan, and Patricia McDonald.

The Family suggests memorials be made to the Cal Farley's Boy Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo,  Texas 79174.

Margaret Ann Reddy

Margaret Ann Reddy, age 72, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at her home with her family by her side. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 21, 2008 at First United Methodist Church in Floydada with Rev. Les Hall officiating.

Burial followed at the Floyd County Memorial Park. Arrangements were under the direction of Moore Rose Funeral Home of Floydada. The family received friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6-7 p.m.

Ann was born on April 3, 1936 to Jack Deakins and Evelyn (Maddox) Deakins in Floydada. She attended schools and grew up in Floydada. Her love of watching movies came from growing up in the Palace Movie Theatre, which was owned by her parents.

She married Walter "Lewis" Reddy on September 11, 1955. The were blessed with three children; Rick, Mitzi, and Tracy. She was proud to be a homemaker. She was a Life Master in the Plainview Duplicate Bridge Club. Ann was also a member of the First United Methodist Church in Floydada.

She was preceded in death by parents and her husband, Lewis in February of 2001.

She is survived by her son Rick Reddy and wife Kelli of Floydada, her daughters, Mitzi Hale and husband Mike of Richardson and Tracy Thompson and husband Lane of Lubbock, her grandchildren Brian and Michelle Hale, Lindsey Pyle, Laura Zepeda, Jacob Reddy,  Taylor Thompson, and Bryce Thompson, and her great-grandchild Kirsten Pyle.

Memorials in Ann's name may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Floydada.

She will be deeply missed by her friends and family.

VIRGINIA G. CAMACHO

Virginia G. Camacho, 75, of Floydada passed away Thursday, June 26, 2008 at Mangold Memorial of Lockney.

Virginia was born on May 22, 1933 in San Diego,  Texas to the late Manuel Gonzalez and Rafaela (Polacka) Gonzalez. She was a lifelong resident of Floydada.

Local survivors include her husband, Monserrate Camacho of Floydada; sons, Pepe Perez and Juan Perez and daughter, Josephine Garza, all of Floydada.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Templo Getsemani Assembly of God Church in Floydada. Burial was held at the Floydada Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Moore Rose Funeral Home of Floydada.

Willie B Gentry

Funeral services for Willie B Gentry, 96 of Lubbock and formerly of Slaton were hel at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Woodrow Baptist Church in Lubbock with Rev. Jim Wilkerson of San Angelo officiating. Interment followed in Englewood Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service in Slaton.

Willie B went to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 10, 2008. She was born on October 31, 1911 in Hedley ,  Texas to Amos Burl and Leola Jaynes Cloninger.

She married Wesley William Gentry on December 23, 1933 in Littlefield. They had farmed in the Posey community and in Floyd County. She was a homemaker and worked at Lakeview and Floydada schools. They returned to Slaton in 1976. She loved working as librarian at both school and church.

She is survived by 4 sons and their wives; Richard and Gwen of Lamesa, Travis and Geraldine of Floydada, Jerry and Ella Mae of Lubbock, Tom and Gloria of Southland; 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters; Mary Walther of San Antonio and Iris Melcher of Plainview and brother, Sidney Cloninger of Dallas.

The family suggests memorials to Woodrow Baptist Church, 16706 Loop 493, Lubbock, TX 79423 .

The family had visitation at the funeral home 6:30 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 11th, 2008.

NEOMA PACE

Graveside services for Neoma Pace, 82, were at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa.

Memorial services were at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Skellytown with Rev. Fines Marchman, pastor, officiating. Immediately following the services, the family received friends in the church fellowship hall.

Arrangements were by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Pace died Sunday, July 13, 2008, in Skellyton.

She was born Feb. 13, 1926 in Floydada to Lee and Jennie Burgett and attended Floydada schools. She married Merle Mercer on Oct. 20, 1946 in Pampa. He preceded her in death on March 23, 1971. She later married E. W. "Gene" Pace on May 8, 1973.

