Louise Moss Lowman, passed away Sunday, March 23. She was an El Paso resident for over 40 years.
She served as the assistant to County Clerk Wally Fields until his retirement, and then worked in the County Tax Assessor Collector’s office. She was also vice president of R.D. Lowman General Contractors until the time of her passing.
Mrs. Lowman is survived by her husband of 25 years, Robert D. Lowman Jr.; by her children, Dennis W. Koehler, Melanie K. Koehler Posey, Lisa Lowman Leone and her husband, Matthew, Lori Lowman Huston and her husband, Eric; her grandchildren: Jesse L. Koehler, Mia L. Koehler, Heather Surratt, Howard Surratt, Stephanie Hutson, Danielle Hutson, Matthew Leone Jr., Tina Leone, Tenille Leone and Kimberly Leone; her sisters, LaVelle Moss Hayes and Barbara S. Gober; her brother, Dean Medlock; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Interment took place in Lonegrove Cemetery in Lonegrove, Texas, her hometown.

Armando Luna, 39, passed away Thursday, March 20. He was born on July 6, 1963, and lived in El Paso, graduating from Riverside High School and NMSU. He moved to Washington, D.C., where he worked as a mechanical engineer for the Naval Surface Warfare Center for 18 years.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Raul Luna Jr. He is survived by his parents, Raul and Teresa Luna; sisters, Teresa Gomez, Linda Luna, Yolanda Recovo, Sylvia Ledesma, Alice Muñoz; his brother, Frank Luna; 18 nephews and nieces and many loving friends.

SFC. Robert Lee Barndt, U.S. Army (Ret.), 56, passed away Monday, March 24. He was a longtime resident of El Paso, and worked for Chevron Refinery.
He is survived by his wife, Hiroko Barndt; his son, Richard Shawn Barndt; his daughter, Monica Ayu Barndt; brother James Barndt; and one grandchild. Interment took place at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with full military honors.

Robert “Bob” Hensley, 52, died Thursday, March 27, from complications of Multiple Systems Atrophy.
He was born in Jacksonville, Texas, on Oct. 2, 1950. He attended Texas A&M University, and earned his Ph.D. in education. He moved to El Paso, where he worked as an on-site consultant at Region XIX Educational Service Center.
Hensley met, and later married, Mary Susan Rivas. After their wedding in 1955, they relocated to Salem, Oregon, where he worked for five years in special education at the MacLaren Youth Correction Facility before taking early retirement.
Hensley is survived by his wife and best friend, Susan Hensley; his parents, Sam and Estalene Hensley of Jacksonville, Texas; his sister, Jean Hensley Poston of Austin; his brother, David Hensley of Austin; his sister, Rosemary Miller and her husband, Eddy Miller, of Round Rock, Texas; his mother-in-law, Bettie Rivas of El Paso; his sister-in-law, Rachel Villalobos of Grand Rapids, Mich.; his brother-in-law, Paul Rivas of El Paso; and his nieces and nephews: Ryan, Lori, Michael, April, Adam, Lauren, Annie, Benjamin and Katie.

Anthony John Hernandez, 21, passed away Friday, March 28. A lifelong resident of El Paso, he graduated from Eastwood High School in 2000.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Antonio and Eleanor Romero and Juan and Simona Hernandez. He is survived by his son, Anferney Lujan Hernandez; his daughter, Juanna Marie Aboud Hernandez; his sisters, Sheila Diane Hernandez, Valerie Marie Garcia and April Denise Hernandez; brothers-in-law, Michael Garcia and Francisco Torres; Godparents, Pete and Leonore Candelaria; and many cousins. Interment took place in Evergreen Cemetery.

Jesus M. Valdiviez, Staff Sergeant, USAF (Ret.), 77, passed away Saturday, March 29. He was a lifelong resident of El Paso and a veteran of WWII, the Korean War and the Vietname War.
Valdiviez is survived by his wife, Margarita Valdiviez; and by two daughters and three sons. Interment took place at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.

Luis Carlos Martinez Monjaras passed away Wednesday, April 9. He lived in El Paso since 1985, and was a cardiovascular surgeon in private practice with Dr. John Liddicoat and Dr. Robert Santoscoy.
Dr. Martinez was preceded in death by his parents, Agustin Martinez Esparza and Hortencia Monjaras de Martinez. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Maricela Martinez; his daughters, Claudia Adriana Martinez Narvaez, Karla Marcela Martinez, Veronica jCristina Martinez; his son, Carlos Roberto Martinez; his son-in-law, Oscar Narvaez; his sisters, Hortencia Martinez and Aida Martinez Tovar; his nephew, Roberto Tovar; and the Monjaras Cisneros family.
Dr. Martinez’s family would like to express their thanks to the El Paso medical community.