She had been a resident of Skellytown since 1946. Neoma was a member of the First Baptist Church of Skellytown and taught the "70 to Heaven" Ladies Sunday School Class. Her hobby was to minister to her Sunday school class as well as the citizens of Skellytown. She was a regular visitor to all of the residents at St. Ann's Nursing Home in Panhandle. She was known to write her family consistently, and was known for sharing her good cooking with others. She always had an encouraging word for her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, E. W. "Gene" Pace of Panhandle; 2 daughters, Vicki Brown of Midland and Nancy Mercer of Alto, NM; a son, Larry Mercer and wife, Susie of Midland; a stepson, Tom Pace of Amarillo; 7 grandchildren, 1 step-granddaughter, 4 great grandchildren, 2 step-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, and 3 sisters, and a son-in-law, Kelley Brown.

The family received friends from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church of Skellytown.

Marjorie Cypert

Marjorie Lea (Starkey) Cypert was born July 31, 1923 in Floyd County,  Texas to Charley and Bessie (Malone) Starkey. She married Homer Ray Cypert on August 11, 1939 in Floydada,  Texas. Marjorie departed her earthly family on Saturday, August 2, 2008.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 6 at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel with Pastor Todd Bissett officiating. Interment followed in Resthaven Memorial Park. The family received friends from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., August 4, at Resthaven Funeral Home.

Marjorie is survived by her husband of 69 years, Homer, of Lockney; three sons: Jerry Cypert and wife, Denise, of Lubbock, James Cypert of Cisco, Gene Cypert of Amarillo,.; sisters, Nola Long, Sandra George, and Bobbie Hannah, all of  Oklahoma, Phyllis Gladson of Austin, Lola Jewell Starkey of Clyde, Ersie Van Cleave of Dougherty, brothers, Dean Starkey of Amarillo, Johnnie Joe Starkey and Jackie Starkey, both of Flomont, L.T. Starkey of Ralls; sisters- and brother-in-law, Doris McPeak of Salinas,  Calif., Mary Wilson of Floydada, and Gayle Cypert of Lubbock; ten grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and her sister, Viola.

Addie Mae Cypert
Services for Addie Mae Cypert, 85, of Lorenzo will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, October 4, 2001 at the Ralls First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dee Slocum of Amarillo officiating. Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home - Ralls. She died Monday, October 1, 2001 at Bender Terrace nursing home in Lubbock. She was born September 2, 1916 in Tell,  Texas. She married Benton Harl Cypert on December 26, 1932 in Ralls,  Texas. He died December 15, 1983. She was a member of the Lorenzo First Baptist Church and the Lorenzo Study Club. She moved to Lubbock in February of 1995 from Lorenzo and had lived in Lorenzo all her life. She was a homemaker. She is preceded in death by 2 brothers Curtis Green and James T. Green and a sister Georgia Polvadore. Survivors include: 2 Daughters and their husbands Clona and Delton Kelley of Grapevine, Beth and Hollis Thorne of Lubbock one brother Charles Green of Ralls 2 sisters Orene Morris Key and Charlotte Loper both of Lubbock three grandchildren: Benton Kelley, Dana Kennedy and Cy Thorne 3 great grandchildren: Kristina Kelley, Jason Kennedy and Chelsea Kennedy. The family will receive friends at 5:30PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 3, 2001 at the funeral home. Pallbearers: Jerry Bartlett, Keith Hendricks, Duane Truman, Marshall Rauch, John Strange and Benton Kelley.

Mary Elizabeth Kropp

Mary Elizabeth Kropp "Beth", age 83, of Lockney passed away on July 24, 2008 at Lakeside Hospital in Lubbock.

Beth was born August 11, 1924 to Robert Irving and Bonnie Bennett in Floyd County. As a young child, she enjoyed working on the farm and ranch, especially riding her horse during cattle roundup.

She graduated from Lockney High School in 1941 and married Pauldon Luther Kropp on January 31, 1942. After marriage, she and her husband continued their farming interest with her parents. In 1959 she, along with her family, established Green Acres Stock Farm, a large registered and commercial sheep operation, which grew to become one of the most reputable registered sheep farms in the U.S. The family traveled extensively throughout  Texas and the U.S. showing the champion sheep. After her husband's death in 1968, the sheep operation dispersed and she continued the family farming operation on her own, developing her extensive farming interest into one of the most successful farms in Floyd County.

Another one of her most enjoyable times was her traveling with her close friend, Auctioneer Kenneth Gregg, to assist with clerking livestock auctions. During her 40 years of clerking livestock auctions, she enjoyed working with people and was known for her accuracy, knowledge of thousands of names, her caring personality and her band of friends was enormous. In recent years, she was confined to her home because of her illness. She directed much of her interest toward her great-grand children.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her son Jimmy Dale Kropp.

Survivors include her son, Bob Kropp of Perry,  Oklahoma; a daughter, Paulette Savage of Port Lavaca,  Texas; two grandsons, Paul Kropp of Oologah,  Oklahoma and Ben Crandall of Seattle,  Washington; and two great-grandchildren, Carson and Kennedy Kropp of Oologah,  Oklahoma; many cousins and special family friend, Oneda Bennett of Lockney.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the Lockney Cemetery officiated by Pastor Joe Bennett. The burial was under the direction of the Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Lockney.

Family suggests donations to the Lockney Cemetery Association or the charity of your choice.

DONNA SUE RAYBON MORRISON

Donna Sue Raybon Morrison entered into eternal life on August 1, 2008 in The Woodlands,  Texas. She was born May 30, 1933 in Seagraves,  Texas to Bea and Mae Raybon and lived most of her early life in the Sand Hills of Crane,  Texas where she graduated from Crane HS in 1952. After going to work in Midland for Atlantic Refining Company, she met Bill Morrison (from Floydada), her beloved husband for 55 years. Their careers took them to Midland, Calgary, Alberta, Amarillo and Houston but they always considered Midland their home. In 2005 they moved to Montgomery,  Texas to be near their children and grandchildren.

Donna is survived by her husband, Bill; two daughters, Virginia Morrison of Houston, Kim Morrison Sepolio and her husband, Tony and two grandsons, Eric and Scott of The Woodlands, who were the light of her life. Also surviving Donna is her nephew, Raybon Gilbert, his wife, Reenie and their family and niece, Beth Gilbert Slone, her husband, Ron and their family. Also surviving were two beloved sisters-in-law, Virginia Cage and Bess Cohen. Preceeding Donna in death are her parents and two sisters, Eloyce Raybon Gilbert and Irene Raybon Marshall.

Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2008 at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Chapel. Interment followed in Houston National Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 2008. In memory of Donna, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Hansel Sanders

Hansel Sanders, age 79, of South Plains, passed away on July 31, 2008 at the Floydada Rehab and Care Center of Floydada.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 2, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church of Lockney with Rev. Kyle Brock and the Rev. Ricky Carstensen officiating. Burial followed at the Lockney Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Lockney.

Family greeted friends from 6-7 p.m., Friday, August 1, 2008 at the Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Lockney.

Mr. Sanders was born March 29, 1929 to Andrew P. Sanders and Inez (Gordon) Sanders. He attended Silverton Schools and graduated Floydada High School. He married Connie Reves on February 9, 1949 in Plainview,  Texas. He farmed his entire life until he retired in 2000. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lockney. He served in several offices in the Church and served as South Plains School Board President.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Connie Sanders of South Plains; two sons, Mark and his wife, Dee of Floydada and Gary and his wife, Jeni of Shallowater; a brother, Joe Sanders and his wife, Joan of Lubbock; two sisters, Twilla and her husband, R.G. Morris of Petersburg; Eulalia and her husband, Eschol of Spearman; five grandchildren, Kallan Sanders of Dallas, Shea Sanders of Amarillo, Kelli Simdon and her husband, Chris of Frisco, Dane Sanders and his wife, Robin of Floydada and Kylan Frances and her husband, Matt of Silverton and three great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Graham and Aubrey.

Family suggest memorials in Hansel's name be made to South Plains Baptist Church Kitchen Fund, P.O. Box 119, South Plains, TX 79258.

JOSEPH H. HUFFMAN

Joseph H. Huffman, 74, of Plainview,  Texas passed away on Friday, September 12, 2008 in Plainview.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Rev. Gerald Boerger officiated. Burial followed in the Silverton Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.

Mr. Huffman was born November 9, 1933 in Lockney,  Texas to Charles Herman and Helen Walker Huffman. Huffman farmed in Floyd and Hale County. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Tulia.

Survivors include two daughters, Valerie Shultz and husband, James of Crowell and Veronica Baca and husband, Frank of Lubbock; one son, Ronnie Huffman and wife, Vicky of Lockney; his companion, Evelyn Inman of Plainview; one brother, Charles Huffman of Lockney; nine grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.

Visitation for family and friends was held Monday, September 15, 2008 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607-1460.