Col. James F. Kingwell Jr., U.S. Army (Ret.), 85, passed away Tuesday, April 8. He was born in Boston, Mass., and moved to Rochester, N.Y., in 1939, where he worked for the Eastman Kodak Co. until he was drafted into the Army in March 1941; he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the field artillery at Ft. Sill, Okla., in September 1942, and was assigned directly to Europe as a replacement. After two months, he was shipped to North Africa, where he formed a military police company. His company was sent to Europe for the invasion of southern France in 1944.
He left active duty in 1946 and was recalled to active duty in 1950 and assigned to the M.P. Corps. He was promoted to the rank of Col. while attending the University of Omaha, where he earned a bachelor’s in law enforcement and security. He served as Deputy Provost Marshall of USA-REUR, and retired at Ft. Bliss, Texas, in Oct. 1970 after 30 years’ service.
He became the first El Paso County medical examiner investigator, and was a 50-year mason.
Col. Kingwell is survived by his wife of 56 years, Constance M. Kingwell; daughter, Joyce K. Woolley; sons, Robert A. Kingwell, Bruce W. Kingwell and James R. Kingwell; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Interment took place at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with full military honors.

Josephine Y. Armstrong, 77, known professionally as Jo Davis, passed away Friday, April 11. She graduated from Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans, and became a prominent registered nurse in El Paso.
She was a surgical nurse at William Beaumont General Hospital, Hotel Dieu Hospital and Southwestern General Hospital. She was also an industrial nurse at ASARCO and Farah Manufacturing, and worked as a private nurse for various physicians. She retired from her position as a tuberculosis clinic nurse at the El Paso City County Health Department.
She was an active member of the Elks Lodge No. 187, a member of BPO Auxiliary American Legion and the Hotel Dieu Alumni Association.
Mrs. Armstrong was preceded in death by her parents, Miguel and Dora Yzquierdo; her husband, Thomas N. Armstrong Jr.; and her brother, Mike Yzquierdo. She is survived by her son, Andrew T. Gonzales and his wife, Lisa; her grandchildren, Michael and Kathleen Gonzales; her sister, Ofelia Serrano and her husband, Frank; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Oscar Muro passed away Thursday, April 10. A lifelong resident of El Paso, he was the founder and president of the Mexican-American Firefighters International Association.
He is survived by his wife, Alicia Muro; his parents, Jesus and Felicitas Muro; his son, Ramsey Muro; daughters, Marisela Garcia, Sandra Jaimez and Kimberly Muro; his stepsons, David Martinez, Andrew Martinez, Louie Martinez and Rudy Martinez; his brothers, Antonio Muro, Hector Muro, Jesus Muro, Raul Muro and Carlos Muro; his sister, Norma Rodriguez; and 21 grandchildren. Interment took place at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to the noble men and women of the El Paso Fire Department, Local 51 and the Mexican-American Firefighters International Association for their prayers, assistance and support.

Mary H. Dipp passed away Sunday, March 27. A lifelong resident of El Paso, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Dipp Sr., and her son, Lee Ronald Dipp. She is survived by five children, Michael J. Dipp Jr. and his wife Mary Ann, George R. Dipp and his wife Cristina, Rosalie Ann Dipp Zoghby and her husband Raymond of Mobile, Ala., Mary Jeanne Dipp and Paul Dipp and his wife Suzanne; by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters, Victoria Hamrah and Rosalie Hamrah; one brother-in-law, Jorge Dipp Murad; and one sister-in-law, Aurora Dipp Murad.
Memorial donations may be made to the El Paso Community Foundation.
Father Don Willison Griswold died April 25. Before obtaining his divinity degree at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific, he served in the U.S. Navy as Assistant First Lt. on the U.S.S. Bexar.
His extensive ministry included youth ministry in Oklahoma and Zululand, South Africa; conducting the first interracial training in South Africa; co-pastoring the first Episcopal/Lutheran church in Colorado; traveling throughout Latin America while serving on the National Church’s World Hunger Task Force; working in organizational and group development while obtaining a Ph.D. from the State University of New York; serving as priest in charge of an Hispanic/English congregation in Monterrey; serving as an interim priest in El Paso and Mass.; and developing the Department of Pastoral Care at Providence Memorial Hospital. He was a co-founder of the Kick-Ass Cancer Support Group.
He is survived by his wife, Lu Griswold; his three children, Lisa Looger, Brian Griswold and Ian Griswold; by his children’s spouses, Lyle Looger and Liz Groswold; and by his five grandchildren, Lowell and Larry Looger and Christopher, Emily and Jessy Griswold.
Donations may be made to the Friends of the Four Homes of Mercy in Jerusalem in care of Pat Naftzger at 748 Cheltenham Drive in El Paso, 79830.

John Edward Tabor, 72, died April 26. A resident of El Paso since 1968, he was an insurance agent for several companies until the early ’80s, when he opened Tabor Insurance Company. He was a member of the Masonic Stanfield Lodge No. 217 and the Scottish Rites.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Tabor; his sons, John Bradford Tabor and James Edward Tabor; his daughter, Pamela Annette Clark; grandchildren, Jason Kenneth Clark, James Kody Clark, John Elliott Tabor and Linsey Ann Tabor; brother, James Otis Tabor; sister, Doris Jean Benz; one niece and two nephews.
